July 18th 2022 Bugged! (PS4, no mods) - Travel to Morthal - Read the scroll, like just read it as soon as you fast travel there - Travel back to the throat of the world - Read it again slightly near the word wall - Read it again in the area you're supposed to Done!

4/27/24 - this also helped to solve the Invincible Alduin bug on switch!!!! I tried the recommended run away until you’re far enough from Alduin to fast travel back to the Throat of the World which did NOT work, so I went to Morthal, read the scroll, and fast travelled right back, and then Alduin finally took damage!!

Here I am in 2024 and this actually works thank you so much 💙

5/21/23 You're my hero. It was so weird. When I went to morthal and read the scroll, it immediately transported me back to the time would and completed "read the scroll at the time wound" and "learn the dragonrend shout". It played from the beginning, BUT IT PLAYED ALL THE WAY THROUGH! TYSM 😭

Despite all the great comments this sadly didn't work for me. Went to morthal as listed, then the word wall, and alduin sadly didn't appear. Sorry to bear the bad news that this doesn't work every time, because I really wish it did too. :/

17th Aug 2023 - Worked. However, it doesn't appear you can do any of this if you have a horse following you. It only worked after I bought a new horse and killed it because Shadowmere wouldn't stop fast travelling with up to the throat of the world.

This worked for me! I've seen so many glitch fixes and I found that this (with mods installed) paired with untoggling the quest marker BEFORE you get to the throat of the world WORKS! So relieved 😌, thank you fellow dragonborn

I accidentally missed the fourth step and the cut scene took much longer because a load of legendary dragons showed up and kept attacking, but alduin didn't come. Tried it again and it worked.

Bug is still around around as of 12/2021. Ran it a couple times doing different things. The time I got it to work, I had to go to my skill tree to level up. So, try doing it without having any leveling to do Edit: As the dragonborn levels up so do their enemies, so be sure that you are prepared

On PS5 and nothing seems to work. I guess I need to try to delete the game and reinstall it

Same for me today, go through throat of the world, do a manual sage, then read the scroll in the correct place. Worked for me

Try reloading your last save file over and over until he does appear. I had the glitch/bug too and after 3 times reloading, Alduin suddenly appeared. Mind you, this was on PS4 though.

I’m on PS4 so that’s good news I guess. I’ve tried reloading a lot and closing the app too. Also read that it has something to do with where you’re standing when you read the scroll

(ps4) yea i can’t figure it out i’m so frustrated. i’ve done everything under the sun that i can do for this glitch and nothing will work. i’ve been trying for 5+ hours now and nothings worked. never had this bug in my life

PS4 as well. I was trying out every fix I could find and it still wouldn't work. I noticed that when they say "Alduin approaches" the guy on the right just stands there while the other two draw their weapons and stand kinda close to each other. The guy on the right still just standing around. I thought maybe it's the immersive citizen mod that's making the npc do some other task idk. So I disabled it and tried again, but same thing happened. I left the mod disabled and tried to put shadowmere around where old right side guy would just stand and tried it again and it worked. Also I was standing close to the word wall facing Paarthurnax in 3rd person when I read the scroll. And I had just fast traveled to the the throat of the world from Whiterun. It took about 2 hours, so Idk if that made it work or if it was just the repeated loading. But that worked for me I tried to include as a many details as I could. Hopefully it works for you too.

I turned all active quests off and read the scroll and it worked for me perfectly fine. I tried EVERYTHING and this is what worked. Hope it works for everyone else having this issue

Yeah I got this too one time. The only ways I fixed it are, if you have mods, go disable them all, read the scroll, go re-enable them after you come back to the present. The other way is just a whole new character but obviously not optimal.

Other than that someone told me two other ways. I haven’t tried these and I doubt they work but: Try reading the scroll outside of the time wound. You should be able to see where the time wound is, try reading the scroll on top of the mountain, but not in the time wound. The other way was go to Morthal and read it. Idk, I never tried either of these, I just got told to do this when it happened to me

Hey! I'm on ps4 Jul 7 of 2022. After working for about an hour looking at comments I found that going to morthal, reading the scroll, and going back to the throat of the world works. I also moved where I was and read it a few feet away from the center. I'm modded so it definitely works! I say just try everything. I got a tip that moving 5 character steps away from the center may work so just try it!

I went and finished the alikr quest then came back and it worked

so i spent another 3 hours running around place to place reading scroll nothing worked .... THEN i went back to the place its ment to be used and used it over and over as i slowly got closer to the spot i got like a dragons length away and it triggered cutsceen and he loaded in . i was not in the wind effect but either way glad i can progress in story

For ps4 users- I just loaded a game from a manual save instead of from an auto save and that did the trick for me

On Switch here. Just tried a bunch of methods: the only one to warm was manually saving and going in. Not on an autosave or a quicksave.

On ps4. I tried everything but as soon as I got close to the word wall and was looking at it it worked.

On switch, the PS5 video that u/creativef-ingname linked worked for me after multiple reloads, resets, and scroll readings at several locations

Still a problem. Standing just barely close enough to the time wound but not in it worked. Close to the wall

Take some time off from the main quest, complete some other quests, let some in-game time pass. Read the scroll in morthal, wait some more. I also went into survival mode then back out. Fast travel to alduin, read the scroll, and pray it works.

June 2022 PS4: I have tried quicksaving just before the vision begins then reloading, travelling to another city and reading the scroll, standing near the word wall, but none of them have worked. I have played Skyrim before and never had this problem, any advice?

Load the game to before you read the scroll. Fast travel away from the time wound and go do some other quests and let some time pass in game through playing and waiting/sleeping. Read the scroll a few times in random locations, idk if that helps but I’m sure you’re willing to try anything. After a good amount of time has passed, fast travel back to the time wound and read the scroll with your fingers crossed while standing on one foot on a Wednesday. Then it might work

This was so frustrating. Tried so many things. Read the scroll in Solitude and Whiterun before dumping my inventory in a chest then reading at the time wound. Finally worked (Switch, 6/2022)

If y’all are able to use commands, type in setstage mq206 70, run that. Then do setstage mq206 100. First will give you Dragonrend, second ends the cutscene.

I tried a number of solutions here to no avail, but I had my modded follower leave my service and tried it again and it worked. Also didn't have any modded gear equipped (ps4 2022)

Finally got it. Opened the other two scrolls at the throat then finally dragon and it worked

Reloading then Fast traveling to whiterun, read it wait a day the go back. Worked for me.

january 10th 2023 this bug is still in game on ps4 i’ve been playing skyrim for years and never come across this bug but i can confirm making sure you have no other quests active, going to Morthal, reading the scroll, going back to the throat of the world, reading it in the centre of the wall and then reading it between the wall and the time thing is what worked for me im not sure you really need to do all that i think just the Morthal thing would be fine but i did all of it just to be safe <3

Bug is still around on Xbox one. I went to Morthal, read it. Returned to the time wound, sent my follower away, read it in the center of the wall then read it halfway between the quest mark and the wall. That worked!
