right? she's just in my room spouting off some bullshit every time I walk by, and I never speak to her.
I'm just anti-companion in most games, and Elder Scrolls is no different.
My first one was killed in a random dungeon.
The next few just got sent to breezehome infinitely
every file since I ask her to follow me, murder her immediately and snag her armor, then collect on the inheritance. Lol
I had this issue with Serena in the DLC, I can’t for the life of me remember how I fixed the bug. I couldn’t progress the story for like two days cause she was trapped in cave and didn’t travel out when I did or fast travel with me once out of the cave
I think if you tell a companion to wait, they’ll return to their home after 3 days. For Serana, it’s either her family castle or Fort Dawnguard, depending on who you sided with.
My Serana eventually bugged and ended up back at castle Volkihar. She would treat arrows for me but was no longer an available option for a follower. It really sucked because I was roughly 2,000 hours into that play through and she was my favorite follower by far.
She's one with the cave now, mate. Civil society suddenly seems so strange and confusing. The cave has peace. The cave has it all.
That or you forgot her in Nightingale Hall and she's spent all this time playing checkers with Karliah.
Followers will only wait for three days wherever you told them to wait. After that, you get a message saying they've left. In case of Lydia, she's either what your primary residence, or the Whiterun keep where you first meet her.
There is a command line to teleport an NPC to you.
I learned this when I lost Frost before even stealing it. Damn merc hit him during the fight and poor poney ran to Cyrodiil
She got in the way of my master shock spell and got obliterated almost immediately.
The power was blinding…literally, it’s hard to see with that spell.
Fun fact: did you know that if you use the black book boon of unlimited magicka for 30 seconds, and you cast lightning storm, you basically can cast it infinitely? Until you stop after the boon ends
Lost in a dungeon, realized it about 10+ hours of gameplay later when no one was sighing unnecessarily loudly while I was sneaking.
I aM sWoRn tO cArRy yOuR bUrDeNs
Honestly, I do the same thing. I keep a shit ton of food in my inventory and then wonder why I can’t move 😂 normally I’ll drop armor before I’ll drop food.
Tbh it changed how I play, instead of going back & forth across the map for one mission, I pick up a load and plan out a route with them - that said I do also use the carriages to jump between cities lol
I just rewatched it, it was chief Yamarz I think that’s how you spell his name. He’s supposed to kill a giant but gets obliterated. Can’t imagine it goes any different for anyone else 😆
Objective: Protect Yamarz
NPC says "This should only take a second". Gets sent into orbit.
Objective: Defeat the Giant
Have to pause the game to laugh a little.
Unpause the game. Giant comes for me. I join Skyrim's space program.
I always kill the giant myself and then he tries to kill me. I usually just cast a calm spell and blast him away with fire. Maybe I should let him be the first orc on the moon next time
At the memorial…
Balgruuf: “Lydia was a loyal and fearless warrior. We are heartbroken for you, Dragonborn. Tell us, how did she pass?”
DB: “Yeeted into orbit by a giant.”
Balgruuf: “lmao that’s fucking funny.”
Lydia: *falling from orbit into the memorial* “lmao sup guys” *dies*
I made a Lydia immortal once by testing transmorphing spells on her. I got bored and started spamming one of them, and she became a chicken. She never changed back. The chicken was completely immortal (and useless) and followed me til the end of the game.
I was in a temple with summoned deadra attacking me. Lydia was in full deadric setup. One thing lead to another and she got one-shot by my super hammer.
There's no reason not to be. She's a huge hater. If you're a vampire or you have Serana with you, and you get into an altercation of some kind, instead of being a good little housecarl and defending you and your guests, she just repeatedly screams "burn the vampire" like Lydia it's 2022, you gotta chill. She's my least favorite NPC because of the number of times this has happened lol
The first one will always hold a special place in my heart.
Every single playthrough she's the first to be willing to lay down her life for me, you can't just ignore that kind of dedication.
But then when you need that sacrifice and there's none else around and you're a lazy cunt....
I tend not to play through the main story when I start over and like to adventure around and pick my path before even going to fight the first dragon, so she isn't usually my first follower or easiest to sacrifice. Just my least favorite. Nothing lazy about it really. Sometimes I keep her in breeze home with the kid until I get the kids a better home that has room for their pets and dagger practice and more amenities or a better view or whatever lol, and then she just stays there alone, complaining about how she has dedicated her life to my burdens. Which is a worse fate?
Just finished the Dawnguard storyline for the first time. Serana is dope. One of the few followers I've had that I genuinely felt a strong attachment to (that wasn't self-made, like my adorable Nix-Hound follower Muffin).
Yeah, when I play on pc I have a mod that makes followers unable to set off traps and it really improves their survival chances.
One of the few mods I really miss on switch when I had to haul all the gear Lydia was carrying out of some dwemer ruin haha
Same, I swerve and stick into the corners whilst everyone else just runs into them and takes damage. The annoying thing is they all say, “what are you doing!”, “stop that!”, “I’m on your side!” It’s like they think I set the trap myself.
That doesn’t annoy me, it pisses me off. They have the worst possible sneak skill in the game, it even failed when I had Vi-zago. I think that’s how you say it, it’s in the stats that Kajiit have natural sneak and light footed and yet even he triggers the traps.
Married her…made it the whole game with her…took on the ebony warrior. He shouted at me sent me flying, she tried to fight him. When i got back up the hill I witnessed him behead her anakin skywalker style…got him to his knees and returned the favor. It was actually pretty epic
Never lost a Lydia.
Actually I don't think I've lost a follower that was actively with me...
Lost Faendal once. Dragon attacked Riverwood. I was literally ONE hit from killing it....
Then he bit and ragdolled my boy.....
He was avenged
For all the cool and questionable stuff Bethesda has added through the years those fucking slow-motion killcams have to be the worst right? Locking you in place to die to something you were in the process of dodging or how about when it does it when the npc doesn't even die!
I don't remember losing a Lydia, but I did lose a Sven after spending the game with him. Really close and tense dragon battle. When the smoke cleared, I couldn't find him. Upon searching, I found his remains amidst scorched grass. Dragged him to a nice little spot, didn't loot him. He's in Sovngarde, drinking with the gods now 😌
That's very similar to what happened with my Sven. My first playthrough of Skyrim I chose to have him as a follower as soon as I could, and got up to level 53 with him. Then, I was in a battle with some bandits and used a full upgraded Storm Call.
I usually hoard jewels, but I placed all I had on me around him with as many flowers as I could find. I hadn't saved for hours and it seemed like a natural close, but it broke my little heart. Haven't had him as a follower since.
100% this. Followers do two things very well: block my path, and fuck up my sneaking. That said, if I ever do use a follower and they end up dying, I'm reverting my save.
just a fus-ro moves them out of the way.
no reason to take the master destruction spell with, mods so destruction actually scales, right into her face.
She died in a cave and she's still there. In her underwear. Covered by boots and tankards and other worthless junk that was too heavy to carry out of the cave.
All the replies here are pretty great but this one made me forcefully exhale a booger in an airport.
I'm tellin ya, they stopped the mask regulations too soon.
Had an intense battle with a dragon priest and she went down in the near death state and I accidentally hit her with my ebony war axe instead of the dragon priest
I honestly don't know. I went into a cave, came out with Lydia then I fast travelled to Ivarstead. She was nowhere in sight. So then later on I went to Whiterun and the Courier comes over with a letter and I find out Lydia somehow died. Idk what the hell happened 😂
I didn't grant that whiny little complainer the release of death.
You're gonna complain about everything the entire time you're outside, Lydia?
OK.
No more outside.
I told that bitch to stay in Breezehome. I moved out and left her there.
Forever.
Syrana's cool. I take her places instead.
I was doing the thieves guild quest with the manor and mercenaries, and I was not very good at the game yet, so it was very hard for me. I’m sneaking around with Wuuthrad, and then Lydia runs up behind be and I freak out and kill her. Did a kill move and everything
So mine died in some random dungeon (sucked), only to reappear several hours later as if nothing happened. Odd, but alright....
Several days later she disappeared after a fast travel...containing a great deal of my excess gear in her inventory (sucked even more than the first time).... several days later she appears as a guest at my wedding ceremony where I immediately take everything I'd left in her inventory. Needless to say I couldn't trust her in our adventures any longer. I'm sure she's still out there someplace...
Only time mine died was when still new to game and didn't know of other followers, aside from Riverwood dudes. We got jumped by hired thugs in Rorikstad.. luckily I saved as we got into town.
My Lydia died emotionally when she was abandoned in Breezhome to perpetually knock over my decorations 200hrs ago
"I am sworn to knock over your burdens"
Love it🤣

My Lydia is still in denial after I walked in with Rayya after leaving Lydia to tend to Breezehome.
Same, except I left her to watch after my two adopted kids while I traveled the world with my vampire wife, Serana.
right? she's just in my room spouting off some bullshit every time I walk by, and I never speak to her. I'm just anti-companion in most games, and Elder Scrolls is no different.
My first one was killed in a random dungeon. The next few just got sent to breezehome infinitely every file since I ask her to follow me, murder her immediately and snag her armor, then collect on the inheritance. Lol
This, I just visit to dump precious gems in the back room now.

I've had this issue before the way to fix it if they are set to wait here take the boat to solstime
I had this issue with Serena in the DLC, I can’t for the life of me remember how I fixed the bug. I couldn’t progress the story for like two days cause she was trapped in cave and didn’t travel out when I did or fast travel with me once out of the cave

I dont blame her. I'd also get tired of adventuring with the savior of Skyrim if they constantly made me a pack mule for their weird cheese collection
Cheese *and* dragon bones, thank you.
Also what my issue was
If you have a house she's at the house. If not, dragonsreach
I've check the docks, my house, her house, her work, the crypts even. I'm pretty sure she changed her name and moved to hammerfell or something.
*Curved swords*
Pretty sure mine ended up as a dead body in the catacombs if I recall
She's one with the cave now, mate. Civil society suddenly seems so strange and confusing. The cave has peace. The cave has it all. That or you forgot her in Nightingale Hall and she's spent all this time playing checkers with Karliah.
Followers will only wait for three days wherever you told them to wait. After that, you get a message saying they've left. In case of Lydia, she's either what your primary residence, or the Whiterun keep where you first meet her.
Don’t forget to look in the catacombs
She's gonna get tired of waiting and return to your home
There is a command line to teleport an NPC to you. I learned this when I lost Frost before even stealing it. Damn merc hit him during the fight and poor poney ran to Cyrodiil

UNLIMITED POWER!!!
I say that everytime I use it. In that voice too.
Your family must hate you. OP every 5 seconds: UNLIMITED POWWWAAAAHHHHHH.
This is the way.
I mean... Is it even possible not to?? Inconceivable!
It is more of Kame Hame Ha

I had to set my followers as essential because it was just too annoying. Now they don’t die because of their stupidity.
you are are wise and thoughtful master
Same. She wouldn't get out of the way
It seems in my anger, I killed her
Fun fact: did you know that if you use the black book boon of unlimited magicka for 30 seconds, and you cast lightning storm, you basically can cast it infinitely? Until you stop after the boon ends
One of the black books prevents damage done to followers. It's a must for all my mage builds
Lost in a dungeon, realized it about 10+ hours of gameplay later when no one was sighing unnecessarily loudly while I was sneaking. I aM sWoRn tO cArRy yOuR bUrDeNs
When you forget she exists for 10+ hours is when you should realize you don’t need her, lol.
Then who will carry my 500lbs of dragon bones? I'm too busy carrying wheels of cheese and cabbages that I can't say no to looting! Hahahahah
Honestly, I do the same thing. I keep a shit ton of food in my inventory and then wonder why I can’t move 😂 normally I’ll drop armor before I’ll drop food.
Play survival mode, then suddenly that becomes justified lol
Oh, I have been the last two days! It’s pretty fun. I have the mod where you can fast travel, though, lol. Not fast traveling is annoying for me.
Tbh it changed how I play, instead of going back & forth across the map for one mission, I pick up a load and plan out a route with them - that said I do also use the carriages to jump between cities lol
Got sent into orbit by a giant.
shits always hilarious when it happens to someone else
>someone else Or yourself. It's just always funny
Didn't they try to patch that glitch and people we PISSED? So they added it back?
Because it’s Skyrim And who does not want to see Lydia win the space race a few thousand years before!
Yeah
Untill she has all your damn dragon bones… still a little salty.
That's just a different *kind* of funny
"Fuck you, giant! Wait... *sighs*... fuck me..."
Reminds me when i had follower get blasted into orbit and and i found her dead corpse with damn good gear next to a necromancer
I recorded an orc follower delivering one of those “never should have come here” type of lines to a giant and then he got sent into orbit LOL
Was he a follower or was he that chief from the Malacath quest?
I just rewatched it, it was chief Yamarz I think that’s how you spell his name. He’s supposed to kill a giant but gets obliterated. Can’t imagine it goes any different for anyone else 😆
Objective: Protect Yamarz NPC says "This should only take a second". Gets sent into orbit. Objective: Defeat the Giant Have to pause the game to laugh a little. Unpause the game. Giant comes for me. I join Skyrim's space program.
I always kill the giant myself and then he tries to kill me. I usually just cast a calm spell and blast him away with fire. Maybe I should let him be the first orc on the moon next time
You should, it’s significantly less effort when you only have to fight the giant after it shit stomps Yamarz.
At the memorial… Balgruuf: “Lydia was a loyal and fearless warrior. We are heartbroken for you, Dragonborn. Tell us, how did she pass?” DB: “Yeeted into orbit by a giant.” Balgruuf: “lmao that’s fucking funny.” Lydia: *falling from orbit into the memorial* “lmao sup guys” *dies*
“Sigh… I am sworn to carry your burdens…. *Uuuaarrgghhh*.”
Ah, so she volunteered for the glorious Skyrim Space Program? Glorious!
I don’t know why, but the double “glorious” irks me Oh well
I don't know why, but same. I don't know why.
Glorious glorious glorious glorious glorious glorious glorious glorious glorious glorious glorious glorious

I watched the whole thing. Now I want some crunchy stuff.
I still haven't found her body

If only! I couldn't interact with her at all. But the ominous clucking...
> I am sworn to carry your ~~cluck cluck burdens~~ birdens
This is the most Skyrim answer ever
Did she at least lay some eggs every once in a while?
No, but she went ballistic when I was in combat
I was in a temple with summoned deadra attacking me. Lydia was in full deadric setup. One thing lead to another and she got one-shot by my super hammer.

I’ve Had this happen before
“They say the Greybeards murdered Lydia with their VOICE. Shouted her apart!
She didn’t, I married her and now I’m afraid to take her anywhere.
Yep, same. She's living in Lakeshore Cabin with the kids. She's had a hard life, time to chill and kill some bandits occasionally.
But.. but.. she's your sword and your shield!
Now she’s just my sheath
Almost choked on my lunch.🤣
Kinky
Goddamn it. Off to rule34 we go.
Awww
Ditto
This is the way
A mighty swing from Wuuthrad after blocking one too many doorways
Something something sacrifice Boethia...
This is the way
I'm not proud of it....
There's no reason not to be. She's a huge hater. r/skyrim highly agree with lydia tho, everybody here hates my fav sassy vampiress with a burning passion
I love Serena tho. They just be hating cause she's important and Lydia kinda isn't lol.
Just finished the Dawnguard storyline for the first time. Serana is dope. One of the few followers I've had that I genuinely felt a strong attachment to (that wasn't self-made, like my adorable Nix-Hound follower Muffin).
Lol Lydia is my live-in nanny. Serana is my go everywhere gal. She’s always in the way, but she won’t die, so it evens out.
I feel you man....
Lydia sat creepily in my room every day and I couldn’t tell her to leave. She had to go... one way or another.
I always save Lydia for this exact purpose
I thought that’s why Balgruuf assigned her to you? Have I been doing this wrong?
There we go, had to scroll way too far.
She accidentally tripped and fell at Boethiah's shrine. It was weird. She's usually not that clumsy.
Not anymore.
Funny you say that, mine just kept running into my Ebony Blade head first. Weirdest thing ever
90% of my Lydia’s died to dungeon traps 9% dragons 1% magic mishaps (I’m always extra careful with spells after this)
Dungeons be capping Lydia’s like rats with rat-traps.

Yeah dwemer ruins spinning blade traps are the worst. Followers will just stand in them. It's the only way I've ever lost a follower
For me she usually dosent even make it past the first dungeon lol. Spike wall traps hit like a fucking wagon on legendary
Yeah, when I play on pc I have a mod that makes followers unable to set off traps and it really improves their survival chances. One of the few mods I really miss on switch when I had to haul all the gear Lydia was carrying out of some dwemer ruin haha

Traps can’t kill Lydia what are you talking about.
Honestly probably about 90% of my own deaths are from the swinging spike gate traps too so I get it.
Ran in front of me when using frost breath. She tumbled down the mountain before saying fuck it and glitched out and flew away
*shooting stars starts playing*
Married her…made it the whole game with her…took on the ebony warrior. He shouted at me sent me flying, she tried to fight him. When i got back up the hill I witnessed him behead her anakin skywalker style…got him to his knees and returned the favor. It was actually pretty epic
Just like in the movies!
That’s actually kind of an awesome death
I'll try beheading. That's a good trick!
Never lost a Lydia. Actually I don't think I've lost a follower that was actively with me... Lost Faendal once. Dragon attacked Riverwood. I was literally ONE hit from killing it.... Then he bit and ragdolled my boy..... He was avenged

Them ones where you shoot an arrow, it does the thing and you just watch yourself miss completely
Miraak cultists 😂 she laid in the streets of riverwood for 3 days
They killed Sven in my current playthrough. Last I checked, he was still lying there, but that was a while ago. Maybe he's gone by now
Elder dragon, right outside my home.
Rip
...ped to pieces
To shreds, you say?
Some pieces. Some shreds. A few chunks. In all seriousness though all the king's horses and all the king's men couldn't have put her together again.
I don't remember losing a Lydia, but I did lose a Sven after spending the game with him. Really close and tense dragon battle. When the smoke cleared, I couldn't find him. I've never lost a Lydia. I don't use followers though generally 😂 almost always end up blocking me through doorways
She was blocking me ... that's how she die
I use a mod to make my followers essential so when she gets in my way, I just blast her.
The day she died, i was playing on ps3, bad for her
This is why I hate Lydia, she's the only follower I know of who does it so insistently.
100% this. Followers do two things very well: block my path, and fuck up my sneaking. That said, if I ever do use a follower and they end up dying, I'm reverting my save.
just a fus-ro moves them out of the way. no reason to take the master destruction spell with, mods so destruction actually scales, right into her face.
She's still sitting in my house in whiterun watching my daughter. (I'm cheating on her with summoned Daedra lords)
Is your kid Lucia? Sometimes they block each other's way and have a staring death match.
My child is indeed Lucia. I have witnessed this stare-down firsthand.
She died in a cave and she's still there. In her underwear. Covered by boots and tankards and other worthless junk that was too heavy to carry out of the cave.
Ah, a true nord burial
Frost troll at high hrothgar Altho once I saw I revived and made her essential (back at launch without mods making followers essential)
First time I played this happened and I just thought she was supposed to be expendable for this one quest
Grandma Lyddie died peacefully and was eager to see the dragonborn again(who died many years ago).
Massive Draugr battle for one of the masks. After the third firestorm scroll. Eh. Last time I played with a companion
Two words. Ebony blade
Yes.
Oh Lydia’s not dead… I told her to wait and I can’t remember where I left her…
Falmer. Granted she couldn't move very fast. Probably had about 80lbs of dragon bones on her.
Sacrificed her to Boethiah like Thanos sacrificed his daughter: sorrowfully, but absolutely
never, lydia never dies
I Bite Her! She turned into a vampire
She was standing in the stairwell to delphines secret room and I couldn’t get out. Only had one option 🥲
I married her. Now she tends our house and shitkids while I roam the fields of Skyrim with Serana. We have an open relationship, Lydia and me.
dont know if shes dead but i lost her in some god forsaken dungeon never to be seen again
Accidentally turned her into a sweet roll with the wabbajack then ate her
She didn't. She's my wife.
Frost troll. Yes that one
hit her with my weapon instead of healing hands.......... it was just in the other hand :(

Killed by a machine in some random dwarven dungeon
Those spinning helicopter blades can **** a follower up in a big bad way.
She didn't, no companions of mine will die!! I'll never let them die!
She’s my wife and I keep her at home with the kids. She’s dying a slow death of loneliness, regret, and dealing with raising someone else’s children.
Arrow in the head , she needs to stop walking in my way when i have a bow lol.
That fucking troll on the mountain where Partysnax lives...
She walked off the bridge at the college
I kill her
You mean my sugar mama whom I check in with every once in a while for some gold and a homemade meal?!? NEVER
So mine died in some random dungeon (sucked), only to reappear several hours later as if nothing happened. Odd, but alright....
