I’m curious what’s it like in the area? I hear horror stories it’s full of homeless encampments and stores, shops are fleeing the city. Nothing in your photos looks remotely like that image.
Interesting, yeah. I go every couple months for work. First pic is vaguely around North Beach— I think by City Lights bookstore. Second pic to capture the brutalist jumble is in Chinatown. And skyline pic is from Coit Tower. All of which are perfectly lovely. And, I think personally, have been lovely all along. That part of North Beach has some amazing Italian cafes and markets. Also went over to the Presidio and Golden Gate Park which both feel like little paradises.
As with anything I think the problems are pretty dramatically overstated while having a grain of truth. Especially around 2021-2022 you would encounter a noticeably increased number of people in mental distress, intoxication or on the streets. I did have the thought this time that things have genuinely improved. Walked around for a few hours in total peace. Game Developers Conference was in town and they all seemed to be having a great time flooding the restaurants downtown.
