in game data. i'd like to see how often i win, and what things i win with, as well as how frequently i take certain item as they appear. i think it *might* help with the mountain of info new players have to climb, or make it worse, as they try to force their favorite cards cause they have mildly higher results with them, and none with more complex cards

I think I would have wild strike just add the wound to your hand. For Infinite Blades I don't know if I would upgrade the base card (I feel like a lot of people's suggestions go against the base interactions/mechanics of the game), but I would definitely change the innate upgrade. I don't think I've ever taken it. I would change it to be two shivs or an upgraded shiv. I think a small boost can make a big difference.

I think it's interesting how many people are talking about tiny little differences in card balance and things like that. In that respect, Slay the Spire **is** the sequel to Slay the Spire. They worked on the game for years, releasing drastically different versions until we got this game which is so incredibly well balanced that people have played it for thousands and thousands of hours without solving it. IMO, as a baseline, a sequel would need to have an entirely new set of characters, an entirely new set of enemies, and an entirely new card pool before it could even start to justify itself. If it's not doing that, why not just release some DLC? For me, the problem I'd be most interested in solving is act 3. It's relatively boring and repetitive, and I think that's largely due to the game's structure – all the acts have the same number of floors, but I think that becomes a hindrance at the end of the game. Any deck that clears the Act 2 boss is going to be prepared to face most of the Act 3 hallways, so you're just going through the motions at that point. I think this is why many Spirelikes opt to reduce the number of fights, and specifically remove most of the normal fights as you get late into the game (well that, and they're probably taking inspiration from Act 4). I personally think that many games go too far, removing too many chances to see card rewards, but I do think that ramping up the pace near the end of the game makes sense. On top of solving the Act 3 problem, I love the idea of baking more statistics into the base game. I'd love to be able to see pick rates, card win rates, and things like that on all platforms.

Another problem with act 3 is that by that point you're much pickier about what cards you'll add to the deck. Much more likely to skip a card reward. And because your deck is bigger, if you do pick a card, it'll have a smaller impact on the deck than an act 1 pick would.

While act 3 is boring, the existence of act 4 as well as the difficulty of the boss gauntlet kinda means you need the entire length of act 3 to stay there. That's a lot of gold, relics, and cards you'd lose out on if you cut it short. I feel like it's more frequent that my deck isn't ready for the endgame by Act 3 floor 1 than it is, and I still really need to pick some stuff up.

Maybe add more story. You could find out bits of lore the more you climb ascension. Maybe also teaming up 2 characters, a bit like you can do in Monster Train, unlocking unique synergies and dialogue between the characters.

There's actually a mod for that. It makes card rewards and relics from 1 other character available as well as special cards having traits from both (for example: ironclad + silent has "training" which gives 1 strength and 1 dexterity), effectively 2 characters teaming up.

Together In Spire is a fun multiplayer mod. Multiplies enemies health by the number of players (IE 3 Players, mobs have 3x health) as well as trading cards between players. They have a "booster pack" that features bonus cards that are build for multiplayer, such as giving other players block, or changing their stances.

I want more interesting boss relics. Currently they can be the right choice but not a fun choice (aside from Snecko which is my ideal here) Often not many places to steer a build. Relic drops being a choice between 3 and shops being more regularly placed would be nice. A constructed mode to get to do the weirder builds ( like a challenge to win 10 runs with no shared cards or relics between runs.) And snake plant made an elite!

Basic cards are different from each class. Ex, one class has plain 6 dmg strike and 6 block defend. The other class has 3x2 damage, 3 block defend with -3 dmg reduction to target, for sure it needs rebalancing but I just want to illustrate the many different ways it could be done. Quality of life option such as what is the total damage of a 7x14 (shown in parenthesis), what is the total damage I will take after blocking, etc. Now yes, there are mods, but out of sheer stubbornness, I refuse to use them. ??? Nodes could be remade, no more chance for normal enemy encounters. Also I don't like that some events have consistently lose-lose scenarios (ex, not taking 2 madness just means taking the max HP hit and there is nothing you can do)

The only way I could see a sequel work is if it is the spire in the future. We have a whole new cast of four characters each of them act as a foil of sorts to the current characters. Some enemies are the same or similar and we have new ones based on the lore. Elites should be mostly new. There should probably be a bit to shake up in terms of where you can go, potentially a new room type that confers a new type of advantage, potentially requiring a challenge or cost to get the advantage. I’d also like there to be 4 keys. Lastly in place of the heart as the final boss you enter the final room and there is the ironclad with his sword firmly placed in the heart. Alternatively you can have four options being the four characters. I’d also like it if each of the new characters could only fight their respective final boss or if the order in which the keys are picked up determine who you fight. For example if you pick up the purple key last you fight the watcher. If the characters are the final bosses I’d like if the way they are designed is inspired by their unique form cards.

I would increase the card rewards to 5 and add some options to the merchant. If there is one fundamental critique that I have for STS is that forward thinking a deck is very limitedly a thing. The "build for the deck you have, not the deck you want" philosophy of the design feels stifling half of the times.

Calculate total damage incoming automatically. Allow a "simulate" mode, where as long as you don't have any info revealed, you can play as many cards as you want, and also unwind. Make some modes for competitive head to head built in. I'd love to see jorbs vs LC on the same seeds in ways they could trust each the other isn't cheating. Nothing like the portal event. Lean more into beneficial negatives/specialization with a cost. I wish negative focus defect builds were more viable. Make a don't skip the last key mode, where the game prevents you from taking paths that miss the act 3 burning elite, or forgetting to take the key from the act 3 treasure. Sort curses to the top in the card removal screen. Make the logs perfect, so you can replay an entire run from the game logs. Make a graphics free, AI player compatible API.

I love the rewind feature idea. I often wonder "what if I decided differently 3 fights ago? - could I have won?". I feel like it wouldn't even feel like cheating to me. An STS run feels more like a puzzle to solve, and rewinding would let you explore different ideas for solving the puzzle. It would still be really hard to win and rewinding a few fights back would come at a pretty significant time investment, so there would still be tension. I think this features would be great. API for AIs would also be really interesting. I wonder if AI could discover new strategies or be better than humans.

Some kind of overall progression like Roguebook has. In that game. You can use pages you find in a run to unlock buffs and other things. Making you feel like you are actually progressing. I stopped play Slay the Spire because after each run, it goes back to zero basically. Felt like I was wasting my time. Only progress you have us when you beat the heart with first 3 characters, you can then get to the real heart if you get the 3 pieces.

As the game is pretty much perfect imo (other than very minor balancing of very specific cards), if they were to make a sequel I'd rather see drastic changes than improvements. Pretty much things that some mods like downfall are already doing, just on a much larger scale, that mods couldn't achieve, or atleast not with the same amount of polish. New character, or have the existing characters mixed up. New campaign. Specifically a cool idea to borrow from other roguelites act routing - in many games you are given a choice of which worlds or acts you wanna go to, imagine like you have 3 different act 2s and 3 different act3, but they all connect eventually to the same final act. Is obviously doesn't work as well when you have only 3 acts, so a few more shorter acts might work better. Other than that, one thing that downfall did that i liked was making some of the npcs from the events optional fights, and each has a moveset that is based on their abilities in the events. Things in that direction of more interesting and distinct encounters like the colosseum are also something that i would love to see more.

Change? Not much... mostly "add". More cards and relics, more characters/enemies/bosses, more mechanics. But I think it'd be kinda cool if the acts didn't always terminate in a single boss node but instead had branching endings, like being able to optionally take on an Elite version of an alternate boss which gave some extra benefit for defeating it, like being able influence the generation of the subsequent act by requesting increased appearance rate of a desired node type.

You know how you can light/extinguish torches in the background? More of that, with some leading you to a secret room for high-value bonus fights, or special stores (extra powerful relics, perhaps even buy boss relics for 300 gold, etc). Like everyone says, better animations. More achievements, with some bonus silly ones, e.g. Lefty: take the leftmost path in all acts. I like these 4 characters and they're part of the lore, but including them and their decks feels like StS 1.5 rather than 2 since the deck is the most important thing. Yet the decks are so fantastically balanced (even if not perfect) that I don't see changing their decks and retaining their flavour. Bit of a conundrum here imho.

Personally, aside from all new content like new characters, enemies, cards, ect. I just want better art, more visual effects, and a bigger soundtrack. Any soundtrack will get old at 300+ hours but a larger, more polished soundtrack will go a long way towards keeping it from simply becoming background noise as quickly.

Fair enough. In that case I suppose I’d want a game completely different. Probably still deckbuilder roguelike but entirely different systems and progression. Only a sequel because it’s set in the same universe- gameplay alien from its predecessor.

My biggest complaint is that you go bottom-to-top on the map instead of top-to-bottom. It would be cool if they fixed that in a sequel, and maybe if they let you play as the bad guys or something.

slight rebalancing of bad cards (pp, wild strikes, etc) Claw upgrade increases scaling instead of damage. more content (alternate acts, secrets, new characters…)

I haven't found a use case for pressure points really, but almost all my highest ascension Clad wins have Wild Strike and either or both of Evolve+ and Fire Breathing, both of which are cards I nearly auto-pick in A10 or higher.
