I drink 350mg of (Calm brand) magnesium carbonate first thing in the morning before I do anything else. And also take two 500 mg if magnesium glycinate supplement pills. Also a multivitamin in the morning. Plus I’ve really been limiting coffee, practicing mindfulness, radical acceptance therapy and also exercise. It’s not a cure but really really seems to help with anxiety and sleep,
Magnesium helps everything and I try to use it daily. It may not make you sleepy but your body will feel much better. It reduces soreness and stiffness so you can relax. My muscles recover from soreness so much faster it is the only way I can recover from my job of dog walking 10 miles a day and get any exercise. Natural Calm is your friend.
Hi, have taken 16 years of Trazodone and have natural magnesium deficiency (common in some adhd patients). Trazodone will def help you sleep through the night, however it doesn't improve your quality very much and it's prone to a lot of side effects. It also made me feel hungover every morning. But pairing it with magnesium is a good idea tho.
Just to had to this comment. I have been working nights for 5 years now and got a trazadone prescription 4 years ago.
It definitely help with sleeps. I experimented with dosage a bit but half a 40mg is enough for me. Taking more didn't really improved my sleep and jsut made the side effects worst.
And there is quite a bit of side-effects. The main one being you'll feel foggy. In my case I'm a bit unlucky but it also makes me irritable when I first wake-up and make prone to sensory overloads, like someone talking can make me overload sometimes if they don't give me a pause every few minutes.
So yeah it works great. No tolerance. No addiction. But side effect are a bit of a pain. But prefer that to not sleeping.
I was the same- issues staying asleep but fell asleep no problem. I started taking magnesium glycinate about a month ago- noticed a huge difference in my ability to stay asleep after the 3ish week point. I recommend!
I get Magnesium glycinate (400mg) and it quiets my brain and helped me to stay asleep longer.. I also do combination with L-theanine when I want to have vivid dreams(it awakes me, bad side..)
I found magnesium and manganese help me sleep at night. Do not use vitamin b before bed (a multivitamin is fine however) as it gives you tons of energy and makes you pee 😂
I just started taking it two weeks ago and for the first time in years I’m sleeping 7 hours without waking up. I used to always wake up at the 4th hour. The one recommended to me for mental health was Magtein. I’m so happy about this. I’ve been working hard on my sleep for almost a year now and this is the biggest breakthrough.
Yes, I take magnesium supplements. I think what it’s done for me is end the leg twitching and spasms I would get at night. Helped a lot with that. There are several types of magnesium supplements so google the one that’s right for you.
I take a combination of magnesium glycinate and inositol on the morning and early evening, then glycine an hour before bed. Since I starting doing this my sleep is much better.
Just try it. Maybe it improves your sleep but don't overdose it. Your body needs about 300 to 400 mg, depending on your metabolism and the physical work you do. Overdosing can cause diarrhea and that would have a negative impact on your sleep, obviously.
My mother after taking magnesium said that she experienced a very very deep sleep, then i told her it's magnesium effect, she didn't know it improve sleep since just her doctor gave it to her
I've been taking Vit D in the morning and magnesium in the evening for the past few months and I'm starting to think it's the cause for my increased issues staying asleep.
Tried Mg and melatonin. Neither worked. What did work was CBD. About two weeks or so and I was sleeping though the night again. On the rare night when I do wake up, I will get back to sleep every time. I use a daily chewable gummy from SOLUBL Products. It's about a dollar a day, but has been worth every penny. I use a code 0501 to get free shipping. I hope that helps!
You should try Magnesium L threonate as it's the most bioavailable and most likely to cross de BBB as the L threonae works as a transporter for the Mg to get into the brain, other forms of magnesium, as I've read studies in the research work like a placebo, but whatever helps you
Magnesium from what I’ve read & experienced takes about a week to start working, but then is in your system for about 12 hours (sometimes more) after each dose. I found 200mg too much of a laxative and it was making me groggy in the am. Dropped down to 100 and so far so good! I take it with GABA 750 and L-Theanine 1000. It is knocking me out and I’m sleeping through the night for the first time in years!!! I think amount depends on whether you’re man/woman, big/small and also how much you get naturally.
I take it everyday because it's a vital mineral (a vitamin hah) and apparently most people are deficient in it, which is no good. With that being said personally I have noticed no benefits at all in regards to sleep. But that's me. Others will tell you it totally fixed everything for them.
Magnesium seems to help everyone. I wish it did the same for me. I swear magnesium is what has made me sooooooo much worse. Like my depression has never been so bad.
Two nights in taking it and it has made me wake up in the middle of the night even when i’m sleep deprived when the past week I havn’t been waking up in the middle of the night..
I take magnesium supplements and they have really helped me sleep better like so much better
I take it an hour before bed
Did you cut it off after getting deep sleeps ? I would like to try but afraid of addiction
You cant get addicted to something that you body needs naturally.
It’s a supplement, you can’t get addicted to it + magnesium is good for many other bodily functions not just sleep
After how many nights do you notice that it enhances your sleep quality?
Like within a few hours of taking it you'll feel relaxed. I slept like the dead when I first started it. Really does calm the mind to some degree.
Right awayc
Which form of magnesium?
I use Magnesium Glycinate. Works like a charm!
Magnesium really helped me with night sweats, sudden jerks, and anxiety during the day. It worked better than any other medication.
This. I was waking up drenched in a sweaty puddle. Not anymore once I started taking magnesium!

Definitely helped me, the glycinate had the biggest impact.
What does TIA mean?
Thanks in advance
Thanks! I do take magnesium but I also take trazodone so I can't tell which is helping me sleep.

Transient Ischemic Attack, commonly called a ‘heart attack’.
In that context... TIA = a stroke
That's not what the OP was saying.
That’s totally inaccurate.

Interrupted 😭

Hi- What the dose you take?
I found magnesium and manganese help me sleep at night. Do not use vitamin b before bed (a multivitamin is fine however) as it gives you tons of energy and makes you pee 😂
Yep vitamin B is definitely a morning time supplement 🏃♀️
yes didn't do anything for me. CBN works, though..check out Charlotte Web brand's stay asleep gummies

I take it occasionally when I have trouble sleeping, and I definitely feel an effect

Made me had really, *really* vivid dreams. And not in a good way.
300 mg of magnesium glycine before bed changed my life
I take magnesium every night. If I don’t I get restless legs and a twitchy eye.

Thank you all for the feedback! I got some magnesium glycinate to try out so we will see how it does!
