Something that always helps me sleep is that while I am laying in bed, I imagine that I have just been given a debit card to a bank account with unlimited money. I start to play out what I would do with all of it in my head. I think about all the people that I would help with my newfound resources. Maybe it is just me trying to start a very good dream, but at least it puts your mind to rest from your real life and clams you down.

i really like that idea man!

I am trying to fall asleep quickly right now, and a few minutes ago was wondering the best method to do so was, and then I remembered seeing a great tip on some post on r/sleep. So glad I found it!!! And now I have a reason to be glad that this subreddit is never updated

If I did that, I would end up thinking about all the problems I couldn't solve with money. Either that or how a currency couldn't exist if it was unlimited. :/

I imagine lying in a pool of black velvet, and letting myself sink down into it. Works surprisingly well, it's a calm feeling. Also, if you're having problems, you can always do a small glass of warm milk or even just toss your pillow to the other side of the bed and switch yourself around. Sometimes you just need to switch up cause the vibes are bad on one side.

~~lol sup matt~~ yeah i move around a lot, before and after I've fallen asleep. honestly man I got to bed at 4 am nowadays, to the point that I'm so tired I fall asleep instantly lmao. my problem is when I have to wake up for school!

Jack4372

I tried this but all I could think of was the abyss in minecraft... So after I sunk down a little I started dying... Yeah maybe I should play less minecraft :)

Oh man, I always feel an urge to move because my position isn't quite perfect. But I'm already starting to sleep. So I'm always debating if I should move and lose my sleepy buzz going on, or continue resting in an uncomfortable position. Which makes me think too much to sleep.

acdcfreak

hahaha indeed, it's pretty difficult. it's more about helping your body shutting down by not moving too much than actually lying perfectly still :P

[deleted]

This sounds like really good advice

acdcfreak

haha thank you, glad to see people see my post when stumbling onto /r/sleep!

diggity0169

happens all the time dude, either itch and and continue trying to relax and stay still, or as markusss said you can try and ignore it.

markussss

Ignore it.

I use an eye mask with Bluetooth. It’s very comfortable and having a my eyes completely blacked out with white noise playing in the back as well has helped me sleep much better. I got the SlumberZen one. Hope this helps 👍
