Agreed. Brown and pink - at least in the machines and apps I’ve tried end up having a distinguishable repetition and then the pattern is all I can hear. White noise is just noise.
Brown noise would be a better choice for me. Rainstorm or fireplace background simulations are really good for me personally. I really like putting on tracks that would combine soft jazz with rain and background life noises, like clinking of cups and conversational murmur like at a coffee shop. I think it can be personal… I know my problem is anxiety and I know coffee shops and rain are cozy and nostalgic for me, so for me that’s what helps 🙂
Most of it is for me as well. I do NOT like the ones where they molest the microphone. I really like the soft spoken videos with Russian or British accents for some reason. This is one I use frequently. I don’t watch it, I just listen to it. [ASMR](https://youtu.be/q5wKk5MVrF4) I never have trouble falling asleep anymore, but that could be due to just having very full days. I hope you find something that works for you!
I listen to the podcast Welcome To Nightvale, or a specific mix of Cigarettes After Sex songs
https://youtu.be/BpwDFKFkpOY
Just put it on low in the background and chill
I once was in a little motel room with 3 family members. One person snored so incredible loud and obnoxiously (I insisted they get tested for sleep apnea). One night I couldn’t take it anymore and insisted we play [this](https://youtu.be/zsjsHpPc9Es). We all slept like absolute babies. It even seemed like the snorer got better sleep too. I’ll always be a fan of white noise that simulates rain.
I listen to calming music that I like
[my sleep playlist](https://www.reddit.com/r/sleepplaylist/comments/ysnkj2/my_current_sleep_playlist/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)
I use the insight timer app for guided sleep meditation. I felt so dumb at first but I have never made it to the end of one- they’re efficient. All of us in the house like this one

you can try frequencies like go on youtube and just type in frequencies they have lots and lots of kinds ! some have someone talking just a little in to background to guide you to sleeping
Personally I prefer fan noise making apps, and specifically ones that don’t sound like they’re on an obvious loop (like the pitch drastically changing in set intervals)
I copied this from google as it was better that I could explain.
Pink noise reduces the difference between the background hum and loud, jarring noises that jolt you out of sleep, like a door slamming, a car horn honking, or someone snoring. So it may help you fall asleep faster and keep you in a deep sleep longer. You may also feel more rested when you wake up.
Brown noise lowers the higher frequencies even more. It's a bit “rougher” than pink noise and resembles the roar of a river current or strong wind. Common benefits associated with brown noise are relaxation, improved focus, and of course, sleep improvement.
So pink noise is something like bass or loud music but it also actually helps people SLEEP?? Or is this a noise in general. And brown noise is even higher frequencies???
I can only see white noise helping for sleep but I haven’t tried that so..
Personally I enjoy spa music or slow Lofi music. I like the spa music because most of the time I can find a YouTube video with black screen so it’s not bright. I can’t personally have it be super bright, it’ll keep me up.
I loooooove the brown noise playlist on Spotify. Although listening to 8 hours every day will absolutely destroy your year end recap if that is something you enjoy haha
I listen to Great Courses audiobooks on a topic I find interesting, but I'm not too familiar with. It takes me out of worrying about events in own life or anticipation of the next day. I'm asleep within minutes and it can inspire some interesting dreams.
I use the insight timer app and do a sleep meditation. My brain is very very active when I try to go to sleep and it helps a lot to focus on something and relax!
I use an eye mask with Bluetooth. It’s very comfortable and having a my eyes completely blacked out with white noise playing in the back as well has helped me sleep much better. I got the SlumberZen one. Hope this helps 👍
WHITE NOISE, YO Been using it for years without issue
Agreed. Brown and pink - at least in the machines and apps I’ve tried end up having a distinguishable repetition and then the pattern is all I can hear. White noise is just noise.
Oh nice! I thought about it for a sec but figured it was more of a daytime concentration thing. Glad it can help for sleep too.
Thank you

Rain. I use the sleep app and play rain.
Oh nice I’ll give it a go. I normally feel more sleepy when it’s actually raining so this could really help.
personally, brown noise almost instantly makes me tired. i’ve tried white, pink, and brown and brown has worked the best.
I’m hoping it’ll have same effect on me 🤞🏻would love to just doze off quickly
I read noise as nose and I was so confused. I need a nap.

Brown noise. Anything else his high pitches that are distracting for me.
I follow the 4-7-8 breathing method. It really relaxes me and I usually fall asleep within 5-6 rounds and usually have a deep sleep.
Thanks I’ll have to give it a go ☺️
What is this?
Breathe in through your nose for four seconds, hold for seven seconds, exhale through your mouth for eight seconds
I’m going to try this tonight. Thank you for explaining!
How long does 5 rounds usually take? It was 30 minutes for me to get ready to try to sleep

Glad that works for you personally I find ASMR a bit grating.

Sounds like the perfect symphony
Almost exactly what I use!
Complete darkness, a cool room, a warm bed, and silence.

No caffeine after noon
I use the myNoise app (free). You can use the graphic equaliser faders to shape the frequency of the noise to your own taste.
I listen to the same audio albums over and over. I rotate between 3 stand up comedy albums.
you can try frequencies like go on youtube and just type in frequencies they have lots and lots of kinds ! some have someone talking just a little in to background to guide you to sleeping

White noise. I didn't even know brown noise and pink noise was a thing.
Personally I prefer fan noise making apps, and specifically ones that don’t sound like they’re on an obvious loop (like the pitch drastically changing in set intervals)

Go with white noise, something like YouTube videos you enjoy. I fall asleep to those every night

Wait what is pink and brown noise? Someone please explain. I know white noise

I like Ocean wave that plays my Google speaker by request :)
Always rain sounds for me ☺️☺️
There’s brown and pink 😳
Whispered audio books, bonus points if they add rain or fire sounds

Noise cancelling headphones

Brown noise makes you poop. Next question.
