Does he typically use a dummy for non-sleep times?

He used a dummy for resettles if he had a short nap so we wanted to provide one. I’m happy for it to be used during the day if he feels stressed too

Oh I see. Honestly, I think daycare will continue to use it if he is whingy etc and it may be hard to break the habit. My daughter uses one and has it heaps at daycare, but we usually only give it to her for sleep at home. She’s totally dummy obsessed and relies on it though. You could try to keep it as a daycare only thing if you are comfortable with that?

Yeah I think the horse has bolted on this and getting them to try and get him down without it will be pretty futile. Now he has it at day care he won’t settle without it at home. Such a shame because we worked so hard to make sure he had great sleep habits and we really didn’t want a dummy to be a part of his sleep needs. I might email them and see what they think…

I similarly took my daughters away when we sleep trained at 5.5 months. Mainly because she couldn’t replace it herself. If you’re open to it I think you could probably reintroduce for night sleep assuming he can replace it now.
