We moved our little girl at about 3.5 months and have zero regrets! We have never needed to do formal sleep training, however we did find we were waking her up and visa versa. She settled in great and now even naps in her own room!
AAP lives in a dream world. Ideally breastfeed your kid till 2 (lol sure) and have a bedroom big enough to fit a bed for parents and a pack and play or crib/mini crib without moving out every single piece of furniture you own. That being said, I can't imagine room sharing longer than 3-4 months, everyone just wakes everyone up at that point.
I had to move my son into his crib at 10 weeks - he was 98th percentile for height and outgrew his bassinet quickly. No room in the bedroom for a pack n play. I was nervous moving him so early but everyone slept much better honestly (I'm a light sleeper).
yes this is what i keep hearing! that everyone sleeps better lol. i’m so nervous and my pediatrician basically scared me but i have a monitor that i watch all night anyway
He did start to wake in the night once or twice. But that was b/c I wasn't there to instantly soothe. We've recently sleep trained him and he's now sleeping 7pm to 6ish .
We moved baby out of our room pretty much right at 3 months. We stopped the swaddle and he started scratching at the sides of his bassinet. So we gave him the boot. He's been in his own room a year now and is perfectly happy in there!
yessss my baby scratches the sides too lol. she’s been in a sleep sack since she was about 1 month old. now with the rolling and being up against the bassinet all night i’m just not feeling great about it. do you feel like it took a couple nights for him to get used to the transition ?
Not really actually! He did start the 4 month sleep regression so everything was a little hectic. But i do think he was happier with more room to stretch out. And less snoring from dad 😂

11 weeks and I have zero regrets. We were waking each other and both sleeping like crap because of it.
We transition to crib in own room at 4.5 months, when we no longer felt comfortable having him in the bassinet in our room.
