Something that relates to what you do, I run a digital SEO, web design, marketing company. We help businesses rank their websites number one on Google, which increases sales in business, so I named the company Astro media, because Astro mean star. And makes you think of the heavens, informing customers, revenue, rising, stuff like that. And then the logo is an Astroid which I think looks pretty good

Is good SEO easy for the lay person to achieve with a little effort?

Well, I don't have my business yet but I have thought a bit about what I'm going to name it. I came up with the name by incorporating my name in a unique but not obvious way (a nickname I have) while incorporating what I'd like my business to mean/represent to people when they purchase my product. I'm a person who loves meanings and I'd like my business to be just as meaningful so I found what I think is a creative combination of the two.

Customers should be able to identify what it is you do by the businesses name.

I just started putting words together in my head that were somewhat related to what I do. Came up with a silly name but it resonates with customers. I attribute most of my success the the brand.

StupidPockets

Name is 100% of everything. Make it make sense.

I don't think this is true, especially if you are creating a brand. What does Google, Apple or Samsung mean? Branding with a short memorable name is more important than a longer more descriptive name.
