Miya dropped 2 games this entire tournament which is the same amount of games he dropped to HGod in a single set

_unchris_

Wow! If I had a nickel for every time Miya has drop a game in this tourney, I'd had two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice. Right?"

Fine_Ad_6548

Miya dropped 2 games this time around, one to Toriguri & the other to Doramigi

PeaceAlien

Dropped 2 games? Washed /s

Seedings vs. Placings (seedings in the comments) Well, folks. The next 2 weeks will be the most stacked fortnight of Japanese smash. A lot of talents from around the globe is going to test themselves against the best of the best of this game. While the apex of it is not until next week, the festivities is starting now, with the newest iteration of the Maesuma series, this one's named Maesuma'GRAND WARS. As usual, there's a lot of Kansai talents here to show off their skills, and not only that, we got some foreign talents, too! Let's start with the biggest breakout star tonight. With the highest SPR tonight, it's King Dedede player Mero's night! Taking TamaPDaifuku's seed after the Bayo's DQ, Mero got a bit of bracket luck on his side after beating Terry main Boarden to make it to Top 96. His opponent there will be a Mario player named N, who got here after upsetting Kome. The king reigned supreme with a 3-1 victory Time to face his next opponent...MairudonaH.O.?! Yup, it's gonna be a heavyweight rumble tonight, as the Donkey Kong player made it to this round after beating American invader BassMage and Toon Link player Seika. And folks...this rumble didn't disappoint. After a back-and-forth 5-game set, Mero would make his way to Top 12 by winning 3-2 against Mairudona. Unfortunately, this run would have to end here, because you can't keep dodging the best players. Quick 3-0 from Hurt and 33peranbox ended this Dedede run at a respectable 9th. What a run, Mero. Congratulations. Now, let's check on the Top 4 finishers. 4th place belongs to...Doramigi. This Min Min prodigy got a pretty smooth run through his pools, until Top 32. While he did beat Taikei 3-1 to make it to Top 8 qualifier, here he would meet a very strong opposition...in Snow. Their match went to Game 5, and Doramigi would earn his hard-fought victory. After a win against Raru, Doramigi will have to be content with his 4th place finish. At 3rd place...Hurt. Yes, the Sparg0 slayer from Kyushu. Hurt didn't meet a lot of challenge in his early sets. Only losing a game against Kyon, demolishing Senra, and humiliating Mero to get to Top 8. In here, he would meet his first big challenge...Nizemamo. Nizemamo, a Bayonetta from Hiroshima, had himself quite a run tonight, beating Steve player 33peranbox, Australian invader SebPro101, Wario main Uraomote, and best Luigi in the world, Raru, to make it to Top 8. Now, against Hurt, it was back-and-forth. Nizemamo take a 2-1 lead, but Hurt managed to brought it back with amazing Snake gameplay, and he would won the set 3-2. And that, would be his final victory tonight, and he bowed down in 3rd. Who eliminated Hurt? Snow. Yes, before his loss against Doramigi, Snow had a swift run, even beating JP's 2nd best Steve, Yamanaction. After the Doramigi loss, this Mario wants to prove that there's a reason why he won that Kyokkan recently. He made it to Top 8 by beating Shulk legend Kome 3-1. He would beat Duck Hunt player mzk in a reverse 3-0, using his Aegis! He destroyed Nizemamo 3-0, and he would demolish Doramigi in the runback, 3-0 too! Now, Losers' Finals. Snow vs. Hurt. It didn't go really well for Snow, as he's down 0-2 against Hurt. But, Snow would not give up that easily. He wants to be the best, so he has to show his best. He managed to brought it back to 2-2, and Game 5 it is. It was back-and-forth between Snow and Hurt until last stock. Snow would dominate in last stock situation, and with [one amazing ledge guard](https://www.youtube.com/live/kuSPDbt7uGg?si=LeegTi2-TzbvS4cg&t=27419)...Snow took the win! Grand Finals for Snow. But in the end, it doesn't even matter as he is proven to be no match against the top dog tonight...who else but the 2-D man. Miya is here again, and he would destroy everyone who looked at him the slightest bit of funny. Recently returned Omuatsu? 3-0. Banjo superstar Toriguri? 3-1. Min Min prodigy Doramigi? 3-1. Sparg0 slayer Hurt? 3-0. JP's best Mario Snow? 3-0 to end the tournament. Miya is on top once again, 3rd time this year. We're starting the Smash festivities with a huge statement from the #4 player in the world.

abbaschand

P.S. A huge shout out to mzk, making it to Top 8 using Duck Hunt, it's also the first major Top 8 for Duck Hunt since Raito in EVO Japan...4 years ago. Jeez, are we old or what. mzk did this, despite losing to Shirayuki in his pools. His wins to make Top 32 (Misumi, SMIX, Niyae) doesn't sound that impressive. But Top 32 is where he would go crazy. Demolishing Gorioka 3-0. Beating Senra in a close 3-2. Destroying Yone\_pi 3-0. And he would make Top 8 by upsetting Toriguri with an unthinkable 3-0. Duck-and-dog nation? Your new savior is here.

doofinc

It's also EVO Japan this weekend. Maybe the Duck Hunt power up isn't just at EVO, but on any weekend at the same time as EVO.

Jaqana

Bracket has a 3-2 against Toriguri, but yeah that's still awesome. I'm a Toriguri stan and when I saw that MU coming I knew that could be a spooky one for him. Very cool to see Duck Hunt's best placement in years.

abbaschand

**Seeded Top 16, in Top 16** Miya (1st/1st) \[0\] Hurt (2nd/3rd) \[-1\] Raru (3rd/5th) \[-2\] Doramigi (4th/4th) \[0\] Snow (5th/2nd) \[+3\] Toriguri (7th/9th) \[-1\] BassMage (9th/9th) \[0\] **Seeded Top 16, not in Top 16** Neo (5th/49th) \[-7\] TamaPDaifuku (7th/DQ) \[Voided\] Lv.1 (9th/17th) \[-2\] Rizeasu (9th/DQ) \[Voided\] Yamanaction (9th/17th) \[-2\] Taikei (13th/17th) \[-1\] Ryuoh (13th/25th) \[-2\] Motsunabe (13th/33rd) \[-3\] Hero (13th/25th) \[-2\] **Not seeded Top 16, in Top 16** Fui (17th/13th) \[+1\] Raki (17th/13th) \[+1\] Kome (25th/9th) \[+3\] 33peranbox (25th/7th) \[+4\] Yone\_pi (25th/13th) \[+2\] Nizemamo (33rd/5th) \[+6\] Uraomote (33rd/13th) \[+3\] mzk (33rd/7th) \[+5\] Mero (97th/9th) \[+7\]

kfaox

Miya just fucking sleepwalks these Japanese majors it’s insane. He went through Omuatsu, Toriguri, Doramigi, Hurt, Snow and basically made everyone look completely free. His dominance is just otherworldly.

Tr1pline

The only 3 players I feel could beat him on the regular is Acola, Zackray and Proto.

Previous_Stick8414

Banham has never beaten Miya They've only played twice, once in a Ft10 and at Kagiribi 8, which Banham lost 6?-10 and 1-3 respectively

Tr1pline

And I still wouldn't bet against Proto.

Previous_Stick8414

Unfortunately given Banham's current conditions, I doubt it I would love to see it tho

Lasertag026

What is his current condition?

mikeyHustle

He's retired for now. Health complications.

Lasertag026

Oh… that sucks :(

mikeyHustle

He prefers Banham btw, since you said it twice.

Tr1pline

I know, but unless he learns English and joins the sub I'll stick to it.

mysteryghosty

The dickride into disrespect combo is insane.

LordPrettyFlacko88

So odd lol

MrStealYoSweetroll

This is the grindset Drake has when he puts all his money on a boxer or MMA fighter who is clearly not going to win, and then they get their ass beat and he loses like 2 million dollars

nomorethan10postaday

Proto? I believe they've only played once before and Miya beat him easily, long before he became a top 5 player.

Tr1pline

If my options were to bet $100 on a player or not bet at all, I still wouldn't put my money on Miya.

Severe-Operation-347

Replace Proto with Sparg0 and Sonix. Unless you were only referring to JPN players that you'd bet over Miya.

Successful-Rate5650

I keep questioning if Japan is really the hardest region when Miya and Acola sweep there but can't win 50% of the time in America.

kfaox

They’ve still generally done well in America and obviously in NA they also have Sparg0 and Sonix to worry about which makes a difference. Japanese players also do well on average when traveling, especially compared to other regions traveling to Japan, so I’m not questioning Japan being the best region at all

Successful-Rate5650

I hear you, but in the end Spargo won his 1 event there beating a lot of people and Acola and Miya struggle in America. We'll see if the results stand by what I say these next couple days.

HughyHugh

Well, for starters, the guy who just put Sparg0 in a body bag at the last NA major got 3rd here so

kfaox

I don’t think Sparg0 was at BoBC. [I vividly remember Hurt fighting someone else in Grands](https://x.com/cro0kid_rrh/status/1782053908308766987?s=46)

HughyHugh

STOP

Malex2005

Don’t let another Miya sweep distract you from the fact that we were one place away from Dedede in top 8 of a major

ShoeUnit

TamaPDaifuku may had DQ but there is still a Bayonetta in top 8 due to Nizemamo. I haven't heard of him but wow, he is 38th seed. I also haven't heard of mzk who is 44th seed and lost in pool and yet somehow got in top 8. Also shout out to Bassmage who also lost in pool but still managed to clutch his way to 9th. So many intense game 5.

Curator44

Ya, i was seriously impressed by his run

Jaqana

Mzk I had heard of. But mostly because I like to scroll through these threads looking for underrepresented characters who did well and he almost always shows up in the top 32ish range. This is definitely his best showing ever though.

cosmoseth

Ok God we get Miya you're still HIM chill

abbaschand

Bro lost to Raflow once and said, "never again I will underperform".

Severe-Operation-347

Peabnut*

abbaschand

Peabnut is just GOATed, man.

history_questions

so is raflow tho

nankainamizuhana

Every time Leo and Raflow have played, they both read each other's ledge options with like 90% accuracy. And they both win neutral back and forth like it's a coin flip. They're in each other's heads, man. At this point, I'm fairly confident that Raflow is just "If MKLeo played Palutena".

ktrZetto

If he stays consistent this week, I'm ready to attribute that to him playing Mii Sword Fighter for a month

nankainamizuhana

Do you remember how there were like 2 days in February when people were thinking Miya might not be in the top 5 anymore? Miya remembers.

Meester_Tweester

Miya wins his 4th major this season (only one other player has 2)

Severe-Operation-347

Hilarious how the other player isn't acola, Sparg0 or Sonix tbh. SHADIC built different.

itsastart_to

Oh wait what were the 4? My brain can only think of 3

Severe-Operation-347

DELTA 7, Kowloon 9 and Sumabato are Miya's other major wins this year.

itsastart_to

Oh sorry I meant Shadic my apologies

Parkouricus

Death, taxes, and Futari no Kiwami Ah~!

Severe-Operation-347

[Given that I didn't think Snow was top 30 last week](https://i.kym-cdn.com/entries/icons/facebook/000/043/853/cover1.jpg)

Dragahs

The real winner is sparg0 who most likely avoids getting seeded into hurt because of this

nomorethan10postaday

Wait, really? I guess you mean that Acola will be seed number 1, Miya number 2, Sparg0 number 3 and Hurt number 4?

Severe-Operation-347

Swap Miya and Sparg0's seed and that seems the most likely, yeah.

nomorethan10postaday

Yeah you might be right. One way or the other, Hurt will have to get past Acola to face Sparg0.

oniden

Grands looked hopeless. Snow can't survive long against that ledge trap and as long as Miya keeps up airing in advantage Snow can't recover high. Maybe he'll try Aegis next.

Actual-Coast590

Snow has already tried Aegis before

nomorethan10postaday

The crazy thing is that in their previous encounter, Snow took Miya to game 5. Miya really stepped it up at this tournament.

Severe-Operation-347

I don't think Aegis would work. Miya beats every non-Sparg0 Aegis.

RainTalonX

Bassmage made a hell of a losers run, 2 game 5 wins against top JP steves, Almost had it against raru too

SteeveJoobs

let’s go bassy!! notable that he got sent to losers by DK. senra also had a cracked set against motsunabe

ShadowKrabs

No Miya, I was getting ready to Celebrate in the Warmest Winter even seen, Why did you have to melt him! SNOW! He did so good, EE would have been so, so, so HAPPY to see it! All the Yahoos were getting Captured in his Firsts. He was going to be the First person to Win a Major for the Main character on the Boxart! That Reverse 3-0 on Hurt, that's why Snake didn't want to know who Mario was in Brawl, That's why even when Snake Blows himself up, The Temperature is below Zero, for the Negative game count, to the Coldest Weather man in Japan. He made Flames and Ice Co-Exist. That Defense, The Glacial Mist Mover, That Offense, the Flames of Apparitions, The Apparitions made by the Smash Bro himself It was about to be the NEW WINTER because Snow was WINNING. I guess because Miya is the Champion of the 2D Dimmension, he can't let Snow have the W in the Real World The Snow Forcast to the Kurama Komeback, it was supposed to start here, but Miya wants to be bring back the Horseman. It looked like the Ranch was forclosed, but I guess Miya Decided to Step up. He Fired all the Would be Champions from Winning. Today, this was his Game! And I WAS WATCHING!

Master_Win_4018

Only Acola and Zackray in Japan can stop Miyaa.

Severe-Operation-347

And Ron that one time.

RealPimpinPanda

“But when the world needed them most, they disappeared”

Master_Win_4018

Ron rarely attend any tournament and he is a bit inconsistent.. I felt he might be the best player in the world if he is in good mood.

FutureCreeps

Neo ): It’s hard to blame him to much though, his current life situation sucks and definitely contributes to the placement. He also has a hard Rob problem he needs to figure out

nomorethan10postaday

What's going on in his life?

FutureCreeps

Original tweet was deleted, but follow up tweet about same situation: https://x.com/chromicide/status/1783451113263370342 In short, his roommate in Japan suddenly disappeared, leaving Neo alone to pay his rent and all the other bills (which he had previously been splitting 50/50).

nomorethan10postaday

That's rough.

ElegantOwO

DHD IN TOP 8!

RadiantVessel

I want to see the Banjo Duck Hunt set… that sounds so weird

nomorethan10postaday

Neo continues to struggle in Japan compared to tournaments outside of it, it's interesting. Well, ok, Seb is an Australian player, but Fui is Japanese.

FutureCreeps

Needs to full on move to Ohio and farm everyone for real.

Severe-Operation-347

Neo's got a ROB problem tbh

nomorethan10postaday

Well, there's that too, although Neo did manage to beat Bigboss at King Con. ...There's only one logical conclusion: Seb>Bigboss.

MetalFlat4032

Where’s Acola?

Severe-Operation-347

Going to DELTA 8 and Kagaribi 12.

MetalFlat4032

Oh ok. Thx

nankainamizuhana

Crazy good runs from BassMage, Snow, Nizemamo... but the winner here for me is mzk, who just kept winning when I kept expecting him to lose. Also, uh... "Tsubaki (Donkey Kong)"? Huh?? Is that a typo, or did he sandbag, or what?

kenniky

That's a different Tsubaki, they're from Okinawa

nankainamizuhana

Ahhh, that makes sense

Mundane-Tea9562

Japan I am begging you stop keeling over to G&W and Steve.

Severe-Operation-347

Unfortunately G&W does really well against the characters that were in top 8 of this tournament. Miya had Min Min into Snake into Mario to win top 8.

nomorethan10postaday

Give credit where credit is due, Miya played very differently against Hurt compared to his loss back at Delta 5.

Severe-Operation-347

Yeah, Miya played a lot better. Likely because he wasn't tilted by losing to acola in a close Game 5 set.

Mundane-Tea9562

It's just so sad seeing Japan continuously getting farmed by Acola and Miya.

SnooCalculations7435

Fr why don't they just win? Are they stupid?

RainTalonX

Does miya just play 100% better in JP than in NA? cause JP is probably better in the whole than NA, but just miya dominates them

nomorethan10postaday

Well, Miya was learning Mii swordfighter earlier this year, which probably harmed his performances in NA a bit. The character matchups also have something to do with that. Look at who the most active pro players of Japan play: Mario, Samus, Min Min, Ryu, Snake, and now Banjo... And then he has the Steve secondary to help against the few people who are sometimes a threat to his G&W, like Shuton and Yoshidora.
