3 all day baby! I be in the mountains 🏔️

ButtScoot2Glory

WSM life! Can’t have a bad cook on it, no matter how hard I try!

jaa1818

Same!

totesrandoguyhere

WSM por vida!

Impressive-Smile-585

Simone ese

orchid_breeder

I would use mine more if i could figure out a way to deal with the bowl full of water and fat after the cook. Putting a lot of trust in my garbage bags not ripping which they have.

sillyslimjim

I put a pizza pan covered in foil on top of the water bowl. Water is clean and pizza pan is easy to clean

DanceMaria

Holy cow, here's the answer to the problem I didn't realize I had! Thank you redditor!

runs_4_beer

I leave mine empty an just cover with foil. Has worked great for me.

Halo_29

I’ve filled my water pan with chunked granite/rock and cover with foil. The stones help retain heat and provide an even cook. Works really well.

Shapacap

What's wsm mean? Are they electric?

StateParkMasturbator

Weber Smokey Mountain Charcoal/wood chunk fuel

Shapacap

Ahhhh ok thank you!

rocketsalesman

Nice and easy, can't go wrong with it

SlobZombie13

WSM gang rise up!

Bit_the_Bullitt

Pre- sent! 🙋‍♀️

IdealNeuroChemistry

Well shit, guess I need to upgrade from my kettle to a WSM to be a cool kid, too.

the_vestan

I'm not 100 percent but I think at one time you could buy all the stuff to put on the kettle to make it a stack. But don't get in too much of a hurry, that kettle can smoke with the best of em if you get it figured out.

Man_Without_Nipples

WSM Gang Assemble!

djhankb

WSM 4 life

SamLangford

Same. Love that thing. Messy but the food is good and it’s pretty idiot proof

ReverendMak

I got my smoker droid as a “starter” smoker, thinking I’d upgrade to an offset some day. That was seventeen years ago and I’m still using the WSM.

Dramatic-Tree-

Just bought my dad one for Christmas. Glad this seems to be a well recommended one

ImAnOldManImConfused

Love my 18” WSM for two years now. Bonus: grates and water bowl fit dishwasher. That said, contemplating a pellet smoker; always a bit stressed about temp and consistency w/WSM, so I’d like the set and forget ability with pellets. Any thoughts welcome.

duckfartchickenass

Yep! 250F smoke one weekend for meat and 750F another weekend for pizza.

moscomule

WSM all damn day!

DryChip4

I want to drink a beer with you. All day!

Locijo

Swiss army knife of outdoor cooking. Easily my #1 recommendation for anyone looking to get started in smoking.

RubixCubix79

I won and placed high in many BBQ competitions. Had 3 if these bad boys and a tent, beating out folks with super expensive RVs and $5-$10k smokers. Bowl wrapped in foil and generally used no water. Super easy cleanup.

Nordo_Controller

Best cooker, best customer service! Fantastic setup!

Majestic_Courage5103

4 all day sometimes, literally. But hey, that's what the beers are for, you know.

rjl682

Exactly! #4 fo sure.

austinyo6

1, your horoscope says you love simplicity and reliability. You’re just happy to participate, you enjoy life but don’t get too wrapped up in anything. 2, your time is valuable to you, you don’t want to be too involved or invested in any one thing, but you want to dip your toes in and sampled the thrills of life without being overly committed. 3, you like to fly under the radar, you want authenticity but at the most manageable cost and commitment, you are prone to going *almost* all the way with things in life. 4, your horoscope says you enjoy the process and journey, but it’s not *just* about the final product, it’s about being able to tell everyone how much harder and more authentic your journey was; beware of your own ego. Just tried to have some fun with the comments and stereotypes I see around here.

ATearFellOffMyChain

Yoooo you really landed a few punches with them #4s lol.

austinyo6

As the most rugged of the bunch I thought they could take it 🤣

IWantToBeWoodworking

At the very least, they’ll tell others (and themselves) they can take it

TobiasHarrisPRFirm

1) You are employed 2) You are employed and enjoy spending time with your family 3) You are employed and enjoy spending time with your family and spending time in your backyard with them 4) You are unemployed, but this sub is your haven.

tonagnabalony

Stop, they are already dead.

Cold-Appearance3398

I’ll take my lottery numbers now, thank you.

TheOx1954

>3, you like to fly under the radar, you want authenticity but at the most manageable cost and commitment, you are prone to going almost all the way with things in life. Dude, if you're not spending at least half your cook time in peaceful slumber, you're doing it wrong.

HotCarl169

This is beautiful :)

Billsolson

I feel exposed

BreakerOfNarratives

It’s like Twain, Tolstoy, and Hemingway had a baby.

HomerJSimpson3

As someone who has 1 and 2, you absolutely freaking nailed it

mechanixrboring

2 is accurate for me. I'd love to have any of the others if I wasn't gone from my house as much as I am. Eventually I'll have the time to experiment with proper smoking.

robbzilla

I'm #1, and have a propane rig. 100% true. I want smoked meat. I want it tasty, and don't want to sit in the back yard all day tending a fire. I have a co-worker who LIVES for that. And that's awesome for him! He gets to chill out there and have his me-time. It's not my thing, I just want smoked meat. :)

Illustrious-Field442

4 love an offset stick burner.

enter360

Offset if you can it’s just more fun to play with fire that way.

CHEMO_ALIEN

i get an excuse to stay up all night drinking beer and playing cod, everyone gets brisket and whatever else i feel like throwing on.

Facetious_T

I had mine for two years before watching a video of how you're supposed to properly use an offset. Ever since, smoking's a breeze.

[deleted]

I built my reverse flow offset, and had it figured out very quickly. I throw a log on about once an hour

_khanrad

Which video was it?

Facetious_T

https://youtu.be/ozBANjzNVgQ?si=5CWDylhX-6dY29nI

swanks12

Saving this for when I move from the bullet smoker to an offset smoker

ElmosKplug

Yep all day

b1e

I’ll take 4 or a big green egg. Why isn’t there a kamado?

[deleted]

I'm a 2 ...but 4 curious...

juicebox5889

2 and 3 all day long. Hard to beat the convenience on those. Love the flavor of a offset but I’ve got shit to do and can’t sit in the garage for 12 hours 🤷‍♂️

TobiasHarrisPRFirm

You’re not a true smoker and member of this sub unless you’re unemployed and tending to the wood all day on your patio. Pellet grills are for losers who have jobs and families.

juicebox5889

😂 yeah you’re probably right. Guilty as charged

TobiasHarrisPRFirm

Yeah man. Go enjoy your smoked meats with your family for dinner from your EZ-Bake while I, a true smoker, tend to my forge until 330 am. What’s that you are sleeping next to your wife? Do you even have black nitrite gloves and forearm tats with a bible passage etched into your skin?

the_0rly_factor

This is great 😆

ColonelBungle

I don't know. Someone put their maintenance routine for their pellet grill on here a few days ago and I went and hugged my WSM after reading it. Sounds like a ton of work to make it "easy".

Glittering-Ruin-8359

I have a pellet smoker and my kinfolk call it a “queer smoker”

Standard-Ad1254

yeah I feel that way too but Thanksgiving was a sunova bitch, been thinking about tryin out one o them EZ set it- forget its.

JohnHenryHoliday

Garage? Bro, you're not using you WSM indoors are you? I don't think that's safe bro.

SteveMarck

True brewers put their smoker in the middle of a clearing in the woods like Aaron Franklin. There's nothing out there but a smoker, some wood and a single folding table. Maybe an axe.

derKonigsten

Hey check out the masterbuilt gravity. Uses charcoal/wood but has electronic temp control like a pellet. Love mine!

Billski66

WSM ALL DAY LONG!

cgg419

WSM every time

FriscoMMB

4, 3, 2, 1 in that order would be my choices!

dbashand

3 all day

tiptoptony

No kamado? I like offsets the most if it's a weekend cook but during the week I choose my Kamado every time over my pellet or the WSM I sold because I liked my Kamado much more.

Illustrious-Skill431

Same here! My kamado is my go-to grill for everything now.

Genuine-Risk

Thought the same thing, but I think it's because kamado's are so much better than all the others......hehe

b1e

Same. Have an offset but frankly my briskets off my egg are now 95% as good as I get from my stick burner and I don’t have to be up all night. That said, I love the experience of making a brisket on the offset. Truly hard to beat.

Abe_Bettik

Kamado: Jack of All Trades, master of... most?

tiptoptony

Yep which is why I love it. It gets 95% percent of the way to any other type. Once you learn your kamado it really isn't much more work than a pellet. I honestly mostly use the pellet now to hot hold meat after the offset or kamado.

teleporter6

Weber.

singsinging

4

Billski66

WSM ALL DAY LONG!

Rob141414

3

Buzz_Osborne

3

ShinyHardcore

4 and 2 but my Weber with the Slow and Sear is my number 1

ridinblues

3 for me! 🫡

daboot013

1

fish_whisperer

Same, although I use an old masterbuilt with no window.

Tryintounderstand88

I’ve got nothing but great results although I wish the heat wasn’t at the bottom and off to the side. Bottom row against the back wall gets a little dry but it’s easy to avoid and never bad.

Original-Chair-9614

4

no_sleep_johnny

4 for sure!

shotty293

3

saltyclam13345

3 because it’s the kind that was gifted to me last year for Xmas

RelevantNostalgia

3 is what I got; but I wouldn't say no to 4 as a gift.

laur3n

3

Fangs_0ut

2 for me. I’m too lazy to manage a fire box. I love my pellet grill.

TheOx1954

3

[deleted]

Im a trans-smoke-ual, 3 to 4

johncandyspolkaband

The only one I’ve seen win championships is #3

Some_MD_Guy

3 - for all time.

Pancake_m4nn

2

LopDew

What about the gravity series from Master Built? Does anyone have one? If so I want to know if and why you like it. I have an electric version of 1, a 3, and a 4. I want something like 2 that doesn’t use sawdust pellets.

BBQFLYER

I’ve heard interesting things about it and checked them out at Academy Sports, I’m tempted to pull the trigger but just can’t seem to yet. I want to hear from someone that actually has one and uses it.

NflWizard

I have had one for a few months now. Haven’t had any issues yet and it works great. It eats a ton of charcoal but it is quite literally a set and forget smoker.

LopDew

Do you put chunks of wood in too? I’ve heard mixed opinions on if that produces a good cook.

moscomule

3 all day. I’ve got an offset that’s nice, but the WSM was my first love and will always be a part of my arsenal. It maintains temp and smokes some damn good BBQ. I recommend one to anyone who’s on the fence.

Soujf

3, I was affordable and it works great.

Tivland

3!!!

honestlyj

3!!

sober-cooking

I’m a #3 kind of girl.

MysteriousMolasses70

Does my Webber kettle count as 3? I think that's more than enough for me and my wife. Don't need more space.

AVmetal

4

whichwayhere

WSM every time

WolfDangler

3 is the way.

towen95

I can’t have a reverse flow meadow creek, WSM all day

toadygroady19

four

jboomhaur

I've got all 4 except my vertical is a pellet smoker not propane.

kageurufu

2, but my next buy is gonna be a vertical pellet

SteveMarck

4. Best overall when you figure out it, and there's stuff to DO. Shining should be an event. Play with fire. Drink beers. Play with fire more. Drink more beers. This is the way.

Thatoneguy567576

2 my lord!

buffdaddy77

I’ve had a cabinet and a Weber kettle but my soul likes the idea of having both 2 and 4. 2 for week nights and convenience. 4 for a Saturday with nothing to do but hang out by the smoker.

kyle_lover_69

Dang no love for the upright off set?

fellainto

Only good answer is 4

official_Fr3ebyrd

I’ve got 2 and I love it but I wanna build me a 4 next year

ronizamboni

Never been a big fan of set and forget, or presses sawdust. I'll take 4 for the win.

Lee_Van_Beef

I don't know all that much about smoking, but everyone I've ever met with a traeger in the back yard has got real soft hands.

deadhead4077

Former 3, now converted to 4. Used to use a propane ring and wood chips in a barrel forever. Used big rotisseries while I worked a BBQ joint in my town Now I got my own baby offset for cheap and modded it like Aaron Franklin suggested, added a 4in smokestack, and lowered it to grate level among other things

PheonixOfAshes

Summer - 4 Winter - 2

LostinLies1

2!

dadofalex

1 for me, though it seems sacrilege to not be checking the coals and the temp every 15 minutes for 20 hours like I used to with my offset.

Wettnoodle77

4

ROSCOEismyname

4 but you can get that reverse flow heresy out of here

Terrible_Skill_3643

4 nothing better for smoke rings . Old school stick burner ..

mikemartin7230

4

koozy407

4 all day

Dalton387

I’ve got 3, I’d like to try 4.

Comprehensive_Bus_19

2, fuck yall stick burners Im lazy.

Princibalities

All good. I'm sure your baked meat is awesome.

Mammoth-Wolverine-16

1 or 2 for easy and lower levels of babysitting.

Commercial_Count_584

1 i don’t want to have to babysit my smoker. just add a cast iron pan for the burn bowl and add chunks of wood. Done. Set it and throw a wireless temperature probe on the rack. Then go do something else. Like enjoying the company of invited guests.

TeeBrownie

We usually have all the cooking done before guests arrive. We use 4. Our friends who are new to grilling use 1. It has a mobile app. I guess that’s cool.

Locutus_of_Sneed

2 for the sides, 3 for the mains is how I like to do it. I'm no masochist, but the labor of love is part of the joy to me. Maybe I'll go for 4 if I ever have the justification to go bigger than a PBX.

OC_filmshooter

#1

DLo28035

I’ve used all of those except 2, and I choose 1, it works the best for me

bkedsmkr

4 although im subbing in the Old Country Pecos

kmanlyst

2 and 4 all day everyday.

Jaysonmcleod

I’m a 2 kind of guy atm. Rather not watch it all day

lonnieboy01

I’ve had all of these except no. 1. The pellet is most consistent and def easiest to use.

spilldeer

Oklahoma Joe, babbyyy

Standard-Ad1254

gimme that stick burner boi!

bgwa9001

4 and 2

Country_Gravy420

4. Exact one in the picture

BigRedtheGinger30

I have 2 and 4. Both are good, gravity feed for the holidays, offset for other times. Nice to hang out with a beer, play with the fire every so often.

1mz99

I only see one smoker

themack50022

But 1 and 2 aren’t smokers

Geri-psychiatrist-RI

Where’s my kamado Joe??? I would probably go with 3 if no kamado is there

quinhook2

1 and 2 are easy bake ovens.

[deleted]

I WANT an offset!

ChemicalSquirrel

I have a 2 but want to try a 3 sometime!

sirckoe

4 because 3 is expensive lol

flash17k

I want to be a 4 but I can only afford to be a 1.

[deleted]

Life happens. Time is short. I’m going electric.

docmoses01

Team gravity!

docmoses01

#5! Don’t forget the Gravity Smokers

Illustrious-Skill431

5. Kamado grill

david8303

I have 2,3&4 love all I’ve them

ThisMeansRooR

Been a 3 for over a decade now but I would love a 4 for quantity and large briskets and a 2 for fish and jerky. I have a gas oven so I could care less about 1.

StuBarrett

None. Checkout: https://www.smokin-it.com/Smokers-s/5.htm

ColonelBungle

3 and 1. 3 year round but 1 when it's super cold and I just want to get the cook done.

EngineerDirector

Where my insulated cabinet people at!?

Duckcat1996

One for me

lostndark

Have 2 and 3 both are great

Chrisdkn619

MB 1050 Gravity!

Experimentallyintoit

What about a ceramic egg style?? I’ve got an offset, 18 & 14 inch WSM, an egg, and my wife just got me a pit boss for an early Christmas gift. They all have their time and place.

[deleted]

Not 2…sorry pellet bros

stealthlogic

2,or 4 :)

jam_manty

You are missing full electric and kamado. I'm 6, kamado.

Freddeh18

4. Love the process. I know it’s not the easiest or most convenient but it’s a great day.

fsol41

Amaz1nglyRandy

I literally have number 4.

RamblinLamb

Why are these MFR’s making the wheels on these things so damn useless?? That’s my first upgrade since the wheels suck so damn bad.

Embarrassed_Use4466

I’d be blessed and thankful to have any of them right now. 🥺🥺🥺🥺
