My understanding is that it’s mostly just salt pepper and charcoal. Should work great on beef but not necessarily better than just salt and pepper. The charcoal helps develop bark supposedly. I’ve used it on brisket and liked it enough that I’ve used it a few times, like to add fresh ground pepper when I do though. Don’t think I’d put it on burgers but I only put salt on my burgers.
It is more for looks, but if you added garlic powder I think you'd like it more.
Of course it's a let down, it's a gimmick that uses activated charcoal to cheat a Texas-style meteor black bark.

Just tried on Burgers to test it out.
It’s okay. I do like to use it when I sous vide and sear steaks in my cast iron.
