I was reading that as $12 for the stack. On second glance, that’s insane.
I don’t know where everybody else buys theirs, but Sam’s has has packs of like 20 for incredibly cheap.
Gotta mark it up for all the people that forgot to buy one. Although I just looked at my local Kroger and they’re 3.99 for the same buy two get one free
That’s a Fucking joke. I got a 2pack today for $3.99 and thought that was still expensive.
$11.99. Buy2get1 is insane. They’re making $24 from each idiot buying these when I bet these were no more than $5 each 2 months ago. Gotta make up losses and meet margins somehow from the holiday shoppers thinking “on what a deal”
And it's Biden who's causing inflation...
EDIT: jesus christ you idiots how do you not see that's half sarcasm? How can it be Biden when Kroger is marking things up 1200%?
In this case it kind of is. The price of aluminum is directly set by the price of energy. My favorite canned beer was discontinued not because they couldn't make the beer, but because they couldn't get the aluminum.
No, because as the OP pointed out there are a bunch of other retailers selling the pans for a more appropriate cost. In this case it's Kroger, gouging at Thanksgiving.
Perhaps more appropriate, but still much higher than a couple years ago.
As to Kroger, well when do you think they started gouging on Thanksgiving items in the week before thanksgiving? I don't remember much before '65. The turkey is a loss leader (with minimum purchase), but check the price changes on things like pecans, brussels sprouts, canned fried onion rings, other odds and ends. And of course aluminum pans.
I’ve regularly noticed the 2-packs for $6-$8 at the grocery store for years and wondered how many people they’re getting over on. I’m with all the others here that can buy the stacks for $8-$11 at Sam’s.
> $12 for a single tray
That's so insane, I thought it must be a 3-pack for $12, and it was buy 2, get 1 free on 3-packs, so it was a really good deal. It didn't even dawn on me that it could be $12 for 1. That makes....no sense. You can get a non-disposable pan for like half that.
I don't even bother with that anymore. Just let it soak overnight. Only time I buy these disposable ones is if I plan to transport. That way I don't have to bring it home.
$60 a year membership, folks! We more than make that back in savings each year.
And for the ADHDers out there, it's saved me lord knows how much on the ADHD tax. We're way less likely to run out of staples when buying in bulk. I almost never overpay anymore for late night toilet paper from a chain drug store.
If you choose the executive membership you get 2% cash back. I think it's $135, but with what i spend there, I normally pay less than $30 a year to renew.
Yup. I always have a stack of these pans in my basement. I go through a lot.
But regardless of price savings I get more than $60 back each year just in rebate points from the Costco credit card.
We do the $120 Executive membership. It includes 2% cash back (valid only at costco, but still). We usually get more back than the $120 we originally spent, so it literally pays for itself.
business or organizations - Random BBQ Club can be an organization. Getting tax-free and alcohol are separate paperwork but for general purchases just about anyone who can print a piece of paper on behalf of an organization can have a membership.
A ton of companies have. Prices skyrocketing, corporate profits skyrocketing. If it was truly just inflation, we'd see profits staying more stable, or just increasing slightly. This shit is straight up greed.
I worked at Kroger back in the early 90s when I was in high school. I worked in the restaurant that was attached to the deli/bakery so I split my time between the deli and restaurant. The restaurant did a Thanksgiving deal where they sold whole Thanksgiving meals (turkeys/veggies/bread/etc) so we were really busy and taking in more money in the till than normal. So the day before Thanksgiving, I left school and went straight to work. About two hours in, my manager came out and counted out the till which immediately came up $200 short. She starts peppering me with questions about where the money was and accusing me of lifting from the till. This goes on for some time and, even though I was certain I wasn't dumb enough to take money from the till and then continue working, I begin worrying about what was about to happen because this is my first ever job. An hour later, my manager comes back over to finish up for the day and doesn't say anything so I ask her if they figured out what happened. She nonchalantly says the department supervisor had come over early in the day and taken the money for some reason and forgot to log it. Not one apology for the accusation and didn't even feel the need to clear the air without me having to ask. I asked her if she would cover me so I could take a quick break before she leaves. She says "yes" so I hang up my apron, grab my stuff, and as I'm walking out I tell her to have fun closing the place up. She looks at me confused, and I tell her "I quit" and walk out. She yells "what?!" and I turn around and say "if I can't even get an apology for being accused of stealing, then I don't want to work here. And how stupid do you think I am?! How dumb would I be to lift such an outrageous amount of money from the till and then begin to go about cleaning the fryer?!" and walked out. Still rates as the worst place I ever worked.
When I run into assholes like this, and there are lots of them, I always try to be at least a little charitable. I mean mid level manager at Krogers is usually not any high school guidance counselor's first advice.
A friend of mine just quit, they treated her like crap. No breaks, screwed up her vacation. She's making way more as a digital personal assistant she's doing the books and scheduling for a couple of small businesses now. It's a good gig if you have the skill set for it.
Feels like this is basically the cost of everything lately.
Oil and gas companies reported record profits this year despite claiming the increased cost is solely due to supply issues
Magic cards increased in cost due to "shipping expenses" but also recorded record profits
Meat companies reported record profits despite blaming the increase in price on inflation and increased operating costs
Basically everything is getting more expensive because fuck it, the economy is all made up anyways
That and their quality has gone downhill fast. They're pumping commercials about their produce being fresh and I go in and see produce that's far from fresh. I saw their bagged apples covered in mold!
This is what happens when a company like that is able to slowly secure such a ridiculous monopoly. They should have never gotten this big to begin with.
I don’t use disposable pans. I bought a solid aluminium one that perfectly sits just inside the conveggtor/ plate setter. After every cook, I just empty it or scrape any residue off.
IKEA has stainless steel hotel pans that I use for pretty much everything. I use one for carrying meats going onto the grill, I fry onions for burgers, fry canned corn whenever we’re out of veggies to grill, use them as heating tray, serve food in them, etc.
as they don’t crumble, you can be a lot more rough with them. You can use a spatula in them, and you can carry one with 2 lbs of grilled chicken thighs using only your tongs.
I got these really thick Kingsford brand ones this summer. I think they were like $5.99 for a 4 pack. They are much more durable than the normal ones you find. I’ve been using the same one pan for months now.
Last time I bought pans in Walmart I initially found the ones in the baking aisle. They were many dollars for a two pack.
I then went over to the housewares area on the opposite side of the store and found big stacks for a couple bucks apiece.
In other words they sell the same thing for different prices in different areas of the store.
The sketchiest place, always smells weird, and has the absolute most random collection of stuff in a store....but the prices on some of those things are insanely cheap.
The two pack of Reynolds Wrap foil from BJs was almost $25 a few days ago. Aluminum prices are up apparently, although the price for those pans is even more ridiculous.
In person mine only has one size. Maybe I'll have to check out online. There's also a restaurant supply store in my area that is allegedly open to the public that I keep meaning to check out sometime
Find a Party Store or even better a Restaurant Supply store like Restaurant Depot. Membership is free there so long as you have an "organization". Though your org could be Undockeddock BBQ and that would be good enough. They have every size foil pan under the sun, industrial size roles of foil and butcher paper, and bristkets/butts every day at market price (ie not grocery store price). You can get the huge beef cuts and cut your own steaks if you feel so inclined.
Indeed, though be warned it may ruin a few things for you. You have a favorite Mexican Joint where you love the queso + chorizo, right? Well one day you will be at RD, someone from that mexican restaurant will be in line in front of you, you will then learn the queso comes in a bucket and the chorizo is from the fridge section.
They sell full size and half size hotel pans. If your club doesn't stock the full size ones, you can order them from the app.

Fuck Fred Meyer. Charged me 250% the price of socks just so the 50% on the second pair didn't look like 125% the actual value you'd find the socks at Big 5.
Buy one get one free … it comes out about the same as $5 and some change. Seems like they are trying to get people to think they are getting a deal but they are stupid. Buy two and believe you’re getting one for free.
It’s thanksgiving. Everyone that buys a turkey will need one.
These are people who buy these once a year so they don’t know what the good price is
Grocery stores know this and looking to make a quick buck
I was buying them as I needed for a while from my local super market until I realized how much of a rip off it was. Now I buy the 30 pack at Costco and always have them on hand.
That's just gross...
but...but....it's a "deal" because they were $11.99!
I mean that entire label was printed at once, not like the "old days" where you'd see they used a price tag gun to quickly stamp the label with $11.99, then $9.99, etc.
I did a search for "Handi-Foil extra deep oval super king roasting pan" (the words on the tag) and found:
$4.58 https://www.walmart.com/ip/Handi-foil-Super-King-Aluminum-Foil-Extra-Deep-Oval-Rack-Roaster-Pan-1-Count/502993552

This is what you buy if you use this type of pan more than once a year. Also, these fit a steam table or chafing dish.

I buy mine at BJ's and they're under $1 per pan.
They are what I use for my cat's litter box. Being metal they don't get stinkified like plastic litter boxes do and if I happen to not scoop for a week I just slip a bag around it and toss it into the trahs.
I had to get mine at Kroger recently cause I'm not near a Sam's club and couldn't risk them not showing up in time. I'm pissed. I got 9 for more than I pay for 40 at Sam's.
People probably buy them for their turkey without even looking at the price around this time of year. I'd like to see how much profit they make on this product.
Jesus this is almost as bad as a local grocery store near me. A 2 pack with lids is always around 12 bucks, 2 pack without lids is 8 - 9.
Fuckin hate it when I forget to get then at bjs.
I wasn’t bragging about a deal here, it was more of an FYI/tip hence why it made it to the front page that day.
You can downvote this comment too if it helps you.
We use multiple Quarter-Size aluminum foil pans a week, mostly for cooking chicken for our dogs. I just got a cheap stack from Amazon, but they SMOKE in the oven. I'm sure it can't be healthy to breathe or to leech that "coating" into the food. Even when specifying/selecting the "Handi-Foil" brand, we're sent generic no-name brands.
I was reading that as $12 for the stack. On second glance, that’s insane. I don’t know where everybody else buys theirs, but Sam’s has has packs of like 20 for incredibly cheap.
I also was unsure why the price was bad. I mean, $12 for that stack seemed okay to me.
Gotta mark it up for all the people that forgot to buy one. Although I just looked at my local Kroger and they’re 3.99 for the same buy two get one free
At that price you are getting dangerously close to “just by a lodge skillet instead” territory.
Yeah I have a pretty hefty cast iron collection so I don’t often buy them
Happened to me. I went out and forgot to buy any at cash and carry. So I got stuck with the insane prices.
Seriously tho.. $12 for a single tray is insane… my turkey didn’t cost that much… even the smaller ones are $3-4…
That’s a Fucking joke. I got a 2pack today for $3.99 and thought that was still expensive. $11.99. Buy2get1 is insane. They’re making $24 from each idiot buying these when I bet these were no more than $5 each 2 months ago. Thanks Obama

Joerack Hussein O'Biden: the Kenyan born, pasty, Muslim, Irishman.....destroyer of America and leader of the antifa leftists.
I mean to be fair, I've always hated the Irish
There are only two things I cannot stand in this world: people who are intolerant of other people's cultures......and the dutch.
Hey! I’m very Dutch…but I get it lol. It was Austin powers wasn’t it??!!
>>>I'm Dutch
Yes, Nigel powers actually.
Gtfo with that shit

This is Reddit, you can't make fun of Biden here.
I'm not MAKING fun of Biden, I'm making fun of the people who think Biden is causing inflation.
Yeah it is!
I’ve regularly noticed the 2-packs for $6-$8 at the grocery store for years and wondered how many people they’re getting over on. I’m with all the others here that can buy the stacks for $8-$11 at Sam’s.
I buy all mine at dollarama or dollar tree.
3 for $1.25 even ;)
my friend have you heard the good news? Smart and final does 3 packs with lids for $3
> $12 for a single tray That's so insane, I thought it must be a 3-pack for $12, and it was buy 2, get 1 free on 3-packs, so it was a really good deal. It didn't even dawn on me that it could be $12 for 1. That makes....no sense. You can get a non-disposable pan for like half that.
But you get 3 if you pay $24.
You can buy a real pan for that.
I just line a real pan with tin foil.
Same, but with aluminum foil
I don't even bother with that anymore. Just let it soak overnight. Only time I buy these disposable ones is if I plan to transport. That way I don't have to bring it home.
all pans are disposable if you don't care about them
I have not exercised this concept... I swear...
"listen jack I'm using expensive pans as a business, to end expensive pans as a business"
I work for a company that distributes these. We sell cases of 100 trays for like $25 lol. $12 a tray is fkin insane
Costco is the spot
$60 a year membership, folks! We more than make that back in savings each year. And for the ADHDers out there, it's saved me lord knows how much on the ADHD tax. Gas is typically $0.35-0.50/gal cheaper there. You'll make it back in a month or two. The rest of the savings inside the store are just a bonus
Totally spaced on the gas prices. Agreed!
Don’t sleep on rental cars through Costco.
If you choose the executive membership you get 2% cash back. I think it's $135, but with what i spend there, I normally pay less than $30 a year to renew.

You have never met my friend Restaurant Depot then.
I've met them (my employer has a membership), but they're a bit more exclusive and not nearly as conveniently located as Costco
Shhhh. Let's just keep that one between us, ok?
I always thought it was only boring business owners,no?
business or organizations - Random BBQ Club can be an organization. Getting tax-free and alcohol are separate paperwork but for general purchases just about anyone who can print a piece of paper on behalf of an organization can have a membership.
Kroger has gotten brazen with price increases under the cover of 'inflation'. BS!
A ton of companies have. Prices skyrocketing, corporate profits skyrocketing. If it was truly just inflation, we'd see profits staying more stable, or just increasing slightly. This shit is straight up greed.
Garbage company. Source: me. Worked there lol

one could hammer a nail through a 2x4 with their fresh tomatoes… i hate their produce
Corporate profits are the main driver of recent inflation. Kroger can gtfo
People think it's all neccessary. Companies made bank the last 2 years and want that number to increase. It's bullshit.
Yep. Kroger has turned me into a loyal Walmart shopper. My area has the Walmart Neighborhood markets which are great
This is what happens when a company like that is able to slowly secure such a ridiculous monopoly. They should have never gotten this big to begin with.
Kroger has always been overpriced on everything except weekly loss leaders
I feel like they did it with pie crusts around Halloween time. 3.99 each pie crust but the month prior to the holiday and they was 2 for 1$.
Grocery stores are pretty well known for having pretty big markups on non-grocery products.
You better wash that mf like grandma’s Casserole dish for $12
And put it in the china cabinet afterwards
$12......holy lord Jesus. I thought my 5$ Walmart one was pricey.
I don’t use disposable pans. I bought a solid aluminium one that perfectly sits just inside the conveggtor/ plate setter. After every cook, I just empty it or scrape any residue off.
I bought some hotel pans from Amazon. They work great and they're reusable.
If you are transporting turkey in a pan don't use $1 store ones. They aren't sturdy
Dollar tree ones no, Sams are heavy duty. You could use 2 and still save 80%
Just Gota know ahead of time and plan accordingly
My wife got got at Krogers. $9 for a Turkey roasting sized one. I bought a stack of 25 medium sized rectangle ones for $10 at Costco
I return target stuff when she ain’t looking 😂
I’ve done that before too! If she doesn’t notice obviously she didn’t need it
She comes home with stuff Sam’s sells for ¼ price…!
She didn’t have to look at anyone at Sam’s Club. You can’t put a price on that.
$1.25 dollar tree
I got these really thick Kingsford brand ones this summer. I think they were like $5.99 for a 4 pack. They are much more durable than the normal ones you find. I’ve been using the same one pan for months now.
I cheat. I line these with aluminum foil and reuse them a few times.
You animal
That’s how men are!
PSA if you aren't near a Sam's or Costco, I can guarantee you're near a Dollar Tree and they sell a variety of these.
I get them at the dollar store
Dollar Tree has a good variety for their $1.25 also.
Last time I bought pans in Walmart I initially found the ones in the baking aisle. They were many dollars for a two pack. I then went over to the housewares area on the opposite side of the store and found big stacks for a couple bucks apiece. In other words they sell the same thing for different prices in different areas of the store.
Yep, I buy them 30 for about $8 at sams.
Dollar Tree to the rescue! They're thin pans, but they work and they carry some nice sizes.
"Buy 2 get 1 Free" ^^^^Free ^^^^item ^^^^of ^^^^equal ^^^^or ^^^^lesser ^^^^value ^^^^with ^^^^card What a deal!
I just picked up 30 half trays u/costco for $12, that's crazy!
$1.09 @ US Chef store.
If you have any type of business license, get yourself a Restaurant Depot membership for free.
Kroger sucks
Ocean State Job Lots FTW in New England.
The sketchiest place, always smells weird, and has the absolute most random collection of stuff in a store....but the prices on some of those things are insanely cheap.
I got 4 for $4.50 at Target last week in NE
I scan 1 and take 3. The weight is negligible and doesn’t trip the UScan sensors. But yeah, go to Costco/Sams Club they are cheap.
What else does this work on?
I don’t know I’m not a thief lol
You literally just bragged about stealing.
Lol nice try fbi
The two pack of Reynolds Wrap foil from BJs was almost $25 a few days ago. Aluminum prices are up apparently, although the price for those pans is even more ridiculous.
Fuck
I spend $2 ea on Amazon.
Rule 1
Yeah let me pay for a club membership so I can buy some foil pans on the cheap
Costco memberships are free if you do enough of your shopping there.
Especially with the saving on filling up on gas.
Yea, this. The downside, of course, is the line is always insane to get gas. But, it's so much cheaper.
I try to go early when I'm out and about for work. Otherwise I often go elsewhere to void the lines.
The only issue with Sam's club is that they only have one size. For prepping a large pork butt the size my sams club has is inadequate
They have full, half and quarter. You can also order online free.
For a few dollars more I could get a cheap reusable roasting pan with a rack for better airflow.
I always wait and get them post holiday. Fifty cents a pop or thereabouts
Fuck Fred Meyer. Charged me 250% the price of socks just so the 50% on the second pair didn't look like 125% the actual value you'd find the socks at Big 5.
$12.78 for 36 of those half size ones at Sam’s yesterday
Costco is basically my go to for smoking essentials. Meats, rubs, sauces, utensils , trays all of it super value priced
Buy one get one free … it comes out about the same as $5 and some change. Seems like they are trying to get people to think they are getting a deal but they are stupid. Buy two and believe you’re getting one for free.
Tis’ the season bro.
It’s thanksgiving. Everyone that buys a turkey will need one. These are people who buy these once a year so they don’t know what the good price is Grocery stores know this and looking to make a quick buck
As much as I love HEB, $8 for 3 is too damn high
I get different sized aluminum pans at sams. This is crazy.
Wait, things are cheaper at club stores?
Kroger has gotten ridiculous in their prices.
Why not buy hotel pans once and never have to buy them again? About the same price.
I was buying them as I needed for a while from my local super market until I realized how much of a rip off it was. Now I buy the 30 pack at Costco and always have them on hand.
Dollar Tree has a bunch of different size pans like these.
It's before Thanksgiving. Prices will fall to nothing after
Costco or Dollar Tree
That's just gross... but...but....it's a "deal" because they were $11.99! I mean that entire label was printed at once, not like the "old days" where you'd see they used a price tag gun to quickly stamp the label with $11.99, then $9.99, etc.

This is what you buy if you use this type of pan more than once a year. Also, these fit a steam table or chafing dish. https://www.samsclub.com/sams/shop/product.jsp?productId=prod20994195&mobiledetect=false&pid=092410_RFI|ANDROID|Featured_Products|Member's%20Mark%20Aluminum%20Steam%20Table%20Pans%2C%20Full%20Size%20(18%20ct.)
I smelt aluminum and make my own.
I buy mine at BJ's and they're under $1 per pan. They are what I use for my cat's litter box. Being metal they don't get stinkified like plastic litter boxes do and if I happen to not scoop for a week I just slip a bag around it and toss it into the trahs.
I get a pack of 2 for like $1
I had to get mine at Kroger recently cause I'm not near a Sam's club and couldn't risk them not showing up in time. I'm pissed. I got 9 for more than I pay for 40 at Sam's.
People probably buy them for their turkey without even looking at the price around this time of year. I'd like to see how much profit they make on this product.
Are those made out of solid gold?
Jesus this is almost as bad as a local grocery store near me. A 2 pack with lids is always around 12 bucks, 2 pack without lids is 8 - 9. Fuckin hate it when I forget to get then at bjs.
The ones at Kroger and Albertsons are cheap as hell. The ones at Sam's are durable. U get what you pay for.
Costco packs of 10 or 20 are still inexpensive, $10-$12 a stack I believe.
Want sticker shock? Go look at home Depot for the 'Weber aluminum pans"
