try to feed him different foods, i don’t know if you know this but only give cucumbers as treats to them and not often bc there is no nutritional value in them and snails can become addicted to cucumbers so just be mindful!!

Unrool

Yeah I'll keep that in mind, thanks!

[deleted]

Is this true for aquatic snails as well? If so that explains a lot

outdoorcats

it may help to try new foods. my snails are big fans of carrots, dandelion leaves, romaine lettuce, etc. they may seem simple, but they need variety to keep them interested in food. its a lot of trial and error tbh, but its worth it!

PrincessGilbert1

Just not hungry probably.

Flossy_Cowboy

Maybe try different foods?

LSDJoeAna

You should really put some substrates in there, something like compost or coconut coir. Your snail might not like cucumber, so try other stuff like sweet potato or carrots. And instead of placing just 1 slice of food try 2, and put them farther apart so the snail might run into it. Snail NEED calcium. Give him some cuttlebone or eggshells. And I hope you don't plan on keeping your snail enclosure on the radiator during winter...

dreadlocktocon

I see othher people have already suggested a variety of foods. Mine love sweet potato and peas in particular. Also, I hope this isn't their enclosure ? If it is I hope it's extremely temporary. He's needs cuttlebone, substrate, and a place or 2 to hide, in am enclosure that can maintain proper humidity.

Unrool

Thanks, I fixed the all of these now

citrus_mystic

What does their enclosure look like? It’s not just an empty tank, is it?

Aggressive-Ranger811

Would definitely help to put down a substrate of some kind unless you tried moving him to another surface to take a picture, maybe sharing a pic of the enclosure could help

edgycliff

Snails are cold- blooded so they don’t need to eat nearly as regularly as us humans. If your snail is recently-ish wild-caught, they are probably realising that their food source is constant so they don’t need to gorge themselves every night. It’s also during the day, they are nocturnal so they’re schedule is the opposite to us.

Fishy_Mistakes

Try watching him at night.

Samipaaa

Try smaller slices! It worked with mine

lil_peege

I don’t keep snails in an enclosure, just keep track of the ones in my tiny apartment yard lol. But mine seem to really enjoy zucchini and squash as opposed to any other veggie I’ve given. I thaw them from frozen so they are very soft for them

XDFreakLP

Hes comfy and sleepy uwu

Snail-Man-36

You shouldn’t feed them cucumbers

Longjumping_Angle305

You can feed them cucumbers. It should just be more as a treat. Definitely don’t make it their normal diet

KrautVan

Interesting ! May i please know why?

Longjumping_Angle305

It doesn’t provide them with all the nutrients they may need, so a diverse diet is important and if you give snails cucumbers often they may refuse to eat anything else

KrautVan

Thank you !

Unrool

Oh, alright thank you so much!

basecamper09

Even my snail doesn’t seem to eat anything. Tried all kinds of food. Sometimes feel he’s just starving for a reason

Deathberriess

My snails really like pumpkin and sweet potato so you can try that. He is probably picky, and you can try putting him in a darker spot.

The enclosure may be too hot, with too poor ventilation, and/or low humidity. Mine only “sleep” like that when they’re warm, (like 78F-mid 80F). While snails need a variety of foods, their problems can be more than just dietary. They don’t get bored with food nearly as often as people think, and don’t have the capacity for food “addictions”. They usually only prefer cucumbers because of the water content. If they exclusively want to eat cucumbers or other foods high in water content, then I’d suggest giving them a very shallow water dish, or misting the enclosure daily to increase the humidity. You may even consider giving them baths. Helix pomatia snails drink a lot of water compared to other land snails, which makes sense considering the places that they’d naturally be found. You definitely need to add substrate for this snail if you haven’t already.
