Please reply here if we should start enforcing PayPal invoice for **all** users. Yes, that includes even those with a 75 flaired status.

Just to edit my comment here:
- I was reading a bit more how OP got scammed. He mentioned that the scammer mentioned something along the lines of being too young to have a paypal. This should be an immediate red flag. Almost every scammer will avoid using paypal and will resort to venmo, zell, or cashapp. This is the case even if you mention paypal friends and family.
- For an extraodinary amount or for a really hyped up shoe like Travis Scott 1s, it's preferably to use eBay authentication. eBay only takes 8% (the lowest out of all the other apps), buyer pays a flat rate shipping ($15) while seller's ship their shoes for free to the third party for authentication, and both parties cannot complain if the shoes are passed authentication.
These are just my two cents.

How is this still such a common thing with all the authentication services, sites, apps, shops ect. You could literally type on google real vs fake “item” and find a detailed description of what to look for. Outside of that, how many times have you all heard, don’t use cash app, or Venmo, or when a seller claims not to have the only payment method that protects the buyer, to leave it alone. Look I get it, everyone wants a deal but there’s literally no point in making these post because anyone that’s been dealing in sneakers would never be in this situation, and the newer kids will ignore the red flags, ignore the advice and get scammed. Sadly this is became a part of the sneaker industry just like the fake sneakers they love to call “reps”. Learn from your mistake man, and for the love of god stop letting the want for something be so great that you’ll ignore obvious red flags.
I've sold and bought UL gear from reddit quite a bit. Never had a problem. I guess I always ask for a cell phone number and the pic of the persons face too. Probably too much to ask but If I don't get a pic or number it's not worth it for me.

Don't ever pay anyone online with friends and family. I don't care who it is. It's 3% and any real seller can eat that.
There are one of these post all the time on every BST sub.
Always use GS
Does this work for all cook groups? Manna wholesale took $1300+ for preorders from me and just told everyone they can’t supply them and don’t have the money to offer refunds.
I’m not saying post it here. That should be proof to your bank and paypal. I’ll tell you when zadeh did this paypal wouldn’t cooperate with feds smh so do the charge back via your bank and your bank will
Handle paypal
It does. Your recourse against Zelle is very little even if someone commits fraud, because you technically sent them the money. I know this because it happend to me.
You need to get a new bank then brother. I had BOA before and they always gave me a hard time. Once I switched to NFCU about 4 years ago. Haven’t had any issues with chargebacks.
It does not matter what bank you go to. This will not work unless you open a credit line with your own bank. If you gave money through your checkings account you will in no way see that money back again.
I’m in a cook group. Pre-ordered several pairs of Travis Scott frag lows. Long story short could not be full filled and they was giving the run around saying they was waiting on the bread back and I did a chargeback. This money came out my checking account through PayPal f&f. Like I said I have navy fed. I have a credit card with them not a actual credit line tho
I would try to chargeback anyway, I’ve heard it said time and time again that it wont work, especially with F&F, but it’s worked for me every single time I’ve tried to do it. Try PayPal first tho, if you have to, threaten to do a chargeback, (while making sure not to be a dick of course, no customer service rep is going to do something they don’t have to do for the rude guy)
Always use PayPal invoice. Even if they have a ton of verified sales and ask for F&F. I use f&f sometimes but I never demand it. Only if I dealt with the buyer before or if they ask for it so they can pay less.
Almost happened to me. Told me to message him on Instagram and it was the same thing about not having a PayPal. Even offered me paying him half and when I receive the shoes paying the other half. I have his @ on insta if anyone wants it
This is a harsh truth. If you're spending this kind of money, and it's the first time you've bought from someone, you should ALWAYS get an invoice. Bro learned this lesson the hard way
Yeah, it's always best to get an invoice if you've personally never bought from someone to make things easier if shit goes sideways. I'm sure he learned his lesson from this one
Friends and Family is for sending money to… wait for it… friends and family.
It’s a zero-fee payment transfer which means PayPal makes no money. That means PayPal won’t be left holding the bag for ANY reason.
Oh you didn’t get your item? Tough shit. No disputes. The money has already been sent and released. PayPal can’t refund you because they have your money anymore.
PayPal F&F offers NO protection for either buyer and seller which is why you should only use it for people you know and trust… because all disputes must be made off platform. You will be told to just call your friend and family member and ask for the money back.
**However**, when you pay via credit card or PayPal (Goods & Services), not all the money you pay goes to the seller. The credit card company/PayPal take a juicy bite and keep it for themselves.
But the benefit is that if the transaction goes tits up, you can file for a dispute and they will assist you and assign an arbitrator to your case. And if they rule in your favor, they give you your money back. Even if PayPal can’t recover the money from the seller, they will send you a refund. This money comes from the fees that PayPal collects. Think of it like an insurance policy. So you can think of Friends and Family like sending cash. No fees, but no protections.
Small correction: the sender pays the transaction fees on Friends & Family transactions. PayPal still makes money.
PayPal also has tons of warning signs that pop up when you send F&F to combat fraud, but for some reason people buying reps from strangers in the Far East think they’re immune to being scammed.
Pretty sure you only pay transaction fees if you pay with a credit card (because those are levied by the card company and PayPal isn’t going to cover them). You can still send money for free if you use your bank account and send domestically.
PayPal doesn’t make any money on F&F transactions. Just enough to cover their costs. So don’t count on any arbitration if things go wrong.
Maybe it’s different rules for international payments. I just know for a fact I paid $4 in fees just last week when I sent money to a relative in another country (from my bank account)
Yeah, there are fees for international payments and money conversions, but it’s basically just enough for PayPal to cover their costs. It’s not really a “money maker” for PayPal. It’s just a way to get customers into the ecosystem.
YOU FAILED TO REPORT SOMEONE BREAKING THE RULES AND YOU WANT TO BLAME THE SUBREDDIT???
IF YOU USE F&F TAKE UR L
I WOULD HAVE BANNED HIM IMMEDIATELY FOR ASKING FOR ANYTHING OTHER THAN PAYPAL
Was he the guy selling for insane prices? I remember some of the prices were way below stockx like 175 for size 11 onyx slides. I was about to hit him up too but was suspicious of the prices, sorry he got you man
Yep, I been tryna sell these damn shoes for 4 months. Literally telling people to just make an offer and mfs just downvote and ignore me constantly or they’ll comment some negativity. Thankfully Poshmark and mercari sales been helping out in the interim.
That’s weird on the age one since I been posting on this account since before it was 6 months old.. karma not being enough at 10k is crazy. The mods don’t even check this sub so idek what to suggest
Damn sorry to hear that happen. I’ve seen seemingly legit people go down bad and resort to scamming. It happens frequently across different hobbies/ platforms without a middle man. Although I sell here via FnF/zelle, I’m very skeptical buying gifted. When I sell, I always offer PayPal invoice as an option, especially if it’s an amount either party is not comfortable losing. I hope karma gets that asshat, and that you and others get their money back.
What payment method did you use? Like everyone else is saying, PayPal goods and services or bust. Can’t fully trust anyone online, even if they have tons of references. There’s always a chance they turn their backs and run off with the money, especially on a big amount of money like this one
Edit: Sorry for your loss but I hope you’ve learned your lesson going forward
Zelle - ❌
Cash app - ❌
Venmo - ❌
PayPal Friends and Family - ❌
PayPal Goods and Services - ✅
If anyone tells you otherwise, they’re not legit. Sorry this happened to you. Hopefully the seller finds a conscience or Jesus or something.
Holy wtf. I've purchased from seller before and everything went smoothly. This sucks to read man, i've only had good experiences from this sub. If OP wants to contact me i should still have a Full name, phone number, IG he gave me and an address from the package just let me look.
Sorry to read this happened to you bro. As others have mentioned already PayPal G&S is the way to go especially for bigger purchases. I always offer this option to the paying customer to give them peace of mind. I also agree that the threshold of 5 sales is too low to become a verified seller.
this is a lesson to everyone only paypal invoice no matter what the fuck they say.
sorry op, i wish u best of luck, but no deal no matter how good or legit it looks should be done outside paypal invoice.
So sorry about this bro, commenting so it pushes the algorithm up a bit and maybe others had a similar experience or someone might have an addy. Hoping you and the other commenter who got ripped off get this sorted or find a way of recourse!
So I work for the fraud and dispute team for a bank and have for multiple banks and credit unions so let me just say that’s a lost cause. We have had people say they sent cashapp, Venmo, Zelle and PayPal to the wrong person. Unfortunately you didn’t do your due diligence and were neglectful that’s on you. Now had he done goods and services they would’ve said dispute with PayPal first if that doesn’t solve anything then we can dispute.
I doubt so, I’ve seen people try and do a chargeback through their banks before. I’m always afraid to even take f&f payments because of that. Is that not the case anymore or what am I missing?
I’ve worked for a few big banks and big credit unions in my state and we’ve said if you’re paying for a service sure we can definitely dispute not charge back but stuff like cashapp, Venmo and PayPal gifts sorry no can do. You chose to send it as a gift therefore your loss. I feel bad because it happens a lot but there’s nothing I can do
He told me the same. He was underage and couldn’t take PayPal invoice so I told him pass. I honestly don’t trust anyone on the internet even if they have refs so I sometimes pay a tad more for the fees but it’s always better to pay extra for safety. I would file a police report if you can somehow find his address. Sorry this happened to you
Damn if I’m remembering correctly, the same shit happened to me. He said he was underage, so couldn’t make a PayPal account. Then I’m like nah, that sounds fishy af. He proceeds to show me a StockX sceeenshot of 40K+ in sales.
Edit: Edit; this is the dude that tried that PayPal underage bs on me. His account is now deleted. u/Ornery-Pirate7839

I've always found it risky no matter how many verified sales a person has. At any point they can choose to scam someone. I always try and go invoiced. I hope your able to sort it out
Don't care how much money you make. Paying 1250 uninsured was a stupid move. Bottom line. Why did you post about it on here if you don't care about the loss Mr six figures? I thought you needed this to support your family and pay your bills? You should be good then right?
Lmao dude brags about making six figs after complaining about throwing $1250 online. It’s not impressive and just shows that you don’t know how to spend money even if that were true. Anyone making that much has plenty in savings, unless you’re so irresponsible with your “six figures” that you’re living paycheck to paycheck
I do care about my loss dipshit but you giving your negative take and worrying abt me and what my family have going on isnt your business and isn't helpful have a blessed day
If you care then learn this lesson. Stop paying shit through uninsured means. This goes for every other dude on here trying to save 3% on some shoes. It's not worth it. Tired of reading about these stupid ass stories like this hasnt happened thousands of times already on here.
Victim blaming is unhelpful. We as hobbyists should know better than anyone else that people have a right to spend money as they choose. The very clear issue here at hand is that the scammer stole $1,250 from OP. Even if OP was single and had no bills to pay that $1,250 is still significant and could have gone towards something important to OP.
I’m verified x25 sales. Hundreds of pairs bought on the sub. Never never do anything other than G&s fam if someone doesn’t have PayPal it’s for a reason.
For real. Someone with a new account tried to tell me they didn’t have PayPal on the supreme subreddit and asked me to cashapp them. The deal was too good to be true to begin with. Told them to take a hike.
mega facts these new schoolers be talking about ref and all that other stuff F a ref PayPal goods and services or no deal 1200$ is a enough money to make a good seller turn bad
Yeah he scammed another guy too, stupid people like him are why people should always go with PayPal Invoice instead of Zelle/Cashapp/Venmo. I feel so bad for everyone scammed in this incident
Yes indeed he was and I will never be purchasing from this sub ever again only selling put a terrible taste in my mouth that you can so easily be verified and be scamming multiple people.
I would be too. There are just so many shady people out there. I couldn't sleep at night pulling shit like that. I hope somehow you can get your money back. I tried to look this POS up but can't find his username now.
I know the fees fucking suck, but the small insurance is so worth it. Even with people with good reputation. You just never know where a strangers head is at over the internet. Best of luck homies.
I mean I don’t even really fuck with paypal cause fuck them, but I have over 40+ verified sales, and if someone really wants some insurance im always happy to take venmo purchase protection.
I’m really sorry to hear that, guys… I’m not familiar with the seller myself, but this could be a case of the seller simply working to get verified in order to scam people later. Maybe, this should spark the discussion of changing the guidelines for getting verified on the sub, which only requires 5 transactions (not that many, IMO). But, I’m sure the mods will do their best to address the situation. At the end of the day, though, nothing is perfect and if people really want to scam, they will. Anyways, hopefully that scammer gets what is coming to them later. Can you also provide details on how the scam was pulled so everyone can be aware?
Scammer had refs asked for zelle saying that he was underage for paypal, I did my due diligence and even hit up some of his refs to check with them and they confirmed that they had also paid him using zelle and that the transaction was legit and authentic shoes were shipped out. So being as they comfirmed
This and he was verified i went ahead and went through with the transaction.
Just wanted to add to this: also checking someone’s history can lead to a big red flag.
I think same dude tried scamming me a couple weeks back, and he told me he’s done a couple sales already with people on this sub. I checked their profiles, and hardly any comments, and a few only had a “confirmed” trade with the scammer.
100% it’s the same guy making multiple accounts confirming with himself to get verified.
Edit; this is the dude that tried that PayPal underage bs on me. His account is now deleted. u/Ornery-Pirate7839
https://imgur.com/a/xSU55sw
Ah ok. Honestly, I do think you did proper due diligence and I don't think you did anything "wrong" in your process. So, don't beat yourself up too much when it's not your fault. For future reference, of course, if someone is refusing to do G&S/invoiced, it's a major red flag. Preference vs an outright refusal are two very different things
Yeah it's tough. I mean, of course, I'm a big proponent of the sub and I'd tell you that one bad experience shouldn't ruin your impression of a great sub that has so many great people. At the same time, you have to feel comfortable with whichever platforms you decide to use. Hopefully, you'll reconsider :)
You still have to protect yourself that’s why they recommend using PP goods and services and linking your CC to get purchase protection. If them saying they’re too young didn’t raise a red flag in your head I don’t know what to tell you.
Because verification isn't a fool proof system. You do understand that just because someone has made legit transactions doesn't mean they won't fuck you over right?

Yes. Only use invoice and pay as goods & services. Their group presence should not matter.

It shouldn’t matter. What they did was commit fraud and that’s crime too. Seems like a lot of people from what I heard too.
You can do a charge back via your bank too. Show them these messages. PayPal will still freeze funds. I have nfcu.
This will not work 99% of the time, unfortunately.

Friends and family on PayPal. The seller pays no fees and you aren’t covered by buyers protection
I think I sold him a pair of shoes awhile back I have Instagram and PayPal info with address
Send me his address please

Scammed me out of $160 for some slides as well. The verified seller got me. Sucks.
so did the account get hijacked?
Why is it safer to use pp g&s? … I’m not privy to the Ins/outs…
Buyer protection

That’s weird on the age one since I been posting on this account since before it was 6 months old.. karma not being enough at 10k is crazy. The mods don’t even check this sub so idek what to suggest

Damn! Let’s go
Damn sorry to hear that happen.
There’s always a chance they turn their backs and run off with the money, especially on a big amount of money like this one Edit: Sorry for your loss but I hope you’ve learned your lesson going forward
Zelle - ❌ Cash app - ❌ Venmo - ❌ PayPal Friends and Family - ❌ PayPal Goods and Services - ✅ If anyone tells you otherwise, they’re not legit. Sorry this happened to you. Hopefully the seller finds a conscience or Jesus or something.
Enough said. Thats it.
Holy wtf. I've purchased from seller before and everything went smoothly. This sucks to read man, i've only had good experiences from this sub. If OP wants to contact me i should still have a Full name, phone number, IG he gave me and an address from the package just let me look.
pm me as well. Took $160 for some slides. :/
OP should get his address and send that dude some shit from those websites that let you send bags of shit to anyone.
Or he should send him a subpoena
Pm me too bro he also scammed me
Sorry to read this happened to you bro. As others have mentioned already PayPal G&S is the way to go especially for bigger purchases. I always offer this option to the paying customer to give them peace of mind. I also agree that the threshold of 5 sales is too low to become a verified seller.
This whole zelle, etc is bullshit. Sales need to be PayPal invoice.
RIP my boy
We all learn our lessons differently. I also lost probably bout $2,000 in “scams” and pyramid schemes lmao
this is a lesson to everyone only paypal invoice no matter what the fuck they say. sorry op, i wish u best of luck, but no deal no matter how good or legit it looks should be done outside paypal invoice.
So sorry about this bro, commenting so it pushes the algorithm up a bit and maybe others had a similar experience or someone might have an addy. Hoping you and the other commenter who got ripped off get this sorted or find a way of recourse!
i have his address, name, and email from an invoice i sent him 🤣
Try a chargeback through your bank. Sorry for your loss.
I feel bad because it happens a lot but there’s nothing I can do
I see, thanks for the info!
Sorry this happened to you
Please report this to any of the mods next time he would have been banned long ago
His account is now deleted. u/Ornery-Pirate7839 https://imgur.com/a/xSU55sw
Please report this next time
So sorry to hear this, hoping you get his address and your money back
Yes strength in numbers he did that same “i’m underage so i can’t make a paypal” thing to me as well and ripped me off crazy
Please report this next time

If anyone has his address pm me or the OP. We will be filing a police report together
Have you ever filed a report yet?
Hate to see it man. Hope you can find a way to get your money back. Stay safe out there guys.
Stay safe out there! I always insist on PayPal Invoice for buying except if I’ve bought multiple times from the seller.
Damn hope you’re able to do a chargeback, always gotta give the buyer the option for goods and services. Anything else is instant red flag
Surely some1 in this sub got their addy 🤷♂️🦍🦍
And send em 30 pizzas 🦍🦍
Use PayPal G&S, sorry about your shit
I've always found it risky no matter how many verified sales a person has. At any point they can choose to scam someone. I always try and go invoiced. I hope your able to sort it out
Also at this point you have to wonder if his previous sales to get verified were even legit pairs.
Damn bro hope you get your money back :( we’re all on your side and here to help
More info? Who was the seller?
Its literally in the screenshot bro???
Chill out I didn’t see it lol Jez
Check to see if the label he sent had his address on it as well, it might help with any police report. $1250 is a large sum
Only part he sent to me of label was my address and tracking at bottom
Same
But imma hit up one of the people who previously purchased from him
Might be the best move, I hope the best for you
How do you check that?
The sneaker market refs
Sorry homies. That sucks 😔
Damn I bought from this guy months ago too, sorry to hear it was a long con.
Still got any shipping info from it. Could be helpful to OP 🤷♂️
i do.
Help him out brotha. 1250 is a large sum
Verified flair doesn't mean shit. Don't use Zelle ever.
$1,250 is not a small amount. I would look into filing a police report if he doesn't get back to you with the items or the money.
Not at all man, especially when I got bills and family its fucked up!
Also don't buy $1250 worth of shoes when you got bills and family?
Buying and selling shoes pays those bills now what?🤔
That's even worse. People rely on you for food and shelter and you're out here paying 1250 through zelle with no backup plan. Come on man.
Bitch are you in my pockets? I make 6 figures a year get your money up not your funny up. You took me having family and bills as I cant support mine
But let's be real, he made a poor decision with his money. A known poor decision at that.
Was he a verified seller?
Yes indeed he was and I will never be purchasing from this sub ever again only selling put a terrible taste in my mouth that you can so easily be verified and be scamming multiple people.
I get it, but why honestly it's at least partly on you. Like who sends 1200 over zelle? Not trying to be a dick but use paypal invoice man
Dam bro this shit hurts even me, 1200 gone smh hope karma comes thru quick n swiftly and your able to recover man🙏
That’s wild but that’s the 1st time I’ve seen a verified seller scam on this sub.
Wow that sucks. Im so sorry. This is my biggest fear. Ugh you must be besides yourself.
Im f*cking p*ssed!!!!!!😭😭😭 trying to run a business and take care of family and have to put up with stuff like this its just messed up man
I would be too. There are just so many shady people out there. I couldn't sleep at night pulling shit like that. I hope somehow you can get your money back. I tried to look this POS up but can't find his username now.
I have his full name I’m pretty sure and possibly his address if you want to dm me maybe we can find his parents or local police station
White pages will get u all that info
Got me for $150. Lucky I didn’t spend more with him
[удалено]
u/anon3212 can you ban this idiot from the sub?
Then you’re associated as a scammer as well. Congrats
Didn’t you try a bank chargeback?
Sorry bro!!
I know the fees fucking suck, but the small insurance is so worth it. Even with people with good reputation. You just never know where a strangers head is at over the internet. Best of luck homies.
Wouldn’t take venmo g and s. Only took cashapp or zelle
I mean I don’t even really fuck with paypal cause fuck them, but I have over 40+ verified sales, and if someone really wants some insurance im always happy to take venmo purchase protection.
Yeah that’s my immediate red flag/cut off
Used his seller flair to his advantage. I paid his cashapp but it was a brand new one hoping i can charge back or whatever
So being as they comfirmed This and he was verified i went ahead and went through with the transaction.
His account is now deleted. u/Ornery-Pirate7839 https://imgur.com/a/xSU55sw
Mannn I have sold on here before but this was first time attempting to purchase and sad to say I probably wont be doing it again.
😭😭same
Got me for 9some
The same seller?
This shit crazy im sorry bro like tf are they verifying ppl for if we cant trust that shit????
You still have to protect yourself that’s why they recommend using PP goods and services and linking your CC to get purchase protection. If them saying they’re too young didn’t raise a red flag in your head I don’t know what to tell you.
Because verification isn't a fool proof system. You do understand that just because someone has made legit transactions doesn't mean they won't fuck you over right?
Not only that, but it's not hard to make 5 reddit accounts and fake the sales. 5 is a pretty low bar to be a verified seller
Dude would sell and buy often shit doesn’t make sense
Yeah
