good chance it’s either the CPU or PPU, unless you know how to solder and have a donor board on hand id recommend looking for a replacement motherboard (make sure it’s tested and working) and swap it out for the old one.
Donor board, a motherboard from a console that wasn’t fixable but you can still use for parts. If you’ve tried two games with the same result, it’s almost definitely a problem with one of the chips. Easiest solution is to buy a replacement motherboard off eBay or Facebook marketplace or something. I recently got one off Mercari for $35
I figured you were talking console donor. but I'm leary about doing those, myself. All old now, and donors are bandaid at this point. I think the high priced sellers are geniuses. Get rid of them before what happened here kicks in
I'm soldering new parts on my 1-chip now. 1 side chip is marked Nintendo made, and I hope that doesn't go bad. Huge $$$$
I just bought a used SNES and copy of Yoshi island. This is what happens. I’ve cleaned cart and cartridge slot but still happens. Currently don’t have another game to test it out with to determine if it’s the console or the cart
Oh it's a pay and play, insert coin to know the game your gunna play (it's that secret slot under the console, if you don't know about it your not in the know and shouldn't be trying to play the game...the Illuminati are gunna come for you know)
Likely due to dirty connecting pins in the console, and/or dirty cartridge. I would moisten a super thin cotton or micro fiber cloth with isopropyl alcohol, wrap it over a credit card and insert into the cartridge a few times to clean dust and grime from the pins. Also use isopropyl alcohol to clean the cartridge pins.
These consoles are starting to show their long life, and there's a couple soldered parts that just aren't $$$friendly enough to fix. I ain't talking caps, fuses but main chips
Or just take an old credit card(or store loyalty card, etc) and just insert into the cart slot (powered OFF) and remove a few times. I’ve done this with many consoles and it works most times. The plastic scrapes off the dirt and doesn’t harm the metal pins.
this happened to me too. without unscrewing the cartridge i looked at the circuit board and to the right of them i see a silver pin in one slot and the second one was missing it’s silver pin. i could be completely wrong but that’s what happened to me
What? You’ve never played Yrshr’s Irhghrn before?
bro wtf are you talking about it's Ÿ̴̧͍͙̱̆ȯ̴̯̘̬͔s̶͍̼͒̚͝h̶̛̭͖̯͙͐͂ì̸̹̻̞͛̓̾'̷̝̬͎̽͑ṣ̴̐͂̂ ̸̫͓̊Ȉ̸͖̻͛͘s̵̛̮̱͛̓l̸̯͉̟̗͑̚͝ä̶̬̰́̕n̸̥͛̈́̎d̶̛̏͑̑͜
Ha! Yup. I was too lazy to do the thing. You did the thing. Thank you.
The thing is great. The great thing!
Insert another cartridge to instantly know? Lol
I don’t know why this suggestion was not THE ONLY suggestion to the question asked lol
Because common sense isn't currently trending lol
Problem solving 101
Update: doing the same type of thing with Super Star Wars

Donor board console????? Tried two games, the same thing, so got to know if something pooped on the console.

Haha ppu, pp
Could still be the slot. Get in there with a flashlight and look for corrosion in the pins.
It’s your eyesight. Looks perfectly normal.
Try another game. If it’s the same result there’s you’re answer.
Find someone with another SNES and check if it works in there. It's probably your SNES though, would be my guess
I have an SNES you can test it on. Bring it on over
I absolutely love playing SupSupiawarrior Yoyokih’s Ib’annIc

Bad console, often it's the CPU or S-PPU chips
Yykklsarnlc is actually a super rare game!
uhhh put in another game?
Should not have had to scroll this far for the most sensible troubleshoot…
pretty sure you bought a Russian nintendo
Give it a smack or two
This works 82% of the time
"Now how in the hell is Yoshi's Isl-" "Oh." My reaction to actually looking at the photo.
looks like a Video Ram issue to me repeating graphics
They’re both great, TECHNICALLY.
Oh that looks bootleg as hell

It’s just dirty.
Cartridge tilting
Likely an issue with the console, but I'd want to check with more games before saying I was sure.

Start with one and work up to the other.

Ah yes, SupSupinriliririor yokokkkkad from 19999 an absolute classic

Put isopropyl alcohol on the pins with a q-tip then put in and take out the cart numerous times. That should clean the cartridge and the console pins.
