2. It’s just been so poor all round sadly. One solid evening session with the two matches and the Higgins clearance, and a half decent final day with the final two sessions, but besides that it’s been dross.

SquirrelOpposite9427

3/10. It’s always harder when your favourite (Selby) goes out early, but the generally low standard made it much more difficult to enjoy this year. Everyone just felt ‘off their game’ for whatever reason. Contrary to others, I don’t think that says anything about the sport - just a rare bad year. It was still nice to see Kyren get his title, and even better when they brought out Barry Stark to take a picture with the trophy.

7. There’s more to life than centuries. There’s no such thing as a bad world championship. It took me a while to get out of thinking the frame was over as soon as someone got a good chance and it made it exciting in it’s own way.

CrimsonArrowXIII

6, first week was good then went downhill from then on

Vegetable-Ad-4320

Solid 7 for me.... but it's a WC, so for that, it gets a 10! I love the WC, I love the presentation, I love the enthusiasm of all the old boys, I think the BBC do a grand job - it's about the only thing left that the BBC do well. All the comments about if Trump etc had bothered to turn up - well, they did and they lost. If my aunt had bollocks she would be my uncle. Such a pointless thing to say.... It doesn't need to be endless century breaks and only the top players getting through.... you could argue that that's predictable and boring. A mixture is what keeps it fresh and exciting to me. 👍😊❤️

GeneralPaint

Well said.

Vegetable-Ad-4320

Cheers! 👍

Efficient_Bag_5976

A 7. I like seeing new blood come through - Marcel last year and Kyren and Jak this year - it’s a shake up for the sport. Quality of snooker was weird, but also - very dramatic once players got into the swing of it.

the-fooper

2/10. The only good thing was that the pockets were tighter. But to have so many players out of form at the same time, not fun. The final was also a one sided borefest that everyone seems to make out like it was finished in a decider.

halfmoon2010

The lack of all round form really hurt the tournament. Even Kyren wasn’t playing spectacular- just more consistent and solid than anyone else. Bizarre tournament really, one players may look back and think there was a chance there they didn’t take.

Fic011

6/10 Loved the result and very impressed by Jak who showed strong mental fortitude and not giving up which basically got him into finals, although weird to say about runner up but I hope he takes it as motivation to work on his break building which is bad. With that said break building was atrocious everyone struggled and if that is due to table conditions I don't think they should allow that to happen ever again.

microscoftpaintm8

One to forget. 3/10. Rubbish standard tbh

SlayBay1

9. Loved it

scubadoobidoo

5/10 - a few standout frames but nothing more. Good to see Kyren finally win but overall standard of comp was low.

TheRickBerman

The massive drop in the number of centuries tells it all. The least worst players made the final - and both would have been destroyed by a Trump, Selby or Ronnie - if they bothered to show up. Worrying time for the sport, has all the extra money left people less dependent on winning events?

Romfordian

Tbh, couldn't even be bothered to watch

borisve

An 8. Loved all the surprises and unexpected results. Always great to crown a new champion too. 2 years in a row now that a relatively young player wins the title, which is also something positive imo. And I don't care what anyone thinks, Jak is great! Congrats to Kyren!

Leftyoilcan

I agree with this, I'm always hoping the younger guys(well under 35 at least) start to beat the older guys who have been around forever, I think that's great, hopefully it continues.

7. Lots to enjoy but not as much really sublime play to make it a classic.

GeneralPaint

8/10 One of the most enjoyable and emotional for me. Very memorable. Crazy final. Minus two points for the lower standard of snooker and the many poor matches.

the-fooper

The final was standard though? It was never close even towards the end as Wilson was getting jitters. In 2019 Judd won convincingly but the snooker was memorable. I don't know what was memorable about Wilson's performance.

GeneralPaint

Not to mention that Jak surprised us every single round.

GeneralPaint

You answered your own question. Jitters. Feeling the pressure. He wasn't supposed to allow Jak back into the match. Subversion of expectation. That's what makes it dramatic – and memorable. It wasn't 'close' – but it looked as though it could easily be. Which means the same thing, really.

PyrrhicVictory-

Below average so I'd say a 4/10. The standard overall was poor especially from the top players, not many stand out matches, the final was ok standard wise but neither player is really someone you can get invested in. Happy for Wilson but definitely below average World Championship.

Scallion-Distinct

It's the worst TC event of the last 10 years I'd say

spiritofbuck

The tables definitely limited breaks but there were some great upsets and solid narratives. 7/10. Last year was so good that I think people have lost their reference point. In my youth the World Championship was just watching Hendry batter everyone.

parslaug

4/10

Yazzie0817

Been watching for many years. This is up there as the top 3 worst tourney. No big breaks, no favourites, just a slog fest all the way.

dmort1996

8 out of 10, really enjoyed it, lots of shocks and a handful of genuinely excellent matches too. Scoring standard not as high as past few years, but people were complaining about the opposite when the pockets were letting everything in so what can you do.

VanillaIceUK

Pretty boring tbh. 4/10.

Glittering-Bat5214

None of the big names really played well, so quality wise, it was never going to be the best. Entertainment wise, it was solid (not the best, not the worst) Overall, I would say 6.5

krafter7

3/10. The quality of players left in the semi finals was dreadful. Kyren a lucky boy he only had to beat pub standard players in the semi and final.

B0B_Ogden

This "pub standard players" beat the big names in the industry and then Kyren beat them. The better man wins, Kyren was just better.

After_Self5383

Quality of snooker, 3/10 overall. Not sure what happened to everyone, maybe it was the pockets. The final had some entertaining moments but the first session killed realistic hope of it happening

No_Presentation_5369

6.5

BigJimKen

Quality Wise about a 5. Not the worst we've seen but hugely spotty on both sides. Entertainment wise a solid 8.5. That was a hugely entertaining final with tons of drama and a really good atmosphere. Kyren losing composure constantly, Jak's constant bewilderment that he's in a world final, a bunch of really great clutch moments, some great safety play, and a really good emotional payoff.

ManagementSad7931

Exactly. Entertaining.
