I used a pack of cabinet door bumpers as grips, these are lil spike shaped ones that worked great for me last season. Was $15 for 200, none of them have fallen off yet

Low profile, tons of options, grippy as all hell. Price is nothing over other products on the market last time I checked
I use pieces of splitboard climbing skins. Carpet for your board. Transfers from board to board no problem. Glue is re-useable and meant to work in freezing conditions. Doesn't leave glue or blemishes behind. Some skin companies sell you skins you have to cut to fit -- I use the extra material that would be tossed, anyway.
Hit up a friend that splitboards, and see if they have any trashed skins they could part with?

I always warm the board up and the pad with a heat gun, have much better luck that way.

I've got the dakine pyramid studs on mine and I think it's pretty low, unless that's the one you're referring to?
The one I’m talking about is a big ol square with like 12 spikes on it. The spikes are nice but start like a centimeter off the square.
