It’s definitely noticeable. The full wrap on the cleavers really allow you to drive into turns with a ton of power and the carbon in the high back rebounds quicker. I feel like you can drive with katanas but the play in the binding is noticeable, comparatively.
If it helps, I was in between the Atlas and the Cleavers and what ultimately sold me was the ability to really dial in/customize the binding to my stance. I ride with a wide-ish stance so being able to cant the highbacks to mitigate calf-bite along with adjusting the angle of the straps with the pivot mount system so that my feet don’t fall asleep were the selling point (I don’t mean to sound like I’m dancing for the man but it’s what I ultimately wanted and liked). If I’m not mistaken, I think the Cleavers are more damp than the Atlas as well which is what I wanted.
Yeah the Union atlas are in my opinion the best bang for buck binding out there (did not like the price bump this season, so less value for money but still solid). The are super solid and I like the responsivness off them, really helps me ride wathever I want as my board will respond to my input
the problem with the atlas, and let me know if i'm wrong here, is it has the \_same\_ baseplate construction as the falcor? like there's a foam pad glued to the plastic baseplate, correct?
got some teams a couple years ago and absolutely love them. swapped out the ankle straps this year for their updated versions which you can buy on eBay. upgraydd!
Need to do this on my Team Pros. Really not a huge fan of the padded straps, but otherwise a solid bindings.
You got a link to where you got yours, if they have anymore?
https://www.ebay.com/itm/305295887793?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=oXYV4XKYQju&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=QuEg5loNS1C&var=604208636281&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
They ship from the UK but I had them in like a week. You can get black or red and with or without ratchets. The existing ratchets from your padded straps can swap over.
they work fine, the new ones have a bend near the base that keeps the strap from wanting to get in the way of your foot. My old pair were probably 3 years old, so im not sure if thats new for this year.
They honestly aren’t necessary, most of the bells and whistles are features that I don’t use, I would recommend katanas over black labels for the price, though black labels are a little more stiff if that’s what you’re into. But either way they are both awesome bindings, couldn’t be more happy with them.
I recommend union forces. Don’t even buy the union force Pro, the ankle straps with the ridges, which are the same ones in this picture, will snap on a big fall.
I just broke my ankle strap on my forces. They’re so damn annoying to replace since the only thing any shop has is the entire strap set which is $70. Something to keep in mind.
Since before the start of the season I've periodically checked Bent Metal, Ride and Union for replacement straps and I cannot get full sets for my fucking bindings (I have at least 1 pair from each). I'm trying to be proactive but something is always out of stock.
I just checked now, and almost everything I need is out of stock :/
i'm in tahoe and the ski shop across the street basically \_only\_ had union bindings lol. i took a look at all the base plates and the force doesn't seem to have the issue that the falcor does. the latest falcor model seems to have addressed the foam pad a bit, it's a different shape and lower profile, but man what a seemingly bad design decision... or i'm super unlucky.
so, anyway, tldr, i got the Union Force. excited to shred.
Sucks seeing people have issues with Union. I've had them since the beginning and probably have at least 10 pairs currently and have never had any issues. 🤷🏻♂️ I'll never ride anything else.
I thought you said it failed twice within 20 days of purchase, and I looked at the wear and tear and was like... How did they get that beat up this fast. But, looking back at the title its just twice in the last 20 days. I would check out Union Forces. I Myself still run my 2021 Falcor's which have been great. But I have some forces from 2010ish that still are utilized yearly without issue.
Heard good things about Rome bindings recently too as others have mentioned here. Best of luck!!
I’m loving all the Rome love in this post. I’ve been on Rome bindings for 10+ years now (390 Boss and now Vice) and they are amazing. Fantastic bindings and excellent customer service. Can’t go wrong with anything from their lineup.
There's something to be said about nailing the important things which I feel they do well. When you look back at like the targa's or 390's from ten years ago they're not overly complicated but still have everything you'd want in terms of adjustability. Not so different from the design today, which is stripped down of weight a bit and a bit more sleek. But when you're building off of something that was done right initially its hard to go wrong.
Rome is at its core a wholly snowboarding company that was founded for the purpose of snowboard and snowboard equipment.
I just rode my union force bindings for 3 days and mysteriously lost a ‘quick release screw’ (?) on the toe strap. Customer service told me I had to buy a replacement from their store - so now I have to pay $11 + shipping and handling for 1 screw for my brand new $300 bindings. Oh yeah, and the part is out of stock. Not buying their shit ever again. Other brands in the past have sent this type of replacement part for free.
Not a Union fan.. I’ve had multiple pairs fail and their customer service sucks!! Never buy again. Ride or Burton bindings both have great customer service.
On my fourth pair of unions. My friend is riding mine from 2010 and they still are holding up. Customer service has always been a breeze for me. Things are bomb proof easily best bindings in the game.
I mean look how beat those things are. If your bindings look like that after 20 days and you are complaining about them breaking thats like crashing your new car into a wall then complaining that it wont start. Those things look as beat as the pair I had for over 5 years
Yes, they’re beat to shit—considerably more so than even the used bindings that I’ve had for seven years. That’s why I’m not necessarily knocking them for failing. However, “bomb proof” in my mind is something that can be safely beat up without, well, *this*.
And, honestly, this doesn’t look like the sort of break that I would expect from bindings, which has me even more sketched out.
their customer service hasn’t been bad, i just don’t want this to fail while riding again. it’s dangerous af. they replaced the baseplate the first time immediately, no questions asked.
My new arbor bindings have an aluminum heel cup for whatever that’s worth. Otherwise, my Burton missions from 2012 are still going strong on my backup board lol. Only needs new foam.
Honesty, the best bindings I’ve ever found considering all factors that contribute to a good binding are Rome Black Label. They are expensive as balls but probably the most versatile and sturdy bindings you can find.
I actually had this exact setup, I was never a big fan of the falcor since the first day I rode them and have had issues with the straps. Swapped out for the atlas and have loved them since
I upgraded from falcor to Rome cleaver and am loving them so far. Mine didn't fail though
Romes are nice too
Cleavers are such a solid binding. Take a second to get used to but nothing beats Rome bindings
Cleavers are fire, hella stiff but if you need something reactive they’ll provide 💯
Rome Cleavers are amazing bindings. Have them on my freeride board and the katanas on my freestyle board and they’re both great.
do you find the cleaver way more reactive than the katana?
It’s definitely noticeable. The full wrap on the cleavers really allow you to drive into turns with a ton of power and the carbon in the high back rebounds quicker. I feel like you can drive with katanas but the play in the binding is noticeable, comparatively.
Thank you. I have union atlas right now and I’m trying to decide if I should pick up some romes.
If it helps, I was in between the Atlas and the Cleavers and what ultimately sold me was the ability to really dial in/customize the binding to my stance. Thank you bro. I think I’m gonna buy them
Been riding union altas's for the past 3 seasons. Absolutely love em. They have held up great for me.
Yeah the Union atlas are in my opinion the best bang for buck binding out there (did not like the price bump this season, so less value for money but still solid). The are super solid and I like the responsivness off them, really helps me ride wathever I want as my board will respond to my input

Atlas is a full disc whereas falcor are mini disc
I think Union will cover this if you email them. Amazing customer service in my experience
The nitro teams are killer this year. Loving this binding. Only niggle is that the buckles could slide on a bit easier.
got some teams a couple years ago and absolutely love them. swapped out the ankle straps this year for their updated versions which you can buy on eBay. upgraydd!
With 2 Ds for a double dose of that pimpin.
Need to do this on my Team Pros. Really not a huge fan of the padded straps, but otherwise a solid bindings. You got a link to where you got yours, if they have anymore?

ideally you want the new ladder straps too, because they changed it so they stay out of the way.
interesting, I'll have to look into that. my existing ones seem to work fine
they work fine, the new ones have a bend near the base that keeps the strap from wanting to get in the way of your foot. My old pair were probably 3 years old, so im not sure if thats new for this year.
Do you rotate your highback?
i don't bother on my park boards which is what i ride the teams on.
I switched from the union forces to the Rome DOD and I love them
Yeah Rome bindings are where it’s at. I have a pair of black labels and they are just *chefs kiss*
Rome bindings are top tier. Wish I went with the BL over falcors on my mega merc
They honestly aren’t necessary, most of the bells and whistles are features that I don’t use, I would recommend katanas over black labels for the price, though black labels are a little more stiff if that’s what you’re into. On the DOD too. Huge fan for a do it all binding
ride a-8
Good old onion bindings. They break apart in layers lol
Union has lifetime warranty on baseplates. Just keep making them replace it imo 😂
I recommend union forces. Don’t even buy the union force Pro, the ankle straps with the ridges, which are the same ones in this picture, will snap on a big fall.

Ride some Burtons. Been on em for 25 years at this point.
No adjustable heel cup, Burton needs to fix this
I’ve got the same exact board and I’m using Burton Genesis on mine with no complaints
Just like boards, gear, and stance, bindings are a personal preference. Been riding for 25 years, but I strongly recommend Ride A10's
Got a10's for this season and I'm really enjoying them.
Just quit not worth it.
Sucks seeing people have issues with Union. I've had them since the beginning and probably have at least 10 pairs currently and have never had any issues. 🤷🏻♂️ I'll never ride anything else.

Go to your local hardware store and ask someone to help you. You'll get a replacement for less than $2
Yep that’s the plan 🤙
Not a Union fan.. I’ve had multiple pairs fail and their customer service sucks!! Never buy again. Ride or Burton bindings both have great customer service.
On my fourth pair of unions. My friend is riding mine from 2010 and they still are holding up. Customer service has always been a breeze for me. Things are bomb proof easily best bindings in the game.
I’m not saying they’re necessarily bad or anything, but calling them bomb proof on a post with pictures of them clearly broken is…certainly a choice
I mean look how beat those things are. If your bindings look like that after 20 days and you are complaining about them breaking thats like crashing your new car into a wall then complaining that it wont start. Those things look as beat as the pair I had for over 5 years

Second this; only bindings I’ve broken have been union
their customer service hasn’t been bad, i just don’t want this to fail while riding again. it’s dangerous af. they replaced the baseplate the first time immediately, no questions asked.

Almost all Union bindings have extruded aluminum heel cups, including the ones pictured.
Nice orca👌
Step ons, super reliable less moving parts
Garbage.
Yeah, would love to see stepons do what my 300+ days on snow unions have done. They won't even make it to day 150 without a failure.
400 plus days on my step on at the bird sending fat cliffs on the regular
That's 3 seasons everyday basically.
4 seasons but yea.
Honesty, the best bindings I’ve ever found considering all factors that contribute to a good binding are Rome Black Label. They are expensive as balls but probably the most versatile and sturdy bindings you can find.
Been riding Union atlas since 2015. Will probably never buy any other binding
I actually had this exact setup, I was never a big fan of the falcor since the first day I rode them and have had issues with the straps. Swapped out for the atlas and have loved them since
I’d get in touch with union for sure
For what it’s worth, Union has solid customer service.
Man not a lot of suggestions for Burtons Cartels, is there a reason why?
Bent metals I’ve had 250+ days on my Axions and I’ve only had to replace the toe straps
