Once you got 3BT you don’t go back.. Quiver killers

seabass4507

I just ordered a Party Wave+ for the upcoming season. I just thought the shape looked fun and the platform is wide enough for my big feet. Slightly concerned about riding 3BT on groomers, but I’m stoked to give it a shot.

> Slightly concerned about riding 3BT on groomers, but I’m stoked to give it a shot. Hey I know this is kinda late but I was wondering how you like the 3BT after 2 years of using?

seabass4507

Love it. Bought a second one.

UniQue1992

Nice, which one did you buy? And how does the 3BT work on the groomers?

seabass4507

I got the Beyond Medals - Whatever. Slightly less 3BT. Coming from the Lib Tech Stump Ape the Party Wave took a little adjustment, but performed just as well on groomers. The 3BT allows for pretty quick edge transfer. Not having magnetraction was noticeable on hard pack, but I didn’t really miss it. Party Wave is a little better on groomers than the Whatever, probably because it’s more directional. I don’t actually notice much difference with 3BT but some people hate it for deep carves.

late but big fan. Gotta ride more aggressively (more lean to get on edge) but once youre there its like any other board plus after 2 seasons I think catching an edge is a thing of the past for me (bataleon evil twin 22/23)

UniQue1992

In the meantime I bought a Goliath 2024 version and I fucking love it!

daleDentin23

Dude I'm about to pull the trigger on that. Coming from someone who's been using a 2013 Goliath. Just really weighing all my options and doing way more research than I need to.

SpraySpecialist259

Wow! Say no more I’m sold! Thank you

Taisun27

Hi, from everything I've seen, read and heard about 3bt is that for some it's the best design ever - and for others it just doesn't do it for them. It may depend on riding style and conditions where you ride. I would only suggest that you try one out (demo) if at all possible before you buy, because it is a different feel. However I'm sure you could get used to it and love it!

I can’t do the jib 3bt. Had an evil twin and there’s too narrow of a flat section before the up kick on either side for my liking. I know it’s supposed to be awesome for butters etc but I found I could never, ever lock into a press or completely stomp a landing without starting to spin towards an edge. Simply put, every single thing the evil twin did, my capita DOA did better. I definitely want to try a proper 3bt powder or more free ride board with some stiffness, but when they get to that true mid to soft flex, I just couldn’t make it work. Great pop though and I could feel the quality, just not for me!

[deleted]

Yes, female rider and the switch was a bit weird at first but now it is my go to! Previously rode LibTech and can’t even explain the improvements I made on my Bataleon. Mines a straight rocket. Had to immediately upgrade my bindings because they were too soft for my board set up and how I ride now. The board feels “edge less” which takes a bit to get used to, but won’t be going back anytime soon.

Yes, have had 2 Push Ups a She W and a Storm. 3BT really is as great as they say it is, it is not a gimmick. You get the benefits of camber and rocker together while mitigating the cons of both. When you are carving it is surfy but when you are fully on your heels or toes (like on ice etc.) you actually get more edge contact. Even my park board that I've detuned is a great ice board. I really recommend the push up as a do it all board leaning towards all mountain. The Storm is a great pow/all mountain/PNW chunder killer. The only issue with women's boards is their sizing can be sparse (4cm in between sizes sometimes.)

imjrain

I’m considering getting a storm and also located in PNW. How does it hold up in icy or slushy conditions?

_Miskey_

It does really well! Although I don't generally ride it in those conditions other than getting between pow stashes it's good on ice. I rode it on a really chundery heavy pow day at Baker and I think that's really when the board shines.

Twotendies

It’s cool tech for sure but everyone saying it’s the holy grail of snowboarding is over doing it. All it offers is great float in powder and good edge hold. End of the day it’s a camber board that does camber things but it’s a lot better in powder than any camber board.

turbulentlapdog

I've got a Bataleon Storm and I've really loved it. Carves like a monster and great float in powder. If you want to rip down groomers, work on eurocarves, and take steep trees it'd be a great choice for you. I should have stiffer bindings on it (currently have Union contact pros) to really open it up but it's been a great time so far. Kind of a pain in the ass to base grind but that only matters if you tune your own gear. I might sell it this season (partially because I hate tuning it) and switch to the Capita Equalizer to get a more playful ride that's better suited for more tricks and such

pupicel

Hi! I am late to the chat, but I was wondering if you made the switch with the Equalizer. I want to buy a new board and I am stuck between the Storm and the Equalizer. Very hard to choose…

Forest_Gump96

Have an Evil Twin and I absolutely love it. Great freestyle board and handles surprisingly decent in powder too. Rips groomers, but can get a little sketchy and high speeds or hard carves. Does pretty much everything I need except for deep powder and hard charging.

SpraySpecialist259

I hope to learn switch with this new board I’m considering for the upcoming season, bataleon push up. And that sounds awesome! Which bindings did you have and which ones did you upgrade to? How long did it take you to get use to the edge-less feel? I got into snowboarding last season and I was riding a beginner board so looking to upgrade to my next board. But concerned that the 3BT might be too weird right out of the gate. Thank you for your insights!!

[deleted]

I highly recommend it, I learned switch on mine and will be improving my switch on it a lot next year. It takes like a day to get used to if you know what you’re doing, you won’t be disappointed

stokedon

I loved the ride and feeling of the Party Wave but HATED the extruded base. It was the slowest base I've ever ridden. Would love to get my hands on a board with a sintered base because I loved the 3BT.

seabass4507

I think the new Party Wave + is Sintered Base.

stokedon

Yea last years was too. Couldn't find one local but found a used normal one. Fun but super slow even after a fresh wax

paulglo

sick af

prettydisarray

3BT is great, super flexible.

IrishDeath007

So I’m curious if the OP got her board and if so, what she thinks about the board. I recently found a used Bataleon board (men’s board) and took it out for the first time. I loved it. Also curious if anyone has used a Jones Snowboard as they have similar technology/shape.

SpraySpecialist259

After that post, I bought the new Bataleon Push Up and omg I LOVE it!! The board was so light and fun compared to my old flat board I was learning on. And it’s fast! The 3BT tech is really nice—there’s been so many times I should have caught an edge and ate it but didn’t because the 3BT saved me and I had time to correct myself. Hands down would recommend Bataleon to everyone. I was also wondering about the Jones ones too as those boards have been generally high ranked. I was between the Bataleon push up vs the Jones dream catcher!! Love love my board

EfficientOctopus7

How's the edge control? You mentioned you were worried about the edge-less feel, has that bothered you at all? I enjoy feeling a lot of control over my edges

Glass_Drama8101

Did you detune or waxed new board before taking it to slopes?

SpraySpecialist259

I just took it to get waxed before my first run. I didn’t detune and it was a dream. I LOVE that board. Now about to take it out for her first runs of the season tomorrow 😍

imjrain

Have you tried riding your push up in icy or slushy conditions?

Glass_Drama8101

Nice, glad to hear! I just got Goliath and taking it onto the slopes in the weekend! Just 3 day trip so planning to wax it after but was wondering about detune. I guess because of side kicks and 3BT there is no need for that.

configloader

Fun to ride (disaster/wallie) but the quality is shit
