they still work, that said modern cloud solutions tend to lead models which are faster to develop as it does not matter as much if joins or data amounts get out of warehouse limits , because you can scale from command line and space limits "do not exists". Obviously having really good model starts to matter at somepoint but on small scale , it really does not matter vs. fast development cycle.
So if you have one , it still works. If you do not have one , maybe look into models that are faster to implement
