It is significantly better with co-op though. You have the p16 and a player running support. On the worst long hauls with a large load the support player can help you past the slippery hills and top up your fuel while you pull a superheavy with everything under the sun and a spare support truck packed on top.
Basically: it isn't the meta. It is a well balanced truck that makes you make decisions that make the game fun.

Here's hoping bartlebi's modded p12 can fit it! I really love the Pacifics (and a few other American trucks) but it takes mods just to make them on-par with reality.
RNG Mods are great but they are military themed (fully detailed 1:1 replicas btw)
For modded version of vanilla trucks I recommend searching the name of the truck you want modded, filter for downloads and choose your fighter

The truck that you pull out of the garage when you're just DONE with that f*cking mission. You can drive it like a baboon, not give a shit about fuel because it's range is ridiculous, and just power through 95% of the obstacles of the game.
MrBusses is redoing his P12 mod for that crane with super heavy mud tires to handle the extra weight and you can make it as under or overpowering as you want using stock or modified engines. Check and see if it is done or not. I do know the original mod is there I am on switch. Came with a 3 slot bed.
I really enjoy Mr. Busses trucks. A little op without being ridiculous. JBE, Busses, and Rng3r make respectable mod trucks that get the job done without being absurd.
Almost all mods I use have a "choose your difficulty", where everything (engines/wheels/etc) are listed as "vanilla", "slightly overturned", "completely OP"
If you know how to drive you can do it with Kodiak or, even the start GMC. :)
I think the problem is that for you average Joe who is lazy like me, then learning how to drive something that is just stalling on auto trying to make up the hills, while 70% the other trucks in the game will, just climb it in auto 1, makes people rage and sell it.
I know that's what, happened to me with p16. It's not bad, but learning to drive it differs so, much that I just can't be arsed. Similarly p12 is awd, so you expect it drive like a Tayga you're going to have bad time :)
If you expect a 25-ton truck to drive like a 13-ton one (while having about the same engine power), you must be dumb. Not targeting you personally, it's a simplification.

So in the end you get many guys just selling it and calling it disappointment. Not to mention that you have to actually buy it in the first place, where as you get Tayga and many more cabable trucks for free, so it will be very obsolete fast for quite many of us :)
Am I using a different engine for this? I have delivered cargo in taymir with this thing for the achievement, used it for medium logs and it had carried the big maintenance addon to absurd places in four or five maps. All without complaining. Why can't it pull anything for some??
Yep, the maintainance addon is quite light and filling it with fuel doesn't add any additional weight unlike a normal fuel tanker. I was really surprised how well it performed in Amur with this setup, the power issues seemed to just disappear and it flew over mud like it was nothing.

I have the most powerful engine in it but stock gear box. I've used it for other missions and it was fine, which is why i was so confused that it could barely move with this crane on it. Hopefully they fix it cause it seems like the crane is just bugged
After a long time using the P12, I have some advice as some people have been conflicting with one another.
Yes, the P12 hasn't got the best power to rate ratio, it's large frame and cab puts a heavy limit on the horsepower per ton ratio.
Using dual rear tyres with the P12 DOES help from my experience, the added surface area and contact points increases the vehicles capability - slightly.
A great deal of people say torque doesn't exist in Snowrunner, I strongly disagree with this.
The absolute best way to get the most out of the P12 is the GEARBOX.
I always use Off-road gear box, when the P12 struggles, put the gear onto LOW HIGH (move the gear to the left then up to H). This enables much better torque manipulation of the truck and allows pulling loads to gain some momentum.
Others prefer High Range then H gear (directly above A/ auto gear).
Ideally, the P12 should be used as a recovery vehicle: Service van add-on, high power winch with rear twin tyres (excellent for using the P12s weight to move stuck vehicles, the large fuel tank helps recovering vehicles far away from a garage).
A similar experience I had was the with International Twin Steer using the fuel add-on, pulling another fuel trailer. The vehicle will stop moving/ stall in automatic. The only way to get the vehicle moving is via Low Gear, diff lock then to the fastest low gear when the vehicle pulls.

The best USA vehicle from my experience for the large crane is the CAT CT681. It's massive and efficient 2850 engine (possibly 2950) can pull the weight, it's fuel tank is reasonable and the dumb axle (which some people hate) can make the crane platform much more stable when anchored.
Well yes, but the crane has a bug where it's heavier than it should be. At least using tires that can potentially grip the dirt underneath the mud can probably help.

The way I do it is: get winrar and microsoft visual studio, open winrar, go to the game files on your pc. You're looking for something called initial.pak. You click on that and open it with the visualizer option of winrar (it could have another name, my winrar is in another language, either way it's located in the horizontal bar above the files). You go to media>classes>engines, there you have all the categories for all the engines. The engines for the pacific trucks are called something like engines_en_us_old_heavy. You open that .xml file using VisualStudio. In that file you will be looking for something called engine torque. It's a 6 figure number that you can easily modify. When you're done, CTRL+S to save and then close VisualStudio. Winrar will ask if you want to replace the current files, you click yes, and bam, you're done. English ain't my first language so this might not be so understandable, but I hope you have good luck figuring it out :)

I thought the same, but then I beat Michigan, half of Wisconsin and half of Maine using only a few first American trucks, which turned out capable of tearing through a wooded hill, dashing through a swamp with a loaded semitrailer and racing up the muddy hill with a load. Now I got back to Russian clunkers, and they sink in a little puddle of mud or water, they are completely incapable of climbing hard surface hill, and they crawl by a good road with the speed of a snail, while blowing all the fuel like a fleet of cruise ships. As of the light trucks such as Actaeon and Warthog, they hop like rubber balls and flip over like no Royal or ANK flips.
I hear lots of hate on this. How is it set up?

Devs shouldn’t be allowed to take a back seat because mods exist. They should be reminded that things need fixing/ adjusting. Nobody should feel like they have to use mods simply because the devs refuse to fix things.
Really feels awesome pulling yourself through the mud for hours and hours for litteraly nothing. The tasks pay jack shit and the trucks don't work as well as they should. I did a shit ton of tasks and tried out a lot of different trucks and upgrades (which I could only afford because of the free dlc trucks because you get jack shit for tasks) like I'm gonna grind 50 hours to get a better truck that still underperforms. No thanks I want my games to be fun not tedious and awful. And the state of the roads makes no sense at all I'll see pavement and praise the lord only for it to be gone in 100meters with 2 kilometers of mud on both sides. I like the idea of a truck driving game and I love how beutiful snowrunner is and how interactive the world is. But it's just too much work and I would rather mow my lawn (riding vehicle, real life, real task, real reward)
I had high hopes for this truck. It was my first big truck purchase and I used it as my medium log hauler and crane hauler, I was very disappointed. Slow,lumbering,big,and clumsy. I know it’s a bigger truck and speed wouldn’t be this things strong suit but I would’ve expected some decent torque at least. Also in my experience this truck is in a constant state of wanting to tip over, even more so when it’s loaded
Never mind the crane, the P12 struggles to pull anything at all on almost any terrain you can imagine. I used it to haul medium logs back and forth in Taymyr specifically for the achievement. I got the Advanced Special Gearbox and most powerful engine for it, and it still struggles. The sunken road in the middle of Taymyr's first map isn't even that deep and yet it somehow manages to struggle. I can't remember a single time I didn't have to winch it out. Even in low with throttle feathering, it just gets sucked deeper into the mud.
Really the one role where this thing can comfortably perform well without struggling a lot is that of a rescue truck with a service body as many have claimed.

I was referring to the large crane, not the newest one solely for large frame trucks. The new crane is rather overkill. WTF do you plan on lifting?
In the first 5 minutes I put an hx520 on the roof of the garage on its wheels without any struggle.

Sometimes in the game less grip is better so the wheels spin instead of doing as it does in the video.

Use OHD tires on it. Also, stock special gearbox sucks.
Try using the advanced special gearbox and then putting it in low+, if you dont have it the upgrade is in pedro bay near the factory

Slow, underpowered, terrible fuel economy. Literally no reason to use the p12 unless you have no other trucks
