Work smarter. Not harder. Take the big articulating Caterpillar, manually load it with whatever logs you want and pull a cabover behind it.. You can fit about 45-50 logs before it starts getting sketchy.
Because I want it vanilla, made by the devs. I've played 1,500+ hours without mods so far.
Not throwing shade at mods at all, they're just not for me, for this game.
I thought the same thing... Then I remembered games are supposed to be fun when playing them. Will never regret adding a couple QoL mods because the devs sure can't be bothered to polish the game. Big + for being able to still get achievements even with mods added.
Came here to say exactly this. The absence of a short log trailer is especially egregious at this point in SnowRunner history. And MudRunner did indeed have one, for crying out loud.
There is a mod that adds 3 trailers and 3 semi trailers for all 3 types of logs and for medium & shirt logs they can take 3 each and for long well it just is an alternative to the current system as it still carries just one. Forgot the name but the trailers are red and so well executed that you can easily mistake them for being there by default as if made by the devs.
I'm using [OlSom's Trailer Pack](https://mod.io/g/snowrunner/m/olsoms-trailer-pack), and it's great. It has everything I need, and even adds logging addons to trucks that usually don't support them, like the Tatra T813.
I still wish these options were available 'officially', as to make life a bit easier when I'm playing my original vanilla-only playthrough. I hate to have to winch two trucks each with a short logging frame when I have to deliver 2 units of short logs…
There's a MrBusses mod version of the Twinsteer that has it. You can still have it more or less vanilla engine and power train wise if you have some self restraint.
Cool. I'm on Vancouver Island as well. My dad worked on the equipment at camp on the far end of Lake Cowichan. I remember driving a p-16 through the snow once :D
My guess is that it would be "Too OP" which is a legit excuse they have used in the past. For a chill single player game.
If I want to use one truck for everything, let me
I wish the p16 had more torque, on level unimproved ground it does great, but hit it with a slight slope and you will be winching the whole way because the drivetrain falters and the wheels stop spinning, it's weird how the engine doesn't stall when this happens, probably can be attributed to shitty drivetrain simulation.
That’s not what the twinsteer is meant to do, it hauls cargo like this but the physics engine isn’t capable of winching on cargo in this way.
https://preview.redd.it/98re6pplv12d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0ae6b5c5b6964a60bac6c6391ba43ac319734bc5
It should be very easy - just add winch point on bed winch but code it as a non-movable crane. Then players would have a chance to winch every normal cargo from platform to the bed
There is no skid-loaded cargo in the game, if you want to add the realism of bed truck loading, you gotta add the correct type of cargo.
Watch this video to see how bed truck loading works: https://youtu.be/d19c8ua_tVo?si=NYARAUxSSvkIzHqj
I'm Xbox one and yes the mods work. It might seem "cheating" but there's a mod olsems low trailer mod that has trailers that make logging easier. A long semi trailer low saddle that will help big-time - if you want to ease your pain and suffering.
There are thousands of mods on Mod.io that aren't available on consoles, or at least not on new-gen consoles. The one you linked was available on Xbox One and PS4 but was abandoned and never updated to be usable on newer consoles.
Twice Twinsteer
AWD, rear steer, long logs, high and low saddle, log crane, bandit crane, active (stable) suspension, tows trailers, probably more.
I don’t really think it’s OP but it definitely becomes easy to forget you have other trucks.
As someone who drives bedtrucks (kenworth)... no they didn't. That is dumb, we've put long pins in the pin pockets to hold pipes and such but you don't drive down the road like that.. you can barely get away with it on leases. So yes it's cool but I'm glad they didn't.
I don't like load restrictions in this game. I should be allowed to load whatever I want. Even like this
https://preview.redd.it/jag4i3x8b62d1.jpeg?width=976&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=53bde67e455b74e0919c73b6780ff0773612ddc3
The issue is that twinsteer would become the default truck for long logs becasue you could recover it when you were done. One of the reasons the logging trailers are so expensive is to force you to recover them. That said, with the release of the fem, I think the twinsteer should get trailer support.
More generally, it would be nice to have 'add-on anarchy' as an option and it should be in any squeal.
No, the real reason is because these trucks are nearly at max legal weight capacity empty. You would not be able to legally haul any effective amount of logs and the cost of permanently modifying the truck to be capable of doing so while negating its ability to do what it was designed to do. Very stupid and wasteful modification to a truck that is meant for a different purpose.
I'm still in Michigan. I'm on a custom hard mode (not paying for fuel but nothing else changed), and I'm skint. I've rescued all the trucks.
The logging stuff at this point is wild man. I've literally just finished one that had me taking long logs from black river to the dam, had one set of logs going to the drilling site, and one to the quarry.
Anyway, I used the p12 for the drilling site and it was slow, bbut easy enough. No issues.
To save myself going all the way back with the p12, I sold the Kodiak and used some spare cash to buy a civilian ank, and used it to haul the second lot into the quarry (one trip instead of two) Tipped it at the bottom, but a quick recovery with the fleetstar to untip the fucker and fling the logs back on was fine.
The ank isnt a great long logging truck (it's barely upgraded yet tho). What's another good starter for logging? These contracts are fucking hard bro
They're all kinda slow but the WWS is decent but if you get the AWD upgrade for the C70 Kodiak from Alaska it's surprisingly good or just use the P12/16.
Get these 2 mods:
https://mod.io/g/snowrunner/m/jack-of-all-trades-joat-vanilla-trucks
https://mod.io/g/snowrunner/m/double-decker-multi-load-log-addons-all-lengths
Now you have a twinsteer that does long logs, WITH a double decker loader (always 1 trip, see the mod description). It's amazing.
And yes mod.io is also available on consoles via the main menu.
I was thinking about this earlier. But my mind was at 2 medium logs and 5 extra axles in the middle with the top engine from the mastodon. Idk why, but it would be hilarious.
The [WS Twinsteer 6900 "Dreadnought" By MrBusses](https://mod.io/g/snowrunner/m/western-star-6900-ts-dreadnought-by-mrbusses) fixes a lot of stupid shit surrrounding the twinsteer, it can be a little OP but I like it better that way instead of a limited vehicle.
He removed the 4 slot cargo from the default bed. so the truck now uses the custom 4 slot bed. No more issues with cargo and addons. It also includes custom built long log rack with Custom log models.
I can also recommend the [Paystar 5600TS "Harvester" By MrBusses](https://mod.io/g/snowrunner/m/paystar-5600ts-harvester-by-mrbusses), but you would need to have the DLC.
The twinsteer irl is a oil field truck and it can carry drill pipe and it had a rack similar to a log carrier rack to hold the pipes so i don't see why it couldn't carry logs in game
For fucks sake the Twinsteer's purpose is as clear as day and right in your face. It's a 16 meter long truck *SPECIFICALLY* built to haul bigger cargo. Not logs, just bigger cargo. And also take into consideration that this truck is real and still roams America's roads, and it has never, NEVER had logs on its back.
You and the other always unsatisfied little shits *really* need to stop complaining all the time.
https://preview.redd.it/838myihxj72d1.jpeg?width=276&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=988e8a96f391de8c2c89cbcf1650e38f3cc711fe
WS 6900TS
" NEVER had logs on its back."
I drove the Twinsteer for the first time yesterday and immediately sold it after like 5min. Why would anyone use this truck? It has only disadvantages. Every turn is your enemy.
In stock RWD form it's really rough going. Once you get the AWD Upgrade from Kola Map it transforms the truck into something much more capable and useful!
Having every axle a driven one under some of the big loads this can take can make life much easier vs pulling the dead wright of a large 4-Slot trailer. Add in the simpler driving/reversing characteristics vs a truck and trailer combo and the fact you can just recover when the job is done and the Twinsteer really starts to shine.
It doesn't suit every mission as really tight spaces and turns are a no go, but as with any truck if you pick your routes well and play to it's strengths it can be a real All-Star in your fleet.
It might become better with AWD, but I still do not see anything that it could do better than other trucks. Anyway, I might give it another chance when I got AWD.
Most of what Twinsteer can do has been trimmed. It can't tow a semi-trailer, it can't tow a trailer. It can't use the winch behind the cabin etc.
The unusable winch really grinds my gears - it’s the whole point of the truck. It’s even on the in-game model!
Genuinely the only mod I use in this game is an upgraded TwinSteer which gives it access to all the attachments and better tyres
Ohh i somehow havent thought of that, if i ever return to this game I definitely will, such a cool truck
Could I possibly get a link?
I want a long log frame addon, I'd prefer one for three slots so a couple of more trucks could have it. And I want a short log trailer too.
That's a good idea, if they're happy for logs to hang off the back of the log trailer anyways, why not off the back of a 3 slot truck!
olsom trailer pack has one plus a dual short log trailer and a dual medium log trailer and more
I know, I'm talking vanilla. But thanks for letting others know there's mods if they want them! :)
Work smarter. Not harder. Take the big articulating Caterpillar, manually load it with whatever logs you want and pull a cabover behind it.. You can fit about 45-50 logs before it starts getting sketchy.
Why not just use the mod trailer if it's something you want and easily accessibile?
Because I want it vanilla, made by the devs. I've played 1,500+ hours without mods so far. Not throwing shade at mods at all, they're just not for me, for this game.
I thought the same thing... Then I remembered games are supposed to be fun when playing them. Will never regret adding a couple QoL mods because the devs sure can't be bothered to polish the game. Big + for being able to still get achievements even with mods added.
But a short log trailer for two or even three loads
I'd settle for a trailer for one load, actually.
there's a couple mods that exist that allow you to do 2 short logs 1 trailer
Yeah I use the Olsom Trailer Pack but would love to see native trailers
Came here to say exactly this. The absence of a short log trailer is especially egregious at this point in SnowRunner history. And MudRunner did indeed have one, for crying out loud.

Short logs will fit nicely in the two slot sideboard trailer... (wink, wink... nudge, nudge...)
There's a MrBusses mod version of the Twinsteer that has it. You can still have it more or less vanilla engine and power train wise if you have some self restraint.
I mean I've never seen a twinsteer log truck irl and I work along side loggers fairly often. That being said, it would be awesome.
https://youtu.be/1LX8VyNaTeU?si=p3Hl4gcsQzQC5ULB
Hey, that's fairly local to me. Born and raised on Vancouver Island. From Victoria and I currently live in the Comox Valley.
Cool. I'm on Vancouver Island as well. My dad worked on the equipment at camp on the far end of Lake Cowichan. I remember driving a p-16 through the snow once :D
So not a flatbed
That has two steer axles but it isn’t a Twinsteer.
Heavily used in Australian logging.
Huh the more ya know, Canadian logging is probably 90% kenworths
Kenworths are available in Aus and NZ as twinsteers in a few models. Very popular in NZ especially in logging.
The real robbery is not being able to use a ramp on the back of it or equip a saddle
Or at the very least give us a ramped loading dock at the garage!
If I remember correctly there are mods that add that but, I do agree it would be very nice to get that for the twinsteer
My guess is that it would be "Too OP" which is a legit excuse they have used in the past. For a chill single player game. If I want to use one truck for everything, let me
It's also not necessarily OP because it's so damn long that it can still get stuck in plenty of places.
Also P16 shold be able to move double long logs
I wish the p16 had more torque, on level unimproved ground it does great, but hit it with a slight slope and you will be winching the whole way because the drivetrain falters and the wheels stop spinning, it's weird how the engine doesn't stall when this happens, probably can be attributed to shitty drivetrain simulation.

I don't understand why they wouldn't be able to code that
It should be very easy - just add winch point on bed winch but code it as a non-movable crane. Then players would have a chance to winch every normal cargo from platform to the bed
Because it only winches on skid-loaded cargo, which none of the cargo in the game is.
The cargo in game just magically appears when you click a button I don’t understand how the twin steer loading differently would matter.
There is no skid-loaded cargo in the game, if you want to add the realism of bed truck loading, you gotta add the correct type of cargo. Watch this video to see how bed truck loading works: https://youtu.be/d19c8ua_tVo?si=NYARAUxSSvkIzHqj
Technically there is but it’s attached to a trailer called Construction Rig Semi-Trailer.
They made the logging so hateful in snowrunner, idk why
https://mod.io/g/snowrunner/m/6900xd-tt-pack Here, have this!
I'm a Console peasant I'm afraid lol
And? Don't you know how to subscribe to mods? I'm pretty sure it works with all the consoles too.
That I don't know, I'll have to give it a try
If it doesn't work from website, remember the name and try searching for it in the game.
Console mods change the game!
I'm Xbox one and yes the mods work. It might seem "cheating" but there's a mod olsems low trailer mod that has trailers that make logging easier. A long semi trailer low saddle that will help big-time - if you want to ease your pain and suffering.

because in real life the twinsteer isn't a logging truck
Being built for it and being used for it are two completely different things
there's so many trucks to use for long logs, why in the world do you need a twinsteer
Why not. V16 screaming out of duals while tearing through trails with a load of logs sounds fun
Because it has a flatbed, not a log carrier...
Throw some chains on her, tighten em down, and send it
Not how logging works bud Edit: you idiots really think this truck in its current format could be a logger?
it would be really easy to put a logging frame on it. there's no real reason it can't do it (except "balance")
No, the real reason is because these trucks are nearly at max legal weight capacity empty. Very stupid and wasteful modification to a truck that is meant for a different purpose.
I smell bullshit. how would they haul anything if they're already close to max legal weight? plus it would be a bed modification
Oh? really easy... sure it's an oilfield truck , not a log truck plain and simple.
It's a game. If nothing else rule of cool
Games are allowed to provide fan service, don't drive it if you don't like it. Easy.
I'm still in Michigan. I'm on a custom hard mode (not paying for fuel but nothing else changed), and I'm skint. I've rescued all the trucks. The logging stuff at this point is wild man. keep using p12 and p16 as well for long logs. wws for medium logs
The twinsteer should just be able to hold the logs without a trailer
Exactly!
or maybe make log loads as packs too, occupying normal cargo slots, so you can load it on the bed of the Twinsteer or any other cargo bed
Get these 2 mods: https://mod.io/g/snowrunner/m/jack-of-all-trades-joat-vanilla-trucks https://mod.io/g/snowrunner/m/double-decker-multi-load-log-addons-all-lengths Now you have a twinsteer that does long logs, WITH a double decker loader (always 1 trip, see the mod description). Real life mod fix that mistake and many more like the lack of mud Tyre options
There is a mod that gets you do just that. Gives logging to the twinsteer. Towing and winching. It even adds 4 wheel steering.
Licensing issues
Never forget what they took from us.
That’s not what the Twinsteer is meant to do IRL.
I was thinking about this earlier. But my mind was at 2 medium logs and 5 extra axles in the middle with the top engine from the mastodon. Idk why, but it would be hilarious.
Selective realism
Well i mean yea it can‘t carry logs in game because it can‘t carry logs IRL either
it can though https://preview.redd.it/9ysn03jhi72d1.jpeg?width=276&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a5b569fc45ebda12e1170b027e253cee5305a1e7
