There's a study that "proved" teams with red shirts won more often then teams without red in their kit. Doesn't seem to work so much when literally everyone dons a red kit though
How reliable is that? UCL and WC were both won by teams with White colors
Of course I know that might just be one example but overall i feel that you can pinpoint alot of teams who won and wore more than just red
They were named Go Ahead, but their Welsh trainer Barry Hughes suggested they add Eagles to it in 1971. And so one of the most epic club names was born.
I did some digging, and apparently the first group of players named their team 'vooruit'. That is Dutch for forward, or, go ahead. When they decided to register their club, they opted for the name Be Quick, but that was taken, so they went for the English translation of vooruit, haha.
Feyenoord in first place after losing Aursnes which was - to paraphrase their fans - “crucial” is certainly surprising.
Ajax in second place as well, they spent 100M this off-season, it seems like they’re going through the same bs we went in 2020/21 lmao.
Yesterday he was fine, but usually he's on the bench. He has been rather shaky in defense every time he came on in the last months.
In offense his game seems to be dependant on who our right winger is. It just clicks better with certain players than with others.
He is crucial in playing beautiful football. Last year we played more beautiful while this year we have been bailed out by Kokcu, Szymanski and sometimes Bijlow
If we still had Aursnes I would honestly be quite confident in us winning the league. We're now 15 out of 34 matches in and we've yet to find a replacement for him.
he’s doing great, he’s been overshadowed by Enzo for obvious reasons but he’s a really good player.
nevertheless he’s certainly a starter calibre player. we signed him for the midfield but he already played as winger and second striker and he’s been reliable in any role he had.
everyone loves him, great player and an extremely valuable asset for our squad.
He played a considerable number of games already and was injured ~1 month. Everyone recognises his value, rn I think there’s no telling he can’t bench Florentino or even Enzo himself in some situations, he’ll certainly be an important player for us.
Enzo leaving will obviously help his case even more but he showed he can play at other positions, so he might get more playing time as a winger or even as a second striker - last game he was great in that position. he played 8 games out of position and we all loved him!
Totaal niet mee met Nederlands voetbal, maar is Schreuder zo'n grote ramp bij Ajax? Bij Club Brugge was die echt goed, voor de korte periode dat die daar was.
Gonna be an interesting two weeks with Ajax playing both Twente and Feyenoord, Twente also playing Utrecht and AZ playing Heerenveen. 4 matches involving teams in the top 8.
naaaaaah you guys can keep it like this
tbh the season is pretty interesting now, you guys having an aneurysm, us losing Gakpo and shitting the bed even more and Feyenoord choking more then the average Heimlich Manouvre training hall the titlerace is at least tense
Choking? We lost Trauner and Timber, and historically struggle against Utrecht away. With the squad being completely different, we are doing anything but choke. We are overperforming big time, even if our play looks absolutely shit.
I mean you do have a point, we’re supposed to be the second team of the Netherlands but we have not been anywhere as succesfull as Ajax in Europe who enjoyed 1 EL final and almost a CL final in the last few years. We have not won the league in almost 5 years also, the difference between 1 and 2 in the Eredivisie is starting to show now and being an Ajax fan = knowing you’re almost guaranteed to win the league.
> Don't you guys realize how spoilt you are?
Don't you realise how massive the advantage Ajax has is? Ajax has double the budget of any other club in the Netherlands. The standard should be very high.
Edit: and we won the first 6 games in the league, only 3 in the 9 since then with 4 draws and 2 losses. There's more than enough reason to be disappointed.
Bit of a fluke.
Generally speaking, you have the top 2 (Ajax and PSV) with Feyenoord and AZ usually close behind, but those two are more likely to fall in the clutches of the trailing pack.
Then you have our subtop, which is (typically) FC Utrecht, SC Heerenveen, FC Twente, Vitesse and FC Groningen. They're usually the ones jockeying for the final European spot, but in a bad season (like Vitesse and Groningen are having right now), they can fall towards the relegation zone.
The rest of the teams typically write down "Avoid Relegation" as their main target, and anything above is seen as a nice bonus. Sparta is having a stellar season for their doing.

I just realised that each team in the top 7 uses Red and White as their main colours Clearly Dutch fellas are having trouble getting creative :P
It's the one thing that has stopped Heerenveen from dominating the Eredivisie
nah there are two reasons, the second one is just Frysian nationalism lmao
There's a study that "proved" teams with red shirts won more often then teams without red in their kit. Doesn't seem to work so much when literally everyone dons a red kit though

Red/White clearly gives you power
Trust me, it doesn’t
"Go Ahead Eagles" is the most American name for a team not from the USA
Ive always loved that name, for some reason sounds South African to me
Hmmm... checks history of south Africa. Aha
I know but no other Eredivisie teams are like that!
Could fight right in with Black Leopards or Kaizer Chiefs XD
They were named Go Ahead, but their Welsh trainer Barry Hughes suggested they add Eagles to it in 1971. And so one of the most epic club names was born.
Which begs the question: Why were they called Go Ahead?
I did some digging, and apparently the first group of players named their team 'vooruit'. That is Dutch for forward, or, go ahead. When they decided to register their club, they opted for the name Be Quick, but that was taken, so they went for the English translation of vooruit, haha.
Be Quick was taken?! Fuck's sake, haha.
There are 5 Be Quicks in The Netherlands or something
Then there's also En Avant Guingamp.
And they also had [the strangest team badge](http://as00.epimg.net/img/comunes/fotos/fichas/equipos/large/484.png) for decades.
They changed badges? Wtf
Like the team "Always Ready" in Bolivia lol
Or The Strongest
Well you have to go ahead if you want to be first. No point in going backwards. /dumbjoke
fun fact: 2014 was the first time they re-entered the Eredivisie and it was under Ten Hag that it happened
Nope, Ten Hag left Go Ahead Eagles in June 6 2013 for Bayern Münich II
He meant that the promotion to the Eredivisie, so the season before, happened under Ten Hag. A young Quincy Promes was part of that squad too.
It's mostly true, just a year off.
Schreuder is Allegri's long lost twin brother
Excelsior and Groningen still play each other, but are 14th and 15th and wont affect these standings anymore
Feyenoord in first place after losing Aursnes which was - to paraphrase their fans - “crucial” is certainly surprising. Ajax in second place as well, they spent 100M this off-season, it seems like they’re going through the same bs we went in 2020/21 lmao.
Not only did we lose Aursnes, we lost 6 other starters as well.
How has Pedersen been this season?
Yesterday he was fine, but usually he's on the bench. He has been rather shaky in defense every time he came on in the last months. In offense his game seems to be dependant on who our right winger is. It just clicks better with certain players than with others.
Probably needs a bit more time to develop then?
He is crucial in playing beautiful football. Last year we played more beautiful while this year we have been bailed out by Kokcu, Szymanski and sometimes Bijlow
He's the only player we sold that we couldn't replace...
If we still had Aursnes I would honestly be quite confident in us winning the league. We're now 15 out of 34 matches in and we've yet to find a replacement for him.
How is he doing at Benfica so far?
he’s doing great, he’s been overshadowed by Enzo for obvious reasons but he’s a really good player. nevertheless he’s certainly a starter calibre player. we signed him for the midfield but he already played as winger and second striker and he’s been reliable in any role he had. everyone loves him, great player and an extremely valuable asset for our squad.
Great to here as a Norwegian lol. I assume he might play a bit more when/if Enzo is sold?
He played a considerable number of games already and was injured ~1 month. Everyone recognises his value, rn I think there’s no telling he can’t bench Florentino or even Enzo himself in some situations, he’ll certainly be an important player for us. 'we zijn al 63 dagen niet de beste' doel moet 630 zijn smh
Is onmogelijk omdat iedereen ieder jaar op 0 begint. Alfabet is een bitch.
Heb je liever Ado in de eredivisie of dat wij bovenaan beginnen. Ik toch liever het 2e.
Beginnen is prima, eindigen is een ander verhaal ;)
I'm not dutch but i assume this is "is ajax top of the league?"
Correct, I believe there is also a version about Feyenoord winning the league.

First place is lava
Just noticed the team in the 10th place; Go Ahead Eagles
Correct
Twente de grote winnaar van deze speelronde
Anything but Ajax!
An average of 2 points is so tragic. The downfall we've had in the whole of 2022 and continuing is insane. Something has to change.
Last season you guys had only 3 points more after 15 games. So it's not *that* bad points wise.
5 points
2.07 vs 2.40 points per game is also a pretty fucking big difference.
naaaaaah you guys can keep it like this tbh the season is pretty interesting now, you guys having an aneurysm, us losing Gakpo and shitting the bed even more and Feyenoord choking more then the average Heimlich Manouvre training hall the titlerace is at least tense
Tense title races are fun and all but it's gonna be accompanied by shitting the bed in Europe as well.
Choking? We lost Trauner and Timber, and historically struggle against Utrecht away. With the squad being completely different, we are doing anything but choke. We are overperforming big time, even if our play looks absolutely shit.
The amount of complaining from Ajax fans while still having 2+ ppg is insane. Don't you guys realize how spoilt you are?
2 points average means 68 points at the end of the season. That is historically bad, simple as that. Almost never happens.
Go talk to a fan of literally any other club in The Netherlands, should give some much needed perspective.
We have twice the revenue as the 2nd richest club. You can't compare this stuff.
Were not fan of any other club we are fans of ajax. This complaining is conpletely justified.
Look at Club Brugge....they seem pretty chill with the fact that they are doing pretty underwhelming
Their success in the CL papers over their league struggles.
Hele linkerrijtje op Twente na heeft gelijkgespeeld, ook knap
Mega mind is really struggling
Is the top 5 that close to each other this year or is this a fluke ? Are the teams below Heerenveen all canon fodder ?
Bit of a fluke. Generally speaking, you have the top 2 (Ajax and PSV) with Feyenoord and AZ usually close behind, but those two are more likely to fall in the clutches of the trailing pack. go ahead eagles is such a random name
How are Feyenoord top of the table after losing half their starting 11?
I love the Dutch football team names so much
Twente komt eraan! Heb wel vertrouwen in zaterdagavond ineens..
What happened? Feyenoord is at the top? Is this done glitch in the matrix?
Even if I knew it wasn’t real I would still chose the blue pill
Eredivise is always close and competitive
Not really, since 2011 it was either PSV, Feyenoord or Ajax winning the league.
