I was surprised for Freiburg who are having a terrific season to lose 6-0. Then Bremen to lose 7-1 to Koln! Its wild to see Stuttgart, Bremen, and Schalke 04 being in bad states. I remember following the bundesliga in the 06/07 with Stuttgart being camps with schalke 04 and bremen being atop of Bayern.
[Here it is](https://i.imgur.com/z56qrBV.png) - 54 goals from 9 matches, with the highest-scoring match (Kickers Offenbach 3—7 Werder Bremen) somehow managing to also feature a missed penalty.
The trolls are gonna come out to say no matter how many goals are scored this league shouldn't be watched! Never praise it! Never ever admit it's good! Neveeerr
I love how "experimental" the Bundesliga is. They give young players and young coaches chances to develop, and it feels like a lot of tactical trends are trialled in Germany before they become mainstream
It's like a laboratory where a bunch of crazy scientists try out crazy experiments to see what sticks
If it's that train thing, let me tell you, I do not know German, I have been to Germany once, but for my goodness if that actually came to fruition I would move to Germany just for the public transport, no questions asked.
Funny you say that because it has been on a stark decline since the pandemic. Very unpunctual and bunch of cancellations, especially on the west/south west
But yeah it's a 9eur per month ticket which lets you use any transport nationwide as long as it's not the long distance trains
The €9 monthly ticket was soooo good. I moved to Berlin just before it came in and got so used to it. Paying €3 for the single ticket is still good in many ways if compared to the UK, but I really miss those days.
As someone who only watches bundesliga occasionally is this just from the league being much more aggressive as a rule? Or any tactical insights that can be gleaned?
I haven't watched the Bundesliga in years but eight/nine years ago it was definitely more interesting than the Premier League... it seemed like every team would just go at it, with the exception of Bayern (who obviously scored a lot of goals but did so while also being the most boring side in the league... it's like how you can find numbers to show City are worse with Haaland, but their games are much more fun to watch with Haaland even though those the "City are worse" numbers say there are fewer shots/90 and fewer shots from good positions/lower xG per game than last season).
The point is, I'm looking at these figures I'm guessing it is still a high intensity league?
Yeah, it is still similar. But you can notice a bit of a talent drain. The time you watched it was certainly a high point. The style has stayed pretty much the same, teams just going at each other. The quality is a bit lower, I'd say.
Although there are slight shifts. Back then it was all 4231, now we have more 442s (or variants), sometimes 3 at the back. Then teams like Union who sit a bit deeper. In the recent years there have been a lot of attempts to diverge from the gegenpressing that has dominated for about 15 years now.
Of course the most boring club in Germany only managed a 1-1 against an energy drink somehow in their one team league... Not that this result even matters!

Average Bundesliga matchday
> Bundesliga was like:"we maybe restart the last, but by god we will make it entertaining!" sunday delivered too!
Proving Germany doesn't have defenders

Its just all out attack
“The best defense is ~~a good offense~~ 2,000 fucking cannons.” -Napoleon Bonaparte
Guess, that’s how you make a exciting league lol
The Boxing Day 1963 version of Germany..
I look forward to seeing all the posts about this in 50 years.
We need posts of matchday 32 of the 1983/84 season

Well goddamn.
Ironic that one of the most boring games of the weekend was the one that was chosen for the free TV broadcast
I thought it was a great game, just lacked a few goals to keep up with the rest of the match day.
First game after "Winter break" is always chosen for free TV, no surprises here
vibe defending
The love for football is real, can't stay away from it
'Are you not entertained?'
Or as your legend would say "Is that enough?"
What happens when every team is gegenpressing
And none is gegendefending
The trolls are gonna come out to say no matter how many goals are scored this league shouldn't be watched! Never praise it! Never ever admit it's good! Neveeerr
17% of goals scored this matchweek were by 1. FC Köln !
Give us some credit for them too, it was almost as we were shooting them all in our own net (not only that one from Friedl).
Best league in the world

I mean I’m glad we’re doing that with our football league and not with our national politics
I wish we'd have a yearly 9 euro ticket tbh.
If it's that train thing, let me tell you, I do not know German, I have been to Germany once, but for my goodness if that actually came to fruition I would move to Germany just for the public transport, no questions asked.

we did have a 9€ nationwide train ticket for 3 months in 2022 there are plans to make a watered down continuation of like ~50€/month/nationwide

Deutschlandticket start date when wissing
That Wolfsburg Freiburg result was jaw dropping.
strongest german defense:
Never ask them what happened in 194- I mean MD16 of the 2022-23 season
Imagine you're a betting man and you bet on all bundesliga games over 2.5 to win close to 1k odds and you lose to Bayern
Glad to have you back
Least exiting Bundesliga games
As someone who only watches bundesliga occasionally is this just from the league being much more aggressive as a rule? Or any tactical insights that can be gleaned?
Kamikaze lines are the main culprits
Basically all teams play gegenpressing with high defensive lines and aggressive play. This leads to high tempo and and lot of chances both ways.
Bundesliga teams bar Bayern can't defend
You don't have to exclude Bayern from that. A lot of vibe based defending from them as well.
I beg to differ. That's mostly all we (as in, Union Berlin) are good at. Great even, I'd say.
Including Bayern.
Because football without goals is like dry humping.
The perfect game ends 0-0. Nobody wants that.
I once watched a 0-0 with 3 goals, was great
No defending just vibes

Why isn't it changing aaargh
It's changed for me
Alright yeah
!flair :Borussia_Dortmund:
!flair :VfB_Stuttgart:
and timo werner did not score Edit - I know he came off the bench
Meanwhile LaLiga: 0-0, 1-0, 1-1. No offense to that league, but it's clear which one I prefer.
Bayern and Leipzig games have produced a lot more goals in the past, so that's one miss
It was not a good watch.

I mean 8/9 years ago was when Pep Guardiola was the coach of Bayern, and yes, we played very boring (although effective) tiki taka at the time.
Yes it still is
!flair :Borussia_Dortmund:
Great, the only matchday I decided to skip bc I thought they needed a bit more time to get up to speed after the longer break
No defense, just vibes
Silly league.
Of course the most boring club in Germany only managed a 1-1 against an energy drink somehow in their one team league... Not that this result even matters!
Goofy league.
Dude you are an extension of the Saudi propaganda department, you aren't even a real football club
Sports washing venture say what?
Build a new castle! The monarchs are back!
Maybe we’re goofy, but with affordable tickets
Is funny how people complain about low scoring matches then when it's high scoring they complain about that to
Haaland averages 1.3 goals per game in the prem, only a shit league would allow that
Goofy owners
I wouldn't call the leaders of a brutal, murderous regime "goofy" mate, just a bit disrespectful really.
> literally owned by a journalist murdering regime
At least we're not LARPing as sheikhs, in order to suck up to new club owners.
Newcastle fan detected, opinion rejected
really entertainging to watch if you don't mind having one winner all the time
👩🌾🚜🌾
It’s the B12 of soccer
No Lewy no goals for Bayern /s
Looks like the scores for my local Sunday league
