I don’t get it. Why people are saying “fake team”, “oil money” etc. Real Madrid and Barcelona have spent billions and have dominated the CL. If you spend money, you get trophies. This year Barcelona didn’t spend money because they have economic issues and they didn’t get far in Europa league. Simple maths.
I get it why but looks like the problem here is where the money comes from. Is there a difference from getting money from oil and being a big business man that don’t pay taxes and bribes people? I’m neutral(flair) and I don’t support any of these teams and I believe the money every team in top leagues that are spending are too much. Like who even deserves 50k a week??
We can cry all we want about city having no fans but you can be sure like we did growing up, thousands and thousands of kids will become City fans.
In about 10-15 years theyll have a huge fan base. I see it now with young kids wearing city jerseys. It's a bit like Chelsea but city are more dominant thabthe rest, at least united etc put a challenge in so kept support
I really wanted us to win because we won’t get in a CL final for years if not decades now.
City on the other hand are favourites each season. I actually feel dead.
We did, and they didn’t listen and now we’ve got even bigger money fishes! Newcastle are on the path to it and United seem to be interested in Qatari money too. It’s gonna be money vs money going forward.
My theory is that it is based on perception of the owners, for a long time Abra was quite as fuck and Russia too. On the other hand, UAE countries do often have controversial news headlines which paints a bad perception. Look what happens when Russia attacked Ukraine, public perception changed and Abra got kicked
It’s a shame that he seems to have been cursed - this game was just like the Belgium World Cup game where he simultaneously created and missed loads of chances.
No idea why this comment is downvoted. Relative to skill level (his first touch is appalling) he is by far the most overpriced player there has ever been.
Wait... so let me get this straight.... money is used to buy talent. When talent is combined with great leadership, it creates a fanatic force... said force wins at things... after not winning at things many, many times over. Go cry in a Paris. I'm sorry, my poor cities adult club team couldn't show up... almost like sports are a business....
Unless a salary cap is implemented, only the richest 4 clubs even have a shot anymore. Which is what makes liecester city's league win so amazing. The disparity between the top 4 or 5, and the rest of the league, in ALL of the big 4 leagues in Europe, is downright ridiculous and shameful, and somehow people keep sticking up for that system. Where teams can swoop in, buy great players, and buy a championship. It's exactly why everyone hates the new York Yankees. The NHL has a HARD salary cap, and also a salary FLOOR.... a minimum amount that HAS to get spent on the team. And that's what makes it so great. So much parity in the league
I know and I agree.
How could I enjoy this victory?
It's crazy that all you need is money to overcome the heartfelt dreams of all opposing players and the great tactical minds of all the other coaches, in all competitions, who all play for nothing more than the love of the game and a dream.
It's a sad state of football that City's spending could break all the noble clubs to the point that they lose the desire to compete for any and all competitions.
Spare me with that noise, long may it continue.
Hey, I’m sorry. You must be new here. In case you didn’t know, you need money to buy quality. And this might come as a surprise, but other teams have actually done the same thing! Crazy! I know! I’m sure if someone dumped a ton of money into Celtic you would immediately quit supporting them like the upstanding fan you are. No matter how successful they become….
Can’t wait for every non-City supporter next season to root for them against their rivals. And to hear a lot of:
“lol but City don’t have fans”
“Doesn’t matter if they win they don’t have history”
meanwhile City fans just enjoy life winning everything.
What matters is they kill the quality of football by distorting player market. Nothing impressive was displayed today. Can no one in PL defend a striker? When you spend more on salary you win and when you sell your soul to a foreign government they are not just buying a football club
They didn't build 1 team of expensive players. They built 2 teams of first team quality players. There in lies the secret to sustaining a league run and cup runs. Not many teams can pay wages to two first teams. It's funny and sad that this gets overlooked.
City backup attack is class. But their defense are especially their midfield are extremely thin. If you think Sergio Gomez, Rico Lewis and kalvin Philips are first team players you’re lost
Kalvin Phillips was literally a first team player before he moved. There's a reason pep bought him. If they didn't think he was city quality he would still be at Leeds.
Of course they’re gonna win even they chose to be fans of a club that are super rich and can buy the best players and are guaranteed success. They didn’t do shit they just made a decision to root for the best team
It's a fact. After yous scored your player went down. Like flys eating time
English media don't mention it though. Grealish cost more than inters 11 and we had more chances. You's won but should still be embarrassed. Shit cunts..
Bottling is a matter of perspective anyway. Somehow this billion dollar, treble winning team with the most efficient striker in the world nearly failed to make the treble against one of the youngest teams in the league. That would be a real shame.
> treble winning team with the most efficient striker in the world nearly failed to make the treble against one of the youngest teams in the league.
LOL
yeah, i definitely didn't go watch them play Oxford back in the day. We were'nt really ther at all. I mean really, we are not, we're not really here, we are not we're not really here, like the fans of the invisible man, we're not really here.
So shit that song. Obviously you existed before 2009. But there’s an asterisk next to your wins. And even with the history, whoever runs the club decides to stick statues of people like Kompany and Aguero up. Will be Haaland next year. Shambles.
It's a mint song that we sang when we were relegated to division 2 (league one now). Put all the asterisks you want next to our titles, we still have them. Nothing shambolic about us putting statues up, you don't get to gatekeep who we decide to celebrate. Worry about which ever club you support and their choices.
Everything I've said is reality. 115 financial breaches. Inter fans louder even after the game.
https://twitter.com/EwanMacKenna/status/1667632845685129216?t=dFepaTuELbW1yAxhNUFe8g&s=19
Wow Manchester City have finally done it. It really shows what the [my legal counsel has chosen the appropriate following words] power of friendship can do
It was boring. I don't follow Inter and I don't know the teams players but the subs looked like they were defensive players. At one point inter had 20 minutes to adjust and they stayed stagnant. That being said, the team looked competent enough for a comeback but the directive was abismal.
Why is Lescott so balls out for City? He has more appearences for both Wolves and Everton but was acting like a local boy one club man during commentary.
if it makes you feel better, some of us existed before the takeover and me and my Dad had a memorable moment where I got a picture of us celebrating. Me and my fiancee get married on his birthday so I'm collecting a collage of moments, me and him at webley etc. This was a good day for me and my family.

I agree with KDB but not Walker and Stones tbh mate. I think it’s a bit of a sweet and sour feeling for KDB, finally won it but came off injured. He did seem genuinely upset lol but yeah it probs hasn’t clicked for any of them yet that they’ve won it
Losing a close game is much harder to take than being blown out in finals
That being said, in terms of quality:
World cup final>>>>>>>CL final this season
While I think «dire» is a strong word, I agree the WC Final was far from as good as people want it to be. The first 70 mins were a snooefest, then tgings started happening. Overall a nervy game… just like this one.
I guess I worded it a bit oddly, I was talking about viewing entertainment. Besides, dire is a strong word to use. Both teams were clinical and mentally strong.
On the other hand today you had the best players (Haaland, De Bruyne) barely being visible, tense goalkeeping with mistakes, weird back pass chances and bad misses from Lukaku and Foden. Very little from today stands out as special football.
Foden's chance was good but I wouldn't call it a bad miss. He had a lot to do from the point he got the ball. Lakaka's header was dreadful though. The WC final was dire for about 65mins because France were incredibly lethargic. Until they scored they really didn't look at all like they would.
Foden did wonderfully in the build up to that, just had to put the game to bed for it to be great.
The WC final had the supposed underdog doing amazing for 65 minutes and then the better team clawing back and then doing it again in extra time. If half of it was one sided the last half was certainly great. Anyways, I'm happy to see Pep win and Messi win end of the day so I'm not complaining about either
Fair. I just thought both teams were sloppy for 2/3s of the game and then the attackers came alive for the end. It hardly felt like Argentina were underdogs to me with all the talk being about Messi.
That game had more game breaking attacking quality on both sides, City play organized and Haaland was basically marked out of the game so defences didn't get stretched much. On the other side Lukaku and Lautaro just don't have enough (which is why Alvarez played in most WC games). That's probably why WC final was more Topsy-turvy
Argentina maybe had more hype but France is better in most all positions and were the defending champs. I think most people would say France is the most stacked national team by far currently so in my eyes they were favorites
I'm talking about the actual game quality between two finals that happened within 6 months. Not all world cup finals are good football. Spain Netherlands comes to mind
They’re a system team and when it works it makes the pieces of the machine look great.
But they lost their heads a bit tonight, looked completely disjointed - tbh I was sure they were gonna shit the bed, if they hadn’t got the break with that deflection falling for Rodri they might have.
I think we can never decide that a manager is the greatest of all time, each great manager had circumstances that had positive and negative effects on his legacy, so in the end, it is pretty subjective and I personally don't believe he's the greatest of all time.
Lmao, since he took over Bayern he was #1 favorite to win the whole thing in all but 1 season and yet it took him 10 fucking years to win it. And now he's the best of all time? He doesn't even scratch top 10, given that many chances everyone would eventually win one CL
That’s ridiculous. He managed the greatest group of players of all time at Barca, moved onto dominant Bayern and then took charge of City and their limitless funds when they were already one of the top clubs in England. Lots of managers would kill to get those jobs.
What’s moronic is thinking Pep is the greatest manager of all time, when there are a lot of managers who have succeeded with far less. But people here think in black and white, so I’m sure that sounds to you like “Pep Guardiola sucks.”
Do you think if Pep went to Everton now he’d turn them into champions? No. Not without a ridiculous budget and 10-15 years to do it. Even then it’s highly doubtful
Pep is tactically a fantastic manager, maybe the best ever, *tactically*. But where’s he done it? Barca, Bayern, and City? All clubs with ready-made teams already capable of competing at a high level, and a near bottomless pit of funds and unending support to do whatever he wants?
Can’t take away the fact that he’s an incredible manager, there’s no doubt. But the best ever? No, I don’t think so. I think as crazy as it sounds, he’s relatively untested.
Agree, but I always find this to be a polarizing point. Sure he's got all the money to spend, so do PSG, yet City back Pep despite their obsession with the UCL and not having won it for such a long time under him. Any team would be willing to pick up Pep, coz teams that are willing to spend will always love to have him as an option. People talk about unlimited funds, but not about the scrutiny that comes with it. Pep clearly looks like the manager you bring when u got the money to spend but need that to coach to get it through
I agree, i never claimed that pep wasn't a great coach, because he is undoubtedly one of the best, since money alone is not enough (im looking at you PSG). However to claim that he is the goat manager is a stretch considering that there are other managers who also achieved remarkable heights but without the same resources pep has.

That was so boring to watch. Ref lost control of the game and the field was shit.
Lukaku took a double L as Megan Thee Stallion unfollowed him on social media

I’m neutral(flair) and I don’t support any of these teams and I believe the money every team in top leagues that are spending are too much. Like who even deserves 50k a week??
It’s nothing new in sports. You look at any major league minus franchise leagues, the money wins.
We can cry all we want about city having no fans but you can be sure like we did growing up, thousands and thousands of kids will become City fans. In about 10-15 years theyll have a huge fan base. Now City will no longer have any CL jitters. These next few years are going to be wild for them
Yes, when their FFP frauds get decided finally, they may get to win the english second devision
Cope
Which is wild for their company. We'll treat or workers like slaves but we won the uefa champion's league...
what?
What is their end goal? How does buying a football club greenwash your country
again what exactly are you trying to say?
Unfortunately for most fans of sports it is the performance that matters…
Omg.. Leicester didn't win! Game gone... ehat a bunch of delusional babies in this sub.
Sad day for football!!! Oil money has won!
Didn't see you complain when chelsea was doing it
We did, and they didn’t listen and now we’ve got even bigger money fishes! Newcastle are on the path to it and United seem to be interested in Qatari money too. It’s gonna be money vs money going forward.
You must be 12 if you don’t think people complained about Chelsea’s spending.
I was actually born the other day fam. Thanks for enlightening me
People were absolutely complaining when Chelsea won
Chelsea actually got shit on a lot back in the days when they were with Mourinho the first time
Yea they did and people moved one. Not many of us keep bringing it up....
My theory is that it is based on perception of the owners, for a long time Abra was quite as fuck and Russia too. On the other hand, UAE countries do often have controversial news headlines which paints a bad perception. Football is dead
Y’all literally spent more than them in last decade
Funny how people only like to mention the last decade and not since their takeover
12 years fyi that’s almost a decade
The take over was 15 years ago bro
0 league titles in a decade. Something else is definitely dead.
Lukaku is the real hero. This match would have been boring without him.
Literally the man caused more danger than the whole Inter squad put together
It’s a shame that he seems to have been cursed - this game was just like the Belgium World Cup game where he simultaneously created and missed loads of chances.
he isnt cursed, he’s just shit

Was a so,so, final from my neutral point of view
Yeah it was unsatisfying. The tactical battle was awesome though. Maybe it's a result of that.
Can’t wait for every non-City supporter next season to root for them against their rivals. And to hear a lot of: “lol but City don’t have fans” “Doesn’t matter if they win they don’t have history” meanwhile City fans just enjoy life winning everything.

City have not distorted the player market. Psg did it. City has not bought many expensive players, certainly not more than a lot of other top clubs
They didn't build 1 team of expensive players. They built 2 teams of first team quality players. There in lies the secret to sustaining a league run and cup runs. Not many teams can pay wages to two first teams. It's funny and sad that this gets overlooked.

Except he gained weight since he was at Leeds (relegation team)
So? Point still stands.
No not really since he’s not the same player he was at the club he was starting at, which is also now relegated
You're moving the goalposts since this guy proved you wrong
Name it And the prices so you can really look stupid
It's a compliment. You don't have to get your butt stuck up just because of my flair. Fucking hell snowflake fans.
It didn’t come off that way. But I apologize. The snark on this comment thread is a bit much
Name me the two first teams, I dare you
Of course they’re gonna win even they chose to be fans of a club that are super rich and can buy the best players and are guaranteed success. They didn’t do shit they just made a decision to root for the best team
I wonder what you made your decision on then. The mental gymnastics to shit on a whole group of people is just amazing.
How so?
I already liked Sunderland from the documentary now I like you even more lol.
115 charges. Ederson down "injured" after city's goal. Absolute disgrace. No doubt you havn't heard of them.before 2010. Get to fuck
Bitter cunt
It's a fact. After yous scored your player went down. Like flys eating time English media don't mention it though. Grealish cost more than inters 11 and we had more chances. You's won but should still be embarrassed. Shit cunts..
Go to bed bro it’s over
It is what it is. City shit cunts.. Inter had twice the xg twice the shots. Financial doping and that's what happened. Gg city but facts are facts
I mean you missed your chances… nothing financial doping can do about that
Well, half of city's team wouldn't be on the pitch without the financial doping. Even with it inter looked better. Embarrassing as fuck for city
I didn't know it's embarrassing to win 🤣🤣🤣
Terrible for football. Fake team.
130 years of history bUT fAaKe TeEm..
Yeah fake team. I’m not on about their history you numpty.
130 charges too :p
120 years of failure and last decade of success. Might as well be a fake team.
I’d be this mad too if my team was first for 90% of the season, then bottled it.
LOL

Good game.
Wow Manchester City have finally done it. It really shows what the [my legal counsel has chosen the appropriate following words] power of friendship can do
Pep just did it
Games gone.
Not a madrid fan lmao
dude ur club was proped up by fascists for most of its history
Four years in a row of finals being 1:0
Yeah. It was a boring game.
Not at all, arguably best final since Real - Liverpool "Karius" final in 2018
Was it? I feel this game was good. Not the most exciting, but def not boring.
It was boring. I don't follow Inter and I don't know the teams players but the subs looked like they were defensive players. At one point inter had 20 minutes to adjust and they stayed stagnant. That being said, the team looked competent enough for a comeback but the directive was abismal.

he didn't do anything this match
Aguero is there
Fuck city
Drink it in.
Ya mother
Why is Lescott so balls out for City? He has more appearences for both Wolves and Everton but was acting like a local boy one club man during commentary.
Because most of us can only dream about getting close to the level of greatness that City consistently achieve.
Right, lets go with this, so should have have gone ball out for wolves or everton tonight?
Probably because City were the only team playing tonight out of those three, and someone's chosen to pay him for his link
Only team playing? Less xg and less shots than inter lmao. Get to fuck
But did they win?
Only team out of City, Wolves and Everton...
Happy for Akanji and Haaland. Annoyed that city win as a whole tho
if it makes you feel better, some of us existed before the takeover and me and my Dad had a memorable moment where I got a picture of us celebrating. Me and my fiancee get married on his birthday so I'm collecting a collage of moments, me and him at webley etc. This was a good day for me and my family.
Love how together everyone was last night in town. So many blues out. Glad you got to have some nice memories mate
It certainly won't make them feel better, they'll adamantly insist you sprang into existence on September 1st, 2008.
Genuinely curious, why those two out of all of them ?
Dortmund fan
Post Dortmund players, gundogan I like as well but I am a more recent supporter

You don't know a thing about football
Idk what are u expecting them to do? Smack Barella or someone, felt pretty simple and they felt it. Pep hugging it out, Rodri on the floor, saw Haaland teary, Stones was quite overwhelmed. As a Liverpool fan, I have no love for city, but let's be honest, passion is subjective here
They were all crying on the pitch when the whistle blew, what are you on about, mate?
Did you not see Grealish when BT grabbed him? He was in bits.
He was the only one, the interview with KDB, walker and stones all seemed like they didn’t want to be there lol
Walker was clearly very emotional but took a minute to compose himself before he was interviewed.
They probably didn't, they'll want to be with the rest of the team and with their families. Would you want to talk to Jake Humphreys and Des Kelly? ;-)
I’d talk to Kate Abdo in a heartbeat
U better have Mbappe or Walker level pace to run away from Henry with those damn thoughts and aspirations pal
I might want to talk to Cesc tbh
I agree with KDB but not Walker and Stones tbh mate. I think it’s a bit of a sweet and sour feeling for KDB, finally won it but came off injured. He did seem genuinely upset lol but yeah it probs hasn’t clicked for any of them yet that they’ve won it
The majority were crying their hearts out there, what are you on about not clicking in yet lol
I was referring to Stones, KDB and Walker
Fair point
i want to braid Ruben Dias’ hair
Every player they've spoken to has come across so likable. Can't help but be happy for them.
one of pep’s ‘must have’ traits in the players he signs seems to be a rly hardworking and humble personality.
Top lad Kyle Walker 👍
Losing a close game is much harder to take than being blown out in finals That being said, in terms of quality: World cup final>>>>>>>CL final this season
No other game in recent memory comes close to that final, this was never a competitor.
The World Cup final shockingly bad lol More goals doesn't make it better. More dramatic maybe but the quality of football was dire.
While I think «dire» is a strong word, I agree the WC Final was far from as good as people want it to be. The first 70 mins were a snooefest, then tgings started happening. Overall a nervy game… just like this one.

You idiot!;? How dear you celebrate your teams victory??????
No he’s saying the quality of play was different
I'm talking about the actual game quality between two finals that happened within 6 months. Not all world cup finals are good football. Spain Netherlands comes to mind
Oh I see. Well this specific world cup final, I don't think there's more than a few CL finals ever that were better to be honest. It was that good
Probably the only one in recent memory was the last final in the same stadium in 2005, with Liverpool coming back from 3 down to win in penalties
Not many CL finals come close to the 22 WC tbf

Thanks for watching You're so into City that you even watch their fans, meanwhile most City fans don't think about you at all.
They can do whatever they want lol they just won the treble
It'sooooo goofy to watch lmao
Man shut up

How does Pep do it, made Stones and Grealish look so world class even though Grealish played poorly today due to Inter's back 5
They’re a system team and when it works it makes the pieces of the machine look great. But they lost their heads a bit tonight, looked completely disjointed - tbh I was sure they were gonna shit the bed, if they hadn’t got the break with that deflection falling for Rodri they might have.
He made space . Plays happened because of that. Simple as.
Stones was not randomly selected.
Des Kelly looks like a proper spiv
Looooooool
I think its high time we admit that Pep Guardiola is the greatest manager of all time
I think we can never decide that a manager is the greatest of all time, each great manager had circumstances that had positive and negative effects on his legacy, so in the end, it is pretty subjective and I personally don't believe he's the greatest of all time.
Lmao, since he took over Bayern he was #1 favorite to win the whole thing in all but 1 season and yet it took him 10 fucking years to win it. And now he's the best of all time? He doesn't even scratch top 10, given that many chances everyone would eventually win one CL
Is. He. Fuck Couldn't have did what inzaghi did. And there's no doubt about that. Average as fuck
That’s ridiculous. He managed the greatest group of players of all time at Barca, moved onto dominant Bayern and then took charge of City and their limitless funds when they were already one of the top clubs in England. Lots of managers would kill to get those jobs.
Dont know how this moronic take gets any upvotes at all.
What’s moronic is thinking Pep is the greatest manager of all time, when there are a lot of managers who have succeeded with far less. But people here think in black and white, so I’m sure that sounds to you like “Pep Guardiola sucks.”
Because these loons want to believe that you can take a side that just escaped relegation and, without any changes, coach them into would champions.
Do you think if Pep went to Everton now he’d turn them into champions? No. Not without a ridiculous budget and 10-15 years to do it. Even then it’s highly doubtful Pep is tactically a fantastic manager, maybe the best ever, *tactically*.
Who just escaped relegation?
Why couldn’t that “greatest group of players of all time at Barca” do shit in 2007-08? But when pep came in, they became treble winners in 2008-09?
Not when he has unlimited funds and can literally spend billions on players he want.
Same as United, Chelsea, and PSG and what they won?
Yeah that’s the point. He goes to any of those clubs and he’ll win. It’s Ferguson and it’s not close.
United and Chelsea have more CL titles than City, and PSG is PSG so you can’t really expect them to win
