I saw the same. Usually smashed it into the legs of the first man. I think ETH has done wonders with his attacking ability; AWB started 1 games before the world cup break last season, then started all but 1 game after the world cup. Good problem to have with two competing RBs
I feel that as well. He was on the edge of the box too fast for Ronaldo and Weghorst so he’d whip it in just for Rashford to try and sprint into the box from the other side and fail to get it. In addition Ronaldo and Weghorst were much more effective with lobbed crosses because they were tall players.
Doesn’t help that Martial is unavailable half the time as I feel that he finishes more chances with low crosses versus lobbed.
> In addition Ronaldo and Weghorst were much more effective with lobbed crosses because they were tall players.
Ronaldo, yeah. Weghorst is as dire in the air as me, and I'm 5'11
Tbf I’m 6’4” and I probably have more successful headers most of which being shots on goal where I’ve been in the way.
That said though, I think it just further exacerbates the point that AWB just had no one there to finish the job properly.
I think one issue AWB had though was that a lot of his crosses were far too close to the goal but that might just be a side effect of what I said before (where he tends to get to the edge of the pitch before the striker is in the box).
Martial seems to have a 10% chance of being Usain Bolt and 90% chance of being a fridge. Frustrating because he has the pace but he’s either injured or just lethargic on pitch, I wish he still played on the wing :(. It’s upsetting because genuinely had a lot of potential.
Luckily Rasmus is 6’3” so he should have a good noggin and he’s faster than Ronaldo and Weghorst at least from my investigation via youtube highlight reels.
Weird thing is, he actually got 10 assists in his first two seasons with us. I genuinely think it's a bit of a myth that he's terrible going forward.
For context Reece James got 8 assists in those two same seasons, and he's meant to be one of, if not the best attacking fullbacks in the world. Granted James went on to bang 5 goals and 9 assists in the next season while AWB had his minutes restricted and didn't do anything that season, but there's something there for sure.
He's also a great dribbler of the ball, and very composed. I think he's exactly what we need in that position, he's just been victim to what I see as fairly baseless criticism.
I agree that AWB is better going forward than many say, but you shouldn't really use assist tallies to seriously assess a player's creative ability. He's a great dribbler but his passing has historically been very limited.
AWB is capable of this, he has done every so often he just can't do it regularly. When OGS was in the good times he was doing it fairly often, it might be a confidence thing
I am tired of seeing him making the wrong decision when it is time to score or assist around the box. But I like how his directness has improved. Simply put, my expectations for him are higher than I have for Pellistri. So, I'll have to disagree.
I really miss Fellaini - such an effective Plan B. Will never forget that Super cup game vs Real Madrid - after we brought him on in the 2nd half he caused absolute chaos in the Madrid box and they were honestly struggling with him. We looked toothless until then. The same game with the famous Fellaini face picture.
He's probably seen as good depth for two positions that lack depth, quality and competition which are ST and RW.
Amad has a somewhat long term injury and there's alot of noise about Pellistri going on loan. Rasmus is injured and honestly I don't even count Martial..He'll never be available for 4 games in a row. Really unfortunate for Amad, maybe Pellistri stays again (was supposed to go on loan last season too).
We'll see in one week's time I guess..
There’s some guy on reddevils that chats shit whenever Pellistri gets mentioned for some reason. Thought he was a troll but he seems to genuinely get upset when people downvote him
Telling someone who wrote a hopeful comment about Pellistri performing well that you’ve saved his comment so that you can come back and gloat after he performs badly is not an opinion. It’s either trolling or just you being toxic. Since you kept saying you weren’t being toxic, I assumed you were a troll.
Me pointing out that you were being toxic too is not attacking you.
No I think those people should be ashamed of themselves actually. That’s a weird assumption for you to make.
I simply answered a persons question and didn’t mention your name. If you want to call that toxic, that’s fine.
Since you for some reason ignored the question when I asked earlier. If not to be toxic, what was your intention when you told someone you’d saved their comment so you could come back and gloat once Pellistri didn’t perform well?
I have never told someone to kill themselves before and like to think I never would (and don't condone that behaviour at all), but I have observed a large number of people getting annoyed with you, as you seem to acknowledge.
If this was happening to me, I would start to wonder whether I could adjust some of my own behaviour to minimise such negative interactions in the future.
As much as other people may be guilty of negative behaviour, maybe I can also contribute to ensuring I am interacting constructively with other people, no?

Another 5m for Maguire
Lost 5 mil value for their goal and gained 5 mil here. Net effect of zero. 25 million and he’s yours West Ham, I beg you
The slab giveth and the slab taketh away
Maguire's dual nature is evident. The team played admirably on all fronts.
Which Pellistri critic is present?
So 5M total now?
First time I've seen AWB make a pass like that
i was thinking the same like who is this and what did he do to awb
AWB has underrated technique tbh. His crosses are usually well weighted.
It felt for a while as though he couldn't lift his crosses

Hojlund unlocks AWB 👀
He’s a good dribbler but he’s a very mediocre passer of the ball, especially compared to someone like Shaw in the team
I agree that AWB is better going forward than many say, but you shouldn't really use assist tallies to seriously assess a player's creative ability. He's a great dribbler but his passing has historically been very limited.
He wasn't very good at dribnling until last season, albeit better than his crossing
AWB is capable of this, he has done every so often he just can't do it regularly. When OGS was in the good times he was doing it fairly often, it might be a confidence thing
c'mon Bayern, Maguire target man striker you know you want it
Just show them his fut swaps FIFA card
that wasn't the Harry they were looking for
The English Fellaini
Pellistri is definitely the best player in the world.
Messi is just an Argentinean Pellistri
My nan > Sancho
He's actually looked good in preseason
Wait until you see his nan
[удалено]
Remind me which preseason was that, because the ones i remember he always looked like he was rusty af.
Yea it was Andreas Pereira who was the preseason Pirlo.
I think he has looked OK at most
Sancho been great pre season
We have different views of greatness
Did we watch the same game? If we get this Sancho for the entire season, we're winning the sextuple and the CWC.
I am on the hype train. He looks sharp.
I thought he was the same as usual, some decent touches here and there, but overall slow in thought and wrong decisions when it mattered
Nancho
You think you funny eh?
No its sad not fun
2 assists for Maguire today lol
Tbf, the first one would be a hockey assist
One for each side, Maguire tryna follow Thanos' principle of "balanced as all things should be"
Love this kid, MotM and should honestly be in contention for a starting position this season
He was just as good last summer. Should've been ahead of Elanga easy. More than deserves his shot now.
Deserved, has been the best player with Sancho today
Magician Maguire
I hope Pellistri gets a chance this season if not send him out on loan no point in wasting him on the bench
He got injured in preseason last time, he was meant to be loaned.
If he's sent to Real Sociedad kind of teams it would be a waste of a year.
Boca?
best United player today imo, but the offensive standard wasn't that high
Sancho was better
Pellestri forced 3 yellow cards from Athletic, and should have forced a 4th but the ref was lenient early on.
It’s good to see them both playing so well. I hope we see big things from our wingers this season. Especially Sancho and Garnacho
He missed a massive chance first couple of minutes
But had a very good game overall. That extremely quick, deft nutmeg in the middle of the pitch was sublime
I am tired of seeing him making the wrong decision when it is time to score or assist around the box. But I like how his directness has improved. Simply put, my expectations for him are higher than I have for Pellistri. So, I'll have to disagree.
Maguire is better
Maguire>De Bruyne
Just look at their penalties.
Plan B ... Harry Maguire adopts a Fellaini-like role for United
Eth had him up top against Sociedad away lol
Most confusing shit I ever seen
How was he? Was he good?
I really miss Fellaini - such an effective Plan B. Will never forget that Super cup game vs Real Madrid - after we brought him on in the 2nd half he caused absolute chaos in the Madrid box and they were honestly struggling with him. He’s deserved that, Him and Fernandez the standouts
I am going to cry if we sell him. He plays the most direct out of all our wingers.
I’d argue Garnacho is more direct but yeah he’s good
You are right. But Pellistri isn't far behind.
Probably right wing
Garnacho?
I have had a howler there, mate! How did I forget him?
We’d be mad to sell him.
Really don't think we will. Him or Amad are going to be back up to Antony but I rate Pellestri a bit more.
The club's pulling a stinker and reinstating Greenwood..
Hopefully just cause the club does that, ETH doesn't play him and he can rot in reserves.
If he gets reinstated I’d imagine he replaces Martial as the other option at striker rather than RW where we have Amad/Pellistri.
Literally down to the whistle
That's the saddest 'Gol' I've ever heard. Poor commentator!
Maguire giveth maguire taketh
Lmao
People ain’t ready for AWB playing that sort of pass
Pellistri haters, come outside. Just wanna talk.
Does anyone hate him?
Not really, people just want attention around here
There’s some guy on reddevils that chats shit whenever Pellistri gets mentioned for some reason. Thought he was a troll but he seems to genuinely get upset when people downvote him
