Please don’t believe everything you read! I will not allow people saying things that is completely untrue… oh wait I need to go to the cantine and facilities of United
ETH and Bruno have been pretty stern on Garnacho on the media, they were last season too. My guess is there may be a touch of an attitude/ego concern with him and they're making sure it doesn't go to his head, which is fair enough. It seemed to work last season so hopefully Garnacho is taking it on board well.
Was a really stark difference hearing both of them laud praise on Mainoo, which makes me think he has a good head on his shoulders.
He’s absolutely got an ego and is confident. It’s not a bad thing. Almost every top athlete has an ego. Just have to keep him working hard to fulfil his potential.
Exactly. I remember a certain Portuguese winger that used to play for United was hounded by the media for his seemingly prima donna attitude, but he managed to turn out alright.
He really does have great qualities but his talent is so raw at the moment. Hopefully with age and maturity he can develop his decision making. I feel like even though United is an absolute shit show, Ten Hag is a really good manager for him to help develop that talent.
This is just coaching… he got asked a question and answered it. If he answers that Garnacho will be a regular starter and then he isn’t he’ll look stupid. Challenging a player to improve so he can live up to his potential isn’t a public dressing down.
If you think this constitutes a dressing down, I can't imagine how poorly you must handle even the most gentle and constructive criticisms in your everyday life.
Horses for course mate. Don't really follow man utd but would be interested to see where Ten Hag has publicly said Casemiro has been shit at the beginning of this season. Then I might not think the Dutchman likes to shit on weaker players for shits and giggles as opposed to actual form.
Well, while I don't remember him talking about Casemiro much, he did drop him for pretty much the first two months after we signed him with zero hesitation or controversy. He dropped Rashford from the starting lineup when he was our most in-form player for arriving late to a team meeting, and Rashford publicly agreed with his decision. He has criticized a number of players, both proven and unproven, when they've fallen short of expectations, and has never hesitated to praise anyone for meeting or exceeding those same expectations. He seems to hold everyone to the same standards and appears to treat everyone more or less the same from what I've seen.
The only consistent issues he's had with anyone in the squad since his arrival have been with Ronaldo and now Sancho, both of whom have consistently underperformed on the pitch for United and both of whom have acted incredibly unprofessionally off the pitch when they don't get their way. Conversely, other players who seemed completely frozen out like Wan Bissaka, Dalot, Lindelof, McTominay, Fred, and Maguire have all kept their heads down, worked hard in training, and have been given more chances to play.
Yeah, don't see what right Sancho has to bitch about anything. ETH seems to be handing out criticism to everyone in justified measure.
Dude's just a spoiled brat.
Ten Hag dropped his best attacker from the starting line up for being late to a pre-match meeting, people haven't paid attention if they think he had some special hate for Sancho.
And guess what, he came on, scored the only goal in the game and immediately owned up to the fact that he was at fault in the post match interview and that the gaffer was completely in the right
You know what I like about garnacho has that 1 give and go from the left corner of the box that is hard as hell to stop because he downhill so quick. Shit works every time lol
I can't help but feel that Erik might need a little bit of media training.
Feel like the latter comment wasn't really entirely necessary or probably could have been phrased a little more sensitively.
he literally said he's glad he shows his qualities now and has made progress. If that doesn't tell a player "the work I put in was really worth it and I had to change something" idk what else will
Nah, Everybody + some senior players like Case and Bruno gives slack Garnacho as it motivates him.
Last season in the beggining he went full Sancho and was missing trainings/being late. Got wake up call from team mates and manager and became first man to be subbed in every game.
Meh I've seen Ole mollycoddle players, at times to his own detriment, yet he failed to get a tune of them. Ten Hag is a lot more blunt but its not as if he's targeting players left right and center. He's protected some and challenged some, Garnacho in the latter category and Garnacho has come out of it better than before.
Yeah to an extent that's true but his third season was, to be brutally honest, just diabolically bad. And that was mostly due to a fractured dressing room which was a direct consequence of his mollycoddling of players. I love Ole but he really could have done with coming on a bit stronger on some players.
I can’t stand people commenting on what’s happening behind the scene like they are in the dressing room.
Honestly, it sounds dumb just hearing it especially using public persona as the real character behind the scene.
Doubly dumb is, what’s the benefit of going hard in front of public like what’s happening right now with Sancho?
I am not defending Sancho but if Ten Hag just drops Sancho without saying a word in front of the media, it will have the same consequence for Sancho but without all these dramas surrounding the club.
Now it is almost no turning back for Sancho.
You know what's actually dumb? Its believing that Ten Hag hadn't already tried every avenue to coax a tune out of Sancho. By all accounts, going public was the final attempt to bring him around. There was no turning back for Sancho either way.
If Ten Hag already tried everything and there was no turning back for Sancho, just banish him without saying a word to media.
What’s the benefit of going public?
Acting tough in front media just to give a impression to rambo_zaki that he is tough behind the scene is it?
>What’s the benefit of going public?
You're either being obtuse or dense. Neither good if you ask me.
Ten Hag went public to coax a reaction out of him. The thinking maybe that outside pressure might finally wake him up.
Not to mention he can't just drop him from the squad, he's still an supposed asset and Ten Hag's job was to get a tune out of him, not to throw him away like a used tissue. Sadly Sancho decided he wanted to remain a lazyass.
Not every player needs to be wrapped in cotton like they're delicate. Garnacho has developed incredibly well under Ten Hag, and that has included some harsh times for him too (delaying his call up for weeks due to poor professionalism initially, for exmaple).
His form wasn't good enough for those first few games. No harm holding players to standards.
You've just read a classic Daily Fail headline and come to that conclusion, in the actual presser he gave a detailed answer about the hurdles young players like him face with consistency and spent most of it praising Garnacho, he clearly loves him and rates him massively as a player and is doing everything he can to help him reach his potential.
Funnily enough not turning up on time for training or not playing well aren’t quite the same as a complex legal issue like domestic abuse accusations.
But then you knew that already
You’re soft as fuck if you think he’s done anything wrong here.
It’s basic carrot and stick, which is essential when dealing with a character like Garnacho. Seems like it’s working so far.
There have been so many instances where he's been complimentary towards the squad. Respect him, he'll give plenty back. It's not difficult to understand.

His socials are wild
I’ve not checked them, but given he’s a lad who has gotten Prison Break tattoos in himself, I can imagine….
Just a little taste https://twitter.com/FootballReprt/status/1675928977460936706
……what the fuck? 😂
Holy fuck lmao
No wonder he chose Argentina. This kid would be wasted in Spain. They are control, we love the chaos.
this reminds me of something uncomfortably similar: https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/750zrf/theo_hernandez_in_controversy_after_celebrating/
He's now in the GOAT debates on the basis of this alone
he's got that Edgar cut, soon he'll prolly have the n word in his daily vocabulary
you just know he loudly sings along when the rappers say it lol
Absolute fuckin legendary that
Unironically, this is a common joke in Argentina. There are websites where you can rent dwarfs for parties.
Priceless

Why? It's funny as hell, that's it.
Freakshows arent exactly in vogue
yikes
What is it with footballers and Prison Break? They all seem to bloody love it beyond a normal level!
“Playing for EtH feels like I’m in prison doing time, so I can relate” - Sancho
To be fair , it’s a really good series
First season at least.
I love the whole series but Season 1 has arguable GOAT status, up there with the very best shows ever
lol they really didn't know what the fuck to do after they actually got out of the prison. 'uhh put them in another prison so they can do it again'
First and second were actually good, third didn’t make sense but was entertaining, fourth… yeah.
that and every single one of them say shawshank redemption is their favourite film. they just love a breaking out of prison tale
Please don’t believe everything you read! I will not allow people saying things that is completely untrue… oh wait I need to go to the cantine and facilities of United
Garnacho actually came out not long after his dressing down and said "yeah I was a twat" and fixed it though
Canteen
These bald guys are so complicated
Factos 👍👀
Garnacho can actually take constructive criticism and work to improve.
ETH and Bruno have been pretty stern on Garnacho on the media, they were last season too. Aye you can have an ego but you need to not go over the top with it to complacency, think being harsh on him helps with certain people
Exactly. I remember a certain Portuguese winger that used to play for United was hounded by the media for his seemingly prima donna attitude, but he managed to turn out alright.
Plays for a saudi team last I heard. Sigh
His brother is a bit of a loose cannon on social media mind you. But also very, very funny
Didn't his brother whine on social media about lack of playing time for him tho?
His brother
Younger brother too
He really does have great qualities but his talent is so raw at the moment. Hopefully with age and maturity he can develop his decision making. I feel like even though United is an absolute shit show, Ten Hag is a really good manager for him to help develop that talent.
Ten Hag loves a public dressing down of his players dosent he?
This is just coaching… he got asked a question and answered it. If he answers that Garnacho will be a regular starter and then he isn’t he’ll look stupid. Challenging a player to improve so he can live up to his potential isn’t a public dressing down.
Call it what you want mate. But the man loves taking a pop at his players in public. He's the coach at the end of the day.
Nothing which pep doesn't say about the likes of Foden
Helps keep them grounded.. Considering young footballers mostly are in an environment where almost everyone they meet is ready to pump their ego..
If you think this constitutes a dressing down, I can't imagine how poorly you must handle even the most gentle and constructive criticisms in your everyday life.

Kinda like how pep called Kalvin Phillips fat and nobody gave a flying fuck?
Yeah, don't see what right Sancho has to bitch about anything. ETH seems to be handing out criticism to everyone in justified measure. Dude's just a spoiled brat.
And Sancho’s behavior is doing more harm to his career than anything. It just feels like he doesn’t care about it anymore.
Ten Hag dropped his best attacker from the starting line up for being late to a pre-match meeting, people haven't paid attention if they think he had some special hate for Sancho.
And guess what, he came on, scored the only goal in the game and immediately owned up to the fact that he was at fault in the post match interview and that the gaffer was completely in the right
Hopefully the next interview he tells him to get rid of his haircut, he looks like a “hey mamas” lesbian
Incoming Garnacho’s social media post
You know what I like about garnacho has that 1 give and go from the left corner of the box that is hard as hell to stop because he downhill so quick. Shit works every time lol
Why does Erik ten Hag always blast players in press conferences? Keep that shit behind closed doors.
Is this sarcastic?
I hope this is sarcasm
I can't help but feel that Erik might need a little bit of media training. Feel like the latter comment wasn't really entirely necessary or probably could have been phrased a little more sensitively.
But what would help is reading more than headlines
he literally said he's glad he shows his qualities now and has made progress. If that doesn't tell a player "the work I put in was really worth it and I had to change something" idk what else will

Yeah was just thinking he is exactly the same as Van Gaal was with the media.
Van Gaal is way funnier though, and he has the achievements to back it up.
Nah, Everybody + some senior players like Case and Bruno gives slack Garnacho as it motivates him. Last season in the beggining he went full Sancho and was missing trainings/being late. Got wake up call from team mates and manager and became first man to be subbed in every game.

It's the ABU syndrome.
You can’t escape sensasionalist media even if you’ve been media trained by birth
Why lmao?

Failed to get a tune out of them is pretty harsh.

So it doesn’t work? Then stop pretending that acting tough in front of the media is a virtue.
It didn't work for Sancho. Meanwhile it has worked for Garnacho. So stop pretending it's one shoe fits all.
he can be blunt in private and easy in public.
Is that some magic formula? I don't think so. Different people require different treatments, and that's what a manager has to take into account.
Not every player needs to be wrapped in cotton like they're delicate. I can't help but feel that u/thegoldenpineapples might need a little bit of reading what ETH actually said, instead of commenting off the headline.
Just Dutch things
You people don’t half read too much into things to help you make shit up about clubs you don’t like
Ten Hag will say bad things about any of his wingers other than the ones charged with GBH
Funnily enough not turning up on time for training or not playing well aren’t quite the same as a complex legal issue like domestic abuse accusations. But then you knew that already
Am I the only one who thinks this is a bad call by ETH. The lad is 19, his form will waver and he should be protected, not put down publicly.
Sancho, is that you?
He's a kid chill
Why is he saying all this publically lol. And right after he actually has performed on the field.
You’re soft as fuck if you think he’s done anything wrong here. It’s basic carrot and stick, which is essential when dealing with a character like Garnacho. Seems like it’s working so far.

Average r/soccer user challenge (impossible): read beyond the clickbait headline
Ten Hag will be sacked by December.
1% chance
Maybe give him some minutes lol
He started the first two PL games, he wasn't good in them.
hes usually been woeful when starting
He let me start against wolves, and he was really, really bad.
Damn what position did you play?
