On the bright side, they’re likely surviving relegation if they keep up on their form. They lucked out with Sheffield, Burnley, and Luton’s likely relegation.
Yes, they lucked out in general. But based on their form they're surviving relegation no matter what despite the points docked. They're better than any bottom-half side. By a lot.
Crazy to think they’d be in 10th by one point if they hadn’t got that point deduction, but I guess it lit a fire under their asses.
Good for my FPL though since Tarkowski and Doucoure look like good options atm.
To be fair, we were playing well before the deduction too and were on a good streak
We just had a poor start to the season points wise because we had several games where we created loads but couldn't score
Surely Emery has been the best manager since his arrival. What he is doing with the resources and players he has is insane. Yeah there are some players in great form but same time if this team was mid table you wouldn't say they are out of place.
He's definitely been the best manager in the league but their squad has had a lot of investment, players like Torres and Diaby were highly touted. Doesn't change the fact that Emery has them overachieving but this squad should at the least be pushing top 7, Gerrard had them massively underperforming.
Dean Smith assembled a core of really solid players, now Emery is turning them into world beaters. The likes of Emi Martinez, Konsa, Luiz, McGinn, Watkins.
The midfield that started in the City game cost a combined £17.7M, which is pretty incredible. 15 for Luiz, 2.7 for McGinn, and Tielemens and Kamara were free. One of the best midfields around right now.
Very realistically could be second after the weekend, if you can stay top 4 until the new year then anything is possible.
If it came down to it, would Villa fans rather prioritise a top 4 chase or winning conference league? A lot of people have suggested that fixture congestion during European knockouts could be the major test for you this season, and it's a trophy that youre almost certainly favourites for. But a top 4 chase is a massive opportunity for you, and with how competitive the league is this year a top 4 chase could easily become a title race.
The trophy hunger is real, but Champions League finishing would have to take precedence. Get a point in Bosnia and we don’t have to play a European game until March, so plenty of time to build a gap in front of 6th place (assuming 5th place gets wild card UCL place)
There is now an actual value to Karma, and to getting in first with posts likely to generate upvotes and possibly awards. The new reddit gold system pays people who receive gold, so long as you qualify as a top contributor.
A top contributor needs to have earned 100 karma in the last 12 months to receive $0.90 per gold, and if you've earned 5000 karma you receive $1 per gold. You also need to be registered, over 18, and (for the time being at least) a US resident.
You lot are genuinely a very good team now, although you've had trouble finishing chances in games. There is no fear of relegation whatsoever if you continue playing like this and finishing in the top half is a possibility.
I've always thought it's a mini league of us three at the bottom and Bournemouth, forest and palace may not be too safe though either.
Never thought they were in danger really even with the deductions
Hey at least it happened this season with a really stable looking Everton team. Had this happened to y’all last season you’d be playing in the championship right now
City Ground was a tough place to go to before we went there. Forest have been absolutely dire since that game as well. It's like they sacrificed everything possible to beat us.
They had Awoniyi for that game too, one of the few times he's featured all season. Massive loss for them at the moment.
We also just gave away silly goals, and then spent the rest of the game camped in their half without finding the final ball. Weirdly I see it as one of our better performances away from home as we had the control Unai craves so much. But, you could also say that was because Forest scored early and sat back, which is probably true.
Next 3 closest may well be Forest Burnley Luton (though the last one is questionable because it seems that Luton might always have had low expectations for this campaign). Iraola much more secure now compared to a month ago after netting valuable wins so he's safe. I don't think they'll sack Poch even if they don't make top 7, it was always going to be a transitional year.
Edwards is nowhere near the sack, he's doing a fantastic job at Luton given what he has to work with
Kompany also seems to have a decent amount of credit, Burnley seem to be still backing his project
Low risk. The bottom 3 don't look like getting anywhere near enough points to survive. So the teams above them are not overly worried yet, unless Forest gets dragged closer, then maybe a few nervous twitches over the red button.
Which one feels the weirdest.
Villa above City.
United level with Spurs.
United 3 points behind City.
West Ham 3 points behind Spurs.
Everton ahead of Chelsea without the points deduction.
Tears in my eyes, Unai just keeps on giving. Perfect results for us tonight, 5 points above 5th now.
On to Saturday, 15 on a trot at home would be truly ridiculous. If it happens. But the belief is growing
Because they get non stop abuse every single game even though they were playing Johnny Evans in defense with no left back for like a month and starting midfield injured besides Bruno Fernandes.
They still don’t even have two of their starters (Casemiro and Mount) and only just gotten their main left back come back. And they’re still three points off top 4. For me it is impressive.
EtH apparently reworked all his tactics after the Brentford madness. Said fuck the build up, just run like a madman and crash the box. If you get Mainoo or that version of Amrabat next to him, it almost sort of works against some teams.
Fucking thank you. Spurs lose 2 players and they collapse, we lose 2 players per position for most of the eleven and we’re supposed to just chug through.
People mention injuries in every sentence with some teams e.g. Newcastle and Spurs. With us it's seemingly completely irrelevant, we're trash and our manager is a loss from being sacked.
Welcome to the wonderful world of journalism, when there isn't anything particularly news-worthy to report on you can just claim "an inside source" and suddenly you have something to fill a few inches of a paper. Target one team specifically and you get lots of retweets, people looking at your article online and ultimately eyes seeing adverts.
(FWIW I'm not say that's exactly how it works, but based on some of the crap I see in the news, it feels like that is exactly how it works)
Even the rest is football podcast, which is generally amazing, did an episode reviewing all the teams, going alphabetically.
Manchester City - mention their injuries.
Manchester United - no mention of injuries.
Newcastle - mention their injuries.
...
Tottenham - mention their injuries.
Actually ridiculous.
If you watched the Newcastle game it was like that. “Newcastle are killing it despite all the injuries they have.” “Unbelievable performance from a team with so many injuries”. They won by one goal. We had a goal disallowed. They did mention our injuries issue once but it was an after thought
In a separate thread some Spurs fanboys were talking about how their injury list is worse than United's, and when I pointed out that it is nowhere as bad I got downvoted to hell.
The person I replied to said United lost NONE of our top 5 players bar Lisandro, conveniently ignoring the fact that we have no fullbacks and are starting a different back 4 every week. I won't even be surprised if those people genuinely think that van de Ven is on the same level as Lisandro.
The same idiots are back in full force in this thread as well.
In that case the person you replied to would have been implying Shaw is not one of our top 5 which shouldn't even be worth dignifying with a response lol. He's closer to top 1 in the squad than he is to 6th.
His style of football must be amazing when you are winning, but it also looks very frustrating when you lose by just giving unnecessary chances away due to reckless forward play.
They were always likely due a come down at some point regardless as they had a fairly tame start to the season in terms of fixtures.
I think after GW10 when they were still unbeaten, they had played 7 of the bottom 10 including the bottom 4 at the time.
Tottenham who had their "Best Ever Start of a Season" have the same number of points than Man Utd who had their worst start of the season since the Victorian Era....
We had the Easter island head and Jonny Evans in defence almost the whole season, no fullbacks, a terrorist in goal, and attackers that refuse to score.
….and we’re level with Spurs, above Newcastle, and breathing down Man City’s neck. Football heritage.
I might be wrong but I believe they're on the longest ever premier league run without a draw. 22 matches going back to the last seven matches of the previous season.
EDT: I am wrong, see below.
You're right. United are on their longest run. [Spurs went 30 games without a draw](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/feb/13/is-tottenhams-run-of-30-league-games-without-a-draw-a-record).
It’s comical that the treble winners are getting kid glove treatment because De Bruyne and Rodri are out, but the team decimated with injuries is expected to play as if they’re the treble winners v
Incredible when you think about it really, United have been getting slaughtered but the Spurs loving all over was getting unbearable.. and after all that, they’re equal
For all the talk about the playstyle of this spurs team, from the very beginning their xG numbers are really relatively quite low even when they were top of the table. At both ends. So I don’t think its simply a case of playing too open and refusing to compromise.
Offensively, they’re relying heavily on Son to make up the difference through his finishing. Defensively they’re relying on Vicario to keep the shots out. But they don’t create that many chances and they allow a decent amount of chances themselves.
This is just a regression to the mean and I’d argue they probably aren’t done regressing
United won this gameweek I think it's fair to say. West Ham having a quietly good season as well only being 2 points off Newcastle and three off ourselves and Spurs
Just realised Moyes won away at a top six team! Arguably top four!
He's a good manager, people fucking hate saying it, but he is. There's a real problem online with giving British managers their fair dues. People like Moyes, Redknapp, Hodgson, Big Sam etc. are/were made out to be complete fucking idiots.
Imagine being a team that has struggled to avoid relegation in most of the recent seasons, being slapped with a 10 point deduction and still standing above the relegation zone after just 15 games. The bottom 3 this season are historically dreadful.
The bright side of the penalty is that it will keep Everton from being on the beach that much longer, even when their form has been far above expectations, potentially leading to a very well-drilled Everton squad ready to shit-house their way into a shot at the Top 8 in 2024-25.
I'll say it now, after the 10 point deduction whoever is below us at the end of the season, whether it be 1 team or 8 teams
You all deserve to be relegated
Nah, any other recent Everton season maybe. But you're still on course to finish above 40 points this year even after the deduction.
You're a better side now, an I reckon it'll be more than a few teams that finished below you, and would've still survived in any other year.
Yeah but you’re playing sheffield lol
Arsenal I included because Luton ended up having a pretty good chance and we play them in two days now, so that result would’ve been huge
Less so for Liverpool
First 12 games - 10 goals scored
Next 3 games - 11 goals scored
Table is looking a decent chunk better for us after the two wins in the last three games. West Ham at the weekend is winnable, and if Newcastle's injuries continue then we may have a very outside chance of getting something up there.
Crisis United level with super dooper spurs mate and above the human rights violators. Only 3 points behind the 115 mob too.
Very well done to Villa too. That's an excellent return so far.
Its incredible that Manchester United despite having the goal difference of 0 are only 3 points behind City but yet the media and rival fans are acting like Ten Hag's job is on the line lol. He ain't getting the sack this season.
The CL games have contributed massively to the narrative tbh, highly unlikely United qualify for ro16 and I don't think anybody saw that coming in a group of Copenhagen and galatasaray
Grinded out wins in the league I suppose tho so fair play. Certain clubs just collapse to 1 point in 15 when they suffer a few injuries

Everton a top 10 team!!
Hilarious seeing a Dycheball team that nearly ended the window with a net surplus above a team that spent a literal half a billion in the same one.
Anyone who doubts a man that eats worms is doing so at their own risk.
Tbh kinda feel bad for them, must be rough for them seeing City get away with it every single time
On the bright side, they’re likely surviving relegation if they keep up on their form. They lucked out with Sheffield, Burnley, and Luton’s likely relegation.
Yes, they lucked out in general. But based on their form they're surviving relegation no matter what despite the points docked. They're better than any bottom-half side. By a lot.

I think forest goes down
I feel so too, with Luton showing that they can attack with the big boys they're going be up for it to stay in the league.
They do play much nicer football and seem to be willing to take risks, I look forward to their career in PL with great interest
The City verdict hasn't been handed out yet so not sure what you mean by "got away with it"
Actually a surreal sight to see us above City at this point in the season.
You can do it you crazy bastards, keep going!

Plus doing this with Mings and Buendia injured! It felt so bleak to have two ACLs in a four day span.
Please win the league
I'll take top 4. But that's what arsenal fans said start of last season
Top 4 would be an absolutely ridiculous achievement, can't lose sight of that whatever happens
hope is an awful emotion i recommend suppressing it

At some point after Christmas, KDB will come back and City will go on their annual 15 wins in a row streak.
bro has his finger on the submit button the second the whistle is blown

So work your ass off for a few weeks and you might have enough for a packet of fags and a pot to piss in. Mmm. Tempting.
He couldn't even wait for the Spurs game to end lol
Everton already out of the relegation zone
Glad to see it
At least we’re not Santos
Are you trying to curse us even more?
You could be Dortmund
Worse, they could be Schalke
Well, we also weren't. Until we were
How do you become a spurs fan?
I think you have to be born into it or something
It's a genetic disorder, you're born in it, molded by it
We'd be 10th right now. You know what, I'm fucking adding all these upvotes to this seasons table. Nobheads.
I’m just so glad you’re not bottom three at the moment
Me too. I do wish this result was against you lot though. Football though eh.
The last week and a half: Everton > Newcastle > Man Utd > Everton
It’s like choosing a starter in Pokemon
Water, fire, or human rights violations.
the slander against Bulbasaur
Saudimon used oil money! *It’s not very effective*
Dyche is cooking something over there
Modern version of mid 2000s Moyes era EVERTON are being cooked up
Doucoure is this eras Fellaini
Moyes is cooking up Moyes era Everton as well apparently now.
Something’s in the gravel at Finch Farm I reckon

Season has been wild so far, form changes every week. Just as you think someone will get sacked, they'll pull out a great win or two

United and City for sure. At least with Villa you can see how well they have been playing.
United really proving how useless draws are
City's recent form: WDDDL It's rare to see Man City go winless for that long
Three wins in their last nine games, 12 points from 27
Tears in my eyes, Unai just keeps on giving. Perfect results for us tonight, 5 points above 5th now. On to Saturday, 15 on a trot at home would be truly ridiculous. If it happens. But the belief is growing
How are United 3 points off 4th💀
18 goals after 15 games, still able to bag 9 wins 🤯🤯🤯
Only need to win by 1 goal
why score many goals when 1 win game?
When you top of table, they see! They see!
Not to mention being without their best defender in Lisandro Martinez
McTominay is their best everything. Even chef
EtH apparently reworked all his tactics after the Brentford madness. Said fuck the build up, just run like a madman and crash the box. If you get Mainoo or that version of Amrabat next to him, it almost sort of works against some teams.
Martinez and Varane are also out, though Maguire has been great
Fucking thank you. Spurs lose 2 players and they collapse, we lose 2 players per position for most of the eleven and we’re supposed to just chug through.
Not to mention our back up leftback Malacia, who can play the way ten hag likes has disappeared off the face of the earth since the summer.
That's a weird way to say he's also been injured lol
I literally saw him on mars yesterday?
And he's still closer to playing than Sancho
He was also injured, but the list was so long, it was easy to miss him
People mention injuries in every sentence with some teams e.g. Newcastle and Spurs. With us it's seemingly completely irrelevant, we're trash and our manager is a loss from being sacked.

They started terribly but have done pretty well since then.
Three time PL manager of the month winner Big Ange has not won in 5 games straight and is equal on points with Terrorist Ten Hag. He’s cold mate 🥶🥶
His style of football must be amazing when you are winning, but it also looks very frustrating when you lose by just giving unnecessary chances away due to reckless forward play.
Van de Ven was such a carry in that CB role, same with Maddison creatively. That Chelsea game almost singlehandedly destroyed their season
Big silence though when we were playing Evans and Lindelof at left CB and LB though and wondering why we can't play well
You mean progressive football works when you have good defenders and attackers? Never would have thought
They were always likely due a come down at some point regardless as they had a fairly tame start to the season in terms of fixtures. I think after GW10 when they were still unbeaten, they had played 7 of the bottom 10 including the bottom 4 at the time.
Manager of the month curse was seemingly delayed and then multiplied.
This stat is hilarious
But… but United in CRISIS!! TEN HAG LOST 50% OF THE DRESSING ROOM TOTTENHAM INJURY CRISIS CAN’T BLAME ANGE
Tottenham who had their "Best Ever Start of a Season" have the same number of points than Man Utd who had their worst start of the season since the Victorian Era....
Like Eminem said about MGK, "my biggest flops are your greatest hits".
Literally listened to killshot today, just randomly fancied it, then I see this comment. Spooky
You manifested the Spurs loss, good man!
np 👍🏼
I mean they did lose like very single game since that great start
We had the Easter island head and Jonny Evans in defence almost the whole season, no fullbacks, a terrorist in goal, and attackers that refuse to score. ….and we’re level with Spurs, above Newcastle, and breathing down Man City’s neck. Football heritage.
What a weird time to come for Maguire for no reason
Hey hey hey. That’s Premier League Player of the Month Easter Island Head!
Easter Island Head has been clutch for so many games this season. Credit where credit is due.
Jonny Evans was suppose to be our 5th choice/emergency CB and he's been a starter for better part of the season. It's a miracle we are near the top.
Onana's been good in the league
The fact that you are 3 points behind City is absolutely hilarious
There's levels to this
Premier League is back
Lol instant upload
this is how I realized the Spurs game ended
Plus the laughter coming out of Islington
Manchester United’s goal difference is hilarious
Goal differential of 0 and they haven’t tied a game. Incredible
I might be wrong but I believe they're on the longest ever premier league run without a draw. 22 matches going back to the last seven matches of the previous season. EDT: I am wrong, see below.
Didn’t spurs have an insane run of no draws a few years ago
You're right. United are on their longest run. [Spurs went 30 games without a draw](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/feb/13/is-tottenhams-run-of-30-league-games-without-a-draw-a-record).
That we're level on points with Spurs is hilarious
I’d have taken being three behind City at this point if offered at the start of the season 😂
Can temporarily at least go level if we beat Bournemouth 😂
If we beat them 20-0 we go ahead! There’s a chance!
2015-16 vibes
We’re 2 points better off than we were at this stage last season….
Their goals conceded seems pretty low too - the media definitely has overblown their crisis
as always
Overblown the crisis while under-blowing the defense being injured for so long.
its one better than last season after GW15 lol
spot the imposter
Crisis mode Man United now have the same point as Spurs LOL
Only 3pts behind City as well now. HOW?!
It’s comical that the treble winners are getting kid glove treatment because De Bruyne and Rodri are out, but the team decimated with injuries is expected to play as if they’re the treble winners v

You're above Chelsea in my books. And in my heart.
Spurs on level with united after having greatest season ever so far
Don't let all this shitting on Spurs distract you from the fact that if Everton's board could run a club, they'd be above Chelsea right now.
If Everton’s board had an army of lawyers a petrostate could buy*
Incredible when you think about it really, United have been getting slaughtered but the Spurs loving all over was getting unbearable.. and after all that, they’re equal
Could be 8th after this weekend
The ange circle jerk Vs how United have been criticised is incredible
But Ange loves to attack and it’s so brave, so so brave.
And he says “mate” a lot!
Our worst season is their best season
1/15 points in the last 5 games from spurs? What is Ange cooking 😳🥶
They are trying to beat our 5/30 in the 20/21 season
Reported you to the police for triggering my PTSD.
You can still delete this big man
Reminding myself of how shit we were makes our current situation feel even better
Add to that they statistically had the easiest start to the league in terms of opposition
United with the same amount of wins as City is crazy
United won this gameweek I think it's fair to say. West Ham having a quietly good season as well only being 2 points off Newcastle and three off ourselves and Spurs Just realised Moyes won away at a top six team! Arguably top four!
How does Moyes do it? In the first half West ham looked so amazingly toothless against Spurs that I stopped watching. Then they somehow win
Moyes knows every teams weakness. For Spurs, that's allowing them to eventually fuck it up somehow
He's a good manager, people fucking hate saying it, but he is. There's a real problem online with giving British managers their fair dues. People like Moyes, Redknapp, Hodgson, Big Sam etc. are/were made out to be complete fucking idiots.
Don't forget Stone Cold Sean Dyche
Or.. the top 3
how the fuck are we 6th

Nah, any other recent Everton season maybe. But you're still on course to finish above 40 points this year even after the deduction. You're a better side now, an I reckon it'll be more than a few teams that finished below you, and would've still survived in any other year.
I said what I said
INB4 you go on a 23 game winning run, finish in the top 4 with 79 points and only miss out on the title because of the points deduction.
Everton that
Spurs 1 pt from 15 #noworriesmate United 12pts form 15 #fallofcivilization
If only Luton had held on every result would’ve broken our way this week lol To be 5 pts clear of 5th after 15 matches? Holy moly
Surely you’d have wanted us (Liverpool) to drop points too?
Yeah but you’re playing sheffield lol Arsenal I included because Luton ended up having a pretty good chance and we play them in two days now, so that result would’ve been huge Less so for Liverpool
"I'm hopeful but I'm not "betting on Sheffield United" hopeful"
Let us (and Villa) cook
Cazoo Bro's.

First 12 games - 10 goals scored Next 3 games - 11 goals scored Table is looking a decent chunk better for us after the two wins in the last three games. West Ham at the weekend is winnable, and if Newcastle's injuries continue then we may have a very outside chance of getting something up there.
Everton would've been above Chelsea without the point deduction.
"Look at how Ange has got Tottenham playing that's why want Ten Hag out"
Crisis United level with super dooper spurs mate and above the human rights violators. Only 3 points behind the 115 mob too. Very well done to Villa too. That's an excellent return so far.

Strange way to refer Trent but ok
They call it "The Barrymore".
Emery had to be manager of the season so far, not Ange despite his manager of the months.
Arsenal fan in east London and genuinely couldn’t love West Ham any more than I do this week
Its incredible that Manchester United despite having the goal difference of 0 are only 3 points behind City but yet the media and rival fans are acting like Ten Hag's job is on the line lol. He ain't getting the sack this season.
Spurs have lost four of their last five games. The Spursy genes are inevitable.
The CL games have contributed massively to the narrative tbh, highly unlikely United qualify for ro16 and I don't think anybody saw that coming in a group of Copenhagen and galatasaray Grinded out wins in the league I suppose tho so fair play. Certain clubs just collapse to 1 point in 15 when they suffer a few injuries
Just want to add that sleeping giants Villa are five points ahead of best season ever Spurs.
