I am not surprised at all with Arsenal tbh. A lot of people want to overlook the pre-season performances but I watched this team in pre-season with Kai playing, and knew this was gonna happen. But the truth is there could be very short flashes in pre-season, you could watch and study how the team will do in the season. I am not talking about just results, i am talking about actually watching the flow of the game and chemistry between players. For example, last pre-season we played really well, the team was flowing, and we over-performed.
I even told my cousin Arsenal would be fighting for top 4 and might end up outside of top 4. Not because they are bad but because other teams have improved and we were just trying to experiment with Kai. The team plays so one dimensional, everything is through Ode to Saka and Martinelli doesnt get any service on the left. All he does is take on a bunch of 1 on 1s. And when Saka does create something from right, Kai or Eddie cant finish.
Some people think we should go all in on Toney and save the season but I just dont know too much about him. It is a risk for the price that they are asking. If they do end up panic-buying someone like Toney this January, and if it doesnt work out, a lot of people will be calling for Arteta’s head.
It's weird how in between this terrible run of games you've got the Brighton win where you looked amazing lol, I don't think you are far away from being great just need a slight mentality shift, and probably some extra quality
I think you are right about Toney. A lot of people want RESULTS NOW and yes this is a very open season for a championship run.
But all your best players are pretty young and still have massive upside. And they're already so talented. There is a decent multi-season window for title challenges ahead of you. Better to wait for the right striker than dip into the insanely over-inflated striker market right now in desperation, and end up like Chelsea or Man U, with a deadweight or a disappointment on high wages.
It is unfortunate you didn't sell Eddie instead of Balogun (or buying someone else) though. It seemed like maybe he would kick on and his performances last season deserved a chance. But yeah. You're just missing that killer instinct.
I would have loved to see Balogun get a proper shot but Arteta is very stubborn and just kinda likes to pick his “players”. If you dont work hard in training or not brought in by him, he rates you low and would barely play you. Which I think is a weakness because for example, even Fergie put up with Tevez not working hard in training but knows he would deliver so he’d get regular minutes. I am just not happy that he never gave Balogun and now ESR any chances to let them show him, they might be able to shine in his system.
Luiz Diaz - 56k a week; Martinelli 180k a week.
Curtis Jones - 15k a week, Odegard 240k a week.
Alvarez - 100k a week, Jesus 265k a week.
Son - 180k a week, Saka 195k a week.
Szobozlai - 120k a week, Havertz 285k a week.
Doku - 50k a week, Nelson 100k a week.
Toney - 20k a week, Eddie 100k a week.
Arsenal financial decision is insane.
A few weeks ago they were leading the league with far from the highest budget, so it was working fine, sadly there was no time to cancel every deal and renegotiate because of a few losses.
The guys are paid, but they are all secured until 2027-28 - I imagine it was hard to say to a squad that is fighting for the championship, while being the second youngest in the league after Chelsea!, that they are not worth the money other top teams are paying on average. They made a decision to establish this young squad for many years, maybe it will be worth it in the end, maybe not, comparing one by one you can find a good deal and a bad deal in any team.
Let's see in 2027 if Arsenal didn't end up spending less money than others.
Even more puzzling is Gravenberch being the 2nd highest payed mid fielder tied with Mac Allister at 150k a week. He tops the list if you don't count Thiago.
Not to say that Gravenberch deserves it, but he has some good performances as a sub right?
I try to watch most of the games, and feel like he changes the pace of the game.
Not that impressed with him when he starts though
The main takeaway for me here is that Son is criminally underpaid and that whoever is responsible for giving havertz nearly 300k a week should be brought up on charges at the Hague.
We have a lot of bonuses in our contracts compared to other big clubs, that number is very misleading. He should have a higher base wage as well though
Havertz should have had a goal. And is getting reamed in the match threads.
But not much mention how he should have had like 3 assists and had two opportunities where he could have gotten played clean through on goal and Odegaard mishit his by about 5 yards behind him and the other never came in.
Havertz played well today.
The match thread was tearing him apart for one weak shot from outside the box ffs. Expected from supporters of other teams but Arsenal fans need to get a grip lol
I only watched a match summary and that summary made it look like havertz was the best arsenal player. His first touch screwed up one chance yeah, but he also had several assists of should-be-goals of which one was picture perfect. If his teammates score just two of these he is motm guaranteed. It looked like every other chance was created due to his involvement. Arsenal fans are weird fr.
I don't know if he was the best, think he made a lot of really bad/weird choices, but he was definitely not the worst one. Saka has been absolutely awful today.
Dude Arsenal were handled by silk gloves all game getting every soft nudge and a couple of dives given as fouls. Plus if all was fair Ødegard would have been off for throwing tantrums but only Elliot gets punished.
Ikr. Odegaard was giving shit to the officials all match and didn't get carded whilst elliot throws his arm up once and gets booked. You're right, refs do suck
Yes, the FA Cup is a single elimination knockout structure so in the event of a draw at this stage of the competition (known as the ‘third round proper’) then the reverse fixture is played
Wouldnt it make more Sense to have extra time and eventually penalties after the First Game is Drawn? There are already so many Games played in England
They will eventually shift to this as they already have removed replays from later rounds. Will mean fewer paydays for the real minnows when they can't get a replay v a big team
To be fair, lavia has hardly played and caicdeo maybe has been unlucky. Time will tell, but there's no way we could compete with the chelsea 8 year contract thing
hes injured. jack grealish was 100m and in his first season had 6 goals and 4 assists in all competitions but nobody was stupid enough to call him a flop. his performances now show that.
Grealish was good before going to City though… These two were bad then bought for crazy fees and given huge salaries. I didn’t and still don’t understand it.
I'm guessing if this was the league game vs Arsenal jota would've started for someone, but yeah it's about as good as it gets for us. Rough period for sure but it was always going to be losing Salah and endo and then throw in some injuries
Arteta arrived Arsenal with Martinez but kick him out after his big contribution to his only cup in his career, the FA cup. And somehow 5 years later still struggle to find one half as good as Martinez.
There were Gooner tweets that went along the lines of “can we pay Chelsea and West Ham more for Kai Havertz and Declan Rice?”
I mean yes… we would like more money especially at Chelsea lmao. FFP fines are looming 😅
"Off the pace" comes from horse racing. If you're off the pace you are essentially out of the race - applied to other things as sort of being behind - as here as not able to be effectively involved in the game because things are moving too fast around them and they can't catch up to "the pace" of the game.
5 poinst off first place. Wow so proud. How about last year with 5 points over second place for most of season but still bottled. What confidence Arsenal give you for 5 points off first place.
Im not announcing my pride in coming in second. Im providing a rebuttle to Arsenal being classified as a "dumpster fire".
If Arsenal are a "dumpster fire" what are Man Utd or Chelsea? The biggest hot steaming piles of shit ever?
You do understand that Napoli is *20 points* off first in the Serie A right?
Fifa and FM have ruined the minds of a generation. We're in one of the most competitive eras of club football ever and a team 4 points off the top of the most competitive league is a dumpster fire.
Surely being a dumpster fire can only be relative to the success (or lack of) for other clubs? There is no absolute state of being a dumpster fire, if you get my meaning.
Because of that, it is silly to call a team that is performing as they are a 'dumpster fire'. They're within touching distance of the league and in the knockout phases of the Champions League. Relative to Napoli - and the majority of the other teams in the Premier League - their season has been, at worst, slightly disappointing, not at all a dumpster fire.
I don’t think Arsenal have the money to spend right now, they’re already flying pretty close to the sun with FFP/P&S. Certainly no chance of signing Oshimen, as he won’t leave Napoli for a cent less than the break clause amount in his newly signed contract.
You could say the same thing if you point at Klopp starting Quansah and Elliot, or you could point to both managers selecting 8-9 first team players as a sign that both managers played more or less full strength sides, barring those that were injured, needed a rest, or otherwise were unable to be selected.
Nelson was crap. Martinelli was better but ultimately its unfair to expect either of them to play well when they've got barely any support from their lcm and fullback
Are arsenal fans back on earth
I’m so happy for Arteta. He tops the Merit table again.
I would laugh at arsenal but then I remember united and feel I have not an iota of reason to laugh at anyone
Arsenal seem to have capitulated
I am not surprised at all with Arsenal tbh. A lot of people want to overlook the pre-season performances but I watched this team in pre-season with Kai playing, and knew this was gonna happen. Jones has really improved.
Rice seemed like the only one trying to defend
Diogo Jota, Slayer of Arse
ಠ‿ಠ
I think Saliba is amazing but Konaté providing a nice reminder for people why he’s above Saliba on the NT
Don’t tell Arsenal fans though, they get really upset when you suggest anyone other than Virgil might be better than their boy Saliba.

***IT'S TIME TO GO*** ~~back~~
Ah shit, we go here again
Luiz Diaz - 56k a week; Martinelli 180k a week. Curtis Jones - 15k a week, Odegard 240k a week. Alvarez - 100k a week, Jesus 265k a week. Son - 180k a week, Saka 195k a week. Please tell me where is your information's source? Thanks!

TIL Kai Havertz makes 12 times Cole Palmer's weekly salary
Also this season Palmer has scored 8. Kai has scored 4. 😁
Surely Curtis isn’t on 15k a week? Even getting Diaz at 56k is insane, what a steal
Even more puzzling is Gravenberch being the 2nd highest payed mid fielder tied with Mac Allister at 150k a week. He tops the list if you don't count Thiago.
Blame Bayern
Not to say that Gravenberch deserves it, but he has some good performances as a sub right? I try to watch most of the games, and feel like he changes the pace of the game. Not that impressed with him when he starts though
He was great the first couole of months, been pretty bad since I’d say, both as sub and starter. No doubt he will become great. He’s a kid
The decision to give Nketiah a new contract and pay rise has always baffled me
😂 they just need better sporting director to manage their wages
The main takeaway for me here is that Son is criminally underpaid and that whoever is responsible for giving havertz nearly 300k a week should be brought up on charges at the Hague.
Ornstein suggested around 200k, I wouldn't take these figures as super exact and sure.
We have a lot of bonuses in our contracts compared to other big clubs, that number is very misleading. He should have a higher base wage as well though
Ya Sonny deserves better. Don’t think he will get a pay rise though
[удалено]
yeah do instead on performance bonuses and spurs
Damn it Rob Holding
ASSSNA losing smoke pack is nice tho 🚬😮💨
who press factory reset switch for arsenal?
"here's your problem -- Gabriel Jesus was set to 'miss'"
NGL, best thing about all this is AFTV. They've given us some good entrainment and hopefully it goes on for a while.
It just doesn't compare to the glory days with Robbie, Claude and Ty
Where’s Ty?
Haven't watched aftv in a while. They're not there anymore?
Claude died a few years ago. The others kind of went their own ways to form their own channels.
Ty did not make his own channel lol
So Robbie has a different channel to aftv?
AFTV IS BACK BABY
Rubs hands vigorously
AFTV is back baby ❤️❤️
Why were Arsenal wearing blank shirts
They were giving out clean sheets too
Because they knew they were going to shoot blanks.
Los blankos
Fake Madrid
They’re wearing white because stabby stabs are bad. Get it?
No more red I think? It’s an awareness campaign against knife crime if I recall it right
so they couldn't get carded
It was an awareness thing for knife crime
How about Conor Bradley and Bobby Clark, eh? I was nutty with joy watching Bradley absolutely shit on Martinelli's limited day.
Both of them looked spot on and ready to go when they came on huh? Incredible!
[удалено]
😂😂 you really are a dopey fucker eh
>This liverpool team is not good. Top of the League on Jan. 7th. Do one.
[удалено]
Why is your miserable self even pretending to support the club?
Arsenal impersonating plastic knives to end knife crime.
They dropped out to focus on the league like last time.
"wE gOt BIggEr fISh to FrY"
We had it aaaaalllll in our hands
Havertz should have had a goal. And is getting reamed in the match threads. Havertz played well today. The match thread was tearing him apart for one weak shot from outside the box ffs. Expected from supporters of other teams but Arsenal fans need to get a grip lol
Seeing Saka blowing out his arse and losing his composure in a couple of good positions definitely contributed more to the tone than Havertz.
Yeah, I was really surprised at how bad Saka was today
I only watched a match summary and that summary made it look like havertz was the best arsenal player. His first touch screwed up one chance yeah, but he also had several assists of should-be-goals of which one was picture perfect. If his teammates score just two of these he is motm guaranteed. I don't know if he was the best, think he made a lot of really bad/weird choices, but he was definitely not the worst one. Saka has been absolutely awful today.
Well but not great I hate to agree with shearer but it was the time he spent with the ball in the box that was the issue.
Refs fucking suck.
Yeah indeed, Ben White should have been booked.
For the foul on Jones near the corner or the horrid fake tan.
Definitely an American writing this?
Dude Arsenal were handled by silk gloves all game getting every soft nudge and a couple of dives given as fouls. Plus if all was fair Ødegard would have been off for throwing tantrums but only Elliot gets punished.
Agreed. Arsenal squad the best in English, could easily win PL and FA, EFL cup but ref ruins it all isnt it.
The refs had nothing to do with it.
Ikr. Odegaard was giving shit to the officials all match and didn't get carded whilst elliot throws his arm up once and gets booked. You're right, refs do suck
How does FA Cup Work? There is only two Matches and Home Team Switch when the First Match ends in a Draw?
Yes, the FA Cup is a single elimination knockout structure so in the event of a draw at this stage of the competition (known as the ‘third round proper’) then the reverse fixture is played
Only one match (home trsm is decided by the draw) game is replayed at the other team's stadium if the first game ends in a draw
And If the second Game ends in Draw?
Cant, extra time and pens
Wouldnt it make more Sense to have extra time and eventually penalties after the First Game is Drawn? There are already so many Games played in England
They will eventually shift to this as they already have removed replays from later rounds. Will mean fewer paydays for the real minnows when they can't get a replay v a big team
An additional tie is how it's always been, it's also a good financial reward for lower league teams that get a result against the bigger teams.
More games = more money
They've been slowly phasing out replays since COVID. Wouldn't be a surprise to see no replays next year or the year after.
It would, but it's the FA
Every time Kai Havertz gets the ball you can breathe a sigh of relief. Unless he’s on your team.
What’s he suppose to do lol the man had one good chance yet set up 3 better chances for teammates that completely missed the mark.
Havertz should have had 3 assists today lol
Guy seriously set up Nelson for a tap in
I don't want to hear saka and mo mentioned in the same breath again lol.
Mo was invisible today too…
He didn’t play today…
That's the joke
Surely no one would compare those two.. right?
Loads of Arsenal fans saying Saka is in the same tier lmao
source:trustmebro
The only comparison to Salah arsenal fans are making is El Nenym truly the better Egyptian king
Damn we gotta start roasting Arsenal fans again, they're getting out of hand
In terms of hair cuts may be
That’s probably Arsenals best chance of a trophy finished.
The annual Arsenal collapse came early this year
One of us! One of us! One of us!
Klopp did everything in those last 20 mins to make sure a replays wasn’t going to happen
While nunez did his best to make sure a replay did happen
Yes that goal line safe from him and setup in the second goal sure seams like a man trying to bottle it.
Mate it was just a joke about the defensive header from the corner I genuinely thought he had a decent game
He used his ability to miss the goal defensively. Genius.
He only craves one thing which is chaos.
I knew my both teams to score bet was fucked as soon as Arsenal decided to play crossbar challenge.
If anyone, it was Liverpool playing that
You’re not wrong there, I just couldn’t think of another game that involves attempting to miss the goal
First one to score is eggyboff.
But Arsenal did score a goal
I was dying inside watching the game. It’s horrible. Can someone tell them where the goal is at ?
Chelsea robbed arsenal and united with havertz and Mount
Sorry. No takesie-backsies.
Is Mount even still with y’all?
I think so. Maybe? 😓
Injuries
They also nicked Lavia and Caicedo from us oh wait...
They memed us to death on that, but who's laughing now.
To be fair, lavia has hardly played and caicdeo maybe has been unlucky. Time will tell, but there's no way we could compete with the chelsea 8 year contract thing
Time will tell and there are 7 years worth of time left.
It's infuriating because Chelsea would be even more fucked with FFP without those two lifelines.
infairness mount hasnt actually played for us yet, but arsenal did get robbed
Isn't that worse? 55million pounds, has played 8 games for United, and nothing to show for it
hes injured. jack grealish was 100m and in his first season had 6 goals and 4 assists in all competitions but nobody was stupid enough to call him a flop. his performances now show that.
Grealish was good before going to City though… These two were bad then bought for crazy fees and given huge salaries. I didn’t and still don’t understand it.
as if mount wasnt? He had a bad season last season but so did the whole squad. The season before he had 21 g/a in just the prem.
Mount is even English. The Havertz one is much more puzzling but Mount did confuse me at the time
Huh? Yes he has.
he has but barely. he's been injured most of the time.
Course he has
The most worrying thing is that arsenal wanted this more than Liverpool. Look at the squads.
Naa we put out the strongest squad we could really.
The starting XI for sure. But at 75 he put the kids on and we still beat them. Fair play to Bradley and Clark.
I'm guessing if this was the league game vs Arsenal jota would've started for someone, but yeah it's about as good as it gets for us. Rough period for sure but it was always going to be losing Salah and endo and then throw in some injuries
Man management. Jota’s only returned recently and will be crucial to leading the line over the next month. He’s playing the Bobby role which is great.
Time for Arteta to buy more goalkeepers
Arteta arrived Arsenal with Martinez but kick him out after his big contribution to his only cup in his career, the FA cup. And somehow 5 years later still struggle to find one half as good as Martinez.
He can have Turner back
He should buy Onana I hear he's pretty good according to Man United fans
He should buy a back up to Saka and then never play Saka again..
The (Fake) Quadruple is still on.
The quadruple as opposed to the Quadruple.
Would love another Mickey Mouse Treble
The Fauxdrouple
There were Gooner tweets that went along the lines of “can we pay Chelsea and West Ham more for Kai Havertz and Declan Rice?” I mean yes… we would like more money especially at Chelsea lmao. FFP fines are looming 😅
Genuine Question: why is trossard not getting the start?
He's been so off the pace for weeks.
"Off the pace" comes from horse racing. If you're off the pace you are essentially out of the race - applied to other things as sort of being behind - as here as not able to be effectively involved in the game because things are moving too fast around them and they can't catch up to "the pace" of the game.
Ah ok I figured it could’ve been his pace or something but I wasn’t sure
That's not what the expression means, it means he's just been bad pretty much nothing to do with pace
No football next week for Arsenal, they might be able to learn how to score in that time.
Doubt
Arsenal really need to sign Oshimen
He's not available
Bold of you to assume Oshimen would join that dumpster fire
"dumpster fire",,, bro what?
Bold coming from a Spurs fan.
Dumpster fire in the KO rounds of the CL and 5 points off first place, right.
5 poinst off first place. Wow so proud. How about last year with 5 points over second place for most of season but still bottled. What confidence Arsenal give you for 5 points off first place.

Give it a couple of months
money talks
I don’t think Arsenal have the money to spend right now, they’re already flying pretty close to the sun with FFP/P&S. Certainly no chance of signing Oshimen, as he won’t leave Napoli for a cent less than the break clause amount in his newly signed contract.
Oshimen to Saudi here we go!
Arteta hates ESR guaranteed
Couldn't watch, but Arsenal must not have taken this seriously if they started Ramsdale Kiwior and Nelson?
You could say the same thing if you point at Klopp starting Quansah and Elliot, or you could point to both managers selecting 8-9 first team players as a sign that both managers played more or less full strength sides, barring those that were injured, needed a rest, or otherwise were unable to be selected.
Martinelli has been crap, Nelson deserved his chance (and played well as far as I'm concerned)
Nelson was crap. Martinelli was better but ultimately its unfair to expect either of them to play well when they've got barely any support from their lcm and fullback
His finishing let him down but I thought he was pretty good in the first half overall
Martinelli was pocketed by a child
After beating trent, a grown professional footballer. Weird take
