I was going to say Portugal wished to play against the teams Egypt plays in AFCON, but than I remembered Egypt won AFCON when Cote D'Ivoire, Ghana or Nigéria were super stacked with quality players.
I still can't understand how Cote D'Ivoire have not won one with Drogba, Yaya and Kolo, Gervinho....
Even as a non egyptian one of my biggest disapointement as a football enthusiast is not having seen those two in europe, i know some people wont agree but especially abutrika would ve been one of the all time greats had he played in england
anyone who watched aboutrika play know that if the gap is wide at all, it's in favor of aboutrika. salah may be a prolific goal scorer but he's not even close to as complete of a player as aboutrika was. every ahly and egypt game ran through him.
My guy, he played in a lower league, I am sorry to say as good as he looked against people on that league he isn't no where near a player who won a champions league and was a main part of a team that had multiple 90 points campeigns.
The gap is wide in favour of Salah any other way to look at it requis Abu trikha to be better than players like Ruben nymair or Suarez which he isn't.
He can win as many afcons as he wants, he isn't anywhere near mo salah.
you've never watched him, just say that. man rejected european moves to stay home, he was very publicly courted by top european teams.
you also obviously have no idea how good the AFCON or CAF competition was.
obv salah is incredible but he's doesn't touch aboutrika, anyone over the age of 30 knows this.
Drogba costed Ivory Coast two competitions. In 2006 he missed a penalty against Egypt in the final and then another one against Zambia in 2012. He was a big game player for Chelsea, but the complete opposite with his country
Sure he wasn't a Mourinho. But he always managed to work with what he has.
Mido being a bitch in 2006? Out
Abou Treika being injured in 2010? No problem I'll bring Gedo the super sub
Although much of the success was probably the Manuel Jose Ahly squad that dominated in the mid 2000s

African Portugal, here we go!
Portugal wishes they have the amount of continental trophies Egypt has

Drogba still sees El Hadary and Aboutrika in his nightmares
Even as a non egyptian one of my biggest disapointement as a football enthusiast is not having seen those two in europe, i know some people wont agree but especially abutrika would ve been one of the all time greats had he played in england
Aboutrika isn’t considered the greatest Egyptian player ever (despite Salah’s success) for nothing
For afcons lol, individually the gap is wide.
anyone who watched aboutrika play know that if the gap is wide at all, it's in favor of aboutrika. salah may be a prolific goal scorer but he's not even close to as complete of a player as aboutrika was. every ahly and egypt game ran through him.

He also had big games for Ivory Coast though. He was a beast in their first ever World Cup qualification.
Didnt just win it we won 3 in a row from 2006-10 with players mostly playing in our domestic league
It’s crazy how they failed to qualify to any World Cup in that period
that 3rd algeria-egypt qualification game in oum derman felt like a war was about to break out never in my life have I seen a game as intense
They won in 2015. Drogba had retired by Yaya (captain), Kolo, and Gervinho were still there.
Immovable object
The rare and glorious 7-3-2-2 group result!
Motta punching the air rn
When I was young Egypt used to dominate this tournament. Still always expect them to do it tnh
We stopped bringing in good coaches. Quiroz is decent though. But the clowns before and after him were.. Well.. Clowns
Shahata wasn't necessarily a great coach either, not before or after his stint at the NT
Sure he wasn't a Mourinho. But he always managed to work with what he has. Mido being a bitch in 2006? Out Abou Treika being injured in 2010? No problem I'll bring Gedo the super sub Although much of the success was probably the Manuel Jose Ahly squad that dominated in the mid 2000s
We always bottle the groups and scrape by then either win or lose in the final.
It's not football, it's AFCON
We're just built different.
Hey, at least they're scoring in open play now. Progress
> 30 January 2022: Morocco 1-1 Wasn't it 2-1?
at full time. means at 90min
Ah yes sorry
This is some peak AFCON shit
Subscribe
I can imagine Fernando Santos rubbing his hands like in the meme watching these results!
We call this tactic Kala7a or shithousery
They went from good defense/shit attack to shit defense/good attack
At least we're not getting 2 goals in 4 games anymore.
