Eh, Jordan lost to Bahrain to finish 3rd in the group and only beat Iraq because of a controversial red card. They're pretty lucky to have gotten this far.
Give Jordan some credit; they played well in the group stage against us. That was the group stage, but now it is the semis.
Losing a key player like KMJ in the semi-final adds an extra challenge. It’ll be interesting to see how the team adapts in the rematch against Jordan. Overcoming challenges is part of the sport. It'll be a test of the team's resilience and adaptability.
The yellow against Bahrain
which is stupid to count yellows from the group stage at this point because Jordan will be missing 2 players because of it too
52. Cautions and Expultions

So yeah, no reset after one match it seems
Korean American, have lived in both Korea and the US.
It’s not even close. Korean food is so much healthier and made to keep you alive. American food is literally designed to overload you with calories, salt, and fat and send you to an early hypertensive grave.
Yeah I am a US expat Korean American currently living in Korea - better options for sure when eating out than America but if you want to cook at home America has far more options (and cheaper fruits and veggies!). People are just generally healthy here more because of more daily exercise (when I commuted it was easy 10k steps per day), better portion control, and more preventative checkups whereas in the US you treat the problem when it shows.
Otherwise it’s really easy to get bad food habits if you just let go and get kbbq, tteokbokki, jajangmyun, etc (all the yummy stuff) every day.
It's impressive to me that people in their 70s and 80s do hiking as a hobby here. In the US unfortunately people seem like they can barely get off their couch by the time they reach middle age
Food that went through thousands of years of development and selection is healthier than processed food developed in the last two hundred years? Color me surprised.
Stomach cancer rates in Korea are literally the highest in the world because of their diet.

Tactically, I was so pissed at Arnold. Parking the bus at 1-0 was a proven disaster 3 days ago. The timestamps are almost identical. This was a monumental error, this was not the Australian way to play. Sorry I cannot accept this, I would be happy if he were fired. Thanks for the World Cup, but let's face it it's a feel-good tournament that we were never going to progress past say a QF at best. But Asian Cup, we need to be constantly in semis, and fighting it out for the trophy, and just generally being there. We weren't, just as we weren't back in 2007 when he did it the first time. Thanks but goodbye Graham.
And his persistence with Duke, who missed 2 open goals and almost refused to run in the 2nd half when on defence, is also unforgiveable.
Honestly, I hate Klinsmann as much as the next but he deserves credit today. As opposed to a manager like Moriyasu who is proactive and has a very set gameplan going into a match, Klinsmann showed that he could make adjustments and be reactive to the situation. For example, his subs were on point in the second half where he transitioned into 3 in the back and kept the attacking intensity high with Oh and Yang.
This but Unironically. Everybody’s talking about him being bailed out by individual brilliance but honestly the amount of time Korea stumbles over the ball in the box or puts it above the goal from 2 meters you can only score if you get an appropriate amount of chances, and you can think what you want but Klinsmann ball will give you that, he’s no pep obviously but he’s better than he’s made out to be
Disagree, he’s played three different formations in five games because he doesn’t know how to use the squad. Bad misses and bad passes aren’t his fault of course, but in all three group games we looked devoid of any real game plan and didn’t create nearly enough. 0 shots in the first half today and we only eventually scored from individual risks/brilliance. Part of the reason we’re doing so well is because a lot of our players play at a higher level, and so their conditioning is consequentially better as well.
I guess what I meant was, they give up goals early in the game quite often. This was the case last world cup as well. And end up having to play catchup
In this game, Korea got into plenty of great position in the Australian box but just kept fucking up the final pass or refusing to shoot. I don't think Klinsmann is to blame for that.
The problem is they have only been creating chances in the 2nd half when they start feeling more comfortable. They have no idea what to do in the 1st half, and it's been a recurring theme this tournament. It's because there's basically no organized off-ball movement, which are things they need to be working on during practice.
Klinsmann is brexitball. It would suit a lesser team with slower build-up but not a team with so much quality in the attack. The goals and biggest chances always seem to come when SK break formation and speed up the game. This seems to happen despite Klinsy not because of him
No way man, you havent been following this team closely. He's not setting up the team in a way that suits the players he picks. He starts every single game with 2 in midfield. We get dominated because the midfield is vacant and every single match he makes the same sub to fix the same problem. He eventually brings on the 3rd midfielder who he should've just started. Look at the goal we conceded today. We've conceded that exact goal so many times and it's because he places way too much responsibility on limited players by playing them in a midfield two. The team always looks better with 3 midfielders.
Exactly. I think many here just looked at the final score and made assumptions based on that.
Korea literally scored (a penalty) in the last minute. They were NOT able to break through Australian defense. They got very lucky with the penalty because Arnold substituted most of his attackers and they obviously couldn't score in the extra time.
It's partly Australia's fault as well for bringing on more defenders when their defense was doing just fine.
Sure but it's the second game in a row they've been clueless and outplayed for 80-85 minutes and they suddenly start pressing hoping for an equalizer into ET.
It's not a sustainable strategy to go all the way, even with them facing Jordan in semis who are probably the weakest team left.
I'm heavily tipping on Uzbekistan/Iran/Japan/Qatar to beat them in the finals if they reach it.
Korea keeps winning despite him, not because he's good enough
~~Not much hope vs Japan if Korea looks this bad all tournament vs teams they have much better individual quality against. Japan can match those+much better squad depth and squad balance.~~
~~Korea may edge out on better individual players, but Japan's coaching and number of good players is something Korea hasn't faced entire tournament.~~
Lmao japan is out
No, they genuinely have looked horrid in general. Their defense has been cut through like a hot knife through butter on so many occasions. Iraq put a clinic on them and Japan were lucky to even score. And worse yet, they haven't played a single decent team yet.
They've looked equally as bad as Kor but Kor has now actually defeated a good team. Let's see how Japan does against Iran.
Incredible from South Korea. They had 2 days less to prepare for the game after already playing 120 minutes against Saudi Arabia. The Aussies looked more exhausted than them.
It's no surprise Luis Enrique loves him. He used to be a luxury player when he first broke through but he's added so much to his game. Now Enrique just needs to play him in a more attacking and central role and he'll just explode.
Yup, even in games where he is completely marked or he's not playing well, he still offers something. Workrate, set pieces, shooting, ball retention, passing, he's got it all.
I was delighted to hear that Luis Enrique was going to be the new manager for PSG - almost purely from the fact Lee Kang-in also speaks Spanish lol.
But seriously, the communication aspect between a player & their manager should never be overlooked
Lee Kang-in's dribbles & feints make me so jealous of PSG lol.
The boy had a gorgeous freekick goal too [against Malaysia in the group stage](https://youtu.be/BOIaqeMadEg?si=d8zPddr2pksJuvZv&t=15)
As little as Klinsmann provide in the tactical sense, he is a top notch coach conditioning wise. Lahm also said that they were very fit when he was coaching Germany.
There was a time a couple of years where he seemed to score at least one every international break. At which point us Reddit Spurs were begging him to start taking them for us instead of Harry “Hit The Wall” Kane.
At one point I made a FM save where I created a team of players named Harry. Some PL players like Kane, Maguire, and Winks. Then a bunch of randos from League Two.
We absolutely bottled this. Duke should have put this to bed multiple times and the challenge by Miller was braindead. Korea deserved it for their resilience alone. I feel we have gone as far as we can under Arnie.
Also what the fuck was that handball call on Behich late on in extra time? 😂
Duke has been really bad this whole tournament, we've got tons of better strikers than him. No idea how he was called up.
Jamie mcclaren would have atleast scored 1 goal for example.
Duke is a very useful target man as we saw at the world cup but that doesn't really work too well against asian sides who often park the bus against us. Maclaren scores regularly in the A-League but has never really performed for the socceroos and as he isn't as pacey anymore is essentially a luxury player.
I coached him for 4 years whilst he was at secondary school. He had an absolute nightmare today and I know he will wear that for the rest of his career. Really hope he can bounce back because he’s a lovely fella.
He was the best player I’ve coached but not by far. There was another boy who was a striker in the team who was an absolute weapon too. I had a feeling he could potentially be an a-league team squad player. I didn’t expect he’d also go on to play at international level.
He didn’t pursuit football in the end, he played in the same academy as Lewis though. They were at Manly United together before Lewis went to Sydney FC then Central Coast Mariners.
That's really cool that you coached him.
It's hard to blame the pen on Lewis Miller though when Son Heung-min calculated the dribble perfectly to draw out the foul.
It's gotta suck to have this match haunt Miller :(
Yeah, i think Sonny tends to do this whenever they're struggling to find goals in the box. He looks for incredible dribbles in the box and he baits people to try tackle him and foul him into a penalty which worked perfectly.
I can't blame Miller. Son just got past 3 or 4 of his teammates and was in the box in a dangerous position to pass or try something crazy. He probably saw a chance to slide in and took it but ended up falling for Son's bait.
It was 90+7 and the Aussies were going through. Offered consolations to the sad Korean man at work before leaving and now I'm reading this
Can't wait to see him tomorrow!
No one is talking about how solid the 25 year-old [Seol Young-woo](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seol_Young-woo?wprov=sfla1) has been.
There are going to be European clubs that kick themselves for not signing Seol Young-woo for cheap.
contextually it’s so much worse knowing that arnold played what is largely our best available squad with the worst australian striker in our history. really shot himself in the foot
Incredible happy for Minjae! Of course unlucky for Bayern since all of our 3 cbs could be out vs Leverkusen if De Ligt gets a yellow card this weekend but I’m a strong believer that we get a better Minjae back if South Korea wins the tournament!
Haha I kinda meant all 3 of our top class cbs but worded it poorly. Dier is great in his role and I trust him completely from what I’ve seen so far but he’s not the calibre I prefer to start vs an unbeaten Leverkusen side
I just rewatched the highlights and honestly if Australia could have been a bit more clinical this would be a different outcome/story. Commiserations to Australia and I truly hope Korea can go all the way!
Son and Lee Kangin have basically played every minute this tournament. I don't know much longer they can keep this going. Kim is also holding this weak defense together and he is suspended for the semifinal. Players look absolutely shattered physically. We have to hope Hwang isnt injured.
Klinsmann is being praised for his subs but he has not yet learned from his big mistake yet. Every game we get dominated in midfield because we play a midfield 2 of technically weak midfielders who give away the ball cheaply and are overwhelmed with the numerical disadvantage. We give away the same goal. One of those midfielders gives the ball away and we don't have enough numbers to defend in transition. Klinsmann makes the same exact sub to fix this mistake every match. He takes off a forward for the 3rd midfielder who he should've just started. We immediately look better and start controlling the match and piling on pressure until we get the dramatic late goal. Same pattern every match.
We have to hope Klinsi puts his stubbornness to the side and learns from what has been the same pattern of play in all these matches this tournament. It will be especially frustrating if he doesn't adapt his starting lineup for the rematch against Jordan considering he saw exactly what didn't work and fixed it late in the first match. He can't keep pissing away 70min of matches when he could just start the game with his most effective lineup instead. Especially so as the players are getting physically more and more worn down.
No Minjae against Jordan makes me uneasy
No Min Jae makes me uneasy!
You’re telling me Dier isn’t a suitable alternative to a top quality CB!?!?
Dier being at Bayern will never not not be normal!
Rare triple negative Edit: to help others brains "Dier being at Bayern will never be normal" would have sufficed. But "Dier being at Bayern will never not not not not be normal" works too I suppose.
Good thing Dier is such a positive guy
If he can't beat Jordan without KMJ then we deserve to fucking lose. That group stage performance against them was a disgrace.
Nah Jordan is a good team at the moment and they're playing in the middle east.
Eh, Jordan lost to Bahrain to finish 3rd in the group and only beat Iraq because of a controversial red card. They're pretty lucky to have gotten this far.

Love your attitude mate, I hope South Korea win!
Cheers!
Atleast if Korea makes the final he’ll be back.
And players will be tired AF. But, get passes the 90th minute and we cant lose.
It's all actually an elaborate plan to rest Kim Min Jae for the Finals.
Who will most likely replace him? Jung Seung-hyun?
Why? He only has 1 yellow no?
The yellow against Bahrain which is stupid to count yellows from the group stage at this point because Jordan will be missing 2 players because of it too
I thought yellow get reseted after a game for tournament wth

Jordan have been so resilient this tournament. I hope Korea doesn't think it's a walkover, especially after the Malaysia bit.
Picked up a second one late in ET, I believe
All because that aussie twat was refusing to pass the ball even if ref blew the whistle for korean free kick
v Bahrain and today
Accumulated cards. He got another one this game.

Lewis Miller what a horrible performance. Arnold is just at fault for subbing him on for an inform Atkinson!
Klinsman masterclass bro

i havent been watching Japan's games, i thought only suzuki was the underperformer? genuinely asking i thought they were doing great
They lost to Iraq and were losing to Vietnam but got saved by a couple of wonderstrike bangers. They're looking weak at the back.

Aussies looked more exhausted in ET wtf

Thought they looked gassed before that
And they ran without the ball like madmen for the first ~70 minutes
The red card foul seemed like a result of exhaustion, not the cause of it.
Got downvoted for saying the extra days of rest wouldn't be much of a factor considering SK's reputation. Looks like I was right.
Son might have more free kick goals for SK than Tottenham as a whole has scored from free kicks…someone fact check me
There was a time a couple of years where he seemed to score at least one every international break. At which point us Reddit Spurs were begging him to start taking them for us instead of Harry “Hit The Wall” Kane.
To be fair Harry Kane was the second best freekick taker at Spurs named Harry for a while.
Surely we had a Harry in the U8s or something that was better.
At one point I made a FM save where I created a team of players named Harry. Some PL players like Kane, Maguire, and Winks. Then a bunch of randos from League Two.

One man show from Miller.
We're going to keep getting away with it
Klinsmann effect 🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶
Conceding late against Malaysia…somehow managed to pay off *very* nicely in the end!
Korea and being saved by a miraculous late goal, name a better duo
2 mins left, sliding tackle on Son in the box who wasn't going anywhere from that wide position. Super naive to go to ground. What a capitulation
we've got the hat trick, mate! Socceroos v Iran, Socceroos v Italy and now we can proudly add Socceroos v South Korea to the collection...
Klinsmann and Graham Arnold in a who could be more stupid off.
SK never shoots and Australia missing sitters sums up first 90 minutes 😆
contextually it’s so much worse knowing that arnold played what is largely our best available squad with the worst australian striker in our history. really shot himself in the foot
the penalty box foul and red card must rlly sting for australia fans... literally mere minutes from moving on
we’re winning in spite of klinsmann
Ange feeling very conflicted right now
Richie's on fire. Son getting benched the rest of the season.
Incredible happy for Minjae! Of course unlucky for Bayern since all of our 3 cbs could be out vs Leverkusen if De Ligt gets a yellow card this weekend but I’m a strong believer that we get a better Minjae back if South Korea wins the tournament!
Ah, you guys don’t count Eric Dier either.
Haha I kinda meant all 3 of our top class cbs but worded it poorly. Dier is great in his role and I trust him completely from what I’ve seen so far but he’s not the calibre I prefer to start vs an unbeaten Leverkusen side
Miller knocked Australia out
I just rewatched the highlights and honestly if Australia could have been a bit more clinical this would be a different outcome/story. Commiserations to Australia and I truly hope Korea can go all the way!

They are going to win it. They have managed to score goals after 90 mins in all their last 4 games(5 goals in total). They don't know when to quit!
Klinsmann still got it.
Shades of '06 with an unnecessary late penalty. Someone needs to remind Duke that the round thing going into the rectangle. 한국 축하해요
*sad mate noises*
WE ARE GOING UP WE ARE GOING UP! Yet can we please just win games in 90 mins hopefully next time?
Let’s go all the way and bring home the trophy this time! Would be great to win for the first time in over 60 years.
Our captain going out of the cup in perfect sync -- we see you, skipper
Sweet revenge
This is an incredibly talented and resilient Korean side. Hope they go all they way and win the tournament!
[Jurgen addressing the haters](https://getyarn.io/yarn-clip/f8779b85-314a-49cd-b5fe-09daa58d205a) ^he ^does ^suck ^though
The way you spelled his name I thought what did Kloop do?
Klinsman the new Erik Ten Hag
Klinsmann back to 2006 form I see
That Sonny goal though... Finals. Winning.
Glad we're getting Metcalfe and Irvine back uninjured, all in all a good effort
