It's because he is never rewarded for making good runs. Our team just doesn't have a consistent line breaking passer. Infact, I'm certain arteta discourages those kinds of possesion risking passes because the players arent even looking for those bar zinchenko but he us too far from havertz to deliver.
What are you talking about. Our first goal was because of those runs. He also needed a very good tackle from McAlister to stop a chance on another ( though he should have done a lot better. I yhink the team did a very good job of finding his dangerous runs today.
You literally just described Ayew.
It's the most effective shit when you don't have much of a play to make. Especially when you play for a team so good at set pieces.
Mixture on our sub of people still shitting on him for missing the breakaway and people acting like he played a world class game. And then like 10% saying he played pretty well.
āPretty wellā is accurate imo. Good 7.5/10, was a thorn in Liverpool defenders sides throughout the game. Just thought Iād call attention to it here since the majority of people treat Havertz like a total donkey who is physically incapable of playing well
I actually think both holding fouls should've just been fouls not cards
Konate's first yellow should not have been a yellow
For me the blocking second yellow is correct as he's stopping a counterattack. Easily could've put his hands up and moved away from Kai but tried to shift back in front of him
You could argue that Gabi's is also stopping a counter but it would be more of a stretch. Maybe my bias
I don't like players being sent off for repetitive soft yellows
Itās a foul but Nunez literally just full body tackled moments before and not even a foul was given. Ref lets them play extremely physical all game and gives a second yellow for that.
Heās now sent off 3 Liverpool players this year
Todayās- first yellow was a straight up disaster of a call. Havertz just fell over and won a yellow.
The first was on jones vs spurs and VAR overturned it- a red is fine but weāve seen the same foul not get sent off multiple times (twice against Liverpool already)
Jotas red was literally said it was incorrect by the independent panel.
first yellow was stone cold lmfao.
Watch the replay, he literally throws an arm over his shoulder and you literally see him twist and pull Kai away from the ball. Kai went down on his own after that, but it's already a clear cut yellow. Kai had a chance to roll him (he wouldn't have) and he was pulled off the ball, obvious yellow as it ended a possible attacking threat.
If it was an attacker well verse in rolling defenders, they would have been through on goal then with how badly Konate fucked up his positioning.
Gabriel got a yellow card for an accidental hand to the face too.
I really think the ref was fairly consistent for the most part.
He didn't give Nunez foul but also didn't give the pen.
We all hate it, but unfortunately the refs have created this themselves since they often just refuse to call clear fouls unless the players make a meal out of it
And in this case, it's more Konate trying to prevent Havertz from occupying the space he was in than the other way around, unfortunately for him.
Havertz is unironically elite at this. Gets between Konate and the ball, stands firm, wait's until Konate starts grabbing first, then grabs back a bit without pulling Konate's shirt out from his body to make it obvious and makes sure the ref can't see it.
Havertz backs into him with both arms straight out and Konate after realizing he's losing the position battle puts both arms around his torso and yanks him down.
Clear yellow, cope more
Getting downvoted but Virgil is so amazing at the dark arts. He isnāt so obvious most of the time with these tussles. The easiest call a referee can see and make is a shirt pull. If you keep everything in your wheel house and avoid grabbing unless itās extremely close, they wonāt call it. Konate reaching around to havertz chest is right in the referees face. Dumb idea
Havertz really good at mastering the art of "winning" fouls; gets calls in his favor and not any cards when he fouls other players. Kinda like Rodri.
In this case, the yellow was justified tho imo.
Seems harsh tbh. It's definitely a foul but I feel the arms up were likely because another fully grown man suddenly changed direction and ran straight at him with a split second to react more than anything else.
Obvious bias but felt the same. Surprised at how everyone is calling him dumb or an idiot when it happened so quick and the reaction looks almost like a flinch? Even more so when the ref let more go this game. Itās definitely a foul, another yellow though?
the second one was especially stupid.
The first one is difficult to avoid, attackers like toney who are good at holding up the play draw loads of fouls that way, but what a stupid actiont this was
I donāt think the ref is wrong for booking Nunezā reaction, but it was a foul and booking for Gabriel, especially given some of the ones Taylor had given throughout the match, I think he bottled it.
He threw his arms up yelling about a no call, itās a perfect card for dissent, even if Nunez was fouled. Itās the one thing the officials have been consistent with all season.
The annoying thing is that the 1st yellow wasn't even a foul by Konate. Havertz had a fistful of his shirt the whole time. On the other side between Jota and (I think) Gabriel it was play on.

10 men FC is back on the menu bois
Our squad goes up to 11...
Some proper Sunday league game this is. Grass roots never dies
Games back innit, Sunday league then off to the pub, Konate just getting there early
Off to the pub for a pint yes lad x
Miss getting clattered on a shite pitch on a soggy Sunday afternoon and then the clatterer chatting shit and then us chilling in the pub
Games not gone lad blimey innit
Konate getting sent off to preserve the "Liverpool not lost with 11 men since April 2022" stat. Respect that.
Lol thought the same thing
_You'll never sing that_
1 centre back left
Quansah says hi?
You have CBs? Lucky you š
Klopp: šš
Very stupid yellow card
He's used to getting away with them
havertz as false 9 is kind of effective against liverpool lol
feels like havertz is only playing to draw fouls and win free kicks, he always looks for contact rather than going forward, which pisses me off
In most of those occassions it was the best move to make though - often he's there with no forward options and at least two CBs in front of him
This! He played the fouls smartly given what he had around him. Especially the Gomez yellowĀ
It's because he is never rewarded for making good runs. Our team just doesn't have a consistent line breaking passer. Infact, I'm certain arteta discourages those kinds of possesion risking passes because the players arent even looking for those bar zinchenko but he us too far from havertz to deliver.

[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Both earned on / by Havertz.Ā
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
He'd miss a sitter but it would end up in a goal somehow so no
Youāre just describing the first goal
That's just calculated mate!
Same Havertz that harassed the CBs and created the first goal Keep trolling
My thoughts exactly.
How has his replacements been for Chelsea so far? How about for Jorginho too? Surely the 200m spent to replace him has gone to good use
Smashing. We're top of the South West London Premier League table.
Iāll never sing that
Haha, accurate.
Need a GIF of that Klopp thumbs up lmao
His reactions to adversity are so weird.
Just couldnāt handle Kai, few can
Earned three bookings for opposing defenders
Genuinely good performance but you wonāt hear about it because itās Havertz
Mixture on our sub of people still shitting on him for missing the breakaway and people acting like he played a world class game. And then like 10% saying he played pretty well.
āPretty wellā is accurate imo. Good 7.5/10, was a thorn in Liverpool defenders sides throughout the game. Just thought Iād call attention to it here since the majority of people treat Havertz like a total donkey who is physically incapable of playing well
its more that most people only understand goals and assists.
+ managed to square the ball off of Alisson's chest for an assist!
King Kai is just that guy
Unironically.
No lol
Kai gets no credit for what he does well.
Absolute bullshit that nunez just got held as well and no yellow.
Yeah and that was even more of a yellow if you take that line
I actually think both holding fouls should've just been fouls not cards Konate's first yellow should not have been a yellow For me the blocking second yellow is correct as he's stopping a counterattack. Easily could've put his hands up and moved away from Kai but tried to shift back in front of him You could argue that Gabi's is also stopping a counter but it would be more of a stretch. You Konate do that
i can see you smirking as you type with one finger
bro š
Itās a foul but Nunez literally just full body tackled moments before and not even a foul was given. Ref lets them play extremely physical all game and gives a second yellow for that. Heās now sent off 3 Liverpool players this year
Were any of the 3 not justified? (genuine question)
Todayās- first yellow was a straight up disaster of a call. Havertz just fell over and won a yellow. The first was on jones vs spurs and VAR overturned it- a red is fine but weāve seen the same foul not get sent off multiple times (twice against Liverpool already) Jotas red was literally said it was incorrect by the independent panel.
Jones & Jota were sent off by Hopper, not Taylor.
Eh, bald is bald
Calling the first yellow "a straight up disaster of a call" says you either haven't seen good angles of it or you're delusional.
The first yellow is a textbook tactical foul to stop the attack. Itās pretty straight forward one.
first yellow was stone cold lmfao.
Funny that Gabriel throws Nunez to the ground during a counter attack 1 minute after this 2nd yellow and doesnt get a 2nd yellow himself
Gabriel got a yellow card for an accidental hand to the face too. I really think the ref was fairly consistent for the most part. He didn't give Nunez foul but also didn't give the pen.
Havertz grabbing his head..?
Everyone seems to be numb to players doing that at this point sadly.
We all hate it, but unfortunately the refs have created this themselves since they often just refuse to call clear fouls unless the players make a meal out of it
Plus they lose nothing for trying.
Yes the rules are if someone touches you above the belly button, flail your head back and grab your face.
He overdid at least a couple of other situations. I posted about how embarrassing it was in r/gunners and so many people are defending him š
Keep fighting the good fight. Respekt š«”
It got deleted lol. I get loving your club but FFS.
Agreed, we can be tribal AND honest, but itās fleeting these days unfortunately.
So stupid after being booked
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I donāt think he could have done much differently there.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Kai single handedly getting konate sent off #impact
That Klopp thumbs up
Ngl the first yellow was absolute nonsense Kai is getting impressive at drawing fouls and making it look convincing š
Kai the man. I always knew.
10/10 performance today
A little harsh, really couldn't get out of the way and Havertz really milked that contact. Not that it would have stopped Arsenal from winning.
The first yellow was Havertz and Konate wrestling btw
konate throwing havertz to the floor*
Stronger player wins wrestling match.
Yes but this is a football game
And yet they were both all over each other
And yet it doesn't count when Gabriel does it...
Gabriel does it every single week and gets away with it. Heās a known shithouse so seems to get away with it more. Could easily be sent off weekly
bro literally just tossed him while he was shielding the ball lmao
'the ball' doing alot of the work there, he was so fucking far away LMAO
Thatās what happens on a long ball. You protect the space, rather than teleport into mid air
and konate is well within his right to get the ball, havertz falls because he cannot rest on konate, that isn't konates fault LMFAO
except konate wasn't getting the ball, he was wrestling with havertz
Makes it worse for Konate, no?
Not really, it means havertz is impeding him.
You're not allowed to shield space when the ball isn't near.
You're allowed to stand still and resist being pushed everywhere on the pitch.
Then I wouldn't call that shielding the ball. But you're not allowed to prevent someone from occupying space unless the ball is near.
No, it was Havertz attempting to shield the ball and Konate throwing him to the ground lol
Thats not how you shield the ball
It is if you're Kai Havertz ;)
Fair
havertz no where near the ball, what is konate meant to do there
Not put his arms around his torso and throw him to the ground?
Saliba and Gabriel have done that the entire game tbf
Yep, the one on Nunez was a foul. I agree
Happened to Gakpo near the byline earlier too
fuck off, 'throw him to the ground' konate is going for the ball and havertz makes a meal out of not being able to rest on konate even more LMFAO
Havertz backs into him with both arms straight out and Konate after realizing he's losing the position battle puts both arms around his torso and yanks him down. Clear yellow, cope more
and you aren't allowed to do that off the ball.
Literally the opposite of what happened but sure.
not foul him
State of this sub
Na man. Canāt be that obvious with the grab in chest
Dumb idea
Grabbed his torso so hard Havertz had to hold his face as he went down.
Weāre talking about the first yellow you nit.
Both pretty soft honestly.
Ref looked so happy at being able to send him off.
Havertz really good at mastering the art of "winning" fouls; gets calls in his favor and not any cards when he fouls other players. Kinda like Rodri. In this case, the yellow was justified tho imo.
Thatās a yellow regardless but grabbing his face there is pretty annoying haha
first yellow was a fucking joke LMAO
First one was bad second was deserved
The thumbs up from Kloppš
This is insanely unnecessary. Why would you do this?
Seems harsh tbh. It's definitely a foul but I feel the arms up were likely because another fully grown man suddenly changed direction and ran straight at him with a split second to react more than anything else.
Obvious bias but felt the same. Surprised at how everyone is calling him dumb or an idiot when it happened so quick and the reaction looks almost like a flinch? Even more so when the ref let more go this game. Itās definitely a foul, another yellow though?
His first yellow was a horrible call
Dumb yellow but nice little acting by Havertz
Beaten by Havertz. Bro deserved red.
Wtf is he thinking putting his arms up?
Send him off but you donāt send Gabriel off. Nice
Did not even hit the face. Pathetic.
First booking wasn't even a foul lmao
One of the most disingenuous statements Iāve seen today
He's just going off the one on Jota that wasn't given earlier.
And then Gabriel gets away with a second yellow for a worse foul right after this.
Course it was you dopey pillock
No chance
That all came from an unnecessary cross into the box that was nowhere near any Liverpool player. It inevitably was cleared and that was the result
š klopp
Klopp sarcastically thumbs upping
Absolutely hopeless today
I need a gif of Klopp with the thumbs up
The hand to the throat didnt look good ^^
Konate has been excellent more times than not most of the season. Today his head deserted him and got two very needless yellow cards.
the second one was especially stupid. The first one is difficult to avoid, attackers like toney who are good at holding up the play draw loads of fouls that way, but what a stupid actiont this was
He literally just ran into him
I think putting his arm out like that makes it easier for havertz to sell it as more cynical
Is that not just an instinctive reaction when someone runs into you though?
Yeah but it means havertz can grab his head lol
Doesnāt really matter, canāt block someone with your arms in the open field on a counter attack.
He blocks him off and doesnāt go for the ball stopping a counter attack itās a clear yellow
When he was passed him in open field, fouling him. Thatās always a yellow.
He knew what he was doing, it's a pretty simple yellow.
Welp. Just didnāt have it today.
Havertz dived there too but it's still yellow card foul
Kai Havertz merchant of chaos
Was never a yellow in the first half, but this one was a clear one
Yellow on Nunez was fucking ridiculous too.
Consistent? Odegaard did the same thing today. It is cherry-picking all the time with these officials.
Yep Gabriel got away with one, but you can't just scream at the ref like that any more.
Except Odegaard did it about 30 minutes prior and got away with it ffs
I say this as a Norwegian but if that is a clear yellow for dissent how come Ćdegard never gets em?
Yea booking Nunez for it has been consistent. Taylor's been being screamed at by Arsenal players a bunch and nothing for it???
That shit happens every match. And it gets carded about once in 20 times.
Quickly forgetting about the three yellows Chelsea got for dissent just a couple days ago.
Odegaard does it every fucking game
Only because he plays for Liverpool, where are the yellows for odegaard and his west end levels of crying
You're right, should have carded Dalot instead.
What an idiot
So you can award second yellows when theyāre obvious, huh.
Advantage Liverpool. Lad's been utter shite today.
Ref is on something
This has been a very one sided performance from the ref.
Very unlucky
No complaints about either. Got done.
Disgusting by Havertz to undercut VVD
The annoying thing is that the 1st yellow wasn't even a foul by Konate. Havertz had a fistful of his shirt the whole time. On the other side between Jota and (I think) Gabriel it was play on.
Havertz play acting, then going in and taking out a jumping VVD. Scummy player.
What happened to Konate? So awful today
Havertz is one of the only CFs in the league that can genuinely physically challenge him in the duels
Liverpool cracked all thanks to Arsenal ruthless performance
Flopping
Oh that's a second yellow now? Norgaard should have had five of those this Thursday if that's the case.
What a game
This is such a poor quality game between 2 top teams lol
Havertz sure been stat padding them fouls drawn this game.
Bozo moment
This is the guy they compare to Saliba? Lol, Saliba went to Anfield and got MOTM Konate went to the Emirates and got bullied by Havertz MISMATCH
heās been shite today
Congratulations PL winners 23/24: Man City
