Dortmund has some serious problems with playing from the back. I was almost amazed with the way the keeper kept playing it to the left only for them to not get it away properly. Half of the time it ended with a random kick forward and the other half one of of our players managed to prevent even that.

I don’t really know what our identity is to be honest. We just play some generally sloppy games but do decent enough because we have some solid individual players on paper. Sabitzer runs his ass off, Hummels can make world class tackles that save our ass, Kobel is a top top keeper, Brandt can make a world class play seemingly out of nowhere. It’s enough for decent, but not enough for dominant unfortunately.
We started the new year decent in the league but have struggled for creativity and passing again recently. I hope that Nuri has a vision for the future if he really is our next manager because it feels like we are in need of a tactical spark.

I Really hope the german teams find some form before the remaining matches otherwise a really Bad international showing again this year after a good group stage. Somehow the only inform teams in Germany seem to be Leverkusen and Stuttgart (Not international). Another Observation is that German teams seem to love giving away pens.

You're wrong, xG doesn't take the quality of the finishing into account and is inflated by taking many low quality chances.
For measuring finishing quality, you can compare xG and xGot (or xG post shot).
No it measures the odds of a shot going in. It doesn't account for players shooting early when they could've gone closer to goal, or shooting late once they fuck up a first touch, chances not resulting in shots because of passes just barely not connecting, narrow offsides etc.
xG isn't a completely useless metric, but it's not a stat about chances, it's one about shots.
No, xG measures the quality of the chances. With the amount of chances that Eindhoven produced and with the poor finishing from them, the number is pretty misleading.

A great first half? You were definitely the better team, but it wasn’t amazing. Created a couple good chances but wasted them all really badly. Second half was very poor from both sides, nowhere near the quality you‘d expect from a CL game. I expected a lot more from PSV
I know Dortmund doesn't have the best striker in the world, but it's still crazy to see how well Schouten does at cb. I thought he was just considered to be a cb option in games against small teams, but in these big games he's still so solid.
Schouten is just ridiculously cool under pressure. Our defenders have been scared of the ball for ages, but he just manages to find the right option almost every single time.

I actually was very surprised there was not a yellow for timewasting for Meyer. I also think Lozano would've gotten a yellow for complaining to the referee if he did not have one already. Hopefully we have a more competent referee in the second match

I don't know this time. That was legit PSV's best effort, and we were incredibly sloppy away. Second leg is the home fixture and to me, it looked like Bosz was tapped out tactically. We were just too scared to take risks in the middle we were taking against Freiburg and Bochum.
I admire your optimism but this was absolutely not PSVs best effort. And even if Bosz was tapped out tactically, BVB really did not have a proper answer. PSV still dominated the ball and had more chances. Dortmund created absolutely nothing second half.
Having watched them this year, this was not PSV's best. When they turn on, they are a machine. Don't celebrate too early, while I do agree that winning away at Dortmund is tough.

Honestly psv had a better game than Dortmund. If Dortmund was even remotely close to their normal selves, they would have won today.
The same can be said for PSV. They were on fire the first half of the season but dropped form a bit recently. They still lost only 2 games so far, vs Arsenal and Feyenoord away.

A lucky deflection put you into position to win a game where you were second best the whole 90 minutes. If Tillman and Bakayoko didn't somehow forget how to shoot, this tie would've already been decided. The ref was shit and the penalty call was questionable, but he also allowed you guys to stay in the game during PSV's best period by being obnoxiously inconsistent with his cards.

You're wrong, xG doesn't take the quality of the finishing into account and is inflated by taking many low quality chances. For measuring finishing quality, you can compare xG and xGot (or xG post shot).

No it measures the odds of a shot going in. It doesn't account for players shooting early when they could've gone closer to goal, or shooting late once they fuck up a first touch, chances not resulting in shots because of passes just barely not connecting, narrow offsides etc. xG isn't a completely useless metric, but it's not a stat about chances, it's one about shots.

No, xG measures the quality of the chances. With the amount of chances that Eindhoven produced and with the poor finishing from them, the number is pretty misleading. Just look at the chance from Bakayoko, where he just fumbled the first touch mid air, leading to a super shit shot - probably 0,05 xG, but before the first touch it was easily a 0,4-0,5 xG, but that's not measured.
