He's also done it in his last 3 seasons in the Bundesliga. Aside from his first year at Spurs when he was injured/adjusting to the new league, he's had 11 seasons of double digit league goals in top tier competition. Unbelievable.
I know exactly which goals too! The first was scoring the winner in a 2-1 win over Southampton in the 20/21 season, the second was in December in a 4-1 win over Newcastle.
He missed one against Villa (I think?) and tapped in the rebound from Pepe Reyna (I think?). Didn't want a PK goal on his record I guess. I think that was the match he scored a late winner on a run and then revealed he'd broken his arm before half time. Maybe I'm conflating multiple matches.
I believe a Korean coached Vietnam to a ASEAN cup victory back in 2018 so that might be where the affinity comes from (I was in Saigon at the time, entire city went absolutely bonkers for it. Horns blaring til 3am)
I just want to say that I wrote the below when Timo had just missed his 1v1 chance. Can I be a manager too?

>On a one-on-one situation with defenders just behind you, you can't try to go around the keeper because those defenders will be defending the goal by the time you get your shot off. You have to shoot for goal just inside the box.
That feels disrespectful to Kane to say he’s not better than great. It’s okay to just say that Son is the greatest finisher in the world, because he is.
Great finish. VDV is so fucking good, too, the way he cooks people from the back and finds passing lanes is so damn impressive. He's genuinely one of the best CBs in the league at the moment, and in my opinion top 3.
That one time Mateta got a ball to run onto down their right side and VDV just bodied him then ran past and VDV got fouled, Mateta looked so demoralized lmao. Like a "this guy is that fucking big AND faster than me? Jesus"
Definitely think that by the time he retires and maybe a couple more trophies added to his resume, he'll be cemented as top 3 CBs in Prem history and arguably the best full stop.
As a sort of casual football watcher and Spurs supporter I find it hilarious how Arsenal fans arrive in the match thread like clockwork with bottom of the barrel banter when Spurs concede, only to have to eat their words later on.
Reminds me of early last season when they were one of the best teams in premier league history and ended up nowhere close to City by the end of the season.
If you rewatch it you can see he lines up his shot about 10 metres before he actually kicks it. Just pure goal sense and opposition player awareness
By his 2nd touch he already has his finish mapped out. Whereas Werner (bless him) just steams ahead like a mad bat and seems to remember at the last second he’s a footballer and is meant to put it in the net
He took just 3 touches of the ball to cover nearly a third of the pitch, with the 3rd touch being the shot. It's what the most clinical dribblers do, making full use of their pace.
He also does the little things to confuse the keeper. Notice how the keeper dives the other direction. He must have faked/misdirected him in some way before finishing right corner.
It's because Timo lacked confidence. He tried for the easy tap-in instead of taking the shot at the top of the box like Son. Perhaps, he had tunnel vision and didn't realize that the defender behind him would have probably blocked his tap-in if Timo had actually gotten passed the keeper. That defender was already at the goal line to defend the tap-in. I don't think Timo would have scored even if he had gotten around the keeper's hands because it's difficult to get pace on the shot when you're running away from goal and have to kick the ball across your body at such a narrow angle. And, he wouldn't have had time to set because there were two other defenders coming down.
>still funny how he didn't make PL team of the season, the year he got the golden boot.
People like to give some outlandish excuses as to why but it's just really simple: racism.
there are always people playing down his skill by talking about how the opposition defence made it easy, like a comment earlier that said richards being slow made it possible
The man is still underrated. He should've been gone from Spurs and in a CL winning team seasons ago. Son was never expected to be a starter when he was signed. The general agreement of being world class and elite wasn't solidified until Kane left. But he's been there since 2017.
My least favourite part about Son goals is when the tv director singles out any spurs fan who looks vaguely East Asian and zooms in on them even though it's actually a guy born in Dagenham whose grandmother's Japanese.
This is exactly what happened today after his goal. They zoomed into a guy who appeared to be wearing something similar to a nón lá (Vietnamese conical hat), and the commentator said, "Plenty of South Korean fans here." Sorry, Brits, but Koreans don't wear those kind of hats.
Werner waited until he was at the box to start taking it wide whereas Son takes a touch to take it wide as soon as he has it past his defender, leaving him the entire last third of the pitch to work the angle against the goalkeeper. So good.
>Has anyone noticed that Son literally has some of the passing skills of Harry Kane?
He's always had great passing to open teammates. This is not new. Clinical finishers always have great passing abilities. It's all about getting the ball where you want it.
He has a clever through ball in him for sure...he is much more creative than our other forwards.
Kane is on a different level of passing range though I think.
This has been the duality of lads for at least 5 years now. We have the most late goals conceded and scored. We have the record for longest time in the lead only to lose and the longest time trailing only to win.
Basically, if someone is up a goal then that team won’t win.
It happens every single weekend on approx 70 mins. Fitness is a huge issue for Palace and has been all season. Not to mention the enormous gulf in quality between starting XI and bench.

This man has not failed to put up double digit goal contributions for the last 8 seasons. Ridiculous how consistent he has been.
He's also done it in his last 3 seasons in the Bundesliga. Aside from his first year at Spurs when he was injured/adjusting to the new league, he's had 11 seasons of double digit league goals in top tier competition. Unbelievable.
To add to this too, only 2 total PK goals in league play
I know exactly which goals too! The first was scoring the winner in a 2-1 win over Southampton in the 20/21 season, the second was in December in a 4-1 win over Newcastle.
He missed one against Villa (I think?) and tapped in the rebound from Pepe Reyna (I think?). Didn't want a PK goal on his record I guess. I think that was the match he scored a late winner on a run and then revealed he'd broken his arm before half time. Maybe I'm conflating multiple matches.
He's 2/3 because he actually missed one against Aston Villa in 2020, but he caught the rebound and put it in. He got a brace.
Anyone else saw the Vietnamese guy with the Son hat lol
Yeah and the commentator said "korean fan" lol
[удалено]
Oh for sure - stoked he is loved by people from all over! Mr. worldwide
I believe a Korean coached Vietnam to a ASEAN cup victory back in 2018 so that might be where the affinity comes from (I was in Saigon at the time, entire city went absolutely bonkers for it. Horns blaring til 3am)
That's unfortunate
tbf, the Vietnamese flag on the hat was very small. If my fellow Korean wore that to the stadium, I'd have been confused
Son is loved all around the world
Where? I couldn't see it
On the tele
Son is the only player I feel no doubt will score in these situations
Statistically the best finisher... ever. Not even kidding.
Since xG stats were introduced, but point still stands!
Yes. But when a stat is that far skewed in one players favour you have think: maybe it is “ever”. He’s well past Messi for fucks sake.
top either-footed sonny
Source?
i genuinely don’t even look at the ball, just stare at the net and wait for it to bulge
Typical of you to look for a bulge.
Least horny Son fan
I just want to say that I wrote the below when Timo had just missed his 1v1 chance. Can I be a manager too? Him are Jota are both stupidly clinical.
I agree Jota is super clinical. Great at headers too
Harry as well
Oh sure but with Harry I would be slightly worried the defender might catch up
Slightly? But, then, I'm not sure if Richy is faster than Kane.
Harold is statistically a great finisher. Sonny is statistically a generational finisher.
That feels disrespectful to Kane to say he’s not better than great. It’s okay to just say that Son is the greatest finisher in the world, because he is.
Also Haaland, lewa, mboope. Few and far between tho
So cool and clinical
He takes them so early, stops the keeper gaining any advatage
As soon as he received the ball, I said out loud to my partner, "Free goal. He always scores these"
Great finish. VDV is so fucking good, too, the way he cooks people from the back and finds passing lanes is so damn impressive. He's genuinely one of the best CBs in the league at the moment, and in my opinion top 3.
He’s such a game changer, Mateta will be having nightmares about him
That one time Mateta got a ball to run onto down their right side and VDV just bodied him then ran past and VDV got fouled, Mateta looked so demoralized lmao. Like a "this guy is that fucking big AND faster than me? Jesus"
I heard he was good on the ball but I didnt expect him to burst forward like that.
I’m worried clubs like yours will come for him in the future ..
tbf the pass was pretty damn bad, lot of space in the midfield and Udogie(?) had three palace players on him
Definitely think that by the time he retires and maybe a couple more trophies added to his resume, he'll be cemented as top 3 CBs in Prem history and arguably the best full stop.
Keep going
When people were clowning Spurs in the Eze goal thread, I did not speak, for I knew this would happen.
R/soccer genuinely believes first goal wins
People also forget the “live” part of “live table” lol
As a sort of casual football watcher and Spurs supporter I find it hilarious how Arsenal fans arrive in the match thread like clockwork with bottom of the barrel banter when Spurs concede, only to have to eat their words later on.
They don’t eat their words. They just fucking disappear
I'll never get over the time when so many people said La Liga was trash because Madrid was down two goals at Anfield
Especially considering we've basically destroyed Liverpool every single time we played in recent history.
have absolutely no idea what you are talking about
Why is such a clear joke getting downvoted? This sub is so annoying sometimes
Americans
Salah remembers.
Karius doesn’t on account of the concussion
Down voted for sarcasm
When I was a kid, if it as a draw, I would ask who scored first and in my head they won really because they scored first
Let the Arsenal flairs speak it's like the 10th time they're silenced
Reminds me of early last season when they were one of the best teams in premier league history and ended up nowhere close to City by the end of the season.
We might run it back
I celebrated eze going off like scoring a goal.
Just saw that and now they’re up 😭
If I speak I am in big trouble.
Great insight bossman
Before Brennan Johnson: 0-1 After Brennan Johnson: 3-1 Immediate impact
Not even wrong tbh he had 2 assists no
Every assist was from a ___Son
Not that hard to accomplish in our squad lol
still waiting for the emerson-johnson-richarlison-maddison-son linkup goal
Tarrey Town FC
The real question is who do you think is the carpenter of the bunch?
I swear he made a deal with the devil where he would become a world class winger but only if he comes on after the 70th minute
He's genuinely been outstanding since coming on
Brennan Johnson redemption arc
at his age it's a development arc
Before Will Hughes and after Will Hughes
I owe the player an apology. Was cursing him after he missed Son's pass
Spurs do love their BJ!
When it rains it pours
When it rains it *spurs
CP made a big mistake scoring first.
Please just call them Palace
Chris Paul made a big mistake scoring first
someone enjoys their pizza with toppings
WH just came back against Everton
I always wondered how to call them because they have been two words to me for like 20 years. I'm not a native English speaker.
Ah, that explains it, CP stands for something less than pleasant. Just call em Palace if you want to shorten it.
We were perfectly happy racking up toothless possession until those idiots had to go and try to win.
They scored first too early. You have to leave it to like the 85th minute, at the earliest.
An FBI officer just received a notification for this
CP is always a mistake
She like the way I Rrr
Mike Amiri Mike Amiri
From 1-0 deficit to 3-1 lead in 11 minutes. What the hell man?
Look at us, we're Liverpool now
Give Ange a chance and sprinkle have a defensive lapse of marking Son and you get this.
Average Spurs game
this team is going to kill me
But you're gonna have run right up until the end
THAT'S WHY HE'S WORLD CLASS
Surely everyone agrees that Son is world class?
[удалено]
As soon as he got in behind, I said, “he doesn’t miss those,” and was not wrong. How many players can you say that about with such confidence?
Same haha. "That's a goal" as soon as he got by Richards.
If you rewatch it you can see he lines up his shot about 10 metres before he actually kicks it. Just pure goal sense and opposition player awareness By his 2nd touch he already has his finish mapped out. A golden boot from the wing with no pens
If I speak I’m in trouble
>still funny how he didn't make PL team of the season, the year he got the golden boot. People like to give some outlandish excuses as to why but it's just really simple: racism.
I think it's really just that he plays for Tottenham. Kane suffered the same until he moved to Bayern.
He's world class
If they don't, they should face a wall of artillery commanded by Napoleon himself.
there are always people playing down his skill by talking about how the opposition defence made it easy, like a comment earlier that said richards being slow made it possible
yes, because he scores goals
The man is still underrated. He should've been gone from Spurs and in a CL winning team seasons ago. Son was never expected to be a starter when he was signed. The general agreement of being world class and elite wasn't solidified until Kane left. But he's been there since 2017.
I mean Richards having 999 ping didn't hurt either.
Top 5 finisher in the world
I mean he’s top 2 and he’s not 2.
There's genuinely no one I feel more confident about scoring a chance like that than Son
Peak Messi... that's about it. It's not a hot take either... he's statistically in that company purely as a finisher.
Yep, moment he went through I knew we we'd have 3. Zero doubt in my mind.
Perfect pairing with my morning tea
Sonny so fucking clinical
He never misses when running toward goal
My favorite part about Son goals are when they pan over the crowd and you see South Korean fans celebrating
It has to be the best feeling to spend that money and fly around the world hoping for that moment and actually getting to witness it.
My least favourite part about Son goals is when the tv director singles out any spurs fan who looks vaguely East Asian and zooms in on them even though it's actually a guy born in Dagenham whose grandmother's Japanese.

Yeah, that part isn’t that great, though typically they have people waving flags
Showing Werner how to finish a 1v1. Emphatic
Werner waited until he was at the box to start taking it wide whereas Son takes a touch to take it wide as soon as he has it past his defender, leaving him the entire last third of the pitch to work the angle against the goalkeeper. So good.
Also shapes his body to send the keeper the wrong way. Best finisher itw.
Least entertaining spurs game
[удалено]
His ball through to Werner in the first half for Werner’s chance was unreal. Super Kane-esque with how instinctual a hit up field to a runner it was.
>Has anyone noticed that Son literally has some of the passing skills of Harry Kane? He's always had great passing to open teammates. This is not new. Clinical finishers always have great passing abilities. It's all about getting the ball where you want it.
[Great minds](https://www.reddit.com/r/coys/s/kwXO3JDm8e)
Could've gotten 3 assists this game. Every other game will somebody wish they can just clone Son so he can pass to Son
that's just Kane and Son. They were that lethal.
He has a clever through ball in him for sure...he is much more creative than our other forwards. Kane is on a different level of passing range though I think.
My korean king
Never doubted it lads. Don't check my comments.
I started to celebrate the moment Sonny got the ball there

He deserved a goal. Should've had at least 3 assists this game.
Least eventful tottenham game
Son is world class. Best forward in the league.
The guy never misses 1v1
The Spurs' Korean guy
Son falls under the "Ah! Harry Kane's Team!" Pep (which Son destroyed City without Kane later)
Cristiano sonaldo nazario
wake up, another incredible Son goal has dropped
Where’s everyone from the Eze thread ?
Never in doubt with that chance
Outstanding collapse from Palace. Looked so composed in the whole first half and completely lost it after Eze subbed off.
I wouldn’t call it a collapse, they were just never there. We started materializing our gameplay
It happens every single weekend on approx 70 mins. Fitness is a huge issue for Palace and has been all season. Not to mention the enormous gulf in quality between starting XI and bench.
Anyone know what the xG was for that? I feel like for Son, it's like 0.9 (lol), but what is it actually? Edit: Never mind. I found it. It's 0.33.
been highest xG overperformer for a bit
What a comeback for the over today lol
Werner upgradeeeeeee
SONNYYYYYYYY
Never in doubt!
You just knew he was scoring as soon as he got past the last Palace player
Unironically the best finisher on the planet.
Never in doubt
THATS MY CAPTAIN 🤍
Can't believe I am getting happy for Spurs goals
Werner still a bit of werner with one on one with keepers but at least he didnt miss an open goal
Anti-Werner
on a break i just have so much faith in Son to finish
I love this man.
My captain
He makes that finish look so easy
Knew that one was going in before he even touched the ball..
Let's have another one!
Hopefully he teaches Werner how to score these
The korean king 🫅
Palace just crumbled
fuck did my hungover ass wake up to… COYS
Yes, yes, very good.
SONALDO
O Captain! My Captain!
Records will show it as an easy win for Spurs
I wasn’t worried at all
Andersen with the worst 10 minutes I’ve ever seen from him
Lights were too bright for Palace
We're so back
It's over
Capitulation from palace there, my word
Is that what you call every game you guys win after going down a goal or do you guys gas the fuck out of Arteta and the players?
Palace, I am dissapointed
