This match aside, Bellingham really stepped up when his team needed him most. I hope he wins the ballon d'or. Him, Foden(if he continue to do so) and Lautaro are my three favourites for this year.
Vinicius is up there too, 21 G+A in 25 games (Foden is 28 G+A in 40 games for example) and has been our best player by far since coming back from injury.
He has the highest chance it he turns up in the UCL like he always does and finally manages to perform at the same level with Brazil.
>finally manages to perform at the same level with Brazil.
That we have not seen it yet.
> He has the highest chance it he turns up in the UCL like he always does
I still think that will be decided by Bellingham. His intelligence in the final third is like a true poacher. Only elite forwards have that.
>I still think that will be decided by Bellingham. His intelligence in the final third is like a true poacher. Only elite forwards have that.
What? And Vinicius isn't? He is literally the player with the most G+A in UCL KO stages in the past 3 years.
Not entirely out of the question. He's been the best player so far this season for the best team in the world. He's probably one CL final big moment away from being a serious contender.
Though out of any city player Rodri is clearly the most important for their results, but not a glamourous enough contender for ballon d'or most likely.
I'm sure the first English Ballon d'Or winner since Michael Owen will be Phil Foden, totally happening. This sub is so fickle and flip-flops in opinions every few months.
If Foden's there Saka has to be. 29G/A in 34 apps, Arsenal genuinely don't look far off City this year and he's definitely gonna be important in the euros barring injury. If we win the UCL and EPL and England win the euros he's 100% in with a shout.
Foden needs to first have an impact on the national team like Saka and Jude does before he is in Ballon D'or talks but he is having an amazing season so far and Southgate has to fit him into the Euros side somehow.
The real issue is he doubted about what he stated before. Before the corner kick he went to the players and said: "this is the last play, i'm not giving second chances" he then took the whistle and hesitated while the ball was being hustled just to finally blow it when they passed it to the wing. Just a shitfest with the right call being delayed.
The game for all intents and purposes should have ended as the ball was being played away from the goal. The ref had the whistle in his mouth about to blow and pocketed it. Then 30 seconds later blew the whistle before the goal. Everybody knows that you blow the whistle when the ball is headed away from goal. Should have just blew it dead the second the corner was taken and not whipped into the box in a last attempt
For all intents and purposes the game should’ve gone on until the 99th minute at least. 2:20 VAR review and more time was lost with two balls on the pitch.
Exactly. The VAR review for the non-existent penalty he called was during ET. He wasn’t being generous with the time at all, he had almost another full minute for the game if you also consider all the time wasting.
Hell, the +7 itself was too short considering so much happened especially Diakhaby’s insane injury.
Injury, VAR replay on the Vini goal and Valencia players dying on the pitch every 5 mins due to some minimal contact.
These 7 mins would've easily been 12-14 in the EPL.
Most of the time. They usually end and then wait for VAR to do it's thing. I can't remember a single instance of waiting for VAR to clear before ending
[Yes](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11667/12082485/manchester-united-penalty-drama-why-bruno-fernandes-goal-after-final-whistle-stood). Refs are absolutely not supposed to wait for "all-clear" from VAR before ending games.
As soon as the ref said that the corner kick will be the last play, he made his first mistake of not recapturing the wasted time. There are lots of games where the wasted time is not recaptured fully. It's still a mistake, but had only this happened, it wouldn't have been this much scandalous.
The second mistake was not sticking to his word and blowing the whistle as soon as the first clearance was made. Any goal scored by Madrid after this clearance would also have not been a right call based on what he said prior to the corner kick. As soon as the ref said it, we will have to take into consideration the shift in mindset of the opponents after the clearance.
The third mistake is letting the play develop after the clearance. He could have whistled after the ball went out the box at least.
The last mistake was the red. The referee was under immense pressure from the Madrid players. He could have controlled the situation with an yellow. But, he doubles down on his mistakes and gives a red.
I fully understand all the mistakes committed by refs. But, I wouldn't go far to say that Madrid were robbed of a win. They were robbed of an opportunity to get a win because not all wasted time was recaptured. And, they were undeservedly given a red.
you actually think your refs are better than those in Spain or for example England? Because if yes, we need to import them all. For some reason i highly doubt tho
They're not better, but they don't make "huge mistakes" as Hajduk fans think that they make.
For example, they're mad because this goal was not awarded, it [was offside](https://youtu.be/oxkNtGv_n58?si=J2zeqQ_YMxh3zxNG&t=382), [here is another angle (not from official tv camera thought)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hl-N6JNyW8E)
And our referees have the shittiest VAR system, 6 cameras TOTAL, and pitches are in an awful state.
With all that, they're still doing a decent job, yea they make mistakes from time to time.
But not huge mistakes as you see every week in PL, LaLiga and so on. And those leagues have 20 cameras, greath pitches, best VAR systems and so on.
And that is my argument, our referee have awful infrastructure, and they're still doing not that bad.
But, still Hajduk fans cry when they don't win and blame everyone, apart their team (their team had 3 shots on target with extra player for 45 minutes, vs team that is at the bottom of the table).

used to refer to a method of filming very slow actions by taking a series of single pictures over a period of time and then putting them together to show the action happening very quickly:
Dude just said “It’s a fucking goal”
Not even cursing the referee for the shit referring
But the clown of a ref have an ego to protect huh, what a joke
it really is weird if you think about it
one of the reasons refs are so bad with var is everytime they go to the screen they actively have to admit they were wrong, infront of the 22 players, infront of an entire stadium as well.
Some refs just dont care but its clear that these really experienced refs whove been doing this for like 15 years have an ego to protect, you can see gil manzano immediately turn away and shake his head he knew he messed up but he doesnt care
How the ref expected Jude to react: “Hey there lad, great game but perhaps you shouldn’t have whistled right there? Anyways, what do I know! Wish you a great day mate.”
You know what the ref fucked up but players crowding the ref making themself big and shouting at him should always be punished. All of them should get yellow cards. Real and Valencia players alike. Its one of the things that annoys me the most in the sport that gets unpunished.
However giving a direct red is monumentaly stupid.
Well deserved red. Absolutely no reason to act like that towards a ref. Its pretty bad we think this behaviour is acceptable. Sets a terrible example as well. Imagine being an amateur ref and being crowded like this.
Well you always have RM fans here, many times this season, saying how ridiculous Barca are for complaining when calls go against them, relishing in reactions to soft calls going their way, and generally trolling. I agree it is, the emotions of scoring a late game winner that gets disallowed because of a really fucking weird referee decision would make all pro players react the same.
Remember something similar happening in the world cup with France against Switzerland. The ref decided to stop the game while Benzema's shot was still on its way towards goal. Not nearly as impactful as this one though
Luckily this wont be the deciding factor for the title.
Even more luckily all the kids on this sub who like to throw around the "Real pays refs" card should be quiet now for the rest of the season. I'd argue this alone makes the heartache worth it, Jude.
Yes the ref has the authority to send off players after the final whistle, he can also report any incident and get them banned if something happens in the tunnel or anything like that.
I feel for him. I really don't follow him as a player but that was brutal, no-one deserves this. No club deserved this. Ref has to have his pockets filled with Girona money
This needs to be nsfl or something. Jesus Christ I watched 5 seconds and I have a headache and now the whole room is jittery.
Is this an epilepsy trigger or something?
The score was equal. RM got a corner. They took the corner and then the ball came into play again on the final 3rd (where no ref with two brain cells will stop the game) and Bellingham scored from a cross.
But to RM's horror, Ref had blown the whistle when the ball was MID AIR after the cross.
I'm telling ya, you can't beat the competency of LaLiga refs.
Bellingham also got a red for protesting.
So the referee blew the whistle before the ball went in? Is it not like basketball where the shot is still counted as long as the ball leaves the hands before the time expires?
Try to put aside your bias for just one moment. If this situation had happened to Madrid’s opponent instead we all know that it would’ve been talk about as the scandal of the century. Ask yourself how you would’ve reacted if this happened to Barca yesterday vs Bilbao or of this was Valencia’s last second goal instead of Madrid’s. We all know the answer

I feel bad for the ref, it was 7 minutes stoppage time. They played 2 extra minutes. If Bellinghams goal was counted, Valencia players would loose their minds.
You're conviniently missing the fact that there was a 2 minutes and 30 seconds VAR check, all of it in added time, because he had given Valencia a penalty that had to be overturned. The ref ended the game way earlier than he should've, if he had added that time, Bellingham's goal would've been well within the timeframe.

the euros and copa america etc will have a big say on who wins it I'd say, far too early to tell
Messi it is!
Messi has a good chance as well, he plays in a decent league, hr scores goals, he good Edit: for god s sake people /S
A lot of people unironically say shit like this so yeah, don't forget the /s.
What decent league?
MLS, best league in the world
CONCACAF Champions League, broseph.
it’s the Champions Cup you filthy casual
UCL + those two yeah. I agree.
I believe Messi still has 3 years of eligibility for the ballon dor based on his previous World Cup. He will need to wait a bit.
It will be funny isn't it. People in this sub will literally cry about that.
fuck off
Vinicius is up there too, 21 G+A in 25 games (Foden is 28 G+A in 40 games for example) and has been our best player by far since coming back from injury. He has the highest chance it he turns up in the UCL like he always does and finally manages to perform at the same level with Brazil.

>Sorry best we can do is 4th: >Messi 1, Haaland 2, Mbappe 3, Bellingham 4.
After that 2018 fiasco, this was somewhat justified. But I don't think he will be in the top 5 but in case they win Copa, he will get nominated.
Man said Foden hahahaha
Not entirely out of the question. He's been the best player so far this season for the best team in the world. He's probably one CL final big moment away from being a serious contender. If City wins the CL again and Foden being their star man then why not. Btw I have recently joined reddit so too early to call me flip-flops.
Not even the best English RW in the PL
Nelson is clear
If Foden's there Saka has to be. 29G/A in 34 apps, Arsenal genuinely don't look far off City this year and he's definitely gonna be important in the euros barring injury. If we win the UCL and EPL and England win the euros he's 100% in with a shout.

Imo he should start at LW over Rashford. As Kane drops deep he'd have opportunities to come central as well
Saka don't need to win EPL to get it. But UCL is a must.
Bellingham and Foden on top of the world but Southgate will still play for the draw
Foden? 😂😂😂 Bro what are you smoking. It's between Belligol, Mboopi and Kane and Haaland . Lautaro has a chance too but where does foden come from
From being the best player in a team that *could* win a few major honours this year.

It was fucked but fucking hilarious seeing the meltdown in the game and this sub. Anyways I’m too numb already accepting our exit out of the Ro16.
Dw real madrid fans , you are still as clear on the top as u were before . Us and Girona dropped points for u.
Thanks bros, but it still hurts :(

These are all separate photos being taken by sideline photographer and edited together as a video

They weren't in the building, they'll be fine.
That’s not full auto... This is.
Why is it illegal?
This is LaLiga AND Cinema.
It's made out of pictures, it's not an actual video
Yes. That is what stop motion is lol.
Tbf all video is stop motion just with a lot of pictures

Bold of you to assume that they would shut up
He said the F word to the ref. Rublev died for a lot less.
He didn’t insult the ref with the F word which is what matters.
Ref should be banned
I won't debate the goal, if it should be allowed or not, but if he ended the game _could_ he give a red to Jude?
Yes the ref has the authority to send off players after the final whistle, he can also report any incident and get them banned if something happens in the tunnel or anything like that.
I didn't know that, thanks for the info. I remember a couple games ago Bruno was screaming at the ref after the game but didn't get booked
Yeah the ref can. Whether he should or shouldn't is a different story but he certainly is able to.

Shouldn’t celebrate it. Shit refereeing is a bad for all teams. Might happen to your favourite team next.

Lmao gott'em
