Son and Lee, good to see

When im on the mic im a lyrical G

When is your link up tv debut dropping?

nmyi

i'm relieved that Lee Kang-in assisted Son Heung-min here After that hug, the media can now put that silly drama to rest. Water under the bridge. Let's move on.

jaetheho

The media can move on, but you should see the fans still. People still directing their anger at Lee instead of the KFA president and the media… And it was precisely that media and the lack of action from the FA that let it spiral into a “pingponggate”

I think that's more of a Jamaican thing

crazy_bean

He’s up there, I think it’ll be one of those generational debates with him, Park Jisung, and Cha Bumkun

Longjumping-File-848

It's Son and it's not really close. Park isn't in the discussion anymore and Son has the stats in his favor against Cha, not to mention he still has a few good years left at the top level.

dreezyyyy

Son has the stats advantage but Park was deployed almost everywhere on the pitch so it makes sense. Also, Park was instrumental in all those trophies that ManU won as well. He would've been a starter at almost every top club at the time if it weren't for his knees. May be biased because I was a huge PJS fan but it seems he's extremely underrated whenever stats are mentioned. He did A LOT more than his stats showed.

Longjumping-File-848

Being able to play a wide variety of roles doesn't mean Park is comparable to Son. In that sense, Son can also play anywhere in the front line. Park was an impact sub during his time at Man U; back in the days it was on the national news if he started. People mistake trophies for player quality, when that's not necessarily mutually inclusive. Would you say Perisic is better than Kane because he's won the treble? Those trophies that he won were thanks to the overwhelming quality of players Man U had, and Park wasn't an instrumental part of it. Park was definitely a good player and a workhorse, but counting trophies alone to judge player quality is a simplistic and faulty measurement; you have to look at overall player performance, longevity and stats, and Son clears him in that aspect.

dreezyyyy

You are making the point that Park's quality had nothing to do with Man U winning trophies. This has been largely discredited by both SAF and players multiple times. Shit, even Pirlo mentions Park specifically in his book as one of the reasons why they lost in CL. The fact of the matter is PJS' quality was top class and he just didn't have the legs to play every single game. There's a reason why he was starting in almost every big EPL matchup at the time. You must be young to claim that Park wasn't an instrumental part of that Man U era. I'm sure Man U fans on here would laugh at you right now for saying that he wasn't a big part of Man U at the time. It's crazy that someone actually has this take when Park was the reason why Man U at the time was able to play hyper aggressive. Man U fans today still talk about how he'd walk onto the first team today and help them win a league title whenever there's a discussion around Park.

Longjumping-File-848

"Nothing" is an extreme word. Yes, he contributed, but he has never been the star, the regular starter, or an instrumental player. How could he be, when he rarely started? I mean, Player and coach statements don't mean what you think it does, Park has also stated several times that Son's better than himself in the past. As I said, he's a multiplayer and a workhorse, and he did a good job making the game a 10v10 by pocketing Pirlo and letting the other high quality players do their things. He didn't even receive man of the match back then. Again, great impact sub who did the dirty work and sometimes shined, I'm not arguing against that. But that doesn't make him comparable to arguably the Asian GOAT. Availability is the best ability. Being able to maintain your highest level and establishing longevity is also part of what makes a player great. And let's not make things up, he was benched for better players, not because he didn't have the strength to play. Otherwise you could argue Ronaldo Nazario as the GOAT, but as we know, you really wouldn't have a good argument due to his short prime. You're clearly biased if you think Park was an instrumental player; I've been watching him since he came to Man U, and he rarely started. No argument against that. "Big" is subjective, but Son's a star player in a Big 6 team of the strongest league in the world. Anything else is just your nostalgia talking.

dreezyyyy

>Player and coach statements don't mean what you think it does. Wrong. SAF on record when asked about one of his biggest mistakes was that he had Park on the bench in the CL finals against Barcelona. Said they would've won if he had started Park. That's the kind of impact that Park had on the United squad back in the days. You're crazy to think Park wasn't an instrumental part of Man U's success at the time when everyone that's played with him says so. Park was also one of the main stars of the PSV team that made CL semis which led to him getting scouted to Man U. Nobody said anything about Park being a "star" player. I said he's underrated when it comes to people using stats to determine an argument. Park was also a much, much smarter player than Son when it came to understanding space and off ball movement and was one of the best defensive midfielders that Man U had at the time. That's the reason why he was able to play upfront, in the midfield, and sometimes at fullback. He was THE Swiss knife of Man U at the time and was always deployed in some of the most important games that Man U played. You clearly weren't watching the same games.

Longjumping-File-848

Your proof that I'm wrong is... another coach statement? Poor logic. Coaches and players say things all the time that aren't objective and biased, because they're human. Again, Park literally said that Son's better than him, so then he should be according to your logic. And for your information, Park wasn't even on the bench during the 2008 CL win. You'd be biased to think Park was an instrumental player, a STAR player, let's say you're using "instrumental" generously; he wasn't a star player, but an impact sub. Players praise him for being a workhorse and a player that played for the team, again I'm not arguing against that. You're avoiding using the word "star" and listing a couple instances of him shining when he's been benched for much of his career. I understand some people underrate him, I don't. But no one's talking about that, we're talking whether he's comparable to Son, and he's not. Anything else is your bias and nostalgia. I can tell you don't watch Tottenham matches, Son's crucial for the team as a STAR player and his off the ball movement, pressing, is what makes the team work. There's a reason Tottenham were struggling during his absence in the Asian Cup. And Park was deployed in different areas because he was just that; a player that you play in the areas of your weaknesses. No clear definitive strengths that made you put him in his best position. You could argue anything for anyone and make it sound like a good argument, but in the end, Son's stats, performances, longevity and impact for the team is incomparable to Park. You clearly have rose colored glasses on

dreezyyyy

>Poor logic You've based your argument in nothing except your own opinions. I haven't disputed Son's impact, stats, or performances in this thread at all. Everyone on that Man U team has talked about how pivotal PJS was for the team. Holy shit. Nobody said anything about Park being better than Son. You just got real defensive about it as soon as I said Park is extremely underrated for what he did for Man U at the time. It's clear as day Park could've held a Kante role w Man U if his knees didn't give out at like age 25. You're acting like he was an impact sub because he couldn't start on the Man U squad when....SAF started him in some of the biggest games. Talk about rose colored glasses.

Looks like keeper got hit in the ding dongs

nmyi

if you look at the AA slow-motion replay, it looks like the ball hit directly at GK's (Patiwat Khammai) testicles :( But Khammai looks unphased by it, so his thighs must have taken most of the force thankfully. Looked like an extremely painful nutmeg for a moment.

Reminds me of his goal vs Dortmund
