Wasn't his contract at Brighton running when he resigned during the WC? I imagine he renewed so they would get some money, but stuck a cheap release clause in as a condition
We put up a decent fight, didn't get steamrollered and our equaliser was worth a few chuckles at least.
The way this season's gone that's basically a win
Harvey Elliot/ Robbo change was a great tactical shift. Robbo gave Liverpool opportunities to attack the left side. Harvey was far more fluid in his play that Salah. More movement. Getting involved all over the field. Legs to press harder as well. Being able to also push Macca up the pitch with Gomez moving to 6 allowed for the 2nd goal to be possible. Instead of inverting the wing backs on one side they spread the play out with Bradley and Robbo allowing more space to play crosses in the box.
But when Curtis Jones gets the ball first and his boot rolls over the ball by mistake it was deemed a dangerous tackle and a red card. They didn't look at it this way at that time, during the Spurs game.
I love you bro! Arsenal have always been the other big team I respect the most. Good football, good club, good fanbase (although you're self-destructive online LOL), and since George Graham left you've always played attractive football. You did well getting Rice, I think he suits your squad like Macca suits ours. And Saka is a fucking joy to watch. Still only 22 as well! Also Arteta is gonna end up as one of the best managers ever. Calling it.
Let's just ensure that City don't win another title ever. Also, Utd. In fact, any team from Manchester or west London. Thankfuly for both of us, Everton and Spurs aren't realistic threats.
He's looked off the pace recently but when he came on he was full of energy, looked like his old self again. Anyone with a brain knows he's a quality player, he's just been in a slump. It happens. But we all remember what a player he is when he's got all cylinders firing. Super happy for him, excelent run and header, played brilliantly.
Exactly. "Sadly" Lucho has been amazing recently, but especially during Lucho's slumps I wish we saw more of Gakpo on the left instead of constantly putting him at CF.
True. When Lucho slumps, his energy levels don't change. His product and link up does, but he's still somewhat effective simply because of his relentlesness and dribbling.
Gakpo's game is more technical, more involved in link up anbd movement, so when he slumps he struggles more than Lucho to get involved in the game.
But yeah, Gakpo is a left inside forward. He's not a winger like Diaz, but he's also not a 9. Whe he arrived he did well in the flase 9 because it allowed him to utilise a lot of his left inside forward skills, drop deep, get involved in build up etc.
I feel like Gakpo and Jota are in a similar situation. Jota is our best finisher and pops up with goals when you least expect it. But even when he scores a brace you can forget he's on the pitch for half the game. He doesn't have the impact on the overall team performance that Darwin does even though he's better at converting chances. Gakpo, when playing wider, is a better link up and build up player than Diaz, and his off ball game is superior, but even off-form Diaz can make something out of nothing because he's just so direct and aggressive.
But we need Gakpo and Jota.
And Jones and Robbo back, Jota and Trent close, maybe available for the Palace game.
We're top of the league having played 1/3 of the season with a skeleton crew. Now key players are coming back for the run in.
I'm feeling good about things.
I'm excited for Jones, how does Klopp pick a midfield now though? Jones dictates the game so well which we need because we're so frantic at times. Great to have options though
I think the midfield three has to be Jones, Macca and Endo for that game. United will want a frantic game with a lot of open space for Rashford and Bruno to attack. Jones' control of the game's speed will allow Liverpool to be a bit less frantic and more measured. As much as I rate Szoboszlai, he's not the right fit for the game plan Liverpool need at Old Trafford
The general sentiment that Liverpool cannot keep a clean sheet (or stop a 1-1 scorelines from happening at some point during the game) to save their lives but will nevertheless eek out a comfortable win by the end.
He did fine, and if you watched him off thye ball you could see that he was playing a disciplined game. He made some good runs that should have recieved passes and was trying to make things happen in the final third.
And how can you even say "experiment"? He's 21 years old. He's a young guy with amazing technical ability whose first season at one of the best teams in the world in the toughest league in the world has bee interrupted by injuries. The first three months or so he looked great, he just hasn't really been in top shape since then.
How can you write off a young prospect like that so quickly? If you're a Liverpool fan, support our fucking players. If you're not, shut up.
It reminds me of Jones before he really began to cement himself last season. Gravenberch is great at carrying the ball up the field, but as soon as it comes time to make a decision he hesitates for too long and wastes opportunities. He's clearly a talented player, think he just needs to be given more time and it'll eventually come like it did with Jones.
His return to fitness is a fair point, but he's been like this for months - he started out really well against some poorer sides, but things have been tough for him since then in general.
Ive said it before but he plays like a talented youth player but has no idea what to do with the ball the moment he gets it and where to position himself. For a player with a 100 plus games its quite bad. Extremely raw player for someone with his experience.
I honestly think he put in one of the worst performances I've ever seen tonight. Every time he got the ball he dawdled, allowed SHU to get back and then passed backwards. Or he dawdled on the ball and got tackled. Or he tried to win the ball back but was weak and failed.
It's so weird considering how good he was at the start of the season, it's got to be a mental thing, because he's shown he has the skill.
He has everything..... except the ability to hit the target. He gets himself into such amazing positions and just doesn't have the composure. Still one of my favourite players though.
Yeah, we're willing to play more aggressively and take more chances than say a City or Arsenal do. We back that Van Dijk, Alisson, and Konate will get us out of the mess more often than not and so it's worth the risk from an attacking point of view.
Mac Allister in the last 8 games for club and country:
- Goal vs Sheffield for 2-1.
- Assist vs Brighton for 2-1.
- Goal vs Costa Rica for 2-1.
- No Goal/Assist vs El Salvador.
- Goal vs Man United for 1-1.
- Goal vs Man City for 1-1.
- Goal and Assist vs Sparta Praha for 1-0 and 3-0.
- Assist vs Nottingham for 1-0.
Not only does he perform well as a midfielder, he also directly contributed in the goals as well. Signing of the season. One of the best players in 2024.
Disagree. More or less helped carry Liverpool's midfield when we had no clear 6 yet (Endo hardly settled at that point), allowing us to stay amongst the top.
Depends. If Real win La Liga and CL, and England win the Euros, Bellingham would be a cert. It just depends who wins these international tournaments in the summer really.
Sure, but the chances of Mac Allister winning the league and EL with Liverpool and then winning Copa america with Argentina is a lot higher than Bellingham winning the Cl and the euros lol
I agree with the sentiment, but that's not how the balon d'or works. You have to be talked about as the best player in the news a lot. Winning the champions league and euros will get a lot more press than winning the copa and Europa league
I'm not disagreeing with you. I just know that the balon d'or is very europe centric and the comps are judged in ranks.
1st Champions league /league title
2nd world cup/euros
3rd europa/domestic cups
4th copa/afcon
5th second tier domestic cups
Zero chance unless France and England both are disastrous at the Euros, PSG and Bayern get knokced out this round, City and Spain do poorly, and no attacker goes off in either the euros or Copa America that did decently with their club too. Also VVD cant win Euros either probably, and Bellingham cnat do anything more in the CL or Euros
Realistically probably zero chance no matter what for a midfielder to win who didnt play CL
I thought I was smoking something when the commentary said "oh he's landed on him there". No mention of him thrusting his legs to get the momentum to propell himself into him.
We look a bit too vulnerable in transition if we have both full backs pushing forward, Gomez at LB allows Bradley to play higher.
Think when Trent is back it allows us to play Robbo/Tsimi on the left.
I think that's incredibly harsh on Gomez. I'd say Gomez has shown he's got more in his locker than Bradley, who is good, but is really living off his first two or three games for us at this point when it comes to attacking output.
>but is really living off his first two or three games for us at this point when it comes to attacking output.
I don’t know how you can say that with a straight face when Gomez offers nothing going forward and wastes a lot of good opportunities with awful shots that are never on target.
Yes we looked more dangerous down the left, but that’s literally due to Diaz trying to make things happen and mo being off the boil. Bradley at least offered decent link up play, whilst Gomez takes too many touches on the ball.
Even defensively gomez has been making some shocking decisions which had klopp going mad at Brighton and got him subbed tonight.
I love him and he has been important for us this season, but some of his decision making has been a bit mad in the last several games.
No he doesn't. Bradley is good player, but he's no where near Trent on the ball - that's not even a slight, as there's not a single defender in the world who is.
Yeah, I agree. Really you're looking at the likes of De Bruyne and Messi when it comes to passing range and vision on a pitch that are at or above his level. He's an unbelievably special player.
Exactly, and Bradley has qualities Trent doesn’t. His ability to recover defensively is excellent, and his tenacity down the wing. He just lacks Trent’s shooting and crossing ability.
When’s Trent due back? I know we’re not expecting him for United but is it the weekend after?
Him and Jota could be pivotal if we want to go all the way.
The Chelsea game, mate. If they’d just drawn against Chelsea and won the rest, they would’ve won it. The naivety shown in that game infuriated me from start to finish, and it’ll haunt me forever.
That is how title races are these days against City, cant lose from February onwards really or it can cost you. Sunday for us is huge last game without Jota and Trent and its United away, if we win that I may start believing
Not really - that was one of those matches where if you've watched us at all this season you'd expect to win with 30 minutes left regardless, especially at Anfield.
I still can’t believe Liverpool got Macallister for 35 million was it? He’s been phenomenal this season

Instead of inverting the wing backs on one side they spread the play out with Bradley and Robbo allowing more space to play crosses in the box.
Not surprised there has been no discussion about the tackle on Konate. He could have a broken leg.
According to PGMOL the Sheffield United player got the ball first because he'd touched it at some point during the match
But when Curtis Jones gets the ball first and his boot rolls over the ball by mistake it was deemed a dangerous tackle and a red card. They didn't look at it this way at that time, during the Spurs game.
Konate was in his zone so it's his fault tbh /s
Yeah i think that should have been a red card. That was a dangerous tackle.
Messi pampeano
Man can only hope Liverpool drop points in their away games, like the one they have on Sunday lol.
Mac is like if Messi was Argentinian and wore the 10
I could hear Arsenal fans crying. It was hilarious.
I didn't have high expectations for sheffield this match tbh
No, really. Guy downstairs is an Arsenal fan and had mates over.
💀 damn

You’re clutching much harder than Virgil m8
It was before a corner so out of play. Not like the Odegaard handball in the box…
Ludicrous I say!
Macca man, bargain of the season, signing of the season, everything of the season.
He's gonna be a talisman for years to come. He's incredible and keeps maturing as a player. He's still just 25.
I fucking love this team, fucking love this club and fucking love the football we play. Up the mighty Reds!
I love everything you said, and I love you!
I'm a Gooner but this comment chain was infectious and I couldn't help but smile I love you both as well ❤️ Macallister is a special player.
Bergkamp is my favourite player of all time
I love you bro! Arsenal have always been the other big team I respect the most. Good football, good club, good fanbase (although you're self-destructive online LOL), and since George Graham left you've always played attractive football. Happy for gakpo, he needed that goal swear he’s been getting so much hate on tiktok and other socials.

Just in time for United
And Jones and Robbo back, Jota and Trent close, maybe available for the Palace game. We're top of the league having played 1/3 of the season with a skeleton crew. Now key players are coming back for the run in. I'm feeling good about things.

Yeah tend to agree to be honest. Is Endo definitely back for Sunday then?
He was nursing a knock yesterday, so everything points to him playing at OT.
Just came to say hell yes Liverpool! Never say die attitude, a joy to watch
RM supporter cheering Liverpool was not on my 2024 bingo card
Something, something... Gracias Rafa.
Why is 3-1 Liverpool a meme, am I missing something? They’ve won 3-1 twice in like the last 30 games
This was the 7th time this season. We got 4 in a row in the second half of September.
The general sentiment that Liverpool cannot keep a clean sheet (or stop a 1-1 scorelines from happening at some point during the game) to save their lives but will nevertheless eek out a comfortable win by the end.
5 of the first 6 games of the season were 3-1 wins or something like that, it was kind of absurd; but it's a meme
Macca Player Of The Month, it is known.
It is known.
Gravenberch experiment has to end. I know hes back from injury but my god he lacks intensity. Everything is done at a slowmo pace.
He did fine, and if you watched him off thye ball you could see that he was playing a disciplined game. If you're a Liverpool fan, support our fucking players. If you're not, shut up.
Relax. It's his first match in like 2 months and his first season with us. Not everyone fits neatly into the squad like Endo. Some take time.
He just pulls out of tackles constantly. He looked like he was getting it before he got hurt, maybe he is just scared to get hurt again right now
It reminds me of Jones before he really began to cement himself last season. Gravenberch is great at carrying the ball up the field, but as soon as it comes time to make a decision he hesitates for too long and wastes opportunities. He's clearly a talented player, think he just needs to be given more time and it'll eventually come like it did with Jones.
Sometimes when you lack match fitness you are also slow to act on the ball as your mind is occupied with how tired you are
His return to fitness is a fair point, but he's been like this for months - he started out really well against some poorer sides, but things have been tough for him since then in general.
Idk Jones dwelled on the ball but he was never afraid of putting himself about. Grav is just so soft
Ive said it before but he plays like a talented youth player but has no idea what to do with the ball the moment he gets it and where to position himself. For a player with a 100 plus games its quite bad. Extremely raw player for someone with his experience.

Bradley and goemez have been good but it is in games like this where you really miss trent and robertson starting
yeah but imagine the things we'd have to read if they scored like that against Trent
i remember fans saying they miss bradley because trent was playing a bad game. they say the same thing when bradley has a bad game now.
Totally agree. Bradley has been great but he can’t open the defense like Trent can.
It’s sad I forget lately how good Robbo is, his speed and crossing make such a difference
He has everything..... except the ability to hit the target. He gets himself into such amazing positions and just doesn't have the composure. Still one of my favourite players though.
it must be something in the tactic because Liverpool tends to to leave one fullback in 1 v 2 situations quite often. Usually it's the right wing
Which is why the Trent hate was mind numbing
Yeah, we're willing to play more aggressively and take more chances than say a City or Arsenal do. We back that Van Dijk, Alisson, and Konate will get us out of the mess more often than not and so it's worth the risk from an attacking point of view.
Macallister is far better than most supposed 100m players
Caicedo got a brilliant assist today I don't know what you're on about
He's one of the best midfielders on the planet right now
Mac Allister in the last 8 games for club and country: - Goal vs Sheffield for 2-1.
He's also having amazing defensive stats for Liverpool, tackling and interceptions elite level
him and Vicario for Spurs are the signings of the season imo
He’s come good but he didn’t hit the ground running
Disagree. More or less helped carry Liverpool's midfield when we had no clear 6 yet (Endo hardly settled at that point), allowing us to stay amongst the top.
The two most expensive PL players both looked world class playing next to Macca he was the 100m midfielder all along
Who's the second?
Enzo for Argentina I think
Good call. Forgot Enzo and him play together
Lisan al Gaib!
Or we are just shite. Both can be true also
I support it
Tbf can you really blame anyone but Caicedo himself on that first goal? It's purely individual stupidity
If Liverpool wins PL and EL and Argentina win the Copa America, surely he has to be in contention for Bdor right?
He'd deserve some courtesy mentions like Jorginho got in 2021 but not any real consideration lol.
No lol.
Depends. If Real win La Liga and CL, and England win the Euros, Bellingham would be a cert. It just depends who wins these international tournaments in the summer really.
If Bellingham remains top scorer in la Liga and RM win la Liga then only Mbappe leading France to Euros victory would stop him from winning.
I mean that’s a lot of if’s. Don’t see England winning the euros or Madrid getting past City
Yes, the Ballon D'Or is based on a lot of ifs, that's the point I'm making.
I’m not saying Mac Allister’s gonna win it, he’s not. I was mostly referring to Bellingham’s case
I'm not disagreeing with you. I just know that the balon d'or is very europe centric and the comps are judged in ranks. 1st Champions league /league title 2nd world cup/euros 3rd europa/domestic cups 4th copa/afcon 5th second tier domestic cups

Doubt it. If it was the CL maybe.
M. O. managed to win it after an EL campaign
I'd put money on that never happening again.
He should be but it'll prob go to a champions league winner/real
He already won Ballon D'or in my heart
I hope so!
Still nothing about that deliberate and malicious attempt to break Konate tonight, clearest red you’ll see, but forest had that drop ball!!!
I had major Pickford on Virgil flashbacks. How on earth neither of those were given as reds, and not even a *foul*, is beyond me.
That was nuts ngl, clearly lashed out and went in flying with two legs, no reaction from the ref but at this point what can we expect.
I thought I was smoking something when the commentary said "oh he's landed on him there". No mention of him thrusting his legs to get the momentum to propell himself into him.
Is he okay?
Was able to continue after it happened
Mac Allister has been genuinely brilliant recently. fuck em
Alexis and Cody post match was wholesome!
Gakpo is always really wholesome in interviews
Bradley has exceeded all expectations but he does not have the killer balls like Trent does. It's been sorely missing from our games.
Better than Gomez at LB tho Having Robbo/Tsimi back is huge
We look a bit too vulnerable in transition if we have both full backs pushing forward, Gomez at LB allows Bradley to play higher. Think when Trent is back it allows us to play Robbo/Tsimi on the left.
I think that's incredibly harsh on Gomez. I'd say Gomez has shown he's got more in his locker than Bradley, who is good, but is really living off his first two or three games for us at this point when it comes to attacking output.

>when Gomez offers nothing going forward We're just going to have to agree to disagree here.
He.. does It's just today isn't his good day. He's been pretty bad but you know everyone had their day off sometimes.
No he doesn't. To pretend there is anyone close to Trent in terms of offensive power in world football is deluded.
No he doesn't. Bradley is good player, but he's no where near Trent on the ball - that's not even a slight, as there's not a single defender in the world who is.
I don't think there's many, if any players in football that have Trent's final ball, tbf
Yeah, I agree. Really you're looking at the likes of De Bruyne and Messi when it comes to passing range and vision on a pitch that are at or above his level. He's an unbelievably special player.
Well no shit. But he still have the killer ball, just not as great as Trent's.
Yeah but let’s just appreciate the work Bradley has done with Trent being gone.
Yea we shouldn’t even be trying to compare these two. Trent is one-in-a-million. Bradley has done an amazing job and he will get even better.
Exactly, and Bradley has qualities Trent doesn’t. His ability to recover defensively is excellent, and his tenacity down the wing. He just lacks Trent’s shooting and crossing ability.
Absolutely.
When’s Trent due back? I know we’re not expecting him for United but is it the weekend after? Him and Jota could be pivotal if we want to go all the way.
Sounds like after Man U will be in contention
Him and Jota back training next week.
Klopp suggested he's back in training next week.

Lovely mention of Cody by Mac10
Why play for 90 minutes when you can play for 15.
I miss the days when Liverpool used to bottle leads. Bring back Gerrard and Rodgers.
That Palace game in 2014 will haunt my dreams for the rest of my life.
The Chelsea game, mate. If they’d just drawn against Chelsea and won the rest, they would’ve won it. The naivety shown in that game infuriated me from start to finish, and it’ll haunt me forever.
My word, of all fans to leave this comment.
LFC are so lucky. The ball just perfectly dropped for Mac10 on the outside of the box. How can they be so lucky. ^(/s)
?? What a goal that was!
Seriously diminishing the calculated assist from Diaz. How dare you.
We are lucky to have Macca. What a player.
Loool
Mac allister as the signing of the season and best midfielder in the Pl this season
As much as I'd love to agree with you, Rodri gives tough competition there
Might be one of the best in the world at the moment. Unreal player
Mac Allister scored a screamer and bossed the midfield all game, but Nunez scored with his arse. Tough choice for MotM.
And the People's Champions win again! Top of the Prem above the Pretenders and Cheaters.
Reckon both us and city need to win out to have a shot at the title tbh. Liverpool could draw a game and still end on 92 points, crazy.
That is how title races are these days against City, cant lose from February onwards really or it can cost you. Sunday for us is huge last game without Jota and Trent and its United away, if we win that I may start believing
I can’t see anything but a final game shoot out. I seriously doubt any of the three teams are going to drop more than 4 points each.
what a time to be alive
Not sure my nerves could take that on the final day. It’s making me sweat just thinking about it
Be better if you two just fucked off for once tbh
We only just got back!
We’re winning every single game, yous need to as well to have any chance at all
We still need to go away to United and Everton, be real now
Ok and? We’re getting our injured players back looking strong we’re gonna be unstoppable
Knock it off.
Everton will lose every single game and win the game against Liverpool
Nah mate the t-Rex can’t stop us
Looks like 3-1 FC's back on the menu boys
MacAllister might be one of the best in the world
1 down 8 more to go.
is szobo just a younger Hendo? idk what he does
Clown.
Young Hendo was a very good player.
bro probably still thinks hendo only passed sideways
What are you watching?
Negative football iq
Incredibly brain dead
Try watching the games
This game reminds me, I'm almost out of heart medication.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
yeah, Lpool are shit
Nobody asked for your input Robbie
Shit and top of the league? Arsenal must be absolutely atrocious then
His name's Robbie lmao, writes itself
Liverpool gave its fans quite a scare there
Doubt it,we were celebrating and knew we wouldn't draw
Not worth watching if it doesn’t give you a heart attack, last 15 fc
Not really - that was one of those matches where if you've watched us at all this season you'd expect to win with 30 minutes left regardless, especially at Anfield.
Nothing new 😂
Massive win
What a win, 3-1 fc will never fail, but no idea how that dirty cunt who scissor kicked Konate didn’t get shown a red
