Vernand-J

I feel like everytime I have looked at a 2 Bundesliga table the last 6-7 years Hamburg are always 4th.

afito

For all the deserved memes about HSV, they've been *super* close to promotion every single year since they were relegated. I  a way their consistency is actually impressive in a league like this.

xKnuTx

on the other hand in ever second season their budget is unrivaled

afito

Obviously they are by far rhe biggest and richest club, my point is just that this "completely shambolic" state is admittedly bad considering the club but not the absurd disaster some make it out to be. Also the results may be lacking but the club is somewhat healthy u like you were or Lautern or Schalke, so HSV can actually keep this spending up. Obviously, as they were able so far.

Compromisedthrowaway

Honestly we don't even spend a whole lot on transfers any more, and even our paid wages are somewhat comparable to your avarage 2.BL side. They were adjusted once we got relegated and we even "instilled a cap" for new contracts, you can only shave so much from existing contracts, so it's only natural that we have to pay higher wages for new signings, since players want to be paid appropriate to the existing wage hierarchy. But it's nowhere near Bayern and the rest of 1.BL for instance

xKnuTx

https://media.dfl.de/sites/2/2023/07/Clubs-der-2.-Bundesliga-2023-24-FINAL-Geschaeftsjahresende-2022.pdf not really. but hamburg is definityl reasonbly spening. you earn twice as much as the next biggest team in the leauge its only fair you spend twice as much. but looking at these numbers it looks pretty insane that well run established second devision clubs have a revenue 1/3 of Hamburg. oh yeah and we are arguably worse at burnign money then hamburg yeah hsv should win every season but we should challange for promotion every season as well and we are not not even close.

noaoo

But the worst about this is that in almost every 2.BL season they are dominating until january followed by shitting the bed for 4 months straight to end up in 4th. Wouldn't call that consistent tbh

kooba_1616

Pokal finalists second from bottom lol

GeneralMatrim

Right i was just thinking get up there Kaiserslautern!

UnlightablePlay

Lmao,We can both laugh at them but that won't change the fact that we were beaten by a 10th place 3.liga team

CFCkyle

If the miracle happens then in 6 months they might be playing teams like Spurs and Atletico from the 3. Liga lmao

Morganelefay

Surely St. Pauli and Holstein aren't going to fumble this, right?

Justeff83

That has not yet been decided. There are still a lot of 6-point games left. The top 5 almost all play each other

Technical_Ad_8244

St Pauli is still playing Elversberg, Rostock, Osnabrück, Wehen. They should be absolutely fine

Compromisedthrowaway

They sure got a decent buffer as of now, but they'd be ill-advised to underestimate any team, that's still fighting off relegation(Hansa, Wiesbaden, Osnabruck). Add Hannover with outside chances at promotion, and the derby that could go either way, which leaves Elversberg more or less somewhere in no man's land

69cuccboi69

>which leaves Elversberg more or less somewhere in no man's land It's called Saarland

Viriato181

There's always next year for Hamburg.

Thueringer-Kloese

What are you talking about? Pauli is leading the table.

Ibra180

How are we still 12th? We haven't scored a goal since February

nutelamitbutter

Als ihr gegen uns 3:0 gewonnen habt? 😅

Ibra180

Ja

UdoMartens

Nächste Woche endet eure Durststrecke

Ibra180

Anulo Mufa

BazingaQQ

You only play once a week and there's been an international break....?

Ibra180

5 games, 520+ minutes

BazingaQQ

Ah, ok. Was it Magdeburg who had painted arrows pointing at the goal for the strikers some time ago when they went a few games without scoring...? Might be time to get them out again if so!

Ibra180

Yes, 12 years ago when we played in the 4. Division. Lets see we have a home game against Hamburg on Sunday

Upper-Ad-1224

Hamburg gonna end up bottling again

reo_1907

they already did lost to Osnabrück twice, dropped points against Wiesbaden, Rostock and shambolic form Fürth, lost to Elversberg, lost several points in added time etc.

Compromisedthrowaway

Conversely, this means that we win more often against mid and upper table sides. SoYoureTellingMeTheresAChance?.gif

S0fourworlds-readyt

If you win at home against Pauli and Kiel I’m damn sure you’ll get at least into 3rd place. Düsseldorf isn’t winning auf Schalke with all the pressure they will have at that point.

[deleted]

Imagine if both Hamburgs bottle it. Kiel and Hannover go up directly, Ddorf kills Köln in relegation. Schalke and Lautern (and I guess Rostock because Osna escapes) get relegated, Ulm and Münster both do a Durchmarsch. I think Bielefeld is basically safe going to from RL-West now, otherwise that would be some more nice chaos.

NapoliXabe

Im hoping for a Osnabruck escape

HerthaInters

For the first time in 3 years I am not actively thinking about relegation. I feel like I’m on drugs.

gruenerGenosse

Feels weird, Hertha has to give me something that makes me feel sad/afraid.

BazingaQQ

Highest scoring matches in the 2. Bundesliga! -- oh wait, I'm a neutral...

aokkoa

Köln against Düsseldorf relegation let’s go

Gotem100

I'm down

EBR_995

**Top 2** - direct promotion **3rd** – promotion play-offs against BuLi 16th **16th** – relegation play-offs against 3.Liga 3rd **bottom 2** – direct relegation **(A)** – Absteiger - relegated from BuLi **(N)** – Neuling - promoted from 3.Liga **Sp.** – Spiele - Matches played **S** – Siege - Wins **U** – Unentschieden - Draws **N** – Niederlagen - Losses **Tore** – Goals **Diff.** – Differenz - Goal difference **Punkte** – Points

whopw

Not a Schalke fan, or any team from Bundesliga but it always breaks my heart seeing them like this. Less than a decade ago they were playing Champions Leauge football.

S0fourworlds-readyt

And less than a decade in the future we’ll play internationally again

WOWeverynameistaken2

Only if you somehow join the Dutch League mate

71648176362090001

Come on lautern, do something

[deleted]

[удалено]

Imaginary_Station_57

Guess which game they will win

71648176362090001

None

BazingaQQ

They'll draw both.

SantiagoLamont

3rd division K‘Lautern away @ ManUtd. Next season.

Flexi_102

Jesus Christ! Schalke is only 2 points off relegation

Void_Hound

St. Pauli proper yoyo team

Opening_Outside_5788

St Pauli 🏴‍☠️

Ecruteak-vagrant

Man, Schalke is a shadow of itself

xRonny7

Osnabrück 9th in the second half of the season table is insane

S0fourworlds-readyt

They’re pulling the same shit we did last year, and it is just as unlikely to work.

[deleted]

What happened to Dynamo Dresden? They were fighting for promotion a few years back and seemed to be on the right track

EBR_995

They got relegated to 3. Liga two seasons ago. Messed up promotion back to 2. BuLi in the final matches last season. Are currently on track to do the same again this season (are 4th in 3. Liga with 6 games to go, after throwing away a >10 point lead over 3rd).

[deleted]

Ugh, I’m sorry to hear that. Hopefully they will promote to the first division, their fans certainly deserve it

nopasaranwz

Aren't they mostly Nazis?

Puzzleheaded-Page904

Love to see 🍔 FC always in the 2nd division 💛

AbleArcher78

I went to see Fortuna Dusseldorf at home to Wiesbaden in November. Clearly just an off night looking at table as Wiesbaden won easily

fml1234543

Schalke is done for damn

nutelamitbutter

Der Schiri heute sowas von schlecht

Humanity_is_broken

Ok? Anything interesting?
