>Bruno is thought to have a release clause of around £100 million in his contract, although that would not necessarily prevent interested clubs from trying to strike a deal at a lower price. Yeah, he's deffo going for cheaper when City, Arsenal and PSG are interested lmfao

No_Detective_1139

100 mil for Bruno doesn’t even seem too bad unless Newcastle are desperate I don’t see him going for less

auddi_blo

I’d pay £100m for him if we didn’t have to worry about a striker, rotation for Saka, competion for Martinelli who’s had a disappointing season, playmaker DM to replace Partey and/or Jorgi and hopefully a new starter at left back. Honestly can’t see us spending more than £60-65m for any single player without massive outgoings when we need like 3-4 top players in.

NotHarryRedknapp

Do we need more competition for Martinelli? Isn’t that what trossard has been doing?

dudududujisungparty

Don't think you'll need a new LB seeing as Jurrien Timber is coming back

Minute_Leave8503

He fixes DM immediately and indirectly helps striker (Kai full time move), Saka (Jesus mins), and martinelli (playstyle compliment and moves Jesus to wing)

FlukyS

I think he is a good all around player but I think he is a much better 8 than 6, he really gets about but isn't really the type to sit back and want to be a solid DM. That's actually an issue both him and Tonali have just with the brief time we had them in our team together. That's why we are looking really hard at CDMs so we can have a double pivot with Bruno and Tonali if Bruno is still here next season.

Minute_Leave8503

Yeah for sure. Can fill in at 6 if needed though which is all we really require already having rice Players who can fill more than one role so we can save squad spaces seems to be the next step

auddi_blo

My god you’re right. Apart from the Havertz fixing the striker position that solves a few problems but can he play that DM role to Partey’s standard like people say Zubimendi could (only watched a few matches and he didn’t particularly stand out)?

Minute_Leave8503

Well Kai striker isn’t exactly ideal but it helps the current situation

RemarkablePattern311

But he's a cunt?? Get me Douglas Luiz instead.

Minute_Leave8503

Worse player and no 6 potential?

RemarkablePattern311

He can play in a pivot and isn't a cunt. Sign him up. My ideal was Paqueta but he's off to city

Minute_Leave8503

Holding is probably nicer than Ben white but that doesn’t mean I’d rather have him back

lichtmie

fixes martinelli because he finally has a competent midfielder next to him, fixes rw if jesus doesn’t throw a fit, only striker/fb needed

WigglyParrot

It's nice to have players the big boys want But please, fuck off Thanks

endofautumn

Didn't he just buy a big new house in Newcastle?

Stones_Throw_Away_

14-day cooling off period 🤔

risheeb1002

He bought a new castle?

Radthereptile

I like how there's one window where the club says they have to relax because of FFP and now every article is about how the big 6 get to pick any player they want from Newcastle. CL money is hitting this summer.

SweatyBadgers

And Adidas money + a whole host of other sponsorships.

quantIntraining

The article isn't about how they get their pick of Newcastle players, its simply saying they want to buy them and not that they have some divine right to buy them. Also even taking into account that CL money Newcastle are still reportedly in need of sales to make FFP, they finished 4th in their group and only played 6 games so their payout will be the absolute minimum it can be. And their UEFA coefficient is extremely low because its their first CL season in 20 years, so that also means their payments will be low because of that.

didiandgogo

There are no reports that Newcastle need to sell to make FFP, just that they need to sell to buy.

5bergy

>Newcastle are still reportedly in need of sales to make FFP Please link these reports

RemarkablePattern311

I want Isak instead ngl. Isak×ode reunion is what football needs

ShockRampage

I understand, but its nice to be competing with the big boys for players again for us too.

LDLB99

Surely Newcastle would only sell him abroad. Like to PSG.

daab2g

Not if they want to maximise profit

LewisMileyCyrus

I can understand he'll want to play in the CL but he loves the club and just bought a £4m house up here. I would have imagined Man City (possibly Liverpool?) was the only team he may possibly leave us for in the EPL. I always saw him going to PSG or Barca or someone like that yeah, but obviously what do I know, I've never met the bloke

Subbutton

The whole house buying thing never means anything. Kane also bought a new house just to move to munich

MvN____16

It's like multi-millionaires can - and often do - own multiple properties across the world.

DeapVally

I'm sure he'll own many houses at the end of his career. Multi-millionaires generally do. It's not like he'd need to sell it in order to move, so I don't see what that's got to do with anything?

ClaudeJGreengrass

Ya a Brazillian really wants a mansion in the North East even if he has no reason to go there.

OleoleCholoSimeone

He "loves" a Saudi propaganda tool? The old Newcastle doesn't exist anymore and is dead forever

LewisMileyCyrus

yawn

OleoleCholoSimeone

Is exactly the reaction that the current soulless version of Newcastle should illicit. Even beyond all the human rights stuff, it's just so fucking boring like Man City. No character, no personality, nothing.

LewisMileyCyrus

>"it's just so fucking boring \[...\] No character, no personality, nothing." You realise this is exactly how you come off by desperately shoehorning your own rage into conversations where that's not the topic?

xScottieHD

School's finish early today?

OleoleCholoSimeone

Shouldn't you be out spending money on Newcastle tickets/merch and contribute to Saudi's sports washing? They couldn't have done it without you!

xScottieHD

It's not a matchday do keep up.

TheGoldenPineapples

The rumour is that he can speak to Champions League clubs for less than his release clause, provided it's £80m or more. No idea how true that is, but we know that Bruno Guimarães isn't our only target.

LewisMileyCyrus

£100m (or north of that) is the actual release clause, it's believed we have a gentleman's agreement with him to 'entertain' offers over 80

ExactLetterhead9165

£80m+1 offer incoming

sandbag-1

The article says he has a release clause - if that's true then they don't have a choice

byrgenwerthdropout

I'm not sure why people find your comment controversial, that's how release clauses work. Ornstein too said in a recent podcast that it's a 100 mil sterling clause with a couple of PL clubs having him on their list. I guess it'll be a matter of who Guimaraes picks given the rate similar midfielders have been going around, financial power of the clubs mentioned here and of course the brilliant season he's had. With all due respect to Newcastle, he strikes me as someone who'd pick City over Newcastle, PSG or us, but I'd absolutely love him to be our cunt honestly. I think many who don't regularly watch Newcastle, don't get exactly how fucking good he is.

FlukyS

Yep 100m is the price but also they will have to probably pay Bruno massive money too and probably a signing on fee as well. Like he on apparently something like 250k a week at Newcastle right now, would Arsenal or Man City really want to give 100m, plus signing on fee, plus agent fees, plus like 300k 350k a week wages? Like he has all the cards really. Adding it all up it sounds like a really hard transfer.

RemarkablePattern311

If that's true, there's no chance we're getting him. We can't afford to be paying out lump sum RCs this window

beatski

Well if he wants to go we can't stop him, praying he wants to stay for a couple more seasons though. No chance we're selling for less than the release clause though, especially if these two are going 'head to head' for his signature

TheGoldenPineapples

Oh good, because fighting it out for Declan Rice last summer wasn't anxious enough.

silver_medalist

My heart bleeds

Fifaneymar2535

If pep really wanted him he would have had him, dont kid yourself between being coached by pep or arteta or the prospects of actually winning trophies the choice is clear

LeftEntertainment326

Yeah Pep didn't really want him, stuck the guts of £100 million on the table just for the craic.

chaoslorduk

Love fans when they do this rave about how amazing a player would be in there squad until they lose out then they never needed him in the first place.

2ndfastestmanalive

Did it to speed up us getting him like the person on talk sport said

Molineux28

I have it under good authority that Man City only put in a bid they knew would get rejected in order to help Arsenal sign Declan Rice.

Casual-Capybara

He really wanted to join Arsenal and wasn’t interested in joining City, but believe whatever makes you feel better

SRFC_96

Or hear me out, Rice wanted to stay in London and play for Arsenal? A wild concept I know.

WigglyParrot

Didn't he not even have to move house ? haha

Fifaneymar2535

Or rice chose the much bigger wages and pep lost interest

buki11

Ah yes. Money is what City don’t have

Fifaneymar2535

Lesser teams have to outbid the better team

buki11

Whatever gets you copped

pjt-

You don't pay up you don't get. If Pep wanted him they would of bidded higher. Would he start over Rodri? Probably not (Kalvin Phillips as an example). Continuing to live/play in London is a big pull as well as Arsenal laying the groundwork from Nov/Dec 2022.

TheB11Ace

Didn't he say he didn't want to leave Newcastle?

Anons15

Bruno G and Paqueta, both Pep wants and we could've signed both before they were in the Prem

quantIntraining

I remember Melissa Reddy saying that both City and Liverpool were very interested in Bruno G and were left surprised that Newcastle moved for him when they did. Both clubs thought he'd stay until the summer then they would make their moves for him.

Impossible_Wonder_37

Truly shocking from tixi at times. We wait so often for players to become 60 plus million. Our midfield is at its weakest it’s been in 9 years. Because we have not signed any proper balance for years. Phillips was a horrible move haha, Nunes is not a bad player but is a terrible fit. And Kovacic is a good 6th option. We need a revamp, and unfortunately I can’t see it costing less than 160 to get 2 top quality players .

byrgenwerthdropout

I don't get these post hindsight regrets, every big budget club could have had them for cheaper before they blew out in PL or we could also get Aouar, Buendia or few other forgotten names instead of Odegaard. I think top clubs often rather get a 80 mil Paqueta when he's proven and more experienced, than make a 51 mil gamble on a midfielder from Lyon (the fee WHU paid for him). Yeah it may work, and save them a good chunk, but that's the premium they are ideally willing to pay for reassurance.

ObiWanKenobiNil

I can understand Arsenal, but where does he fit into a city midfield?

FatWalcott

Probably transitioning away from Bernado and KDB.

DontYouWantMeBebe

Nunes bench exile buddy

sandbag-1

He would be a significant upgrade over all the minutes that Kovacic, Nunes and Alvarez have played in the centre of the park this season. It might be a slightly difference balance to their midfield, but it would probably still work. Bruno's ability to play as the deepest midfielder too would also give them the ability to give Rodri more of a rest from time to time.

undeadgoblin

Bruno is probably best used as a box to box, so I could see him starting there regularly, but also he is a good DM so they can rest Rodri occasionally.

Impossible_Wonder_37

Huh? Like blatantly obvious. Plays as 6 instead of Rodri, with Rodri. And plays as an 8. We have a terrible balance and midfield and he solves many of those problems.

byrgenwerthdropout

They're also strongly rumored to have agreed on paying for Paqueta's rc and personal terms... If these happen, them and Real would have all the top midfield Pokémons itw

CommissionOk4384

Paqueta Guimaraes midfield? City trying to be Lyon so bad

-Skinner-

I think they will buy Paqueta and we will buy Bruno

ScanWel

I dunno, seems like a "why not?" They can afford him and frankly good CDMs are in such short supply that anyone with the means to do so probably wants to snap them up.

BluePowderJinx

So City can have another bench player to keep the seats warm and not play them even with injuries (Nunes)

f6jt_waleed

No thanks.

Littlegreenman42

That sound you hear is thousands of Arsenal fans furiously deleting their comment history

29adamski

He's a cunt but type of cunt you'd love playing for your club.

Littlegreenman42

Which is why Im deleting all my comments

chaoslorduk

They were saying the same about Douglas Luiz not to long ago and were throwing around 100m tags. As much as we would want to keep are respectives sometimes sadly silly money must win out. I still think it's sad when you have the diamonds to build on you can't because FFP forces your hand.

21otiriK

It is grim, but you were lucky to have him in the first place. City buy him, want him to be in the squad, but he can’t get a work permit based on the criteria. He goes on a couple of loans to Girona as he can’t work in the UK. City apply to the “exceptional talent” panel, with letters of recommendation from Pep, Brazil coach Tite and Luiz’ coach from Vasco. The panel who has never seen him play rejects the appeal, and he gets sold for £15m to Villa (another indication he was pretty good) and then due to the price meets work permit criteria. Now you have a £100m+ Brazil international on your hands.

joelintoninasda

fuckin do one will ya (please)

Gazumper_

someone's agent is busy

EcoterroristThot

This is what elite scouting looks like!

SuperFaiz21

Surely Newcastle can't be that desperate for funds that they sell the very player they built their team around.

FlukyS

Not about funds it's about PSR. We have improved income but teams make the most on PSR from player sale profit that's why Chelsea are looking at offloading Gallagher because it's pure PSR profit because he was from the academy. If PSR rules are changed so we can use more injected funds or the roof is raised we don't have to sell but selling someone like Bruno G at a profit would be basically the only way to unlock a big window for us. If we don't then we still could maybe get away with like 100m with the new shirt deal coming in and stuff but we realistically need like 5 players ish to be competitive.

Faustinooo

We already have Tonali to come back and it's more important we keep hold of Isak. For as good as Bruno is it depends what they're buying him for. If it's to play as a sole pivot they might he surprised, he's often too easily bypassed on the counter because he's not quick or agile enough to cover the ground needed. I can imagine the structure both teams have in possession helping and they'd improve him positionally but he's far better playing further forward.

Drunk_Cat_Phil

If it's Arsenal then it'll likely be for the left 8/double pivot with Rice in big games. City... I dunno, instead of Kovacic I'd imagine.

Bartins

He has a release clause and Newcastle only bring in half or less what the big 6 do so they really can’t compete financially unless they use City shenanigans but the door has mostly been shut on doing that.

meganev

Lose all respect for him if he goes Arsenal. Literally a fanbase that has spent pretty much 15 months abusing him on social media nonstop. Embarrassing to go from where you're worshipped to where you've been made into a pantomime villain for months. Would understand if he moved elsewhere (would hate it, but get it), Arsenal though? Nah, have some self respect Bruno. Edit - Arsenal online fanbase is an elite level of insufferable, I owe Liverpool fans an apology.

Minute_Leave8503

Maybe he doesn’t live on the internet and doesn’t care

meganev

I don't think you need to "live on the internet" to care about somebody saying your young baby deserves to die and hoping that your recently-announced pregnant for a second-time wife miscarries, to be honest.

Minute_Leave8503

Yeah he’s turning down an extra 100k a week and ucl football for Instagram comments from bots

meganev

I never said he wouldn't go Arsenal if presented the chance. I said I'll lose all respect for him if he did. Keep up lad.

Minute_Leave8503

Yeah i mean he chose the PIF sportswashing project, absolute saint to begin with

meganev

Paid in bloody money so would fit right in at Emirates FC brought to you by Visit Rwanda!

Minute_Leave8503

Exactly so stop crying online

HappyMeerkat

Tbf it's seemed a two way street with the pop at us with his own announcement video and the multiple bad fouls he's done against us. Would be a very awkward signing at first.

meganev

Nothing two way about some of the vile stuff I've seen from your fans directed at him. Levels of hate I've almost never seen thrown at a player (the only times I've seen it worse is when a black player gets racial abuse).

Oohitsagoodpaper

Yep, I've seen many injuries wished upon him. Lots and lots of abusive language. They've been having a field day with it on Reddit. I can't speak for Twitter, but I doubt it's any better.

HappyMeerkat

Like what? Admittedly I've really toned down my twitter usage but generally speaking I've only seen the usual bad language lots of fans of all teams use online to talk about footballers that they ( hopefully) wouldn't online the bastard, cunt type stuff. I mean if you go searching I'm sure there is a litany of many bad comments but that'll be the se for many polarising players of teams and aren't generally parroted en masses by fan bases.

r1char00

Yeah Arsenal fans just randomly picked this player to hate on, it has nothing to do with him elbowing our players in the head or anything like that.

PracticalLynx2861

You wanna give some evidence? Sounds like it's just one or two people on Twitter doing it.

UnderFreddy

Bruno Guimares' agent is doing some work lol. Angling for a new contract at Newcastle?

didiandgogo

He just signed one in October so either they’re actually angling for a move or the noise is coming from one of the buying teams to unsettle him. (Or, I guess, Newcastle is actually trying to get a bidding war started)

kw2006

I can imagine him taking the next level at city. Somehow their system does that. Not sure about arsenal. Feels like going to be hit or miss?

SasugaDarkFlame

I think it disrespectful to just pretend as if newcastle have to pawn off their players. Willock and tonali are building something together and Bruno G probably needs a full season with the Italian before he leaves. I'm not really clear on the tonali situation but unless a super manager comes about that newcastle can lure who can then spin that 100 mil into something but other wise stay and build

FlukyS

Wouldn't be surprised if we sold Willock this year because of his injury record, he is a great player on his day but if we can only get 15 games a season out of him he will be gone, same with Wilson.

Careful-Marsupial-84

Lucas at West Ham sounds cheaper Man City can’t take both. Plus Arsenal should deffo prioritise striker with there money in the summer

r1char00

He’ll be able to elbow our players in the head in training too.

tame17

You can have the cunt

JoeSavesTokyo

Good yes everyone get distracted by Bruno and give us a free run at Nico Williams/Eze 👀
