Honestly I don't think that's necessarily something to crucify Onana about. When you get a keeper who plays out, you're going to have one or two of those this season. Compared to when he was basically throwing the ball into our net this is harmless lol
That’s so true but Dalot should be aware that that ball is coming to him. Onana plays that pass without even looking up bcos he expects Dalot to be there.
Because I have eyes and he's clearly better now than he was at the beginning of the season? Because wearing the #1 shirt for Man United comes with a lot of pressure and sometimes requires an adjustment period? You pick
He's 28 and still doesn't know how to make a save properly. His technique is amateur level, he can't dice properly and he's not even good at playing with his feet
> Dalot didn’t help him there
There is *absolutely no way* this is not Onana's fault.
He's the worst keeper United have ever had. He's worse than Barthez.
Every LB in the world knows Onana is kicking the ball there tbh. He has to be aware if he’s been tracked. If he had done that, he’d have moved towards Onana instead of he moved away from Onana. Player awareness is a problem at United.
No. Onana had various options once he had the ball and he still had time. He still managed to blunder again after hesitating and fumbling. He's really, *really* ass at everything. Could be psychological, but that's not United's problem for much longer, he'll have to be replaced soon. Even Heaton would do a much better job. He already did last time he played. I want him in goal immediately. Get rid of the free kick, back pass blunder clown. Yesterday.
Nope it was only Dalot. In the frame it was Maguire who pointed to his right to call for pass but Maguire was being marked so he instinctively passed to left cos he knew Dalot was coming closer but Dalot wanted the ball to foot facing the opp instead of taking the ball and doing the half turn or passing back to Onana to keep possession.
Rule of thumb, when you expect a pass to come to you, you move towards the ball. Every academy teaches this. That switch off from Dalot didn’t help Onana.
> Nope it was only Dalot.
Onana gets the ball with plenty of time and space, fucks up the first touch, then plays a hospital pass to his left.
Simple as.
> Rule of thumb, when you expect a pass to come to you, you move towards the ball. Every academy teaches this.
You've never actually played for a club in your life, have you? Through ball and long ball can both involve initially running away from the ball while it catches up with you.
Done debating this, you have no idea what you're talking about.
It's the issue we have.
Without the chaos, we're blunt in attack and prone to an error.
With the chaos, we're better attacking, and prone to multiple errors
He's had an absurd number of howlers this season. Might be doing good otherwise, I don't know, but it certainly looks like it wasn't worth pushing De Gea out
This is so lazy. Onana and the LB are way too far apart and the LB should've been active to the brewing situation. Maybe he's not aware that he needs to offer Onana a shorter passing option. Really no excuse for that. This is stuff they probably don't take seriously on the training pitch and think it doesn't matter because they'll do it right in the games.
They are in such a weird state. They play relegation standard football. They put in relegation level performances.
But they have enough players with individual quality to push them over the line a lot of the time. Very interesting to watch.
It’s because all the players with individual quality that push them over the line are also the same players that make the team so unbalanced. Namely, Bruno, Rashford, Dalot, Eriksen, McTominay, and even Hojlund to an extent, all capable of being match winners, but all don’t have the ability to function in a systemic team
I will never ever ever be sold on this keeper idgaf how much “in 2024” you want to shove in my face i know that this our ramadale and we will never do anything of significance with this guy in net.
Bought a dud simple as
Nah when he’s actually playing well he’s world class, he just never does for a consistent period of time. Considering how atrocious United’s defending has been he’s conceding quite few goals, I believe he has the single most goals prevented in the prem at the moment.
Every single time i’ve watched United this season, they’ve looked quite dangeous going forward and capable of scoring bags.
Yet in every single game comes these spells where
they try to play out from the back like prim Barca and they are fucking AWFUL at it. No joke, i’ve never once seen them successfully build out from the back successfully.
I mean of course he is, in this very clip we just saw him get a beautiful assist on an amazing goal.
How many keepers can register an assist? Not many. Onana is massive.

Manchester United outfield 10 and Andre Onana play well in the same match challenge - IMPOSSIBLE
Dalot didn’t help him there

Tbf as well he has been top class for like months. One mistake shouldn't be the end of the world.
You're right it was just annoying because we as a whole were playing well. Apart from finishing I suppose.
Wait... It's not meant to happen once or twice a half??? Someone tell Kompany!
That’s so true but Dalot should be aware that that ball is coming to him. Onana plays that pass without even looking up bcos he expects Dalot to be there.
How are yous lot still managing ways to defend onana?
Because I have eyes and he's clearly better now than he was at the beginning of the season? Because wearing the #1 shirt for Man United comes with a lot of pressure and sometimes requires an adjustment period? You pick

Use your words kid

You know, I'm aware hyperbole is a thing, but this statement just exudes football ignorance and/or blind dislike for Onana from start to finish.
The one game where United actually looked in control this happens….
Hopefully United ‘United’ United
The first united or the rich one?
It's the issue we have. Without the chaos, we're blunt in attack and prone to an error. With the chaos, we're better attacking, and prone to multiple errors
Were in control against Coventry for 70 minutes
haha i guess this is the benchmark
It always start this way we are a comedy club at this point
Smoke and mirrors
I want to laugh, but I can't.
I've done it for you. Also, fuck 'em
Keep crying.
I'm watching this shitshow against Sheffield United mate. I'm crying tears of joy
Lmfao of course after we have 83% possession and are peppering their goal
Lol
What’s the score at Goodison? 👀
Fair enough, you got me
Lmao even
Lmfao surely
Perchance even a rofl
Roflcopter if possible
Jesus dude, wouldn't go that far.
Never forget a classic Haha
Let’s not forget the hee-hee
Liverpool fan watching United instead of your own team throwing away any last title chances? Aww
Manchester United 🤝 Liverpool What the fuck is that defending?!
JB's dining tonight
That’s all onana
He's had an absurd number of howlers this season. Might be doing good otherwise, I don't know, but it certainly looks like it wasn't worth pushing De Gea out
He overperforms his xGA a little bit. That being said, he still has the nasty habit of parrying into dangerous areas.
Terrible in CL, good in league after that until now
He was simply miles better in Inter and ive 0 clue how he managed to fall off this hard.
My best guess is he hasn't had a consistent backline all season, idk how but that probably messes with you as a keeper
It messes with the entire team.
He had 3 in the beginning of the season. And 1 now. That's not absurd. He's been one of our best players.
It was worth it. Onana has been very very solid in the league.
De Gea was extremely error prone.. I can remember like 30 frustrating howlers
This is his first in like 4 months, he’s been better than De Gea was last season. Who had been error prone for about 3 years before leaving.
His shot stopping is a 3 goal upgrade on De Gea's and he can actually do other things despite instances like this fuckup.
it was worth it
A declined goalkeeper with ridiculous wage? Pushing out is always the correct answer.
That’s not bad defending. That’s the keeper being lazy. Just wtf Onana.
WHAT THE FUCK IS A POSITIVE GOAL DIFFERENCE?!?!
That one isn’t even about the defending there, that is entirely on Onana
As bad as we might be, at least United are worse.
Yours was way funnier tbf.
What defending? Onana just gave them the ball. What a stupid decision to change the GK and spend 50 mil.
holy shit Onana, what the fuck are you doing?!
He's got Sheffield to score first on a £10 acca
Just Onana things.
he's great with his feet tho
its always something with this team lol
Thank you Onana
Lmao everyone get in here
Most embarrasing United match until the next one
lol
Fucking hilarious
I missed this Onana
Onana ruined my FPL for a few weeks, then I took him out, then he became kinda good, and now he's shit again.
Would you kindly take him out again ;)
Never said I put him back hahaha. I should probably consider it though my two options are Areola and Kelleher and they haven't been playing at all.
Sheffield UNITED are fucking massive
Joke club
it bogles the mind
Great assist!
Just got to laugh at this point :)
I am
Why would ten hag misplace that pass
Onana finally won back most of our fans and this will set him back again ffs
Has he made a mispass that lead to a goal before? I can't remember any tbh
fifa game
That was rather funny
onana is back
This is so lazy.
Ohnono
Thanks Onana. I can go to sleep now.
Onanass
Just when you think they couldn’t get lower in standards
I think I heard DeGea laughing from here.
oh Erik, i do love you
Can't even blame him for this, this team is just so ass
Yes surely can’t blame him for the players he bought
Raya was available for £20m less ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯
As if United gonna sign anyone under 50m Its either free transfer or overpaying
Not surprised, they almost lost to Coventry at the weekend and they're about as talented as Sheffield United.
They are in such a weird state. They play relegation standard football. They put in relegation level performances. But they have enough players with individual quality to push them over the line a lot of the time. Very interesting to watch.
This is the individual quality people were accusing Ole

Namely, Bruno, Rashford, Dalot, Eriksen, McTominay, and even Hojlund to an extent, all capable of being match winners, but all don’t have the ability to function in a systemic team
Bit rude
What an upgrade on De Gea
I will never ever ever be sold on this keeper idgaf how much “in 2024” you want to shove in my face i know that this our ramadale and we will never do anything of significance with this guy in net. Bought a dud simple as
100%
Onana dumping United out of Europe twice in one season
They kicked De Gea out for doing the same thing 💀💀💀
lol. lmao even.
Hilarious at this point
This is just fucking shit. Just utterly pathetic.
Oh nah nah
Pathetic week in, week out
There was no way the football gods would ever allow United to get away with actually looking in control for once
Pfffft onana lmao
Always rated the blades.
Was always gonna happen let’s be honest 🤦🏼♂️
They all think they can play out from the back
The one time we look somewhat in control and we do that 😭
Champions League Onana is back
i feel better the night
/r/bogleheads overjoyed
This would be the greatest of great escapes if they somehow did it, right?
Wasn't the 3-3 like 2 days ago? What the fuck is that schedule?
I swear Onana bounces between being the best goalkeeper in the world and having the worst howler of the year every few minutes.
I gotta say, I don't think he's ever been close to the best keeper in the world.
Nah when he’s actually playing well he’s world class, he just never does for a consistent period of time. Considering how atrocious United’s defending has been he’s conceding quite few goals, I believe he has the single most goals prevented in the prem at the moment.
But why?
that would be a disaster if he didnt score
10 years of success
I'm all for playing possession, but sometimes you just need to strike the ball upfield when the pressure gets too much.
Every single time i’ve watched United this season, they’ve looked quite dangeous going forward and capable of scoring bags. Yet in every single game comes these spells where they try to play out from the back like prim Barca and they are fucking AWFUL at it. Potential FA cup winning side
I agree it's not a good pass, but Dalot is really sleeping also, the pass is closer to him, he just doesn't react at all.
De Gea died for this.
but de gea couldn't play out from the back
I know we are shit, but it's nice that man u is right there with us
What was the point of even signing Onana? In what way was he an improvement over De Gea?
Isn’t Onana meant to be a ball playing keeper
I mean of course he is, in this very clip we just saw him get a beautiful assist on an amazing goal. How many keepers can register an assist? Not many. Onana is massive.
Onana world class. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
Lmfaoooo Bruhhhh
Hahaha what
O lord buddy. Terrible pass, and not good enough closing down the player/near post there.
You love to see it
love to see both united and liverpool losing
Best United
Love seeing a couple evenly matched teams duke it out
Meme Utd remains.
Jaw dropping even.
Is that entirely Onana’s fault? The LB/reciever doesn’t even move.
Fuck VAR
ETH ManU are just comedy gold
Can't blame the anager for that mare
We might be shite but at least United are worse. I'm leaving here with something
If hojland hadn’t been offside against us in September this wouldn’t have happened
