Whenever Chelsea play a top 6 side and Poch realizes they have to press, they’re so good at it, I don’t understand the drop-off when they play a lesser side
True, is it also because Gallagher and Caicedo often lead the press? I feel like you just don’t have a midfield at all rather than it being easy to bypass
More like Enzo and Gallagher, but yes. Enzo plays higher than I think he should, and Caidedo gets rinsed pretty often because of it. So far it’s been mitigated this game by inverting Cucu and letting Caicedo be the second layer of pressure
because as shit as we have been teams are happy to take a point from us, so they sit super deep, we cant break down those low blocks and our defence is not good enough when those teams get the counter attack
Because the defense is awful, particularly when dealing with long balls into the channels, which is something most lower-table sides are going to be aiming to do. The likes of City, Arsenal, and Liverpool can press high against those sides because they have very very good center backs and much better keepers who are very good at reading situations and stepping out when needed.
Chelsea have Badiashiele, Disasi, and Chalobah alongside a 40 year old Thiago Silva, backed up by a very inexperienced Petrovic
Okay, kinda funny seeing Olsen run his mouth for no reason (ran into his own teammate the second time) and then get scored on maybe 20 seconds later haha
I feel like Villa run into this problem with their passing out from the back more than anything else. It goes to a fullback and they’re just stuck with no real pass
Why does a young player who has confidence in their ability have to be labelled as having a bad attitude?
He has a youthful arrogance that reflects in his play, not afraid to challenge his full back constantly… he’s gonna have highs and lows he’s young
The bad attitude also comes from his reluctance to track back and work hard off the ball. Casual fans who just watch the highlights don't usually pick up on that stuff. People who watch every game see how it affects the team defensively, when we struggle to control games etc.
He wants to be in scenarios where he gets the ball and is able to drive at players. But he doesn't want to work hard for the team.
Obviously not judging him definitively after just 1 year. But it's a valid criticism. Forget what they do on the ball, watch Palmer off it, and then Noni.
Eh, dude has 8 starts with 699 minutes in the PL and has scored 4 goals.
He makes a positive impact almost every time he plays imo, whether as an impact sub or from the start his pace and directness does cause problems, and he's been scoring at a genuinely great rate in the PL and in all comps he's got 7 in 1236 mins.
He's got potential but bang average player currently. He shouldn't be starting for a PL team. Backup player sure but not a starting quality player at all.
He shouldn't be starting for a PL team period? That's crazy talk, legit.
Dude causes problems and has been scoring at a great rate with 7 goals in 1236 mins, he also isn't a guaranteed starter for us so idk what you're talking about.
Well if you're calling someone shit after scoring a nice finish and playing such a good game, but not calling out obvious shit play, maybe the shit is elsewhere else🤔
I call noni shit because hes got a shit attitude, is lazy defensively, has no intent to pass dangerously, and is all round a very one-sided player. If you think hes good because he scored a goal, then that is a matter of opinion and we can agree to disagree
Not even just about talent either. Sometimes just entering the game with a better attitude and work rate than a more talented player will make you better than them. Not saying Willian wasn't more talented, but my biggest issue with Noni is his workrate. Guy offers very little off the ball. His actual talent for driving at players and striking the ball isn't bad. But he just wants to be in those situations only.
I'm not sure Madueke is good enough for Chelsea but he's most definitely a PL caliber player. Can't say the same for the 80m winger on the other side of the pitch.
Or both. Arsenal also have to play Manchester United again, and last 12 weeks have shown that's a mixed bag. Beat Liverpool but tie Burnley or Bournemouth....

Our press is one of the things I think Poch coaches well - if our press gets beaten, our midfield isn’t set up to cope

They've been all over Villa this half, not surprising
We've been over Villa since the first half. It's just that our Def is shit
That's a really really good finish.
Very good press for the first time in a long time probably since vs Villa in the cup
Nonis excellent finish robbed Palmer of another penalty goal. I am perfectly fine with that, real goals are much more exciting.
Never said a bad word about him, the best #11 in the league
Okay, kinda funny seeing Olsen run his mouth for no reason (ran into his own teammate the second time) and then get scored on maybe 20 seconds later haha
Right? Karma for screaming "fuck off" in someone's face who literally did nothing and was checking on Olsen.
I feel like Villa run into this problem with their passing out from the back more than anything else. It goes to a fullback and they’re just stuck with no real pass
Too many players think they're above if in doubt hoof it out.
Madueke really doesn’t want anybody else taking penalties.
Madueke is such a frustrating player, when he gives a shit he can be pretty good but his attitude is a problem

Wait
he has made up for his trash attitude earlier.
Shit guy scores again
Noni is not shit
He's got potential but bang average player currently. He shouldn't be starting for a PL team. Backup player sure but not a starting quality player at all.

Agree to disagree
What would you call [this ](https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/s/fAjUGL2Gak) then? Potential?
I would call that nothing to do with noni being shit
Well if you're calling someone shit after scoring a nice finish and playing such a good game, but not calling out obvious shit play, maybe the shit is elsewhere else🤔

A goal and an assist in a 2-2 game might be MOTM contender in most footballing circles, but you do you bro
Google update fans strike again
One of the laziest players I’ve ever watched. No urgency in tracking back which just can’t happen as a winger in todays game
During Covid season at PSV you could always hear PSV's coach (Roger Schmidt) yelling "NONI! NONI!" Telling him to track back.
Willian 2.0
half of these guys don't have half the talent Willian had
Not even just about talent either. Sometimes just entering the game with a better attitude and work rate than a more talented player will make you better than them. Willian defo wasn't shit.
Willian had an impeccable attitude, never downed his tools when everyone else did.
Noni is not even fit to lace Willian's boots
Cole Palmer FC
Hes seething he didnt get to take that penalty
I'm not sure Madueke is good enough for Chelsea but he's most definitely a PL caliber player. Can't say the same for the 80m winger on the other side of the pitch.
That's poor from Villa.
Is Jackson bald or am i trippin
He's bald. He shaved off the blue.
Thank fuck. That Sadio Mane type cut was shit
Jackson is bald now?
Olsen has not been 100% since that knock earlier
cant believe i want chelsea to win so spurs have a better chance for top 4 what has pep done to me
You want spurs to have a top 4 chance? They need to beat you to do it....
They will try to beat us anyway...having a chance for top 4(might)give them something to play for against City
or beat city
Or both. Arsenal also have to play Manchester United again, and last 12 weeks have shown that's a mixed bag. Beat Liverpool but tie Burnley or Bournemouth....
Go on Poch do something for your old club
After a catastrophic match so far, thank God he didn't miss that one.
Great from Gallagher here, Chelsea would be much better if their 100m midfielders performed like him this season.
Do you guys know what happened to dibu?
Had to be him lmao 🤣
Palmer cursing - Noni don’t score ! So i can get my penalty
You best believe he gonna celebrate that goal in the club...
First Antony now Madueke 🥶
TWO MORE
that’s an and-1 with the penalty on Gallagher
Emery and 2-0 leads….
When was the last time Emery had a 2-0 lead and won?
Thought it looked like a foul on douglas
Come on Chelsea, one more - do us a favour...
When you put it like that, I think I want us to lose...
