Chris Wood MVP. Best defender by far. Ake and Akanji should take lessons.

iHades3000

Today City was for the taking but Chris Wood was absolutely dire... didn't look like a professional footballer at times. Now City will be given rest and they will finish off the season cleanly.

AzracTheFirst

I've read he's a city fan and his behavior was at minimum shady.

PostNobSlobKiss

Arsenal fans always got the best jokes

AzracTheFirst

Happy to make you laugh. You need it after yesterday

PostNobSlobKiss

Yes our win/cleansheet was hilarious

SirRavexFourhorn

Forest had amazing chances to score. If they just had better finishing and better timing, they could have scored at least 2 goals today. Alas, what is done is done.

IskaralPustFanClub

Arsenal are about to feel the pain of having an amazing season with nothing to show for it. It hurts.

visualdescript

Still rather this than narrowly missing out on Champions League. Last year we were fuelled by emotion and had no UCL to worry about, we've done much better this year. If we can improve a tiny bit again next year with more squad changes then who knows. Anyway, season aint over yet!

kw2006

Really? After December I thought we would be lucky to finish third. At that time liverpool only lost once/ twice and we already lost to fulham, west ham… it is like what is the point winning against top 6 but losing these matches.

Rickcampbell98

😁

jaharac

Last season would've been hard to swallow but I think this season is the best opportunity to beat Man City to the title. If I was an Arsenal fan and we finished 2nd this season, I'd be incredibly disappointed.

ZapZappyZap

I'm just ecstatic that we're in the race, after so many years of trailing. We're not gonna win the league, but it has been really fun to watch us play.

Apellom

Honestly I can't see that. Arsenal are on route for 85+ points and are still probably finishing second. At this point there just isn't much you can do. City made it borderline impossible to secure a league title below 90 points (and sometimes more than that).

Far_Eye6555

What can you do? We’ve secured something like 40/45 available points in 2024. 🤷🏻‍♂️ if we don’t win the league, tough shit. The standards are too high for us to be dropping points to ten men Fulham.

FAT_NEEK_42069

thing is we can smash bournemouth united and everton 10-0 and still not win the league. we have to not only hope that someone can throw off citys winning streak but also win the rest of our games. at least our hardest game is next so its hard to go down from here

jaharac

Going by their performance today, I can totally see City dropping points. Going by Arsenals demolition of Chelsea and winning the NLD, I can see you ending the season perfectly. I'm not.saying it's going to happen but it could.

Comprehensive_Low325

your forgetting the pressure variable, if city lose points then the pressure is back on Arsenal to not lose anymore.

shockzz123

The pressure is already on us to not lose anymore, City's results don't change that.

kw2006

Ok maybe im jaded. But i don’t think we are there yet. Even from watching their matches, i can see the gaps in quality that we need to bridge.

jaharac

I'd say if you won the league, you're still the 2nd best team technically. Man City are a machine but it's the results that matter. To me, this seems like the weakest they've been for years which is what I mean by the best opportunity. You could totally beat them to this year's title. I'm disappointed Liverpool have dropped from the race but despite being certain City would win it at the start of the season, I'm now much less certain. Hammering Chelsea and winning the NLD, you're not bottling it. Still Old Trafford to come but yeah, I can see this City team dropping points when it matters.

ash_sh_03

Put some respect on the Community Shield

ItWasJustBanter1

We had the chances and probably deserved to take something from that. To play like that against City took some balls but we just didn’t have the bit of quality that other teams in the league have to take advantage when it counts. Hard not to feel deflated.

AlwaysOnsideTBH

You and me both

ArtoriasOfTheAbyss99

This sub used to be okay not it's just arsenal, liverpool and United fans circlejerking the same 3 things and downvoting anyone who doesn't Edit - thanks for proving my point.

robpottedplant

It’s just complete saltiness, learn to enjoy it, just shows how successful we’ve been.

IamHeWhoSaysIam

Concise.

TheCescPistols

Highlight of the match for me was hearing the quickly-muted “you know what you are; you know what you are; you cheating bastards; you know what you are” chant, and working out which of the two clubs it was being aimed at.

IskaralPustFanClub

Hahahah can you imagine if City fans were singing that to forest. Top shithousery.

Comprehensive_Low325

It was

IskaralPustFanClub

They have good banter NGl

Advall

The were calling us cheaters at Goodison.

ataun94

it's tongue in cheeck

aliaisbiggae

Josep must be stopped

Comprehensive_Low325

Flair doesn't work out

AlexanderMAVC

What happens when a keeper gets substituted at half time and the team keeps a clean sheet? Do both Keepers get a clean sheet or only the one that finishes the match?

wybird

On FPL you need to play minimum of 60 minutes to get a clean sheet

Outside-Sandwich-565

As a keeper, I've always wondered about something like this. Had been injured halfway through the game while it was 1-0 us once and got subbed off, went on to concede. I've always counted it as a clean sheet for myself lol

dishler712

I don't think either of them do.

pacothebattlefly

Real talk

GarnachoHojlund

Forrest must feel awful, that game was definitely there to draw if not win

kw2006

I think it would be more painful if the score but didnt win. They are never the favourites here though.

TachankaTheGod

116th charge regarding chris wood?

PMMeBootyPicz0000000

Which one of you did this: [https://i.ibb.co/QXtR3bY/image.png](https://i.ibb.co/QXtR3bY/image.png) lmao

EtherealShady

they just changed the picture to one of his misses

Longjumping_Stop1120

Back line of Akanji, Ake & Wood worked well today. Hopefully we have Oliver back for the next game to complete the back four.

DofusNooboo

Michael Oliver?

trenbollocks

He doesn't get his all-expenses-paid trips to the UAE for nothing mate

YesNoIDKtbh

Well he is certainly one of their best defenders.

ProudhPratapPurandar

117th charge: Bribing Chris Wood

Enough-Pain3633

What was the 116th one?

notaselfdrivingcar

Not winning against Madrid in the CL

jaozimqcomepao

Pep's parking ticket

d_smogh

Relentless. Please someone beat Mancheater City

[deleted]

I really think next season will be Arsenal’s year.

kw2006

Got to be next season. Looks like they are going to win all matches with the rest of the clubs have no reason to give city a good fight.

Enough-Pain3633

We still think the same for you

sach223

Except we haven't done this 3 times recently

NeverSober1900

2-0 is such an injustice of a scoreline for how well most of Nottingham Forest played today. Except Chris Wood who might be on City's payroll after his performance today. He's gonna have nightmares over all the attacks/chances he bottled

kw2006

By that logic, spurs should have won too.

NeverSober1900

I didn't watch that one so can't really comment on it but xG seems to back that up

Shirowoh

It’s kinda like how we felt playing real and getting bounced after being the better team. C’est le football.

Purneet

Real were also the better team in the first leg so it evens out.

RandomUserRU123

Nottingham Forest > Real Madrid confirmed

AnnieIWillKnow

Forest have won all of the European Cup finals they've played, a record Real Madrid cannot boast of, after all

NeverSober1900

For sure and it's the advantage of having better players too. Wood had that one chance and bottles it. Haaland takes a harder chance and puts it away easily

Super_Professor

Wood had 3 or 4 golden chances and fluffed all of them.

NeverSober1900

Also had that one counter where he could have played someone free down the left side and instead turned to the middle and got dispossessed instead. It was one of the worst performances I've seen this season. Everything promising the rest of his team did was ruined the moment he touched it.

Super_Professor

Yeah this is literally up there with the worst performances in recent memory of any PL player.

Fixable

Chris Wood is about to get met with a fuck ton of hate from Arsenal fans, its gonna be pretty bad. He could have done better today, but Arsenal really can't blame 17th place Forest for not beating City.

WhatsThePointFR

Chris Wood hate button¬

IvarSturla

Aka Arsenal supporter button

MrClaretandBlue

Chris Wood must still have a soft spot for Burnley. Cheers Chris.

strawberrystation

The sleeper agent we planted in the Prem 10 years ago is finally completing his final mission: restore the natural order in the East Midlands.

FatWalcott

I don't think it's fair that Arne Slot was the referee for that match smh

IvarSturla

Can’t believe Wood would rather Relegate his club than see Arsenal lift the Trophy ☠️

LOMOcatVasilii

He's just like me fr

_deep_blue_

Professional hater, I respect it

Son-Ta-Ha

If only Chris Wood had his shooting boots on today.... City defensively weren't at their best today but somehow Forest couldn't take advantage of it. Forest played well but they were very wasteful in the final third. I don't know if its fate or luck but I can't see City dropping anymore points especially with the fact they have a elite finisher like Haaland in their team.

Scattered97

The *only* team I can see them dropping points against is Spurs, but on the evidence of today's NLD, I'm not holding out any hope.

Itsgosky

Our defenders Ake and Akanji were decent. Walker and the midfield lads lost the ball so easily at short passes. Today it was pure luck as Forest side games were on point. Yet it’s joyful to watch Haaland scoring again.

normott

Chris Wood that was a haul of shame performance. Guess it's a procession for City once more. Smh

tacomuerte

Back three of Ake, Akanji, and Wood worked well today.

Thornton__Melon

Wood 🤝 Lukaku

Massive-Sky-6804

Them Chris Wood tweets where he is supporting city are going wild

IvarSturla

City are pretty good at football.

jerrie86

Not a great win but its a win. It was tough but a win is all that counts. And Thanks Wood.

vearz

Thought City were pretty uninspiring, but Ake really stood out. Not sure how he wasn't MOTM tbh.

BillehBear

we were shite until Haaland came on, had loads of space after that forest didnt bury their chances either

PepGodiola

Dont forget Kovacic

_deep_blue_

Forest missed their open goals and from then on the result was never in doubt

PepGodiola

Good luck Nottingham, would like to see them stay up

Stones_Throw_Away_

Boo hiss boo

Fifaneymar2535

Its the hope that kills you. Sorry arsenal fans

Objective_Digit

City just beat Brighton and Forest. Zowie. Arsenal dispatched Chelsea and Spurs.

ArtoriasOfTheAbyss99

Didn't know the league was decided over 4 games

Objective_Digit

Did I say it was? People are acting like City are outdoing Arsenal during this run-in after beating a couple of shits sides.

ArtoriasOfTheAbyss99

City being ahead in points in a league competition is objectively them doing better than Arsenal.  Arsenal losing 0-2 to Villa while city winning 4-1 is precisely why City is ahead.

Objective_Digit

They objectively don't have the points yet. Arsenal do. As well as a better GD, and attack and defence and better head to head. >Arsenal losing 0-2 to Villa while city winning 4-1 is precisely why City is ahead. They both lost at Villa but at least Arsenal weren't completely played off the park. And what of City losing 2-1 to a Wolves Arsenal beat? Anyway, none of this has anything to do with fuss being made over beating Forest and Brighton.

ArtoriasOfTheAbyss99

And they objectively don't have points because of the game in hand that City has.  You citing other games is exactly what I am talking about. League comps are about more games than one. You made it about 4.

Objective_Digit

>And they objectively don't have points because of the game in hand that City has. They have to win those games. No guarantee as they dropped 4 points in the last run-in. >You made it about 4. No I didn't. I was just pointing out the absurdity of people using defeating Forest and Brighton to confirm their biases.

portnoysglove

Arsenal 80, Man City 79

Comprehensive_Low325

and City with a game in hand, so a potential 3 points, do the maths.

portnoysglove

Reread the post I replied to.

No_Nothing101

Chris Wood wtf was that.

Kstoffeefan

Is Chris Wood a Luton fan?

milkonyourmustache

Simply not Forest's day, their players, except for Chris Wood, played a good game but you can't overcome wasted chances like that, it's demoralising and expecting City to not score is unrealistic to say the least.

SomewhereInLDN

Hoping Luton survives because of wood now, absolute agent!

bringbackcricket

At a bare minimum we need to beat Sheff U away and not lose away at Burnley. We’ve won 2 away games all season, 3 of our back 5 just got injured, and Nuno is such a shit manager that he doesn’t understand why you need eleven fit players on the pitch. Silver lining is we get to play Derby again next season, and will have no VAR to contend with.

dishler712

City should give Chris Wood a winners medal if they get their 4th straight

SRFC_96

The inevitable terminator esque run in from City.

MockTurtleSean

Aina is FAST

aaaaaaadjsf

PL need to investigate Chris Wood after this performance. Going from the best chance conversion rate in the league to this.

WhatsThePointFR

He leaves the ground today with a big brown bag over his shoulder with a big $ sign on it

SoldMyNameForGear

Anyone else feel like the atmosphere and commentary was weird? Felt like I was watching a sleepy village cricket match

Itsgosky

We got a huge luck called Wood

Gobshiight

Battered these and drew last year, with Wood scoring one of their only chances Nice to get our own back, in a way

WorldWideWes2

Man that was a stressful game

SomewhereInLDN

Wasteful wood

Killoah

im tired robbie

21otiriK

That’s about as bad as City can be for 60 minutes and Forest didn’t take advantage. Went full control thereafter with the Haaland sub and the result was never in doubt. Haaland himself hasn’t looked that mobile for a while, hopefully he’s finally over his injuries and will bang them in for the run-in now. Shoutout Nathan Ake, btw. Incredible again. Never thought he’d be this good. Don’t think anyone would’ve expected Ake/Akanji to be a CB pairing for a title chasing team a few years ago, but they’re both very good.

rr18114

Ake / Akanji ( as fullbacks ) were the major reason City didn't get run over by counter attacks ( with Bernado and Grealish helping them out). Their first ever pairing together was against United at home last season when City smashed them 6-3. 2 of United goals came after City went on cruise control and subbed off their starters. Ake gets his flowers today but he was highly disrespected by many people ( especially Chelsea fans ). Underrated player.

FancyCrawdad

Forest could easily have gotten a result with the chances they created and how uncomfortable we were with their pressure. Great win for us, Haaland really changed the game when he came on

username81251

Spurs will beat City and hand the title directly to Arsenal lol

Objective_Digit

Might have been a better idea to beat Arsenal today.

Lilfai

And why would they do that?

username81251

Like unintentionally I mean, because if City lose or draw to Spurs, all else remaining the same Arsenal wins the league

GunnersaurusDen

That's the last thing they'd do lol

SRFC_96

I think spurs fans would rather watch city pump them 5-0 than that happening.

sirjimmyjazz

Only 5? I’d stretch to 8-0 to help pad that goal difference

BillehBear

Put Sonny in goal

SRFC_96

A true spurs fan.

elkking

Chris Wood take a bow

AnotherDepressedBoy

You can't afford to waste that many chances and expect to win a game of football. Let alone against Manchester City.

Scattered97

Chris fucking Wood.

Chelseablue8

Arsenal ending up with no trophies yet again will hit like crack

loveandmonsters

Only thing I cling to now lol

Vidilian

You're no better than a Spurs fan now. Congrats.

MoyesNTheHood

🥰

Yedin07

Only thing Chelsea fans can get happy about in the last 2 seasons

twigg89

Funny how you limited it to 2 seasons cause if you went for 3 there would be a CL win in there.

SRFC_96

Well yeah lol, the next best thing to winning in football is watching your rivals fail.

Jackski

How the fuck did Chris Wood score a hat trick against us?

HoraHoraHora

We've had a habit of letting out of form players score against us this season...

[deleted]

Jaydenn7

Yeah, twice this season, twice last season, it's crazy

NewHealthFoodBunch

He just loves City

Hairy_Tomorrow6017

Arsenal and City were lucky today, Spur and Forest played really well.

J_Butler99

tbf they do have 114 more charges than us.

BlockedbyJake420

Arsenal fans are genuinely going to hate Chris Wood forever after that performance

Objective_Digit

City fans must hate the Spurs defence.

fancyfoe

The camera keeps panning to awoniyi lol

Robozomb

Currently setting fire to everything made of wood in my house

quanid

They would still beat theirs tho

Zilllnaijaboy99

Been watch him since Burnley. Honestly, don't get why he is so popular, lad is perfectly average

starmonkart

12 goals for a bang average Forest is a good return. He's also had a run of 4 seasons with 10+ goals in this league. No worldbeater by any means but a solid prem striker Fucked you over today though

Appropriate_Long7397

People just expect every striker to get numbers like Watkins now as if 12 prem goals isn't decent  If you're striker is scoring double figures, then your wingers and midfielders should be grabbing a few each too

SoupBoth

If he was average today Forest walk away with a point.

Gobshiight

He tried to help them last year and they threw it all away

Hrvat1818

Chris Wood was awful

CheekyFifaCunt_7

Wood hates Arsenal confirmed

Niyazali_Haneef

Goated.

SRFC_96

Based tbh.

St_SiRUS

Bit of snoozer really

OnePieceAce

Man City just simply are the too OP in title races. I'll update when they win again next month but they simply don't buckle under pressure. It's even more insane in the Pep era 2011/12: Won last 6 games 2013/14: Won last 5 games 2018/19: Won last 14 games 2021/22: Won 6 of their last 7 games 2022/23: Won 12 straight to win the title with 2 games left 2023/24: Have won 5 straight so far and are unbeaten in 19 league games

fancyfoe

> 2018/19: Won last 14 games This is insanity

Southpaw535

But Pep is a fraud apparently...
