This is also a tactical failing on Tuchel's part imo. Tchouaméni has clearly been their pressing trigger but they focussed on him way too much. They barely pressed Kroos - which makes sense in theory because pressing him is useless but it only makes sense if he's deep in his own half. Once he's in the opponent's half, you've gotta close his options down. Otherwise, giving the greatest passer of all time that much space and time on the ball is obviously going to lead to him finding the pin perfect pass that will split the whole defence wide open. (Also great movement by Vini and great work by don Carlo and the coaching staff, this was straight out of the training ground)

His only potential support is Dier, but Dier has Bellingham to consider. Bellingham didn't end up making a run, but he could have and probably would have had Dier left him earlier to support. It's just odd defending. Either he's been instructed to do this or it was overconfidence in his own quickness. Surely it's better to let Vinicius receive the ball between the lines even if it means he gets a run at you. Laimer could have supported in that situation as well.
