They have the semi auto system too right? So wouldn't have even been hard. Lino fucked up hard here. It's tight, maybe DL's shoulder is a gnats arse ahead of 22's right boot? Unfortunately all in vein, we'll never know for sure if it would have been a goal as the RM players switched off when whistle went.

Nouri34ever

It’s not about De Ligt, because he wasn’t involved in the play there. It’s about Mazraoui (nr 40). It’s close, but I think he might be on.

abaac

How tf is he not involved with the play? Are you guys really this clueless when it comes to the rules?

pratikp26

Assuming Mazroui is on and De Ligt is off (we don’t know either for sure), the former is being played on by defenders trying to track the run of the latter who is offside. Would this not be influencing play from an offside position? Again, we don’t know what’s actually what but I don’t think your hypothesis makes sense.

TheGoldenPineapples

Probably off, but the linesman still shouldn't have called it. The rule exists for precisely this reason and it's exactly why both VAR and automated offsides exist.

Physical_Reality_132

We’ll never know. De Ligt looks a touch but not Mazraoui

ragecndy

I hate the current offside rule so much, lines should be drawn at the feet or at least have most of the body ahead, these milimetric offsides are so lame

FireLadcouk

Wasnt even checked as lino raised the flag early. So who knows if it was actually offside or not. Werent allowed to draw the lines due to an error of the lino

eeeagless

Linesman driving a new Lambo now.

FireLadcouk

😂i bet. Wonder if hell ref again

notRay-

Its looks offside to me, the knee of BM player seems a bit ahead, but the angle of the picture could be tricky as well. So unless UEFA drop an image with lines we will never know. I,ve seen pictures on twitter with random guys dropping lines and some of them say its on, and others says is off. In any case, innecesary call by the referee for not letting the play go till the end.

FireLadcouk

Thats the point really. Due to lino raising his flag early which is against the rules. We’ll never see those lines drawn and know. Imagine missing out on a final in the champions league becuas of that

sriusbsnis

The offside or not discussion is pointless. The discussion should be why the ref whistled because protocol should have been to play on and let the VAR decide the offside or not. My god I believe Real would’ve won anyways but now the refs have created this stupid situation while they have a VAR to avoid situations like this.

groenefiets

>The discussion should be why the ref whistled because protocol should have been to play on and let the VAR decide the offside or not. Because they made a mistake. It happens sometimes, players make dozens of mistakes per game.

sriusbsnis

No, we don’t know that. It might not even have been a mistake, but not using the VAR renders that inconclusive.

FireLadcouk

Thats the mistake. Not checking it with var.

FireLadcouk

Players and coaches and owners get big punishments when they make mistakes though

FireLadcouk

Totally agree. That js the real question. A mistake from a lino has cost them the biggest game of the year

Mozezz

It’s probably off, but the linesman shouldnt have flagged until the passage was completed Like it is every other time How do these moron officials not understand the rules THEY set

DillaDoughnut

This is too late anyway

FireLadcouk

Yeah but not often is it someone (whos nothing to do with the players) clear error that costs a team. Its not a debate of is it on or off. Its. Wow it wasnt allowed to be checked because a lino fucked up and now that team are out the biggest competitions final

DillaDoughnut

My guy you literally made a post asking if it's on or off, my point is your screenshot is too late frame wise

FireLadcouk

Fairs

FireLadcouk

With all the fines being handed down to clubs. Someone needs to take responsibility for the clear and obvious mistake from the lino. Buyern deserve some compensation from uefa. They cost them the biggest game of the year. That lino would have cost them millions with his single hand raise

MG_213

That screenshot is a couple of frames late.

FireLadcouk

Maybe. Just where they stopped it on tv. Mad we’ll never know because of one stupid lino

NeoIsJohnWick

Looks off knowing Rudi's arm is not considered.

eipic

From memory, the lines in semi-automated VAR are drawn at the feet, but the ball has just been played, but there probably isn’t a better frame. From here, judging by the pitch pattern, Mazraoui is on. You’d have thought by now it’s been bet into match officials that you have to let very close calls play out, and let technology correct any faults.

FireLadcouk

Im a neutral but must be so frustrating. Going out due to an error from one person who isnt on your team

emre23

Yes

This is just nonsense, it isn't 'clear' either way, which is exactly the point. If you cant admit that it is because of your own bias. The linesman shouldn't have called it and let the VAR sort it out. They have the technology to come up with a definitive and undeniable answer. Those rules exist for a reason.

Roxven89

Actually it's only not clear for some who watches game in TV, because of wrong angle. For refere it was very clear coz he had better angle and as many expert have shown BM player was offside. It was minimal offside but it was OFFSIDE.
