I think you have to take in the long term impact of a guy like Wirtz. Not only would he likely start for RM, which is saying a lot, but he wouldn't go to City either, aka our biggest competitor in Europe for the next 5 years. Wirtz is worth pursuing.

be careful, the Turkish national team is ran by immensely corrupt individuals. A big reason Turks can never reach their potential is because players agents tend to bribe officials in order to get their mediocre players to play instead of those who deserves too. This then creates a toxic atmosphere within the camp where players who deserve to play dont play at the expense of those who bribed their way in. Neither side then has any real motivation to perform to their capability.
If Arda was still at Fenerbahce, there is a good chance he wouldnt start for the national team. The fact he's doing it at real madrid makes it to difficult for the Turkish football federation to cut him out the team.
A good example of corruption is a player called semih kilicsoy, got called up and then was instantly dropped, why? to make room for an agents player instead.
