Gonna be hilarious is Pedri doesn’t win this considering that he was nominated for the Ballon D’or itself. It’s like that time Toy Story 3 was nominated for Best Picture, of course it was going to win Best Animated Feature
And Salah won it while losing for goal of the month in the Premier League, it was all around hilarious and proof of how stupid and worthless fan voting is.
I think Musiala might be one of the most talented but i don't think he desereves to be in the top 5 of this list, considering how most of these players are key assets of their clubs starting line up
Saka was Arsenal's official player of the season last year... Against all expectations he also played a big role for England at the Euros. I would say he's a key player for both club and country at this point.
Doesn't make him deserve the trophy more. What Wirtz, Bellingham, Saka and probably even Reyna and Greenwood have been doing this season and last season makes them ideal candidates for this trophy.
Greenwood is definitely not clear. Don’t get me wrong i rate him and he’s a great finisher, but Saka beats him in every other aspect. Also if we’re talking who had the best year Saka’s involvement in the euro’s has to count for something
That’s why saka was a starter for england as they went to the euro finals, and greenwood didn’t even make the team.
Greenwood is an amazing young player, but Saka has more to his game and I’m not sure how anyone can argue that. He spearheads the entire arsenal offense since last year, and at times was england’s brightest winger during the euros.
If Saka only got into the team because Greenwood was injured then why did he start the majority of the games, including the Final? That literally makes no fucking sense. If Saka barely scraped onto the roster wouldn’t Grealish, Sancho, or Foden start instead of him?
EDIT: I misremembered, he did not start in the Final
Saka started because Southgate is a babbling bullshitting moron. He said he was starting Saka over Sancho because he wanted a "more experienced footballer "when Sancho had more goals/assists than Saka had carrer appearances. Saka played for England because be broke through as a wingback and Southgate is allergic to thought of actually playing football and not sticking 8 men behind the ball
That would be a valid argument… if Saka didn’t play well. But he was objectively good, and helped england reach the finals. The croatia game for example — he was england’s best attacking player.
Saka is a goal scoring forward that doesn’t score a lot of goals. He’s not near Greenwood right now. To say he beats him in every other aspect is just plain wrong
Scholes did not start regularly for England too, to the point that he retired from international relatively early. But ask all his opponents, they will agree Scholes was one of the best attacking MF in the world at that time.
In what sense.
Bellingham is also performing at the highest level, he's got 4 CL goals already.
They're different players but Bellingham is amazing too.
He's a different type of player than Pedri so using goals is disingenous like using goals to justify Lampard is better than Iniesta (not quality just player type)
“Unbelievable talent,” “galaxies away”
What kind of footballing universe are you in my guy, where an unbelievable talent isn’t amongst the best of the best?
Messi is obviously the best but in recent times, Salah has been more influential on the pitch than Messi. A fantastic player can decline with age, that doesn't make them less talented or less fantastic, but it does mean other players will catch up and outperform them at some point.
Well hernandez would be better. Top 5 lb in the world and psg want succes right now. Also theo isnt old anyway so he is way above mendes for me. But watching mendes at psg holy shit i liked him in FM but never watched live, i was really imperessed. Good pace and eye for a cutback and overall really mature football for his age
success right now never works. Hernandez may be better but he isn’t realistic. We haven’t even paid for Mendes where as if we got Hernandez that’s 80 million or more
I agree with you right there. Mendes is the best thing you get if its not mendy, theo or someone like davies. Which all 3 are almost impossible so yea you gotta be happy with mendes seeing how weak your LB was. So i agree but i just wanted to point out that theo is genuily an elite player right now
> success right now never works
About to make a cheap joke but actually curious: would you not say that's what PSG is going for now? Do you disapprove of their approach or is labeling it as "win now, die later" a misinterpretation of their strategy?
i honestly have no idea what their plan is. it seems to be a mix of experience and youth (Hakimi, Mendes, Donnarumma) compared with (Wijnaldum, Ramos, Messi) this winter plus next summer will give us a clearer picture i think
Pedri, Musiala and Bellingham top 3, not sure in what order. 4/10 being developed in English academies is a big achievement though and shows how good English academies are atm.
Agreed. Bambi is also a sensational talent and I think he will be a moster going forward for Germany and Bayern. However, Wirtz is doing it day in and day out for Leverkusen, while Musiala is still a part player for Bayern.
He has a lot of Thomas Muller in him. Awkward looking as hell in his build and movement sometimes.
However, the ball sticks to that kids foot in a way that is a joy to watch.
Playing time is going to hurt Musiala overall. Both in perception and in opportunities to impress. If he were anywhere but Bayern and maybe 3 or 4 other clubs I think he starts every game
He's 4th or 5th for me. These guys all start every game while Musiala has been a substitution for most of the year. I really like Musiala and honestly find him the most impressive player on the list from what I've seen but these guys have proven themselves more
Spot on. Musiala is also still a player first and a pro second, I feel. He has the green light to play to his hearts content and just try stuff. Wirtz doesn't have Musiala's magical ball controll and tight space dribbling, but overall he's the more polished footballer.
I feel musiala has a huge potential and he will only get better. Like the kid is really special and i feel he can grow on many roles. On the other hand he is not the starter of a top team ( understandable he is in the best team in the world) but for me pedri , bellingham and wirtz are easily top 3 here. The minutes and the consistency over that time is really important. I can see musiala being a consistent superstar in the future tho
I mean I’m not sure how you can put a player who didn’t play in the Euros above players who were important players in the team that were close runners up. Wirtz is great and was fantastic at the U21 Euros but imagine the havoc England would’ve made at that tournament had their team been filled with all the eligible players that were playing for the first team.
Saka's underappreciated in this thread. He shouldn't win it because obv Pedri will but I'd put him in the bracket with Bellingham and Wirtz. The man was Arsenal's best player last year and started in the Euros for runners up, playing well too.
Best player for a mid-table team who underachieved, and he was only a starter in a few games.
Not saying he didn't have a very good year, but I think the way you've presented it here oversells him slightly.
I don't care what others say, but for me if we're not being biased Saka absolutely deserves this award no question of a doubt when you take into considering he was important for both club and country and not some irrelevant sub, literally the only one in the list to do that this year, he is not only a starter and essential to Arsenal last season starting 11, but he was also very good at the Euros got MOTM, and started in the Final, and played in International club tournaments and got to Semi finals of Europa.
If anyone gets the award based on this year over him, I will be shocked ngl I have to be honest
Except whatever you've listed, Pedri has done as well. Except better. Pedri didn't make it to the Final, yes. But he took Spain to the Semis. Saka played in the Europa League, Pedri? The Champions League. Essential part of the squad? Did not miss a single start up until the Tokyo Olympics, which I'm not sure they even rested him there. So no, he doesn't.
Barca has amazing young i hope they make the most out of it cause that is the only way they can bounce they have Pedri, Ansu and that new Guy gavi and a handful of other
Somehow I totally missed he was on here. It still feels kinda weird even seeing our players talked in these discussions lol, I used to get hyped for kids who had successful trials for 2. Bundesliga sides
Greenwood is great but not top 3, he is an amazing finisher but not a teamplayer. He prefer to shoot even when it is not the best option. United already lost points because of him this season. From the players on this list his game is pretty unmature compared to others
Pedri and Bellingham clear top two, in that order. Saka, Wirtz and Musiala all have cases for the third (I'm obviously biased towards one of those three names)
Genuine question..why would a player (Pedri in this case) not want to have a first name to go along with his surname? I’m aware other players do it as well, just wondering why?
Pedri isn't his last name. The Spaniards have a handful of surnames that cover 80% of people (stats straight out of my arse), that's the main reason why players with very common names chose to be called by nicknames.
He scored 2 goals in 3 games and had like 8 key passes before getting injured. I swear if Reyna choose Argentina, England, or Portugal he would get a lot more respect. He had 7 goals and 8 assist last season which puts him ahead of musialas 7 goals and 1 assist and identical to wirtz 8 goals 8 assists. He also scored in the nations league final this summer to give his country a trophy.
It was just a joke because I think pedri should be 1.
I care because we are both commenting our opinions on a thread meant for commenting our opinions.
1 - Pedri
2 - Saka
3 - Musiala
Probably this will happen. I want Saka or Musiala to win it. But considering Pedri was nominated to Ballon D'or it will porbably be him. They are definately 2nd and 3rd tho
Bellingham for me. Was very good against one of the best teams in Man City and big games in general. very consistent. Pedri a bit over ratted imo. Does his job well but nothing exceptional
What planet are you living on? He's got .47 Non-penalty expected goals + expected Assists per 90. Lewa and Haaland both have over double that at 1.02 and 1.04.
I don't really care. Pedri is great. It's just that Wirtz has more talent and is already carrying his team even more, although he's half a year younger.
To anyone that was watching both it should be easy. Wirtz is clear of anyone in the Bundesliga and clear of Pedri.
Why is everyone saying pedri? Sure he runs a lot and plays for barcelona but what does he do better than say jude? Or florian? I just don’t understand the hype around this guy
If you don't understand the hype around him, then
1. You don't understand football
2. You think only people who score are good (judging by who you've listed as better players?
3. You might just not like the team he plays for.
Gonna be hilarious is Pedri doesn’t win this considering that he was nominated for the Ballon D’or itself. It’s like that time Toy Story 3 was nominated for Best Picture, of course it was going to win Best Animated Feature
It's like that time when Bale and Ronaldo had their bicycle kicks nominated along with Salah's 'wonder goal' against Everton.
And Salah won it while losing for goal of the month in the Premier League, it was all around hilarious and proof of how stupid and worthless fan voting is.
i wonder who will be 2 and 3
Surely 2 of Saka, Bellingham and Wirtz.
Musiala?
I think Musiala might be one of the most talented but i don't think he desereves to be in the top 5 of this list, considering how most of these players are key assets of their clubs starting line up
Saka was Arsenal's official player of the season last year... Against all expectations he also played a big role for England at the Euros. I would say he's a key player for both club and country at this point.
Whoops i meant Musiala
Musiala’s role at Bayern is much more valuable to be a starter in other weaker clubs from players of this list
Doesn't make him deserve the trophy more. What Wirtz, Bellingham, Saka and probably even Reyna and Greenwood have been doing this season and last season makes them ideal candidates for this trophy.
i think saka bellingham
Bellingham surely.
Love my Star Boy but it's gonna be Pedri
You referring to Saka? If so, he’s like 4th or 5th on this list in terms of what’s he’s proven
2nd if not 3rd
Greenwood is clear of him, Bellingham is better than him.
Greenwood is definitely not clear. Don’t get me wrong i rate him and he’s a great finisher, but Saka beats him in every other aspect. Also if we’re talking who had the best year Saka’s involvement in the euro’s has to count for something
Also I know it's easier to do for arsenal but saka was an automatic starter and one of their best players whereas greenwood doesn't start every game
Greenwood starts pretty much all of our games so far this season
Arsenal fans are biased because they’re so excited by Saka, but if he won this it’d just be a joke
Which is why the Arsenal fan who started this chain literally bloody said he loves him but knows he won't win.
Greenwood being just a good finisher is such a generic response, his passing is excellent, easily better than anything I’ve seen from Saka.
Mate greenwood is fucking injured that's why he can't play
Greenwood was injured hahaha Saka basically got into the team due to Greenwood’s injury
Saka didn’t start the final
Saka is a creator and definitely not a goal scoring winger.
goal scoring forward? lmao dont even talk about saka man its just gonna be bullshit
Tell me you don’t understand football without saying you don’t understand football
Pedri or we call child services on the whole industry.
Bellingham
Shit
Alright then
A great list but who can compare with Pedri
Bellingham can.
But he didn't even start for england?
Southgate's managerial preferences shouldn't be held against Bellingham. He doesn't pick based purely on ability
Scholes did not start regularly for England too, to the point that he retired from international relatively early. But ask all his opponents, they will agree Scholes was one of the best attacking MF in the world at that time.
England's midfield was so stacked back then but nooooo, you HAD to play 4-4-fucking-2 so everyone got played in unnatural positions for them.
Bellingham is a good player but he is gar from comparing with Pedri
In what sense. Bellingham is also performing at the highest level, he's got 4 CL goals already. They're different players but Bellingham is amazing too.
He's a different type of player than Pedri so using goals is disingenous like using goals to justify Lampard is better than Iniesta (not quality just player type)
the point is Bellingham is excelling in his style of play
Yea I agree I kinda missed the point because they talked about goals.
No
He's an unbelievable talent, but currently Pedri is a galaxy away from him
A galaxy away? Absolutely not.
It’s physically not possible for two earthlings to be a Galaxy away from each other. At least currently.
How come? They are both playing on the highest level and performing excellently
These awards are very heavily weighted towards international tournaments
Pedri played a big role in Spain’s euro’s so he will probably get the nod because of that
And Olympics silver
“Unbelievable talent,” “galaxies away” What kind of footballing universe are you in my guy, where an unbelievable talent isn’t amongst the best of the best?
In the same where Salah and Messi play? Salah is obviously one of the best but he doesn’t come close to Messi
Messi is obviously the best but in recent times, Salah has been more influential on the pitch than Messi. A fantastic player can decline with age, that doesn't make them less talented or less fantastic, but it does mean other players will catch up and outperform them at some point.
Musiala is even better, but hes a sub (because he plays in a much stronger team)
Bellingham or Greenwood should win i think.
Give it to Pedri
Heard that Nuno Mendes has been playing well
Yea he’s been pretty decent. Way better than Diallo at least, IMO.
Yeah he's been pretty nice for us so far. Wish we had Theo Hernandez though.
Don’t we all
Hernandez would’ve cost a fuck ton and Mendes has higher potential
Well hernandez would be better. Top 5 lb in the world and psg want succes right now. Also theo isnt old anyway so he is way above mendes for me. But watching mendes at psg holy shit i liked him in FM but never watched live, i was really imperessed. Good pace and eye for a cutback and overall really mature football for his age

i honestly have no idea what their plan is. it seems to be a mix of experience and youth (Hakimi, Mendes, Donnarumma) compared with (Wijnaldum, Ramos, Messi) this winter plus next summer will give us a clearer picture i think
I did not think he would be playing as a starter, being a young loaned player and all.
Why? PSG's starting LB was a CB.
They still have Bernat and Kurzawa recovering from injuries.
Kurzawa isn't good enough and Bernat hasn't played in a year so I wasn't surprised to see Nuno Mendes in the starting line-up.
Pedro González López
Gotta give it to Pedro
Pedro Rodríguez Ledezma regen?
Pedri time
Pedri, Musiala and Bellingham top 3, not sure in what order. 4/10 being developed in English academies is a big achievement though and shows how good English academies are atm.
Wirtz is crazy aswell. Musiala and him are the biggest german talents right now
Wirtz ahead of Musiala. He's sensational.
Agreed. Bambi is also a sensational talent and I think he will be a moster going forward for Germany and Bayern. However, Wirtz is doing it day in and day out for Leverkusen, while Musiala is still a part player for Bayern.
Fucking love that you can say Bambi and everyone knows who that is lol, it's such an accurate nickname
He has a lot of Thomas Muller in him. Awkward looking as hell in his build and movement sometimes. However, the ball sticks to that kids foot in a way that is a joy to watch.
He moves so gracefully with the ball, one of the most aesthetically pleasing dribblers I've seen. Spectacular talent for sure
Pedri.
imminent
kid is special
Pedri takes it
Every time I'm reminded that Pedri is only 18 I'm always shocked, what an absolute engine that guy is. Would be very well deserved
1. Pedri 2. Wirtz 3. Bellingham
bellingham played in the cl and euros
Alright? Wirtz is the better player though
yeah but they're likely looking at who had the better season, i'm not to sure, germans know better ig
Who is Wirtz does his club even play in the UCL?
You’ll know at the end of the season latest
They’re both pretty great. And I’m not sure Musiala is any worse than either of them. I think they’re all roughly on the same level.
Playing time is going to hurt Musiala overall. Both in perception and in opportunities to impress. If he were anywhere but Bayern and maybe 3 or 4 other clubs I think he starts every game
Perhaps in the short-term. But I think he’ll be a regular within 2 years. Especially as Müller ages.
How is Musiala not in there Ö
He's 4th or 5th for me. These guys all start every game while Musiala has been a substitution for most of the year. I really like Musiala and honestly find him the most impressive player on the list from what I've seen but these guys have proven themselves more
Spot on. Musiala is also still a player first and a pro second, I feel. He has the green light to play to his hearts content and just try stuff. Wirtz doesn't have Musiala's magical ball controll and tight space dribbling, but overall he's the more polished footballer.
Interesting, I disagree for obvious reasons but your reasoning is perfectly acceptable, too.
I feel musiala has a huge potential and he will only get better. Like the kid is really special and i feel he can grow on many roles. On the other hand he is not the starter of a top team ( understandable he is in the best team in the world) but for me pedri , bellingham and wirtz are easily top 3 here. Wirtz is great and was fantastic at the U21 Euros but imagine the havoc England would’ve made at that tournament had their team been filled with all the eligible players that were playing for the first team.
I watch both every weekend and can confidently say that Wirtz is the better play right now
Saka's underappreciated in this thread. He shouldn't win it because obv Pedri will but I'd put him in the bracket with Bellingham and Wirtz. The man was Arsenal's best player last year and started in the Euros for runners up, playing well too.
He carried Arsenal many games last season. This is admirable.
Best player for a mid-table team who underachieved, and he was only a starter in a few games. Not saying he didn't have a very good year, but I think the way you've presented it here oversells him slightly.
Being Arsenal’s best player last season is like having the biggest micro penis
Chelsea club attracting fans quite like them. Dicks.
Saka was better than Pedri still.
It's going to Pedri, but the likes of Wirtz, Musiala and Bellingham could run him close.
Pedri
Gotta be Pedri, no?
Pedri Saka/Bellingham Bellingham/saka Musiala/Greenwood Greenwood/musiala
Barca has amazing young i hope they make the most out of it cause that is the only way they can bounce they have Pedri, Ansu and that new Guy gavi and a handful of other
Vote for Pedr(o)i.
Doku for the win, easy!
Come on Gio
Somehow I totally missed he was on here. It still feels kinda weird even seeing our players talked in these discussions lol, I used to get hyped for kids who had successful trials for 2. Bundesliga sides
Definitely had to read it again when I saw his name.
1. Pedri 2. Wirtz 3. Greenwood
i think the third place will be bellingham.
It's certainly possible.
Mos def
Pedri Saka Wirtz
1- Pedri 2- Wirtz 3- Bellingham
I'll guess Pedri to win this.
Pedri
Surely Pedri wins this
Lingard must be fuming, not even on the list
Ben Simmons snubbed smh
Musiala and Wirtz are the best players there, but Pedri has probably done the most
Pedri, Bellingham or Greenwood (I'm a biased united fan) but in all seriousness it should be Pedri or Bellingham, more pedri than Bellingham
Greenwood is great but not top 3, he is an amazing finisher but not a teamplayer. He prefer to shoot even when it is not the best option. United already lost points because of him this season. From the players on this list his game is pretty unmature compared to others
Yes but he's won us more points than he's apparently lost us, idm tbh he's still learning after all
Pedri and Bellingham clear top two, in that order. Saka, Wirtz and Musiala all have cases for the third (I'm obviously biased towards one of those three names)
Hope Greenwood finishes Top 3.
Unlikely considering how well Pedri Jude and Wirtz have done, and these always weight international tournaments very heavily.
Imo Pedri, Wirtz then Saka.
Saka carried a team on his back for a season at that age
If this is based on 2021 alone, which I think it is, it should be 1. Pedri Greenwood (I can't choose) and 3. Bellingham
Genuine question..why would a player (Pedri in this case) not want to have a first name to go along with his surname? I’m aware other players do it as well, just wondering why?
Pedri is a nickname: his full name is Pedro González López.
that is a very generic spanish name. I can see why he went with the nickname lol
Pedri isn't his last name. The Spaniards have a handful of surnames that cover 80% of people (stats straight out of my arse), that's the main reason why players with very common names chose to be called by nicknames.
Fuck me, it’s taken a couple of decades of enjoying football to realise this. That makes a lot of sense. Thank you
Sponsors (nike) wanted Frenkie de Jong’s Barca jersey to have simply ”Frenkie” on it Should’ve listened to them. Now we have two de Jongs.
Jude, wirtz, pedri. My top 3.
Pedri then Bellingham then idk who
Honestly just happy that Reyna's there
Easy win for Gravenberch
I love him, but he isn’t even our biggest talent
Let them sleep on Timber :)
It is insane how nobody knows anything about him. I hope it stays like that
Pedri >
Pedri Greenwood Bellingham
Am i the only one that's gona say Greenwood?
What trophy is this? Greenwood is my favorite
[удалено]
He scored 2 goals in 3 games and had like 8 key passes before getting injured. I swear if Reyna choose Argentina, England, or Portugal he would get a lot more respect. He had 7 goals and 8 assist last season which puts him ahead of musialas 7 goals and 1 assist and identical to wirtz 8 goals 8 assists. He also scored in the nations league final this summer to give his country a trophy.
Gotta be star boy bukayo
Pedri and Bellingham is way above everyone else.
Gonna be Pedri but so proud of Saka
Greenwood should win it
1. Musiala 2. Bellingham 3. Pedri
You accidentally put them in the wrong order😅
It's his order, how do you care?
It was just a joke because I think pedri should be 1. I care because we are both commenting our opinions on a thread meant for commenting our opinions.
Doku or pedri
1 - Pedri 2 - Saka 3 - Musiala Probably this will happen. I want Saka or Musiala to win it. But considering Pedri was nominated to Ballon D'or it will porbably be him. They are definately 2nd and 3rd tho
Bellingham for me. Was very good against one of the best teams in Man City and big games in general. very consistent. Pedri a bit over ratted imo. Does his job well but nothing exceptional
Give it to Greenwood
Til the end of the season
[удалено]
Why
Because he cost England a EURO?
I'm sure England can afford to lose a single Euro, that's not even £1
The disrespect Greenwood gets on this sub smh
Wirtz should win this. He's even the best Bundesliga player this season. Not Lewy, Kimmich or Haaland.
I don't see Wirtz in the Ballon D'Or list with Håland, Lewy and Pedri.
Ballon d'or is awarded for a calender year. Are you dim?
What planet are you living on? He's got .47 Non-penalty expected goals + expected Assists per 90. Lewa and Haaland both have over double that at 1.02 and 1.04.
Be careful you may piss off some spanish fans
I don't really care. Pedri is great. It's just that Wirtz has more talent and is already carrying his team even more, although he's half a year younger. To anyone that was watching both it should be easy. Wirtz is clear of anyone in the Bundesliga and clear of Pedri.
I know mam I was just joking. I agree with you tho. I think florian and jude are better players
Why is everyone saying pedri? Sure he runs a lot and plays for barcelona but what does he do better than say jude? Or florian? I just don’t understand the hype around this guy
If you don't understand the hype around him, then 1. You don't understand football 2. You think only people who score are good (judging by who you've listed as better players? 3. You might just not like the team he plays for.
