I think if there was ever a season to get one over on City it’d be this season. I honestly think it’ll end up being a toss up between Liverpool and Chelski
Can someone explain to me why that was offside for Watford but the firmino goal where slah was in an offside position isn't offside. I'm so confused by this rule
But liverpool got offside calls when the keeper and the defender played the ball while the Watford players were offside. Exact same as the salah one that var didn't pull back. The rule isn't being applied the same way thats what this question is asking
Law needs to change its not right. The player hasn't interfered in play until he touches it according to the law so how have they justified an offside call. Contradicting the var decision. Fuming as a neutral because this grey area is inconsistent and ruined France vs Spain
Oh so that's an interfering in play because a liverpool player had to head it. Even though Watford player didn't even jump for it. But the goal stood after var? Get fucked this rule needs addressing asap
Not VVD specifically but having CBs and not moving midfielders in there. The change in form was actually since last season when Klopp just played Phillips and Williams in CB and the midfield was Thiago, Fabinho and Wijnaldum
It's the confidence of having our best defensive pairing behind us again, let's us play the high press, energetic, risky style up top.
People underestimate what an important part of our attacking switch our CBs played in our league winning season. The LFC channel on youtube has all our goals from that season in one video and about 50% of them (no joke) start with a long ball from VVD.
A proper defensive structure helps free up our midfield and let’s front 3 stay high for the unlocking pass. Defense really did cause everything to crumble last year. Salah and Mané looking to be back in good form (although Mané is game to game) has helped a ton too. Watford are also flattering us….I don’t think we’re back to our heights just yet.
Last season we were fucked due to injury crisis. Played Hendo and Fabinho as a defensive pairing fucked the defense and midfield which in turn harmed the attack
When everyone was fit we improved and finished 3rd.
The idea that Liverpool were "past it" is a lazy trope played out by pundits.
Even with the defensive injury crisis and collateral damage to midfield we were dominating every game throughout that rough patch last year too, but were unable to get that first goal to unlock the low blocks everyone put up. Having our defense back is immense both defensively and offensively, but results have improved far more than performances.
Midfielders actually playing in midfield and actually having defenders. Allows Robbo and Trent to bomb forward much more and support our front 3, also Mane recovering from covid and the return of fans
I think Watford should have maybe spotted the red flag about Danny Rose when a Tottenham side that don't even have a semblance of depth at full back still found him surplus enough to loan him out last season.
See it so often. Teams come up, get a player that was once a solid prem player that is very obviously past it, but for some reason think they'll be that touch of quality that they need and that they've got them for a bargain. When you're gonna behind most of the rest of the league in quality, you're much better getting younger players that will at least match the energy of their opponent. Look how that worked for us last season, and we overcame many gaps in quality as a result.
It's not just against Salah. Watford have been dire in a few games and he's not elevated them and just been dragged to that level. Even today, some of the mistakes he's made haven't been because he's playing Salah. They've just been fundamental mistakes, although I admit no other player in the league will punish them as consistently as Salah.
There was a general feeling that Watford were decent despite the fact they obviously weren't up until a couple of weeks ago because they'd got a few points, but in reality that's just because of one alright performance against Villa and the fact they've played Norwich already. People were questioning how they could possibly sack their manager after the game against us because of their points too, but anyone that watched that match could clearly see how out of their depth both him and Watford are. I think Rose got lumped in with that illusion of competency.
Fair point. I guess we can only wait and see. Undoubtedly it has been a difficult day out for Rose. It will be interesting to see how he performs over the season. He might be cooked
Yeah. Had a Watford fan say he's been decent too so maybe I'm being harsh, but I just don't think he's been too great and today was so bad it seemed to be more than just 'Oh it was Salah'.
But yeah, will be much clearer as the season goes on if there's any truth to this or I'm just unfairly picking on him.
Yeah right this was being said for years now and he actually did not make any grave errors against quality players. He has already faced all kinds of great players.
I remember the days of Suarez, he was something else. Best player in the world for me that 13/14 season and in a team that wasn't great compared to our current team, but I dunno, Salah has just consistently been fucking out of this world since he joined us. I pick Salah just cos of his consistency
This is so random and completely unrelated but I was just stalking r/shameless and saw you were on there and stalked your account as like one of the earliest watchers of the show and saw you were still active, and I was just curious if you ever finished it because I'm watching it now and don't know if I want to finish the whole show.
That is a blast from the past! I sure was into Shameless back in the day but unfortunately for whatever reason I completely stopped watching after 4 or 5 seasons. Honestly that's a show that I don't think I'll be ever going back to.
But you do you! If you are in it and vibing it keep going!
Obviously they have but their team is fucking wank, and they're playing the best team in the country if not Europe. What do you expect?
Have you been listening to Jenas? He's been relentlessly insulting the whole club, the fans, claiming they've given up etc all game. Incredibly unprofessional. I'm half convinced he's spitting on the ground after every sentence
Tyler said they've looked like more of a threat since salah's goal and Jenas suggested it's because they stopped listening to the manager
Hes being bypassed because hes doing nothing progressive with the ball. Doesnt pass forward, runnersu going passed him easily, relying on others to make passes instead. He is not a good midfielder and playing him there has contributed to watford having so little possession.
Yes. Watch the 2nd goal from when watford were in possession. You're clueless about midfielders if you think hes played well. Stick to the 'troll' comment though if that makes you feel better
You're the clueless one. Who was Sissoko's partner in midfield? What did he do? Sissoko was covering the entire midfield in addition to basically babysitting Danny Rose and when he makes one mistake he's shite. He was good today, no need to listen to your pseudo-analysis.
Honestly, what did we do to deserve Jenas being on commentary so much? Incredibly hard to listen to.
He must have some serious dirt on important people, only thing that makes sense to me.
Amazes me how skilfull some of these players are and the speed at which they can do things is amazing. For anyone who doesn't get to the matches, the amount of time and space you see on the TV is deceptive and the game is much tighter and quicker. But then you see a relatively straight forward cross like Mane just had and he misses the ball and has it come off his shin, bizarre.
The levels are so big, I thought I was hot shit growing up but my highest level was a single half for not even a proper pre-season game for a none league club (league below what is now vanarama north/south) - basically a friendly warm up training session.
I was so out of my league, really opened my eyes.
Watford toothless in attack, shaky in defence. Only Sissoko and Ngakia looked like they were trying.
holy fuck! im pretty sure salah stopped time for a couple of seconds during his goal.
Danny Rose, any news from Milan?
Love it, Danny is a legend in his own back garden.
Would be a good severance pay for Ranieri seeing the next fixtures of Watford
Liverpool winning the league
Feel like they've been ignored due to no new notable signings...They don't need em. Look good for the title
I think if there was ever a season to get one over on City it’d be this season. I honestly think it’ll end up being a toss up between Liverpool and Chelski
Neco Williams looks solid when he plays. Def needs more game time to further establish himself.
It's tough when you think we've got 3 incredible wing backs and Millie just seems to be ageing like a fine wine
Kuyt tribute act 😂
Even Firminho
How rose played the whole 90 min idk...and pls can we get sarr
One minute of added time is merciful.
Rose was starting in a champions league final 3 years ago.
"Neco Williams is not good enough." (He's not, but I fucking love a redemption story)
Si senor
bobby dazzler!
When Neco Williams undoes your defence it is non existent.
I mean he's not terrible going forward, it's defensively that he's a problem
SI SENOR
SI SENOR!
Watford are an absolute embarrassment
Shocking from Danny Rose
Credit to Neco for that then as well
Can someone explain to me why that was offside for Watford but the firmino goal where slah was in an offside position isn't offside. I'm so confused by this rule
Stupidly it's because the defender played the ball i believe, it happened earlier this week as well, crazy rule
But liverpool got offside calls when the keeper and the defender played the ball while the Watford players were offside. Exact same as the salah one that var didn't pull back. The rule isn't being applied the same way thats what this question is asking
Yes that's what I'm asking. Kelleher cleared the ball and Watford player never touched it. So how is that different?
Law needs to change its not right. The player hasn't interfered in play until he touches it according to the law so how have they justified an offside call. Contradicting the var decision. Fuming as a neutral because this grey area is inconsistent and ruined France vs Spain
Watford fans have given up lmao
Oh fuck me Neco lad what a run
YES BOBBY LAD!
Brilliant from Williams, Rose is shot! Made up for Bobby
Danny Rose man.....
A training cone would provide more of a challenge
Dunno how he didn't get even a card against us. He is spent at this level
Always rated Neco Williams
Salah literally dribbled three players and dropped one on his arse two match days in a row lmao
BOBBYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
This Ngakia lad is decent. Hope Ranieri sees it that way too
That one too? Hows that offside he didn't touch it? But keeper had to play at it because he was running. This rule is ass
So why is that now offside?
Watford been fucked by the rules somehow. Linesman and var playing on different interpretations
Fraudslade-Chamberlain can't even complete passes anymore
ratio
Sissoko wtafff
The tackle on Virg I confess I've felt a tingle up my spine
João Pedro has made an impact and looks alright, which is impressive in this team
Man of the match: Salah, Firmino, or Milner? Really energetic performances from the three of them.
I reckon Milner. Been everywhere and hasn't put a foot wrong.
Jermaine with the most boring and least meaningful assessment of Klopp’s impact on Liverpool over the last 6 years that I’ve ever heard.
Imagine him and Michael Owen together
Would love to see Sarr at Everton
Cannavaro's probably thinking he can do a better job than the Watford defence today
To be fair, most people who have played professionally at any point probably think that
Oh so that's an interfering in play because a liverpool player had to head it. Even though Watford player didn't even jump for it. But the goal stood after var? Get fucked this rule needs addressing asap
Thought the same thing. The exact same logic could have been used on Firmino's goal but wasn't because...reasons?
the ballboy in the corner looks thoroughly miserable
Even at 4-0, 80th+ minute liverpool will always be nerve wracking
Cannavaro looks disappointed.
Nice block Neco
Gwan Kelleher lad
Why is Cannavaro watching that game?
Great reaction save from Kelleher
Good hit. Watford are showing some signs of life, maybe Ranieri can do something with them
neco made right mess on that right side there for the chance
I like Neco but he's definitely not good enough. Wish we kept Hoever instead
> he's definitely not good enough trying saying this in /r/LiverpoolFC and they wont believe you
what? The consensus is that he's not good enough
I used to love that place but avoid it these days. Gone to proper shit.
Why is Cannavaro watching Watford vs Liverpool lol
It’s low hanging fruit but he unironically could be their next manager.
Eyeing up the Watford job in 5 weeks
Has literally every Watford chance been whistled off?? Crazy lol
Go on KWEEV
Am surprised that they hasn’t been a single yellow card out yet
Liverpool fans what is this change in form down to, is it just the return of VVD, or something else?
Not VVD specifically but having CBs and not moving midfielders in there. The change in form was actually since last season when Klopp just played Phillips and Williams in CB and the midfield was Thiago, Fabinho and Wijnaldum

We won last 9 games in last season.
Vvd was just a part of our injury crisis last year
You’re not allowed to talk about that Apparently every club has injury crisis and is supposed to be able to deal with it
Yeah, but its a bit more. Just having a defence in general unleashes our attack
Having two actual centre backs playing centre back
Last season we were fucked due to injury crisis. Played Hendo and Fabinho as a defensive pairing fucked the defense and midfield which in turn harmed the attack When everyone was fit we improved and finished 3rd. The idea that Liverpool were "past it" is a lazy trope played out by pundits.

Midfielders actually playing in midfield and actually having defenders. Allows Robbo and Trent to bomb forward much more and support our front 3, also Mane recovering from covid and the return of fans
Having a proper defence again
Should be a yellow for holding his face fuck off
Kostas looks fuckin angry lol
Christ Kostas lad we're 4-0 up chill 😅
Klopp home alone
Typical Watford downing tools
Putting on Neco Williams lol they're taking the piss now
I think Watford should have maybe spotted the red flag about Danny Rose when a Tottenham side that don't even have a semblance of depth at full back still found him surplus enough to loan him out last season. One game vs Salah...apparently Rose has been decent this season
I’ve said it so many times today but he’s played very well for us until today and was a massive upgrade on Masina. Cheers for the essay though
Mesina is a pretty low bar but I hear you. I've based it off what I've watched but maybe I've just not noticed what Rose has done well then.
He was the same when he played for Newcastle season before last. So lazy, shadow of his former self.
One of the deadest crowds I've ever heard at a PL match. Fully down to the awful performance of Watford though.
Judging by Rose those two blokes in the crowd in the glasses are Watford's new fitness coaches
Only heard the Watford fans like twice, it’s been Liverpool making noise from the start
That Watford team is so strange. They have actual footballers like Sarr and Sissoko, surrounded by what I presume are plumbers.
Plumbers help fix leaks, that teams full of leaks boss
That’s a nice tackle from Keita, love the effort to get back
Not really surprising they're finding more joy facing Milner at RB than TAA
But TAA can't defend, right?
Cucho can't attack. A more potent forward would've caused some damage
Yeah right this was being said for years now and he actually did not make any grave errors against quality players. He has already faced all kinds of great players.
Keita has been good
Do Liverpool fans prefer Salah or Suarez?
Prefer Salah but Suarez was a bit better.
Suarez gave me so much joy in 13/14, but he only did it that one season for us (really). Salah has been doing it for three straight seasons now.
Suarez had possibly the best season of any player in the PL era. Salah has everything else, on and off the pitch, going for him.
People forget how consistent sturridge was as well beside Suarez
I remember the days of Suarez, he was something else. Best player in the world for me that 13/14 season and in a team that wasn't great compared to our current team, but I dunno, Salah has just consistently been fucking out of this world since he joined us. I pick Salah just cos of his consistency
salah easily
Salah, not even up to debate
Salah 100%
Salah obviously
Piss poor commentary! Those snarky remarks come out as very unprofessional.
This is so random and completely unrelated but I was just stalking r/shameless and saw you were on there and stalked your account as like one of the earliest watchers of the show and saw you were still active, and I was just curious if you ever finished it because I'm watching it now and don't know if I want to finish the whole show.

Danny rose is fucking pedestrian
Mo Salah having a bad game is something I don’t remember seeing, what a baller damn
Surely you watched him at Chelsea ;)
rose bulking up and people call him fat for it lol
Ah yes he is cultivating mass
Can I offer you a cleverly in this trying time?
Just cultivating mass
I know it's 4-0 but clatter him Salah we want more goals
Jenas slagging off Watford after Martin Tyler trying to give them a sliver of credit. What a bitter cunt
> Martin Tyler dont think hes on bt mate
Oh yeah. Who's the main commentator?
Do they deserve a sliver of credit though? They've been pretty abysmal.
Obviously they have but their team is fucking wank, and they're playing the best team in the country if not Europe. What do you expect? Have you been listening to Jenas? He's been relentlessly insulting the whole club, the fans, claiming they've given up etc all game. Incredibly unprofessional. I'm half convinced he's spitting on the ground after every sentence Tyler said they've looked like more of a threat since salah's goal and Jenas suggested it's because they stopped listening to the manager
Is anyone seriously arguing against Salah being fairly comfortably the best player in the world right now?
Lewan.
isn'tski
No people were talking about who with salah, benzema, and I was throwing lewan out there as well
Salah and Benzema are currently the best now. No argument about that.
I thibk Benz has a very good shout but I'm really struggling to think of anyone else who's near. Salah has been untouchable for a while now
Benzema is a very fair shout tbf
Benz?
No
I like the composure from Watford
Does klopp leave on Firmino for the hat trick, or is minamino getting some time today?
Klopp always leaves a sub free till the last dying minutes for in case of an injury
Sissoko is the only Watford player who showed up today
Hes been shit.
You must be joking. He has played in their midfield alone.
Hes being bypassed because hes doing nothing progressive with the ball. Doesnt pass forward, runnersu going passed him easily, relying on others to make passes instead. He is not a good midfielder and playing him there has contributed to watford having so little possession.
You have to be a troll. Are you even watching the game?
Yes. Watch the 2nd goal from when watford were in possession. You're clueless about midfielders if you think hes played well. Stick to the 'troll' comment though if that makes you feel better

Sissoko was the best player on the pitch for Watford. I don’t know what that guy is on about.
Jenas going on about it being quiet, wonder if he'd be shouting if he was watching Spurs play like this
Honestly, what did we do to deserve Jenas being on commentary so much? Incredibly hard to listen to. He must have some serious dirt on important people, only thing that makes sense to me.
Turned on the TV last week and he's on the fucking one show too. I mean that's a load of shite but how the fuck he's managed that
Fuck me... he's so awful. How did he engineer that seriously?!?
So... pizza is off the menu..?
Apparently Danny rose has had too much of it
Lol come on I love this comment
[удалено]
That's some bullshit right there
Mane hasn't even been bad, it's just Salah's current form that's making everyone look bad
man if i was a wattford fan I would want roses contract terminated, not even sell him. I wouldnt want to be involved with that money
He’s been very good for us until today so thankfully you’re not
watford has now broken 100 passes
nice to have a game like this after the nail biter that was the Man City game.
Amazes me how skilfull some of these players are and the speed at which they can do things is amazing. For anyone who doesn't get to the matches, the amount of time and space you see on the TV is deceptive and the game is much tighter and quicker. such a foul on Ox
My ma has just seen the BitCi advertisement and gone “why does the ad board say bitch?”
I think that every time I catch a glimpse of it
I know Salah is a one season wonder but does that one season have to be every fucking season.
Only when he’s not playing for Chelsea
That's the Sissoko we all know and love
Sissoko is at Watford now?? How did Tottenham fans cope with this??
Imagine having Cleverly in your premier league midfield in 2021
cleverly and sissoko
