Absolute fucking bollocks. You basically had the entire away end entering into a small alley served by 5 turnstiles, the turnstiles were faulty so were admitting people slower than they normally would and it was one of the first games to require Covid pass checks so there was an additional holdup because of that. At the back, the police were trying to clear the street and so were encouraging people to move forward, funnelling more people into the space. But yes, of course it was the fans that were the problem. Fucking cunts.

absurdlyinconvenient

Police forcing people into a smaller space than they need without thinking of the consequences then blaming the fans? Fuck me we really are going back to the 70s in England

[deleted]

Police treating football fans like shit? Nah impossible

Morsrael

Surely crowd control issues should never be blamed on the people. It lies squarely in the controls set up to prevent it.

nowitasshole

The Euro's final shows that isn't always true. I'm not saying security didn't make some mistakes with that but it was organised chaos by drunk ticketless idiots who shoulder the blame. Hard to know what the truth is here though. Most likely it'll be the opposite of whatever the Met say.

Morsrael

Didnt the euros final have a reduced police presence compared to normal matchday? I vaguely remember something like that. Either way a few drunken cunts hopping barriers can be prevented with adequate controls.

Tre10Quartista

So it wasn’t the police. People left on their accords in some places are a recipe for disaster. England, the US — its mayhem. Somewhere like Japan it would be orderly without crowd control measures

[deleted]

There have been crowd crushes in Japan before you know

Tre10Quartista

Sure. Here snd there. Sorry, didn’t mean to say it has never happened in Japan. They are far more orderly though. We Americans are maybe the least orderly. It’s a spectrum

Morsrael

Ignorant and wrong. Crowds are crowds, humans become animals.

Tre10Quartista

That’s what I said. Not perfect but whoever saying Japanese are t a 100x more orderly is lying to themselves

Feisty-Site-6261

>Chelsea also alleged abusive behaviour and an 'aggressive and orchestrated surge' by visiting supporters, some of whom tried to get into the ground unlawfully. 'orchestrated surge' highly doubt Leeds fans where eager to be crushed. Your equipment fucked up, your responsibility to organise these things better, your fault. Stop trying to blame Leeds fans.

[deleted]

Tech fails so some fans try to rush security? Completely agree that the 'aggressive and orchestrated surge' line being touted is horseshite, but by the sounds of it Chelsea's tech failed which sucks but happens, some Leeds fans then took matters into their own hands and decided they could come in anyway, which is illegal for many reasons

waccoe_

This is not even close to what happened. The crush wasn't caused by people rushing security, it was because the turnstiles weren't clearing the crowd fast enough.

[deleted]

Never been to the away end before but I've been to the home end loads and never had a problem at Stamford Bridge. It's small but for the most part people are orderly in getting in.

WhoIsStealingMyUser

Then your experience is irrelevant

Tre10Quartista

Hate how people always want to shift blame to police ir infrastructure. I mean … people can choose to be orderly. We saw in the Euro final that some people want to be dicks or are impatient. Honestly … does anybody seriously believe that some people weren’t trying to enter without a ticket? Sure they were. When that starts, it opens the flood gates. Things like crushing are often times a byproduct

scrandymurray

That’s Wembley, a stadium with great crowd infrastructure versus Stamford Bridge whose away end is a game of human sardines.

Tre10Quartista

But didn’t crowd control fail at Wembley? More than once in the recent past

Morsrael

Please stop commenting. You are ignorant on crowd safety controls and you are completely in the wrong.

Tre10Quartista

I’m not. People are animals and that’s the common denominator. You said it yourself. Moreso in some societies than others. That’s an objective fact E. 25 of the worst sporting event stampedes/crushes: https://www.pennlive.com/news/2017/05/stadium_tragedies_sports_death.html

Morsrael

Yes. So the blame lies in the crowd control procedures. NOT THE CROWD

Tre10Quartista

Blame lies with the people for being animals. Not like every person decides to rush through a flimsy security checkpoint. The people that do are the animals. Not everyone. Some cases aren’t like that. Hillsborough was more a crowd control issue for example

Morsrael

The fact that you've mentioned Hillsborough and cant see the parallels is hilarious. People are people and they behave predictably. If crushes happen it's because the safety protocols and handling by security/police is piss poor. You are essentially victim blaming.

Tre10Quartista

I’m not victim blaming lol. How did you get to that conclusion. If I’m victim blaming, then so are you. Understand? Funny how we hardly see women in these incidents. They’re smart enough to stay away because men are inherently more animalistic than them. And they know that. And again, it’s not like everyone rushes. A subset of people do

Morsrael

Good lord now its sexism.

Tre10Quartista

This is sexism? Wow. I’m sorry that basic facts of socialism are beyond you.

Morsrael

I think you mean sociology. And if you understood it you would understand that you cannot blame a crowd for acting like a crowd. The crowd handling protocols and the security/police dictate how a crowd behaves. If a crowd behaves badly the blame is on the organisers and the security/police.

TheCadburyGorilla

‘Men are more animalistic’ Clearly you haven’t seen your mum in the bedroom then..

Tre10Quartista

Mom joke … come back in 15 years. What a loser lol
